The transition to hybrid and online instruction during the 2020 pandemic presented unprecedented challenges to the field of art education. This resulted in newly formed communities of inquiry and support, representing a wide range of technological skills and teaching experience. This article spotlights the Michigan Art Education Association (MAEA) Higher Education Division as an example of one such group. In March 2020, the members of MAEA, started holding triweekly Zoom meetings to discuss their new roles as online art educators. Over 10 months, they bonded and provided social-emotional support, becoming a collaborative inquiry professional development group. Because technology is integral to online and hybrid teaching practices, they chose a theoretical model called Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, Redefinition (SAMR) to anchor their triweekly MAEA conversations. The SAMR model contextualized their uses of technology in relation to their pedagogical approaches; it provided a common language to describe and explain how and why they use technologies to meet specific goals and objectives. In this article, they share their stories with hope of inspiring others to form similar transformational groups.

Despite the massive advances in artificial intelligence (AI) alongside the saturation of digital technologies in society, the domain of art education has experienced little change to account for the fact that humans are not the only content creators. Recent movements in art education--including but not limited to visual culture, choice-based art, and social justice--oriented curricula--generally assume an anthropocentric perspective. This means that the content being experienced is assumed to have been created by other humans and does not provide a clear way to engage with nonhuman content. The intention of this article is to make discussion of posthuman concepts reasonable, approachable, and urgent for digital art educators.

The authors explore ways for art educators to address the functioning of facial detection algorithms and their potential issues through critical race theory (CRT). Topics discussed include the censoring of CRT across the U.S., the significance of biometric data privacy, and examples of algorithms that perpetuate racism.

Simple Summary: We aim to understand the relationship between the size of the defect to clear basal cell carcinoma (BCC) using Mohs Micrographic Surgery (MMS) and patient demographics, as well as the relationship between the number of MMS stages and BCC subtypes. In a large retrospective study involving 7651 patients with BCC who underwent MMS, our analyses demonstrated that a higher clearance margin was associated with increased age and that an increase in the number of MMS stages was associated with higher-risk BCC. By monitoring outliers in MMS practice patterns to identify financial burdens and unnecessary surgery, it may be important to further account for patient demographics as well as tumor factors. How patient and tumor factors influence clearance margins and the number of Mohs Micrographic Surgery (MMS) stages when treating basal cell carcinoma (BCC) remains widely uncharacterized. It is important to elucidate these relationships, as surgical outcomes may be compared nationally between colleagues. Our objective is to evaluate the relationships between defect size and patient demographics, as well as between BCC subtypes and the number of MMS stages. Our second objective is to compare practice patterns and characteristics of patients requiring MMS at academic centers and private practices. A retrospective chart review was performed using data collected at academic centers (2015–2018) and private practices (2011–2018) of BCC patients older than 18 years old who underwent MMS. In total, 7651 patients with BCC requiring MMS were identified. Academic center adjusted analyses demonstrated clearance margins 0.1 mm higher for every year's increase in age (p < 0.0001) and 0.25 increase in MMS stages for high-risk BCC (p < 0.0001). Private practice adjusted analyses demonstrated clearance margins 0.04 mm higher for every year's increase in age (p < 0.0001). Clearance margins correlate with older age, and additional MMS stages correlate with high-risk BCC, suggesting the role patient and tumor factors may play in predicting tumor clearance and MMS stages. The continued development and emergence of creative machines and computational creativity provokes certain questions that audit ontological and epistemological assumptions. Creative artificial intelligence challenges computer scientists, digital artists, and art educators to clarify or reconceptualize their notions of cognition and creativity. The article starts by addressing the increase in AI algorithms in both daily life and formal education settings to begin highlighting the shared investment across domains. The focus is then narrowed down to highlight creative machines and digital artmaking. By exploring the statements and artworks from computer scientists and digital artists, correlations to art education pedagogical approaches are then constructed. This will then lead into a recognition for a need to challenge and examine the ontological and epistemological assumptions present in art education. Finally, a new material theoretical framework for digital art education pedagogy is proposed to reorient discussions to ask new questions regarding increasingly creative machines and the experiences and education of students in the visual arts. The application of the various ring-expansion reactions of [gamma]-silyloxy-[gamma]-lactams for the synthesis of different medium-sized nitrogen heterocycles is demonstrated. The lactams used in the discussed process is shown to be formed by the annulations reactions of the allylic silanes.

Primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma (PCMZL) is a low‐grade B‐cell lymphoma that arises in the skin. An adolescent male presented with dermal nodules on the arms, legs, and back with a positive Darier sign, ultimately diagnosed as PCMZL.
