Background and objectives: Forest environments provide various healing benefits for humans and have been widely studied. Nevertheless, the field of forest management for forest healing remains relatively understudied. The purpose of this study is to utilize thermal environmental simulation to derive forest management scenarios that are optimized for forest healing. Methods: This study focused on the Seogwipo Experimental Forest on Jeju Island, Korea. Three-dimensional forest models were generated based on field surveys. Thermal environment simulations were conducted using Grasshopper with the Ladybug and Honeybee plug-ins, and the thermal comfort levels of six forest management scenarios were evaluated using the Universal Thermal Climate Index (UTCI). Results: The simulation results showed that, among all the scenarios, only scenario (c), "10% thinning in the buffer zone", led to an improvement in thermal comfort. Additionally, the study identified discrepancies in thermal comfort between different forest management scenarios. Conclusions: In the management of forests for healing forestry purposes, the distinction of forest zones by use and the application of different forest management scenarios have thermal comfort implications. Lipstick smear analysis can provide valuable information in forensic investigations, but it is difficult to distinguish lipstick products because their complex compositions can vary with the brand and product. In this study, various lipstick samples were analyzed using time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (ToF-SIMS) and attenuated total reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR). ATR-FTIR method was useful for preliminary categorization of lipstick. Generally, ToF-SIMS provides chemical information about sample surfaces. Each lipstick sample showed characteristic ion peaks in the ToF-SIMS spectra. To investigate the effect of the substrate on the ToF-SIMS spectra, two lipsticks were applied to five different substrates (white paper, glass slide, tissue paper, orange cotton fabric, and black cotton fabric) and analyzed using principal component analysis. Trace lipstick smears deposited on tissue paper and cigarette butts were analyzed and compared with results from reference lipstick samples. A 13‐year‐old spayed female Persian cat presented with dyspnea and nasal discharge. Thoracic radiography revealed a dome‐shaped soft‐tissue opacity in the carina. Computed tomography confirmed a soft tissue‐attenuating mass in the carina and the left and right proximal main bronchi that appeared to arise from the tracheal wall. Tracheoscopy revealed an intraluminal broad‐based mass with multilobulated borders at the same location. Histopathological evaluation revealed a benign neoplastic process of the glandular epithelial lineage, which was considered an adenoma. Lacquer sap has been traditionally used in coatings and artwork. Suitable types of lacquer are required to preserve and restore artifacts. Recently, unsuitable cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) has often been mixed with lacquer sap, so it is necessary to identify the characteristics of lacquer sap by the production area. However, research is still focused on urushiol and laccol. In this study, Myanmarese lacquer sap collected from Gluta usitata, which contains thitsiol as the main component, was analyzed by HPLC to quantify thitsiol using the standards 3-(10-phenyldecyl) benzene-1,2-diol (thitsiol 16) and 3-(8Z,11Z-pentadecadienyl)-benzenediol (urushiol 15:2) as markers, and calibration curves were plotted. The coefficients of determination (R2) for thitsiol 16 and urushiol 15:2 were 0.9985 and 0.9983, respectively. In addition, a blind test was conducted to confirm that accurate quantitative analysis was possible even when Myanmarese lacquer was mixed with lacquer from another production area, which contained urushiol as the main component, and CNSL, which contained cardol, a completely different catechol. Quantitative analysis of thitsiol 16 and urushiol 15:2 in Myanmarese lacquer using HPLC can be used to evaluate the quality of lacquer sap and for more sophisticated activities such as restoration by classifying differences in lacquer sap by the production area.
