Recent studies have highlighted that circular RNAs regulate cancer-related genes’ expression by functioning as microRNA sponges in cancers. Herein, we investigated the function and molecular mechanism of circYIPF6 in glioma.

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and its copolymers are promising candidates for energy-harvesting devices because of their flexibility, environmental friendliness, lightweight, and high halogen and acid resistance. However, the relatively low piezoelectricity limits their applications. The piezoelectricity of PVDF and its copolymers highly depends on the polar β-phase, while the non-polar α-phase is the most common one. As a result, the β-phase formation and α- to β-phase transformation have attracted much attention in recent years. Stretching is a widely used method to induce the α- to β-phase transformation for the improvement of piezoelectricity. In this work, the influences of the parameters during stretching on phase evolution and piezoelectricity are discussed and summarized. Besides, nontraditional stretching methods are also introduced and discussed. This work will provide important information for preparing high-performance piezoelectric polymer films.

As a representative flexible piezoelectric polymer, polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and its copolymers have been widely used in energy harvesters and piezoelectric sensors. In this work, hybrid nanocomposite films were prepared by adding a small amount of carbon black (CB) and Ni nanoparticles to the poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) matrix using the solution casting method, followed by stretching and poling to increase the electroactive β-phase content. The results show that the hybrid fillers consisting of 0.3 wt% CB and 0.1 wt% Ni nanoparticles exhibit the best piezoelectric performance. The maximum output voltage of the PVDF-HFP/CB/Ni films reaches 3.5 V under 1 mm micro-vibration, which is 75% higher than that of pure PVDF-HFP films. Characterization results by X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectrometry, and differential scanning calorimeter analysis show that the hybrid fillers are more effective in promoting the phase transformation from the α-phase to the β-phase in the matrix due to synergistic effect.

In order to explore the impact of the enterprise's right, responsibility and profit risk mechanism on the enterprise's ESG behavior improvement strategy in the context of carbon emission reduction, this study uses Matlab to build a new energy enterprise cooperation game network model and establish the NW small world initial network. According to the process and result of multi-agent complex network game, this paper analyzes the strategic choice and development factors of ESG behavior in new energy enterprises. It is found that when the awareness of executives increases, the profits of enterprises will increase, but the spread of ESG behavior improvement is not significant; When the competitive intensity of enterprises increases, the profits of enterprises with ESG behavior improvement will decrease, and the diffusion of ESG behavior improvement strategy will be slow. When the price of carbon trading increases, the income of enterprises adopting ESG behavior will increase, but the sensitivity of carbon trading price to the expansion of enterprise network is not significant.

Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and its copolymers have been widely studied due to their excellent piezoelectricity and ferroelectricity. In this study, composite films are prepared by adding Ni nanoparticles (0.00–0.3 wt%) into poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF–HFP) matrix by solution casting, uniaxial stretching, and high electric field poling. It is found that when the maximum electric field E max for poling is 130 MV m−1, the calibrated open circuit voltage of the pure PVDF–HFP films reaches 3.12 V, which is much higher than those poled by a lower electric field (70 MV m−1: 1.40 V; 90 MV m−1: 2.29 V). This result shows that the effect of poling on the generated output voltage is decisive. By adding 0.1 wt% Ni nanoparticles, it increases to 3.84 V, 23% higher than that of the pure PVDF–HFP films. To further understand the enhancement mechanism, the effects of Ni nanoparticles on initial crystallization, uniaxial stretching, and high electric field poling are investigated by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry.

