Background: Shigella is the leading bacterial cause of diarrheal mortality in children and can cause long-term effects on growth and development. No licensed Shigella vaccines currently exist but several promising candidates are in development and could be available in the next five years. Despite Shigella being a well-known public health target of the World Health Organization for decades, given current burden estimates and competing preventable disease priorities in low-income settings, whether the availability of an effective Shigella vaccine will lead to its prioritization and widespread introduction among countries at highest risk is unknown. Methods: We conducted a mixed-methods study of national stakeholders and healthcare providers in five countries in Asia and Africa and regional stakeholders in the Pan American Health Organization to identify preferences and priorities for forthcoming Shigella vaccines. Results: In our study of 89 individuals, diarrhea was the most frequently mentioned serious health concern for children under five years. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) was more often considered very concerning than diarrhea or stunting. Shigella awareness was high but not considered a serious health concern by most stakeholders. Most participants were willing to consider adding a new vaccine to the routine immunization schedule but expressed reservations about a Shigella vaccine because of lower perceived burden relative to other preventable diseases and an already crowded schedule; interest was highest among national stakeholders in countries receiving more financial support for immunization. The priority of a Shigella vaccine rose when participants considered vaccine impacts on reducing stunting and AMR. Participants strongly preferred oral and combination vaccines compared to injectable and a single-antigen presentations, citing greater perceived community acceptability. Conclusions: This study provides a critical opportunity to hear directly from country and regional stakeholders about health priorities and preferences around new vaccines. These findings should inform ongoing Shigella vaccine development efforts and eventual vaccine introduction and implementation planning.

Rotavin-M1 (POLYVAC) was licensed in Vietnam in 2012. The association of Rotavin-M1 with intussusception, a rare adverse event associated with rotavirus vaccines, and with adverse events following immunization (AEFI) have not been evaluated and monitored under conditions of routine use. From February 2017 to May 2021, we conducted a pilot introduction of Rotavin-M1 into the routine vaccination program in two provinces. Surveillance for intussusception was conducted at six sentinel hospitals. AEFI reports at 30 min and 7 days after vaccination were recorded. Among 443 children ®, ComBE Five®) compared to Rotavin-M1 without pentavalent vaccines. There was no association between intussusception and Rotavin-M1. The vaccine was generally safe when administered alone and when co-administered with other vaccines.

Background: To our knowledge, this study is the first report on the seroprevalence of human leptospirosis and its epidemiological profile in 3 different geographical and climatic zones of Vietnam. Methodology: A hospital-based surveillance in 11 public hospitals in 3 provinces in Vietnam enrolled 3,815 patients with suspected leptospirosis. Two consecutive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay IgM and a single microscopic aggregation test were applied at a 1:100 to 1:800 dilution for probable or confirmed cases. Results: The findings showed that of the 3,815 suspected cases, 68 (1.8%) were Leptospira-confirmed and 248 (6.5%) probable cases, whereas more than a third were positive for acute ELISA-IgM sera. Furthermore, 20 different serovars were found, of which Wolffi (14.2%), Hebdomadis (13.8%), and Icterohaemorrhagiae (12.6%) were the most predominant. The ratio of probable and confirmed cases of leptospirosis between females and males was 1.4:1, and their clinical manifestation was not specific. Cases were more likely to be detected in groups that are farmers, pet raising or livestock farming, of working age, practicing either wading in mud or walking barefoot, or exposed to heavy rainfall. Conclusions: Analysis of human leptospirosis has indicated fairly high seroprevalence and diversity of Leptospira serovars circulating in all studied geographical zones in Vietnam. The findings suggest an imperative need for effective measures of disease prevention, especially in high-risk groups.

