An investigation on the dynamic response of a Skybridge Connected Building (SCB) under lateral loads was conducted in aide of a finite element software SAP2000. The software was used along with wind, response spectrum and time history input based on Eurocode 1 Part 1-4, Eurocode 8 and El Centro Earthquake data respectively. Separate models with slightly varying building configuration were created in SAP2000 and the peak nodal displacements and accelerations trends were analysed. It is found out that major factors that govern the response is the exposed surface area for wind, building total height for earthquake, and the distance between the bridge to the source of load. The observations indicated that the location of the bridge in regard to the nodes and antinodes of the structure's vibration has an effect on the nodal displacement and acceleration which can be studied and to develop a further understanding. The flow of water can be modeled by either single phase flow or multiphase flow approach. Despite having the advantage of avoiding discontinuity at the free surface normally faced in single phase model, the multiphase model is still facing the difficulty to advect the sharp interface between two fluids. This study attempts to validate a multiphase model with a third-order accurate scheme for two-dimensional flows with free surface based on the Volume/Surface Integrated Average Multi-Moment Method (VSIAM3). For a sharp and smearless free surface, the Tangent of Hyperbola for Interface Capturing (THINC) scheme is applied in the numerical model to advect the volume of fluid (VOF) function. The advection term in the Navier-Stokes equation is solved using the third-order constrained interpolation profile-conservative semi- Lagrangian (CIP-CSL3) scheme. The performance of the numerical model is checked by simulating the classical dam-break problem with and without an obstacle. Results show that the conservation of fluid volume for both cases are within 0.6% during 1 s of simulation. Satisfactory agreements are observed between the numerical and the previous experimental results in term of the development of free surface profile. For the case of dam-break flow without an obstacle, the variation of the propagation of front wave and the attenuation of depth at the origin between the experimental and numerical results are less than 10% and 1%, respectively. The water quality index is not stable for long time constraints because variable forms of contamination affect by groundwater movements. During recharge and discharge circulation in the ground, the original water quality is disturbed by the surface water injected into the ground system. This paper aims to identify the purity of water contaminations in the ground layer (clay mineral) during abstraction method. Using geo-chemical (XRF) and mineralogy (XRD) analysis, the groundwater quality gives the best result on dilution actions more than 12% decreases compared with purity indexes. Schedulable pumping for withdrawal groundwater flushing for water distribution also gave positive in quality index in order to natural or mineral water intake. The recharge coefficient found in the range of 0.05 to 0.19 for the study area. The circulation system with control function more quality-effective to pure the groundwater ecology system with lower costtreatment for water distribution purpose. Therefore, evaluating the water quality for duo actions in this study must consider the safety level for the ground system and water demand records. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
