2. Real-time adaptive sensing of nuclear spins by a single-spin quantum sensor

Abstract

Quantum sensing is considered to be one of the most promising subfields of quantum information to deliver practical quantum advantages in real-world applications. However, its impressive capabilities, including high sensitivity, are often hindered by the limited quantum resources available. Here, we incorporate the expected information gain (EIG) and techniques such as accelerated computation into Bayesian experimental design (BED) in order to use quantum resources more efficiently. A simulated nitrogen-vacancy center in diamond is used to demonstrate real-time operation of the BED. Instead of heuristics, the EIG is used to choose optimal control parameters in real-time. Moreover, combining the BED with accelerated computation and asynchronous operations, we find that up to a tenfold speed-up in absolute time cost can be achieved in sensing multiple surrounding C13 nuclear spins. Our work explores the possibilities of applying the EIG to BED-based quantum-sensing tasks and provides techniques useful to integrate BED into more generalized quantum sensing systems.

4. Super-resolution atomic microscopy using orbit angular momentum laser with temporal modulation

Abstract

In this paper we propose a dark-state-based trapping strategy to break the optical diffraction limit for microscopy. We utilize a spatially dependent coupling field and a probe laser field with temporal and spatial modulation to interact with three-level atoms. The temporal modulation allows us to reduce the full width at half maximum (FWHM) of point spread function, and the spatial modulation help us obtain better spatial resolution than Gaussian beam. In addition, we also propose a proof-of-principle experiment protocol and discuss its feasibility., Comment: In section 4, we say that we use MOT to do experiment. However, now we realize that this experiment proposal is not sufficient. We don't consider the experimental details, such as the arrange of lasers, atomic density, etc. These things are essential important for our proposal. However, we think this difficult cannot be easily solved in short time

7. A theoretical framework for the Hamiltonian of angular momentum optomechanical system

Abstract

Photon carries linear momentum and angular momentum simultaneously. Within the light-matter interaction process, exchange of linear momentum results in optical forces, whereas exchange of angular momentum leads to optical torques. Use of optical forces (light pressure or damping) have been long and wide in quantum optomechanics, however, those of optical torque and optical angular momentum are not. Here we propose a theoretical framework based on optical angular momentum and optical torques to derive the Hamiltonians of cavity orbital and spin angular momentum optomechanical systems, respectively. Moreover, based on the method, we successfully obtain the Hamiltonian of the complex angular momentum optomechanical systems consisting of micro-cavity and several torsional oscillators, whose reflection coefficients are non-unit. Our results indicate the general applicability of our theoretical framework for the Hamiltonian of angular momentum optomechanical systems and extend the research scope of quantum optomechanics.

Abstract

In this study, xylose and arabinose were subjected separately to Maillard reaction with a crude extract of Mactra veneriformis under dry-heating conditions. The immunoreactivity and digestion properties of the Maillard reaction products (MRPs) were analyzed, finding that the Maillard reaction could reduce the immunoreactivity of allergens derived from Mactra veneriformis, increase the continuous digestion rate of the crude extract in simulated gastrointestinal fluid, and reduce the particle diameter of the digestion products. After that, TM in the MRPs was separated and purified, and its structural characteristics and immunoreactivity were analyzed. The results showed that the α-helix content of TM decreased and the β-sheet, β-turn, and random coil contents increased after the Maillard reaction, the surface hydrophobicity increased, and the spatial structure changed, which eventually led to a reduction in the immunoreactivity of TM. This study provides a theoretical basis for the development of hypoallergenic clam products.

Abstract

The quantum Fisher information (QFI) represents a fundamental concept in quantum physics. On the one hand, it quantifies the metrological potential of quantum states in quantum-parameter-estimation measurements. On the other hand, it is intrinsically related to the quantum geometry and multipartite entanglement of many-body systems. Here, we explore how the QFI can be estimated via randomized measurements, an approach which has the advantage of being applicable to both pure and mixed quantum states. In the latter case, our method gives access to the sub-quantum Fisher information, which sets a lower bound on the QFI. We experimentally validate this approach using two platforms: a nitrogen-vacancy center spin in diamond and a 4-qubit state provided by a superconducting quantum computer. We further perform a numerical study on a many-body spin system to illustrate the advantage of our randomized-measurement approach in estimating multipartite entanglement, as compared to quantum state tomography. Our results highlight the general applicability of our method to general quantum platforms, including solid-state spin systems, superconducting quantum computers and trapped ions, hence providing a versatile tool to explore the essential role of the QFI in quantum physics., Comment: 11 pages, 6 figures, comments are welcome

Abstract

Health information sharing has become especially important during the COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) pandemic because people need to learn about the disease and then act accordingly. This study examines the perceived trust of different COVID-19 information sources (health professionals, academic institutions, government agencies, news media, social media, family, and friends) and sharing of COVID-19 information in China. Specifically, it investigates how beliefs about sharing and emotions mediate the effects of perceived source trust on source-specific information sharing intentions. Results suggest that health professionals, academic institutions, and government agencies are trusted sources of information and that people share information from these sources because they think doing so will increase disease awareness and promote disease prevention. People may also choose to share COVID-19 information from news media, social media, and family as they cope with anxiety, anger, and fear. Taken together, a better understanding of the distinct psychological mechanisms underlying health information sharing from different sources can help contribute to more effective sharing of information about COVID-19 prevention and to manage negative emotion contagion during the pandemic.

Abstract

Background: Although current studies have identified sleep disorders as an independent risk factor for suicide, the relationship between sleep disorders and suicide risk has not been well established. This study explored whether anxiety and depressive symptoms are used as mediators to participate in the impact of sleep quality on suicide risk. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. We administered a psychological questionnaire to the participants, using a combination of self-assessment and psychiatrist assessment.Sleep quality, suicide risk, level of anxiety and depressive symptoms were assessed by PSQI, NGASR, SAS and SDS.The study subjects were 391 hospitalized COVID-19 patients from Wuhan hospitals. We used model 6 in the PROCESS (version 3.5) plug-in of SPSS software to conduct mediation test with sleep quality as the independent variable, suicide risk as the dependent variable, level of anxiety and depressive symptoms as intermediate variables. Results: The severity of anxiety and depressive symptoms and the risk of suicide in the sleep disorder group (63.15 ± 13.71, 59.85 ± 13.38, 6.52 ± 3.67) were higher than those in the non-sleep disorder group (49.83 ± 13.14, 44.87 ± 10.19, 2.87 ± 3.26) (P