Rotavirus (RV), norovirus (NoV), sapovirus (SaV), and human astrovirus (HAstV) are the most common viral causes of gastroenteritis in children worldwide. From 2016 to 2021, we conducted a cross-sectional descriptive study to determine the prevalence of these viruses in hospitalized children under five years old in Nam Dinh and Thua Thien Hue provinces in Vietnam during the pilot introduction of the RV vaccine, Rotavin-M1 (POLYVAC, Hanoi, Vietnam). We randomly selected 2317/6718 (34%) acute diarrheal samples from children ®, Meridian Bioscience, Inc., Cincinnati, OH, USA) was used to detect RV, and two multiplex real-time RT-PCR assays were used for the detection of NoV, SaV and HAstV. The prevalence of RV (single infection) was reduced from 41.6% to 22.7% (p < 0.0001) between pre- and post-vaccination periods, while the single NoV infection prevalence more than doubled from 8.8% to 21.8% (p < 0.0001). The SaV and HAstV prevalences slightly increased from 1.9% to 3.4% (p = 0.03) and 2.1% to 3.3% (p = 0.09), respectively, during the same period. Viral co-infections decreased from 7.2% to 6.0% (p = 0.24), mainly due to a reduction in RV infection. Among the genotypeable samples, NoV GII.4, SaV GI.1, and HAstV-1 were the dominant types, representing 57.3%, 32.1%, and 55.0% among the individual viral groups, respectively. As the prevalence of RV decreases following the national RV vaccine introduction in Vietnam, other viral pathogens account for a larger proportion of the remaining diarrhea burden and require continuing close monitoring.

Abstract Introduction Leptospirosis is a neglected disease in Vietnam. Until now, there has been limited knowledge about risk factors of this disease in Vietnam. The study was carried out to identify agricultural and behavioral factors associated with the transmission of leptospirosis in Vietnam. Methods This matched retrospective hospital-community-based case–control study was conducted from 1 October 2018 to 31 October 2019. We recruited cases from 11 selected government hospitals in three provinces of Vietnam, while controls were selected from the same communes of cases and matched by age (± 2 years) and sex. Microscopic agglutination test (MAT) and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) were applied to determine confirmed cases, while only MAT was used to identify controls with a single high MAT titer

Objective: The objective of the paper is to investigate the presence of SARS-CoV-2 on inanimate surfaces in four healthcare facilities treating patients with COVID-19 and four quarantine regiments of provincial military commands. Methods: From August to October 2020, a total of 468 one-off environmental samples consisting of inanimate surfaces, garbage, and wastewater were collected. The real-time RT-PCR assay targeting E and RdRp genes to detect SARS-CoV-2 and checklist and questionnaire of disinfection practices were employed. If detected by RT-PCR, then positive samples are subjected to cell culture to determine viability. Results: The test results showed all samples (100%) to be negative with SARS-CoV-2 resulting in unperformed virus culture. As for recent disinfection practices, chlorine-based products dissolved at a concentration of 0.1% (1000 ppm) in the general context or 0.5% (5000 ppm) for blood and body fluid spills are routinely applied twice a day and at the discharge of patients or quarantined people. Conclusions: The finding may illustrate the importance of disinfection practices in removing pathogens or significantly reducing SARS-CoV-2 contamination on environmental surfaces and waste.

Abstracts: Objective: This is the first study was conducted to identify the Leptospirosis seroprevalence and serovar distribution among healthy people in different regions in Vietnam. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted with 600 asymptomatic people in three provinces, representing for the North, the northern Central, and the South of Vietnam from November to December 2019. Each participant was collected a 3 ml venous blood sample by a certified phlebotomist. The microscopic agglutination test (MAT) was applied to determine the leptospiral seroprevalence and serogroups with a cutoff titre for seropositivity of ≥1:100. Results: The overall seroprevalence of leptospiral antibody among healthy Vietnamese people was 9.5%. In total eleven serovars of Leptospira were isolated. The most frequent serovars identified were strains of Hebdomadis (14.0%), Pomona (14.0%), Saxkoebing (12.3%), and Panama (8.8%). Among seropositive cases, farmer was majority, accounting for 63.2%, other jobs accounted from 3 to 8%. Conclusions: Overall seropositivity Leptospirosis among healthy people was relatively high in Vietnam. Diverse serovars of Leptospira have been confirmed to circulate in different regions in the country. Further research need to be conducted to determine factors for high seroprevalence in the population of Vietnam. In addition, health education programs should be considered to prevent leptospirosis among Vietnamese people, especially for farmers, in the future.

