International audience; Strangely enough, Piaget’s « genetic constructivism » has not been often discussed in relation to Bourdieu’s, despite some conceptual and terminological similarities. The first refers to the development of knowledge, from the earliest age to adolescence, and stands at the level of the « epistemic » subject. The second is concerned with the foundation of a theory of practice. However, these two scientific projects are fundamentally convergent: they both imply the institution of a real scientific habitus while carrying a radical criticism of the scholastic habitus. But to go further on an integrative, bio-psycho-sociological path, it is necessary to criticize genetic epistemology through a sociological revision of general epistemology. Such an approach grounds our proposals in favor of an actual interdisciplinarity that would translate into a « return to Piaget ».; Étrangement, le « constructivisme génétique » de Piaget a été peu rapproché de celui de Bourdieu, en dépit de certaines similarités conceptuelles et terminologiques. Le premier est référé au développement de la connaissance, du plus jeune âge à l’adolescence, et à l’échelle du sujet « épistémique ». Le second a partie liée avec la fondation d’une théorie de la pratique. Ces deux projets scientifiques se rejoignent pourtant sur l’essentiel : ils supposent identiquement d’instituer un véritable habitus scientifique et emportent une critique radicale de l’habitus scolastique. Mais pour aller plus loin sur une voie intégrative bio-psycho-sociologique, il convient de critiquer l’épistémologie génétique à la lumière d’une refonte sociologique de l’épistémologie générale. Une telle démarche inspire les propositions pour une réelle interdisciplinarité qui concluent notre propos, sous l’égide d’un « retour à Piaget ».

The starting point of our research within the ongoing Horizon 2020 project, 'European Inventory of Societal Values of Culture as a Basis for Inclusive Cultural Policies in the Globalizing World, ' is that, in the last thirty years, mega-trends of globalization, European integration, migrations, digitalization and rising social inequalities have changed culture fundamentally, but that cultural policies in Europe have not kept pace with these changes. This paper focuses on the influence of rising social inequalities on culture. Our data come from a survey on 14, 374 respondents – from the Netherlands, France, Spain, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Croatia and Serbia. Using the dataset which includes primary data on respondents’ physical and digital practices in everyday, popular and elite culture, we aim to create comprehensive evidence on the influence of social inequalities on cultural practices. In this paper, we try to answer the following research questions: (1) Do inequalities in economic and cultural capital differently influence cultural practices (with a special reference to differences in traditional (physical) and digital practices)? ; (2) Do inequalities in economic and cultural capital differently influence art-related cultural practices (both physical and digital) and everyday cultural practices (which are an expression of the way of life in the community)? ; (3) What is the impact of social differences (in terms of age and place of residence) on these different types of cultural practices? Answers to these questions provide an opportunity to conceive comprehensive measures of cultural policy aiming to lessen the impact of these economic/cultural/demographic barriers to cultural participation.
