25. Impacts of visitors on female pheasants in pheasantry, Haripur, Pakistan.

Abstract

Background: The interaction between visitors and captive birds is complex, with a potential impact on bird's behavior and welfare. Understanding this interaction is essential for effective conservation and management. Methods: We conducted a study at the University of Haripur's pheasantry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan to investigate the effects of visitor numbers, duration of visitor presence, and climatic factors on the behavior of female pheasants. We observed the state and events of feeding, hiding, and moving behaviors of 16 randomly selected individuals from five species. Results: The mixed-effects modeling results show that visitors (VT), visitors' presence duration (VPD), and temperature (TP), significantly influence feeding events (p < 0.001), feeding duration (p < 0.001), hiding events (p < 0.001) and hiding duration of female pheasants (p < 0.001). The moving events of pheasants were also significantly affected by both VT and VPD (VT: p = 0.002, VPD: p < 0.001). Moreover, under high visitor conditions, the impact of VPD on the behavior of female pheasants was more pronounced (p < 0.001). Additionally, our result reveals that different species of pheasants exhibit varying sensitivities to human factors and climatic factors. For instance, the two species of female pheasants with the highest feeding and hiding events were the Green pheasant (Phasianus versicolor) and the Ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). While hiding duration of female Green pheasants, female Golden pheasants (Chrysolophus pictus), and female Silver pheasants (Lophura nycthemera) was longer than those of others. The mean number of moving events was highest in females of Ring-necked, followed by Golden pheasants. The female Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus) and female Silver pheasants were the birds with the longest moving duration. Conclusion: Our findings highlight the necessity for customized management strategies, to lessen the effects of human disturbances in pheasantries. Publisher Copyright: © 2023 The Authors Shape memory alloys (SMA) are a class of smart materials with inherent shape memory and superelastic characteristics. Unlike other SMAs, iron-based SMAs (Fe-SMA) offer cost-effectiveness, weldability, and robust mechanical strength for the construction industry. Thus, applying these promising materials to advanced manufacturing processes is of considerable industrial and academic relevance. This study aims to present a pioneer application of a Fe–Mn–Si–Cr–Ni–V-C SMA to arc-based directed energy deposition additive manufacturing, namely wire and arc additive manufacturing (WAAM), examining the microstructure evolution and mechanical/functional response. The WAAM-fabricated Fe-SMAs presented negligible porosity and high deposition efficiency. Microstructure characterization encompassing electron microscopy and high energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction revealed that the as-deposited material is primarily composed by γ FCC phase with modest amounts of VC, ε and σ phases. Tensile and cyclic testing highlighted the Fe-SMA's excellent mechanical and functional response. Tensile testing revealed a yield strength and fracture stress of 472 and 821 MPa, respectively, with a fracture strain of 26%. After uniaxial tensile loading to fracture, the γ → ε phase transformation was clearly evidenced with post-mortem synchrotron X-ray diffraction analysis. The cyclic stability during 100 load/unloading cycles was also evaluated, showcasing the potential applicability of the fabricated material for structural applications. publishersversion published

Abstract

Exponential stability is studied in this paper about nonlinear uncertain vehicle suspension time varying delay system-s. By setting a reasonable augmented Lyapunov-Krasovskii func-tion, using an improved weighted integral inequality to handle the derivative term. Using linear matrix inequalities to represent our proposed sufficient condition of controllable convergence rate and low conservation. Finally, data case simulation is presented to prove the rationality and effectiveness of the controller.

Abstract

This paper is mainly to solve the stability analysis and observation controller-based design of uncertain T-S fuzzy systems with disturbances and time delays. The innovation of this paper is that the system with observer has no uncertainty and disturbance factors, so the system will have better robustness. And the time derivative derived from the systematic trajectory of the constructed augmented Lyapunov Krasovski functional (LKF) contains integral terms, it can be handled by combining the lemma with Jensen’s integral inequality and Wirtinger’s integral inequality. By using different integral inequality methods, the stability results of the studied system are obtained and its conservatism is reduced. Finally, numerical simulation examples are used to verify the results of the proposed method are more effective and feasible than those of existing literatures.