Prefilled syringes are the standard in developed countries but logistic and financial barriers prevent their widespread use in developing countries. The current study evaluated use of a compact, prefilled, autodisable device (CPAD) to deliver pentavalent vaccine by field actors in Senegal and Vietnam.We conducted a logistic, programmatic, and anthropological study that included a) interviews of immunization staff at different health system levels and parents attending immunization sessions; b) observation of immunization sessions including CPAD use on oranges; and c) document review.Respondents perceived that the CPAD would improve safety by being non-reusable and preventing needle and vaccine exposure during preparation. Preparation was considered simple and may reduce immunization time for staff and caretakers. CPAD impact on cold storage requirements depended on the current pentavalent vaccine being used; in both countries, CPAD would reduce the weight and volume of materials and safety boxes thereby potentially improving outreach strategies and waste disposal. CPAD also would reduce stock outages by bundling vaccine and syringes and reduce wastage by using a non-breakable plastic presentation. Respondents also cited potential challenges including ability to distinguish between CPAD and other pharmaceuticals delivered via a similar mechanism (such as contraceptives), safety, and concerns related to design and ease of administration (such as activation, ease of delivery, and needle diameter and length).Compared to current pentavalent vaccine presentations in Vietnam and Senegal, CPAD technology will address some of the main barriers to vaccination, such as supply chain issues and safety concerns among health workers and families. Most of the challenges we identified can be addressed with health worker training, minor design modifications, and health messaging targeting parents and communities. Potentially the largest remaining barrier is the marginal increase in pentavalent cost--if any--from CPAD use, which we did not assess in our study.

Bài báo này nghiên cứu việc ứng dụng công nghệ điện toán biên di động MEC tại các trạm phát đa anten MIMO cho mạng vô tuyến thế hệ mới (sau 5G/6G). Trong mô hình hệ thống này, nhóm tác giả nghiên cứu vấn đề tối ưu chất lượng trải nghiệm của người dùng thông qua việc giảm độ trễ thời gian offloading dữ liệu. Cụ thể, nhóm tác giả thiết lập bài toán tối ưu đồng thời công suất phân bổ cho các người dùng và tỉ lệ offloading dữ liệu/tính toán cục bộ cho một mạng vô tuyến. Để giải quyết bài toán đưa ra, nhóm tác giả đề xuất một thuật toán dựa trên mô hình học tăng cường sâu (DRL), với các ràng buộc về công suất phân bổ cho người dùng và tỉ lệ offloading dữ liệu. Cuối cùng, trình bày các kết quả mô phỏng tính toán số để kiểm chứng tính hiệu quả của thuật toán được đề ra.

Việc tối ưu hóa năng lượng tiêu thụ được xem là một trong những mục tiêu hàng đầu cho mạng truyền thông xanh. Bài báo này tập trung vào việc tối thiểu hóa năng lượng tiêu thụ cho một mạng massive MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) được hỗ trợ bởi công nghệ điện toán biên di động MEC (Mobile Edge Computing). Trong mô hình mạng này, nhóm tác giả nghiên cứu vấn đề tối thiểu năng lượng tiêu thụ với ràng buộc về công suất của các thiết bị người dùng và ràng buộc tỷ lệ giữa quá trình tải dữ liệu (offloading) và tính toán cục bộ. Để giải được bài toán đặt ra, nhóm tác giả biến đổi vấn đề ban đầu về dạng khả giải dựa trên thuật toán bất đẳng thức ma trận tuyến tính LMI (Linear Matrix Inequality Programming). Trong phần kết quả tính toán số, nhóm tác giả sử dụng công cụ mô phỏng trong MatLAB để kiểm chứng tính hiệu quả của giải thuật đề xuất và đưa các thảo luận về các tham số hệ thống để đạt được mức năng lượng tiêu thụ tối ưu.

