- Abstract
This paper reports the archaeological materials from a unique child burial recently discovered in Tierra del Fuego. Preliminary analyses are consistent with the idea that the burial belongs to the Selk’nam culture. Although the Selk’nam archaeological record is abundant, very little is known about their mortuary practices. In this well-preserved burial, the human remains were accompanied by an unusual set of grave goods, which have not been described in the archaeological literature for this region. Radiocarbon dating places this burial at the beginning of the Post-Columbian period in Tierra del Fuego (331–499 cal BP). Analyses presented herein include information on the sex, diet, and genetics of the child, which provided the first genetic evidence for the presence of mitochondrial sub-haplogroup D1g5 in the Selk’nam population in Tierra de Fuego. We also provide a detailed description of the cultural materials, which include mammal and bird bones and lithic material. This is a unique find because it possesses a wealth of archaeological materials that are previously unknown in the region.

International audience; During the Post-classic, the Mexican state of Michoacán was occupied by the Tarascan culture. Archaeological studies conducted in the Zacapu area have clarified the social organization of this group. The study of faunal remains found in the Malpaís Prieto site represents a first insight on the relation between man and animals and the subsistence strategies developed by its inhabitants. It indicates a large exploitation of the various environments surrounding the site, in particular in domestic context. Commensal animals and those living in swamp area are the most abundant, while funerary contexts show less diversity, with mostly deer and vulture remains. This study leads us to question the accuracy of ethno-historic sources when dealing with animal exploitation, and gives a glimpse on the possible high symbolism of some of the taxa used in ritual activities. - Abstract
Objective: Nicotinamide nucleotide transhydrogenase (NNT), one of the several genes recently discovered in familial glucocorticoid deficiencies (FGD), is involved in reactive oxygen species detoxification, suggesting that extra-adrenal manifestations may occur, due to the sensitivity to oxidative stress of other organs rich in mitochondria. Here, we sought to identify NNT mutations in a large cohort of patients with primary congenital adrenal insufficiency without molecular etiology and evaluate the degree of adrenal insufficiency and onset of extra-adrenal damages. Methods: Sanger or massive parallel sequencing of NNT and patient monitoring. Results: Homozygous or compound heterozygous NNT mutations occurred frequently (26%, 13 unrelated families, 18 patients) in our cohort. Seven new mutations were identified: p.Met337Val, p.Ala863Glu, c.3G>A (p.Met1?), p.Arg129∗, p.Arg379∗, p.Val665Profs∗29 and p.Ala704Serfs∗19. The most frequent mutation, p.Arg129∗, was found recurrently in patients from Algeria. Most patients were diagnosed belatedly (8-18 months) after presenting severe hypoglycemia; others experiencing stress conditions were diagnosed earlier. Five patients also had mineralocorticoid deficiency at onset. One patient had congenital hypothyroidism and two cryptorchidism. In follow-up, we noticed gonadotropic and genitalia impairments (precocious puberty, testicular inclusions, interstitial Leydig cell adenoma, azoospermia), hypothyroidism and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Intrafamilial phenotype heterogeneity was also observed. Conclusions: NNT should be sequenced, not only in FGD, but also in all primary adrenal insufficiencies for which the most frequent etiologies have been ruled out. As NNT is involved in oxidative stress, careful follow-up is needed to evaluate mineralocorticoid biosynthesis extent, and gonadal, heart and thyroid function., SCOPUS: ar.j, info:eu-repo/semantics/published

- Abstract
During the Post-classic, the Mexican state of Michoacán was occupied by the Tarascan culture. This study leads us to question the accuracy of ethno-historic sources when dealing with animal exploitation, and gives a glimpse on the possible high symbolism of some of the taxa used in ritual activities., Durante el Posclásico (900-1521 dC), el estado de Michoacán (México) estaba dominado por la cultura tarasca.

In the southernmost part of the American continent, southern Patagonia was for almost 10 millennia the territory of hunter groups that have survived the traditional limits of prehistoric times, with a way of life and subsistence based on acquisition of resources through hunting, fishing and gathering. This doctoral work presents the results of the first study conducted on bird assemblages. Seven archaeological sitesadding up more than 20 000 specimens, were taken into account:- five of them are located in the area historically occupied by canoeros Indians: four deposits are dated to the 3rd and 4th millennia (Punta Santa Ana, Bahía Buena, Englefied 1 and Bahía Colorada) and one site of the 17th century AD;- two of them are located in the zone of the terrestrial hunters (Punta María 2 and San Pablo 4), both also occupied in the 17th century of our era.Thirty-nine species were identified, which is not much compared to the 200 bird species available in the region. A small number of species has been preferentially hunted, accompanied by a variable but small number (2 to 18) of minor taxa. In sites in canoeros territory, the cormorants systematically dominate the assemblages, where they represent 75 to 100% of the birds. In terrestrial hunter sites, this massive dominance of a taxon does not appear. All these taxa have common characteristics: average size, species from coastal environments, present all or most of the year, mostly gregarious or fairly easy to approach.

