While silicon solar cells dominate global photovoltaic energy production, their continued improvement is hindered by the single junction limit. One potential solution is to use molecular singlet exciton fission to generate two electrons from each absorbed high-energy photon. We demonstrate that the long-standing challenge of coupling molecular excited states to silicon solar cells can be overcome using sequential charge transfer. Combining zinc phthalocyanine, aluminum oxide, and a shallow junction crystalline silicon microwire solar cell, the peak charge generation efficiency per photon absorbed in tetracene is (138 +- 6)%, comfortably surpassing the quantum efficiency limit for conventional silicon solar cells and establishing a new, scalable approach to low cost, high efficiency photovoltaics., Comment: 34 pages, 14 figures

In recent years, Large Language Models (LLM) have demonstrated impressive capabilities in the field of natural language processing (NLP). This paper explores the application of LLMs in negotiation transcript analysis by the Vanderbilt AI Negotiation Lab. Starting in September 2022, we applied multiple strategies using LLMs from zero shot learning to fine tuning models to in-context learning). The final strategy we developed is explained, along with how to access and use the model. This study provides a sense of both the opportunities and roadblocks for the implementation of LLMs in real life applications and offers a model for how LLMs can be applied to coding in other fields.

We introduce a sequence of orthogonal polynomials whose associated moments are the Rayleigh-type sums, involving the zeros of the Bessel derivative $J_\nu'$ of order $\nu$. We also discuss the fundamental properties of those polynomials such as recurrence, orthogonality, etc. Consequently, we obtain a formula for the Hankel determinant, elements of which are chosen as the aforementioned Rayleigh-type sums. We introduce HyperCLOVA X, a family of large language models (LLMs) tailored to the Korean language and culture, along with competitive capabilities in English, math, and coding. HyperCLOVA X was trained on a balanced mix of Korean, English, and code data, followed by instruction-tuning with high-quality human-annotated datasets while abiding by strict safety guidelines reflecting our commitment to responsible AI. The model is evaluated across various benchmarks, including comprehensive reasoning, knowledge, commonsense, factuality, coding, math, chatting, instruction-following, and harmlessness, in both Korean and English. HyperCLOVA X exhibits strong reasoning capabilities in Korean backed by a deep understanding of the language and cultural nuances. Further analysis of the inherent bilingual nature and its extension to multilingualism highlights the model's cross-lingual proficiency and strong generalization ability to untargeted languages, including machine translation between several language pairs and cross-lingual inference tasks. This paper investigates a generalized interlacing property between Bessel functions, particularly $J_\nu$ and $J_\mu$, where the difference $|\nu-\mu|$ exceeds $2$. This interlacing phenomenon is marked by a compensatory interaction with the zeros of Lommel polynomials, extending our understanding beyond the traditional $|\nu-\mu| \le 2$ regime. The paper extends the generalized interlacing property to cylinder functions and derivative of Bessel functions, as an application. It is also discussed that Siegel's extension of Bourget hypothesis to rational numbers of $\nu$ cannot be further improved to arbitrary real numbers., Comment: 21 pages, 3 figures

Two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides are among the most promising materials for water-splitting catalysts. While a variety of methods have been applied to promote the hydrogen evolution reaction on the transition metal dichalcogenides, doping of transition metal heteroatoms have attracted much attention since it provides effective ways to optimize the hydrogen adsorption and H2 generation reactions. Herein, we provide in-depth and systematic analyses on the trends of the free energy of hydrogen adsorption ({\Delta}GH*), the most well-known descriptor for evaluating hydrogen evolution reaction performance, in the doped transition metal dichalcogenides. Using the total 150 doped transition metal dichalcogenides, we carried out the atom-level analysis on the origin of {\Delta}GH* changes upon the transition metal heteroatom doping, and suggest two key factors that govern the hydrogen adsorption process on the doped transition metal dichalcogenides: 1) the changes in the charge of chalcogen atoms where hydrogen atoms adsorbed for the early transition metal doped structures, and 2) the structural deformation energies accompanying in introduced dopants for the late transition metal doped structures. Based on our findings, we interpret from a new perspective how vacancies in the TM-doped TMDs can provide optimal {\Delta}GH* in HER. We suggest electrostatic control for early TM doped systems and structural control for late TM doped systems as the effective strategies for the thermoneutral {\Delta}GH* in TMD.

Organic metal halide hybrids with low-dimensional structures at the molecular level have received great attention recently for their exceptional structural tunability and unique photophysical properties. Here we report for the first time the synthesis and characterization of a one-dimensional (1D) organic metal halide hybrid material, which contains metal halide nanoribbons with a width of three octahedral units. It is found that this material with a chemical formula C$_8$H$_{28}$N$_5$Pb$_3$Cl$_{11}$ shows a dual emission with a photoluminescence quantum efficiency (PLQE) of around 25% under ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation. Photophysical studies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest the coexisting of delocalized free excitons and localized self-trapped excitons in metal halide nanoribbons leading to the dual emission. Image compression is a method to remove spatial redundancy between adjacent pixels and reconstruct a high-quality image. In the past few years, deep learning has gained huge attention from the research community and produced promising image reconstruction results. Therefore, recent methods focused on developing deeper and more complex networks, which significantly increased network complexity. In this paper, two effective novel blocks are developed: analysis and synthesis block that employs the convolution layer and Generalized Divisive Normalization (GDN) in the variable-rate encoder and decoder side. Our network utilizes a pixel RNN approach for quantization. Furthermore, to improve the whole network, we encode a residual image using LSTM cells to reduce unnecessary information. Experimental results demonstrated that the proposed variable-rate framework with novel blocks outperforms existing methods and standard image codecs, such as George's ~\cite{002} and JPEG in terms of image similarity. Let $\mathbb{F}_q$ be a finite field of order $q$. In this paper, we study the distribution of rectangles in a given set in $\mathbb{F}_q^2$. More precisely, for any $0<\delta\le 1$, we prove that there exists an integer $q_0=q_0(\delta)$ with the following property: if $q\ge q_0$ and $A$ is a multiplicative subgroup of $\mathbb{F}^*_q$ with $|A|\ge q^{2/3}$, then any set $S\subset \mathbb{F}_q^2$ with $|S|\ge \delta q^2$ contains at least $\gg \frac{|S|^4|A|^2}{q^5}$ rectangles with side-lengths in $A$. The first purpose of this paper is to solve completely the finite field cone restriction conjecture in four dimensions with $-1$ non-square.