Bề mặt phản xạ thông minh (IRS) là công nghệ tiềm năng được phát triển dựa trên công nghệ mảng ăng-ten. IRS được xem là thành phần không thể thiếu cho thế hệ mạng B5G và 6G với khả năng giúp việc kiếm soát môi trường lan truyền giữa máy phát và máy thu trở nên khả thi hơn. Dựa vào đặc tính tán xạ đẳng hướng của môi trường, các công trình khoa học khi nghiên cứu cơ sở lý thuyết về công nghệ mảng ăng-ten thường sử dụng mô hình pha-đinh Rayleigh phân phối độc lập và giống nhau (i.i.d). Và điều này cũng được ứng dụng khi nghiên cứu đặc tính kênh truyền cho mảng ăng- ten phẳng như IRS. Tuy nhiên, kết quả nghiên cứu của bài báo này sẽ cho thấy rằng việc sử dụng mô hình như trên sẽ không khả thi về mặt thực tế đối với IRS; và từ đó tìm hiểu và phân tích một mô hình pha-đinh Rayleigh khả thi đối với IRS thông qua việc khảo sát các thuộc tính cơ bản như thứ hạng của ma trận tương quan không gian và hiện tượng channel hardening.

All-male giant freshwater prawns (AMGFPs) have been a popular crop cultivated in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, due to their proven production efficiency compared to all-female or mixed-sex prawn cultures. However, the crucial water quality factors impacting AMGFP aquaculture efficiency have yet to be elaborately investigated. Two separate experiments were randomly arranged with three replicates to evaluate the effects of salinity or alkalinity on the growth and survival of AMGFP juveniles during the grow-out period. The results show that the prawn survival rate in the salinity range of 0-15‰ varied from 66.1 to 74.8% and in a salinity range of 0-5‰ was relatively low compared to the range of 10-15‰; however, the difference was not significant among salinities after 90 days of culture (p > 0.05). All the prawn growth performance parameters significantly decreased with increasing salinities of 0, 5, 10, and 15‰ after 30, 60, and 90 days of culture (p < 0.05). Notably, the prawn yield did not significantly differ between salinities of 0 and 5‰ (p > 0.05), and both were significantly higher than those at salinities of 10 and 15‰ (p < 0.05) after 90 days of culture. In addition, the survival rate reached 82.5-84.4% and did not significantly differ among alkalinities of 80, 100, 120, 140, and 160 mgCaCO3 L-1. However, the growth performance parameters and yield of AMGFPs at an alkalinity of 160 mg L-1 were significantly higher than those at lower alkalinities (80, 100, 120, and 140 mgCaCO3 L-1) after 90 days of culture. Therefore, it is recommended that a salinity range of 0-5‰ and alkalinity of 160 mgCaCO3 L-1 is optimal for the growth-out culture of AMGFP juveniles. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Leptospirosis is a neglected disease in Vietnam. Only a few studies have evaluated the status of Leptospira infection in both humans and animals. To our knowledge, this is the first serological survey of Leptospira in both domestic and wild animals, which may act as reservoirs of this agent. This study aimed to evaluate the seroprevalence of Leptospira in animals that are in close contact with humans in different geographical areas in Vietnam. Sera were collected from 1205 individual animals of six species, including buffaloes, cattle, cats, dogs, swine, and rats. The microscopic agglutination test (MAT) against 25 serovars of Leptospira spp. has been employed to detect serovars of Leptospira among the studied population. Overall, 44.2% of buffaloes, 24.9% of cattle, 10.2% of swine, 32.9% of dogs, 12.2% of cats, and 16% of rats were seropositive. A total of 17 different serovars were detected, of which serovars Hebdomadis and Canicola circulated in all the studied animal species. Variability of the predominant serovars circulating in animal species and in different geographical areas of Vietnam has been noted. We conclude that this study showed a high prevalence of Leptospira circulating in animals that are in close contact with humans, raising an alert of the important sources of pathogenic leptospires transmission to humans in Vietnam. Massive MIMO (mMIMO) được xem là công nghệ cốt lõi cho mạng 5G và là thành phần chính cho các thế hệ mạng tiếp theo (6G trở đi). Việc sử dụng mMIMO mang lại nhiều lợi ích đáng kể như tăng tốc độ truyền dữ liệu, tăng độ tin cậy, giảm thời gian trễ, tăng hiệu suất phổ và hiệu suất năng lượng. Tuy nhiên, khi mMIMO sử dụng hàng trăm hoặc thậm chí hàng ngàn ăng-ten dẫn đến lãng phí năng lượng và gây ra khí thải nhà kính có hại cho môi trường. Bài báo này nghiên cứu việc phân bổ công suất nhằm tối ưu hóa hiệu suất năng lượng của hệ thống mMIMO đường xuống thông qua tối ưu lồi. Hiệu quả của giải thuật đề xuất trong nghiên cứu này sẽ được kiểm chứng thông qua mô phỏng Monte Carlo và kết quả số.