Backgrounds: Sleep disturbances are prevalent among elderly individuals. While polysomnography (PSG) serves as the gold standard for sleep monitoring, its extensive setup and data analysis procedures impose significant costs and time constraints, thereby restricting the long-term application within the general public. Our laboratory introduced an innovative biomarker, utilizing artificial intelligence algorithms applied to PSG data to estimate brain age (BA), a metric validated in cohorts with cognitive impairments. Nevertheless, the potential of exercise, which has been a recognized means of enhancing sleep quality in middle-aged and older adults to reduce BA, remains undetermined. Methods: We conducted an exploratory study to evaluate whether 12 weeks of moderate-intensity exercise can improve cognitive function, sleep quality, and the brain age index (BAI), a biomarker computed from overnight sleep electroencephalogram (EEG), in physically inactive middle-aged and older adults. Home wearable devices were used to monitor heart rate and overnight sleep EEG over this period. The NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery, in-lab overnight polysomnography, cardiopulmonary exercise testing, and a multiplex cytokines assay were employed to compare pre- and post-exercise brain health, exercise capacity, and plasma proteins. Results: In total, 26 participants completed the initial assessment and exercise program, and 24 completed all procedures. Data are presented as mean [lower 95% CI of mean, upper 95% CI of mean]. Participants significantly increased maximal oxygen consumption (Pre: 21.11 [18.98, 23.23], Post 22.39 [20.09, 24.68], mL/kg/min; effect size: −0.33) and decreased resting heart rate (Pre: 66.66 [63.62, 67.38], Post: 65.13 [64.25, 66.93], bpm; effect size: −0.02) and sleeping heart rate (Pre: 64.55 [61.87, 667.23], Post: 62.93 [60.78, 65.09], bpm; effect size: −0.15). Total cognitive performance (Pre: 111.1 [107.6, 114.6], Post: 115.2 [111.9, 118.5]; effect size: 0.49) was significantly improved. No significant differences were seen in BAI or measures of sleep macro- and micro-architecture. Plasma IL-4 (Pre: 0.24 [0.18, 0.3], Post: 0.33 [0.24, 0.42], pg/mL; effect size: 0.49) was elevated, while IL-8 (Pre: 5.5 [4.45, 6.55], Post: 4.3 [3.66, 5], pg/mL; effect size: −0.57) was reduced. Conclusions: Cognitive function was improved by a 12-week moderate-intensity exercise program in physically inactive middle-aged and older adults, as were aerobic fitness (VO2max) and plasma cytokine profiles. However, we found no measurable effects on sleep architecture or BAI. It remains to be seen whether a study with a larger sample size and more intensive or more prolonged exercise exposure can demonstrate a beneficial effect on sleep quality and brain age. Due to low starch content and poor seed vigor, sweet corn seeds exhibit poor storage stability. Therefore, understanding the physiological and biochemical changes in seeds after natural aging is crucial for assessing seed status and extending the storage period. This study aims to investigate the physiological, biochemical, and ultrastructural changes in aged seeds of different genotypes. An eight-month natural aging experiment was conducted on 10 sweet corn inbred lines. The results showed an obvious decrease in germination potential, germination ratio, germination index, and vigor index after natural aging, and two inbred lines with stronger tolerance to natural aging were identified from the 10 inbred lines studied. In aged seeds, levels of gibberellin, abscisic acid, total protein, total starch, as well as activities of antioxidant enzymes, lipoxygenase, and amylase, and malondialdehyde (MDA) content, exhibited significant differences among inbred lines. Correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation among four seed vigor indices and a highly negative correlation between seed vigor indices and MDA content. Germination ratio, germination index, and vigor index displayed a highly negative correlation with lipoxygenase activity. Furthermore, starch granule decomposition was observed in the endosperm of low-vigor inbred lines, contrary to amylase activity. Thus, this study indicates variations in seed vigor, biochemical indicators, and the ultrastructure of aged sweet corn seeds among different genotypes. Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) and its copolymers exhibit excellent piezoelectric properties and are potential materials for high efficiency energy harvesting devices. In this study, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) films are prepared by the solution casting method. The prepared film is then subjected to mechanical stretching and poling process. By adjusting the temperature of the poling process and the elongation ratio of the mechanical stretching process, the relative content of β-phase F(β) increases significantly, leading to high piezoelectric performance. The maximum output voltage of the PVDF-HFP films poled at 40°C reaches 3.67 V, 71% higher than that of the films poled at room temperature. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy analysis (FTIR), XRD (X-ray diffraction), and differential scanning calorimetry are used to investigate the influences of mechanical stretching and poling process on the crystal structure to discover the enhancement mechanism. This work provides a straightforward and low-cost route to prepare high piezoelectric PVDF-HFP-based materials.

Objective To investigate the molecular mechanism of HK2 on promoting cell proliferation and migration through p-ERK1/2 in cervical cancer cell line HeLa. Methods Expression of HK2 in cervical cancer cell lines was detected by Western blot and immunocychemistry. Over-expressed HK2 cell line(HeLa-HK2) was established by using G418. Wound-healing and Transwell cells assays were used to detect the migratory and invasive potential in HeLa-HK2 and in control cell lines. Cell growth curves, MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to detect cell proliferation, cell viability and cell cycle. The expression of ERK1/2, p-ERK1/2, cyclin A and Slug was detected by using Western blot and immunocytochemistry. The ERK inhibitor (FR180204) was used to inhibit expression of ERK1/2 and p-ERK1/2, and the potential of cell proliferation, migration and invasion was observed in these cells. Results HeLa-HK2 cells that stably expressing HK2 was successfully constructed. HK2 enhanced cell migration, invasion and growth potential in HeLa cells. The expression of ERK1/2, p-ERK1/2, cyclin A and Slug was higher in HeLa-HK2 cells than those in control cells. The protein level of ERK1/2, p-ERK1/2, cyclin A and Slug was decreased in FR180204 treated HeLa-HK2 cells, and the potential of growth, migratory and invasive were also attenuated by FR180204 in HeLa-HK2 cells. Conclusions HK2 promotes cell growth, migration and invasion in HeLa cells by up-regulating expression of cyclin A and Slug through stimulating p-ERK1/2.
