Abstract

This study proposes a new and simple process that improves the quality of a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler crosslinked with 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BDDE) using solution dispersion at a low temperature. This process involves the solvent being dispersed among the solute naturally after the mixing process. The process used in this study involved two reactions. First, the solution was dispersed among HA molecules (Mw = ~0.7 MDa) creating a well-homogenized mixture. Second, the decomposition and synthesis of HA occurred naturally in an aqueous alkaline solution (>pH 11), the weight average molar mass (Mw) was adjusted (Mw = ~143,000), and the crosslinking surface area was expanded, allowing for a high degree of crosslinking. Therefore, the viscoelasticity and cohesion of the filler increased with the new method compared to the previous process both at the lab scale (previous process:new process, viscosity (cP) = 24M:43M, storage modulus (Pa) = 306:538, loss modulus (Pa) = 33:61, and tack (N) = 0.24:0.43) and at the factory scale (previous process:new process, complex viscosity (cP) = 19M:26M, storage modulus (Pa) = 229:314, loss modulus (Pa) = 71:107, and tack (N) = 0.35:0.43). Abstract

Our study introduces a facile synthetic route for the in situ formation of nickel (Ni)–iron (Fe) oxyhydroxide from NiFe oxalate. By adding potassium fluoride (KF) to the synthetic solution, we achieved a predominant surface distribution of Fe (>80 at%) while limiting its bulk incorporation compared to solutions without KF. Operando Raman spectroscopy analysis confirms that the enriched Fe predominantly exists as FeOOH. Our optimized catalyst demonstrates significant efficiency, achieving a current density of 10 mA cm−2 at a notably low overpotential of 226 mV. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The integration of metal–organic frameworks (MOF) into three-dimensional (3D) architectures has emerged as a promising strategy for enhancing the performance of energy storage devices. However, current approaches to achieve this integration are limited, especially for combining two-dimensional (2D) materials with MOFs to form complex 3D structures. In this study, 3D MXene-based microspheres encapsulating MOF-derived ZnSe@NC nanoparticles (3D MX/ZnSe@NC) were successfully fabricated by spray drying. The 3D structure effectively prevented restacking of MXene nanosheets and provided a large surface area with abundant ion storage sites. The uniform distribution of the ZnSe@NC nanoparticles within the MXene matrix not only prevented the aggregation of ZnSe crystals during cycling but also enhanced the electrical conductivity. Therefore, 3D MX/ZnSe@NC exhibited remarkable cycling stability (238 mA h g−1 at 0.5 A g−1 after 1000 cycles) and excellent rate performance (110 mA h g−1 at 2.0 A g−1), promoting its use as an anode material for potassium-ion batteries (PIBs). Furthermore, the K-ion storage mechanism was investigated to elucidate the reasons for the high performance of 3D MX/ZnSe@NC. The facile synthesis method and exceptional performance highlight the potential of 3D MX/ZnSe@NC as a high-performance anode material for PIBs. 41. vCNN: Verifiable Convolutional Neural Network Based on zk-SNARKs

Abstract

It is becoming important for the client to be able to check whether the AI inference services have been correctly calculated. Since the weight values in a CNN model are assets of service providers, the client should be able to check the correctness of the result without them. The Zero-knowledge Succinct Non-interactive Argument of Knowledge (zk-SNARK) allows verifying the result without input and weight values. However, the proving time in zk-SNARK is too slow to be applied to real AI applications. This article proposes a new efficient verifiable convolutional neural network (vCNN) framework that greatly accelerates the proving performance. We introduce a new efficient relation representation for convolution equations, reducing the proving complexity of convolution from O(ln) to O(l+n) compared to existing zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive argument of knowledge (zk-SNARK) approaches, where l and n denote the size of the kernel and the data in CNNs. Experimental results show that the proposed vCNN improves proving performance by 20-fold for a simple MNIST and 18,000-fold for VGG16. The security of the proposed scheme is formally proven.