The importance of physical activity in the workplace has been raised by the World Health Organization. The aim of this formative evaluation is to develop a workplace-based physical activity program in Vietnam. A mixed method of quantitative and qualitative approaches will be applied in this study. Data will be obtained by face to face interviewing using a structured questionnaire with the current staff of the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, Hanoi, Vietnam. In addition, nine interviewees will be conducted with selected participants. This is the first study on physical activity in workplace in Vietnam. The study's results will elucidate the current understanding of the barriers, facilitators, and related factors to effective intervention strategies for promoting physical activity in workplace setting. Nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm đánh giá hiệu quả của các mô hình canh tác chính trên vùng ngập lũ hiện có tại huyện Tháp Mười, tỉnh Đồng Tháp nhằm làm cơ sở tham khảo cho các quyết định chính sách phát triển nông nghiệp bền vững trước các thách thức của biến đổi khí hậu. Khảo sát đa dạng sinh học nhóm thủy sản và thực vật bậc cao kết hợp với phỏng vấn sâu 105 hộ dân đã được thực hiện trên 04 mô hình khác nhau tại xã Mỹ Hòa. Kết quả cho thấy mô hình canh tác sen (hoặc sen kết hợp) có mức độ đa dạng loài cao hơn so với mô hình canh tác lúa truyền thống. Lợi nhuận của mô hình lúa 3 vụ chỉ đạt khoảng 60 triệu đồng/ha/năm, thấp hơn nhiều so với mô hình sen kết hợp du lịch có lợi nhuận cao nhất khoảng 292 triệu/ha/năm. Khả năng trữ nước của mô hình sen cao hơn gấp đôi so với mô hình canh tác lúa 3 vụ. Tuy nhiên, để nhân rộng các mô hình sen thì cần phải có kế hoạch quản lý dài hạn.