International audience; The Antarctic Shag can be discriminated from its congeners by five osteological characters. Using these characters, we were able to identify bones of this species in five shell middens located in southern Fuego-Patagonia. The temporal distribution of these elements extends from historical times (280 YBP) to the middle Holocene (6,100 YBP). These extra-limital birds may have reached Fuegian waters through chance events, by postbreeding dispersal, or as vagrants from a yet undiscovered Fuegian colony. We discuss the implication of these and other findings on the specific status of the Antarctic Shag and its sympatry with the Imperial Shag. The current designation of the Antarctic Shag is proposed as Notocarbo bransfieldensis (Friedmann 1945).

Movalli, Paola et al., The chemical industry is the leading sector in the EU in terms of added value. However, contaminants pose a major threat and significant costs to the environment and human health. While EU legislation and international conventions aim to reduce this threat, regulators struggle to assess and manage chemical risks, given the vast number of substances involved and the lack of data on exposure and hazards. The European Green Deal sets a ‘zero pollution ambition for a toxic free environment’ by 2050 and the EU Chemicals Strategy calls for increased monitoring of chemicals in the environment. Monitoring of contaminants in biota can, inter alia: provide regulators with early warning of bioaccumulation problems with chemicals of emerging concern; trigger risk assessment of persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic substances; enable risk assessment of chemical mixtures in biota; enable risk assessment of mixtures; and enable assessment of the effectiveness of risk management measures and of chemicals regulations overall. A number of these purposes are to be addressed under the recently launched European Partnership for Risk Assessment of Chemicals (PARC). Apex predators are of particular value to biomonitoring. Securing sufficient data at European scale implies large-scale, long-term monitoring and a steady supply of large numbers of fresh apex predator tissue samples from across Europe. Natural science collections are very well-placed to supply these. Pan-European monitoring requires effective coordination among field organisations, collections and analytical laboratories for the flow of required specimens, processing and storage of specimens and tissue samples, contaminant analyses delivering pan-European data sets, and provision of specimen and population contextual data. Collections are well-placed to coordinate this. The COST Action European Raptor Biomonitoring Facility provides a well-developed model showing how this can work, integrating a European Raptor Biomonitoring Scheme, Specimen Bank and Sampling Programme. Simultaneously, the EU-funded LIFE APEX has demonstrated a range of regulatory applications using cutting-edge analytical techniques. PARC plans to make best use of such sampling and biomonitoring programmes. Collections are poised to play a critical role in supporting PARC objectives and thereby contribute to delivery of the EU’s zero-pollution ambition., This paper was carried out in collaboration between ‘European Raptor Biomonitoring Facility’ (COST Action 16224), and the project ‘LIFE APEX—Systematic use of contaminant data from apex predators and their prey in chemicals management’ (LIFE17 ENV/SK/000355). European Raptor Biomonitoring Facility is supported by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology) and funded by the Horizon 2020 Framework Programme of the European Union. LIFE APEX is funded by the LIFE Programme, the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action.

Blended-learn training and pedagogical scenarios is an extensive re- search literature. But in Grade/Middle/High school, it could take other forms. Based on a theoretical anchoring of Blended-learning in the university context, we put forward hypotheses as to the possible contextualization in elementary- secondary education. The context of confinement that occurred in France in March-June 2020 triggers new questions about the possible new blend-learning forms, in Grade/Middle/High school [4] through changes in space and time. Analyses are still in progress but first elements lead to revisit current knowledge about the ways in which it would be possible articulation presence-distance at school.

New technologies allow teachers and students to access many online teaching and learning resources with, among other specificities, a wide variety of organization and feedback. Thus, we can observe a proliferation of numerical propositions promising to tackle the grammatical dimension of the language. What is the scientific knowledge that makes it possible to apprehend them? To our knowledge, no contribution has addressed this question. We present a typol- ogy of 6 analyzers based on knowledge from fields of research deemed enlight- ening (didactics of grammar and writing, cognitive psychology, psycholinguis- tics, digital learning). Examples of available tools are given. We conclude on the needs that seem to us as the most pressing such as drawing a global picture through a systematic review based on the typology of analyzers provided., Les nouvelles technologies permettent aux enseignants et aux élèves d’accéder à de nombreuses ressources pédagogiques et didactiques en ligne avec, entre autres spécificités, une grande variété d’organisation et de rétroactions. National audience; Teacher training institutions train their students on a vocational prin- ciple which involves trainees alternating between the training institution and a practical on-the-job work placement. In this context, students are supported in various ways. DigiTrainer, the platform presented in this poster, allows us to work on this support based on the principle that feedback from students in training is an effective means of enabling teacher trainers to improve their performance. Using standard questionnaires, the platform allows the posture and the methods of support to be determined. The tool also makes it possible to analyse the training interviews by analysing speech turns, identifying the speakers and the proportion of their respective speeches.