Background: Metabolic syndrome is prevalent among Vietnamese adults, especially those aged 50-65 years. This study evaluated the effectiveness of a 6 month community-based lifestyle intervention to increase physical activity levels and improve dietary behaviours for adults with metabolic syndrome in Vietnam.Methods: Ten communes, involving participants aged 50-65 years with metabolic syndrome, were recruited from Hanam province in northern Vietnam. The communes were randomly allocated to either the intervention (five communes, n = 214) or the control group (five communes, n = 203). Intervention group participants received a health promotion package, consisting of an information booklet, education sessions, a walking group, and a resistance band. Control group participants received one session of standard advice during the 6 month period. Data were collected at baseline and after the intervention to evaluate programme effectiveness. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire - Short Form and a modified STEPS questionnaire were used to assess physical activity and dietary behaviours, respectively, in both groups. Pedometers were worn by the intervention participants only for 7 consecutive days at baseline and post-intervention testing. To accommodate the repeated measures and the clustering of individuals within communes, multilevel mixed regression models with random effects were fitted to determine the impacts of intervention on changes in outcome variables over time and between groups.Results: With a retention rate of 80.8%, the final sample comprised 175 intervention and 162 control participants. After controlling for demographic and other confounding factors, the intervention participants showed significant increases in moderate intensity activity (P = 0.018), walking (P < 0.001) and total physical activity (P = 0.001), as well as a decrease in mean sitting time (P < 0.001), relative to their control counterparts. Significant improvements in dietary behaviours were also observed, particularly reductions in intake of animal internal organs (P = 0.001) and in using cooking oil for daily meal preparation (P = 0.001).Conclusions: The prescribed community-based physical activity and nutrition intervention programme successfully improved physical activity and dietary behaviours for adults with metabolic syndrome in Vietnam.Trial Registration: Australian New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry, ACTRN12614000811606 . Background: Rotavirus is the most common etiology of diarrhea-associated hospitalizations and clinic visits in Vietnamese children < 5 years old. To estimate the economic burden of rotavirus-associated formal healthcare encounters, an economic study was conducted.Methods: A cost-of-illness study was performed from a societal perspective. Data were collected from children below the age of five years who presented to a clinic or hospital with symptoms of acute gastroenteritis (AGE). Patient-specific information on resource use and cost was obtained through caregiver interviews and medical chart review. Costs are presented in 2014 US dollar ($).Results: A total of 557 children with symptoms of AGE were enrolled from March through June 2009, with mean age of 16.5 months. Of the 340 outpatients and 217 admitted patients enrolled, 41 % tested rotavirus positive. It was found that, from a societal perspective, the mean total cost of AGE was $175. Costs of patients with and without rotavirus were $217 and $158, respectively. From multiple regression analysis, it was found that rotavirus infection, patient age and receiving oral rehydration solution before visiting health facility had significant effect on the costs.Conclusions: This study clearly demonstrated substantial economic burden of AGE including rotavirus disease. They were significantly greater than the previously reported cost estimates in Vietnam. Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá hiện trạng và những lợi ích khi tham gia hợp tác xã (HTX) thông qua việc phỏng vấn trực tiếp 30 thành viên nuôi tôm thuộc HTX Nuôi tôm Năng suất cao Tân Hưng, huyện Cái Nước, tỉnh Cà Mau. Các thông tin thu thập gồm hiện trạng kỹ thuật và những lợi ích của người nuôi tôm khi tham gia HTX. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy năng suất trung bình đạt 3,97 tấn/1.000 m2/vụ và lợi nhuận trung bình là 137 triệu đồng/1.000 m2/vụ. Tỷ suất lợi nhuận là 0,42 và 23,3% hộ nuôi thua lỗ. Khi tham gia HTX, thành viên có được lợi ích về kinh tế và hiệp hội. Lợi ích kinh tế bao gồm việc tăng doanh thu và lợi nhuận do tăng sản lượng, giảm chi phí đầu vào và giá bán ổn đinh. Lợi ích về khía cạnh hiệp hội bao gồm các yếu tố: được ưu đãi giá vật tư và các dịch vụ đầu vào, được hỗ trợ về kỹ thuật, chất lượng đầu ra sản phẩm tốt hơn, xây dựng mối liên kết và tạo môi trường hợp tác, được trao đổi và chia sẻ kinh nghiệm trong sản xuất. The article presents the key findings from formative research conducted in Vietnam on human papillomavirus vaccine (HPV) introduction. Variables explored included sociocultural environment, health system capacity and the policy-making process. Methods used for data collection include literature review, in-depth interviews, focus group discussions and attitudes and practices, among others. Study population were 11 to 14-year-old girls, their parents, community leaders and teachers, among others. The findings showed choices for potential vaccine delivery strategies and targeted advocacy strategies to introduce HPV vaccines in the Vietnamese context.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện với 2 nội dung là (i) thí nghiệm đánh giá khả năng tăng trưởng của cá giống sặc rằn (Trichogaster pectogalis) khi nuôi ở các độ mặn khác nhau và (ii) khảo sát hiện trạng nuôi cùng với khả năng thích ứng của người nuôi cá trong điều kiện biến đổi khí hậu. Đối với nội dung thứ nhất, thí nghiệm được tiến hành trên bể với 6 nghiệm thức có độ mặn là 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 và 15 ‰. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy cá sặc rằn tăng trưởng tốt nhất ở độ mặn 9 ‰(đạt 6,15 g/con và 7,67cm/con) nhưng tỷ lệ sống của cá đạt cao nhất ở độ mặn 3 ‰(92,2%) cao hơn có ý nghĩa thống kê so với độ mặn 6 và 9 ‰(55,6% và 12,1%). Nội dung thứ hai là khảo sát hiện trạng nuôi cá và ý kiến của người nuôi về ảnh hưởng của biến đổi khí hậu nói chung và xâm nhập mặn nói riêng lên nghề nuôi được tiến hành tại tỉnh Hậu Giang và Bạc Liêu với 32 hộ bằng phiếu câu hỏi soạn sẵn. Kết quả cho thấy, năng suất cá nuôi trung bình 8,71 tấn/ha/vụ, lợi nhuận trung bình 43,1 triệu đ/ha/vụ/. Có 84 – 90% số hộ nuôi đã nhận biết được sự thay đổi của khí hậu và 59 – 84% người nuôi nhận định lượng mưa lớn và sự thay đổi của nhiệt độ đã tác động đến mô hình nuôi. Kết quả khảo sát cũng cho thấy 94% số hộ cho rằng chưa bị ảnh hưởng của xâm nhập mặn trong thời gian qua. Tuy nhiên, đối với khả năng bị xâm nhập mặn trong thời gian tới, có trên 42% số hộ vẫn nuôi cá bình thường khi độ mặn nhỏ hơn 5 ‰, khi độ mặn lớn hơn 5 ‰ có trên 75% nông hộ không đề xuất được giải pháp ứng phó.

Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá nhận thức, ảnh hưởng và giải pháp của người nuôi tôm trong mô hình nuôi tôm quảng canh cải tiến do tác động của thời tiết thay đổi thông qua việc phỏng vấn trực tiếp 94 hộ nuôi tôm sú quảng canh cải tiến tại tỉnh Sóc Trăng (30 hộ), Bạc Liêu (31 hộ) và Cà Mau (33 hộ). Các thông tin được thu thập: bao gồm hiệu quả sản xuất, các giải pháp ứng phó của người nuôi trong thời gian qua và thời gian tới do sự thay đổi của các yếu tố như mưa nắng, nhiệt độ, độ mặn, mực nước thủy triều. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy năng suất tôm nuôi trung bình là 0,47 tấn/ha/năm, lợi nhuận trung bình 21,3 triệu đ/ha/năm với tỷ lệ thua lỗ trung bình 23,4%. Phần lớn nông dân (92 - 99%) nhận thức được sự biến đổi và tác động của các yếu tố thời tiết trong thời gian qua và thời gian tới. Giải pháp ứng dụng khoa học kỹ thuật như sử dụng thuốc, hóa chất, quản lý môi trường được người nuôi lựa chọn (70 – 90%) để giải quyết các vấn đề khó khăn nhiều hơn so với các giải pháp khác.

Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá nhận thức, ảnh hưởng và giải pháp của người nuôi tôm trong mô hình tôm - lúa luân canh do tác động của biến đổi khí hậu thông qua việc phỏng vấn trực tiếp 99 hộ nuôi tôm sú – lúa tại các vùng trọng điểm nuôi tôm lúa ở tỉnh Sóc Trăng (huyện Mỹ Xuyên; 32 hộ), Bạc Liêu (huyện Phước Long; 34 hộ) và Cà Mau (huyện Trần Văn Thời; 33 hộ). Các thông tin được thu thập là hiệu quả sản xuất, các giải pháp ứng phó của người nuôi trong thời gian qua và thời gian tới do sự thay đổi của các yếu tố như mùa mưa, lượng mưa, nhiệt độ, độ mặn và mực nước thủy triều. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy năng suất tôm nuôi trung bình là 0,35 tấn/ha/vụ, lợi nhuận trung bình 24,2 trđ./ha/vụ với tỷ lệ thua lỗ trung bình 9,1%. Năng suất lúa trung bình là 5,2 tấn/ha/vụ, lợi nhuận trung bình 16,5 trđ./ha/vụ với tỷ lệ thua lỗ trung bình (8,1%). Phân tích khía cạnh kỹ thuật và tài chánh của mô hình nuôi tôm sú thâm canh trong vùng chịu tác động của biến đổi khí hậu, nghiên cứu được thực hiện từ tháng 1 ? 3 năm 2012 thông qua việc phỏng vấn trực tiếp 93 hộ nuôi tôm sú ở Sóc Trăng, Bạc Liêu và Cà Mau. Kết quả phân tích cho thấy không có sự khác biệt về tổng diện tích trang trại ở 3 tỉnh. Tuy nhiên có sự khác biệt về diện tích trung bình ao nuôi ở 3 tỉnh, thấp nhất ở Bạc Liêu với 0,30 ha/ao và cao nhất ở Sóc Trăng 0,41 ha/ao. Độ sâu mực nước ao nuôi ở Sóc Trăng là thấp nhất chỉ 1,30 m, sâu nhất với 1,54 m ở Cà Mau, ở Bạc Liêu là 1,40 m. Mật độ thả nuôi cao nhất ở Cà Mau với 24,87 con/m2, Sóc Trăng là 23,33 con/m2, và thấp nhất là Bạc Liêu chỉ 17,68 con/m2. Hệ số chuyển hóa thức ăn ở các hộ nuôi tôm ở Cà Mau là thấp nhất với FCR là 1,45, không khác biệt ở Sóc Trăng là 1,51 nhưng khác biệt so với Bạc Liêu là 1,62 (p < 0,05). Năng suất tôm nuôi thấp nhất ở Sóc Trăng với 2,43 tấn/ha/vụ, ở Bạc Liêu là 4,12 tấn/ha/vụ, cao nhất ở Cà Mau với 4,87 tấn/ha/vụ. Tổng chi phí và lợi nhuận bình quân thấp nhất ở Sóc Trăng với 206,01 triệu đ/ha/vụ và 134,98 triệu đ/ha/vụ, Bạc Liêu với 334,27 triệu đ/ha/vụ và 289,06 triệu đ/ha/vu và Cà Mau là 340,58 triệu đ/ha/vụ và 392,89 triệu đ/ha/vụ. Các yếu tố ảnh hưởng đến năng suất tôm nuôi và lợi nhuận mô hình cũng được đề cập trong nghiên cứu này.

The article details a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial which examined the efficacy of live oral pentavalent rotavirus vaccine in preventing severe rotavirus gastroenteritis in infants in Bangladesh and Vietnam. The study included 2,036 infants, aged four to 12 weeks without any gastrointestinal disorders, who were randomly assigned to receive oral doses of pentavalent rotavirus vaccine or placebo, in conjunction with routine oral poliovirus vaccine. 38 cases of severe rotavirus gastroenteritis were reported among infants who received rotavirus vaccine, compared to 71 cases in the placebo group. Study authors concluded that pentavalent rotavirus vaccine is safe and effective.
