Abstract Background Dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy is a rare autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disease. It is a rare disease in the world. Therefore, sharing clinical encounters of this case can deepen global awareness and understanding of the disease. Case presentation The patient was a 34-year-old male of Han nationality who was unmarried. The patient was admitted owing to weakness of the left lower limb with walking instability for 2 months and aggravation for 1 month. There was no dizziness, headache, numbness of limbs, convulsions, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, ataxia, nausea, vomiting, or abdominal pain. No nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal distension, tinnitus, hearing loss, fever, cough, expectoration. Personal history: worked in Cambodia 5 years ago, worked in Dubai 3 years ago, engaged in computer work, smoking or drinking habits. The patient was unmarried. Family history: the mother had symptoms similar to walking unsteadily (undiagnosed). Positive signs include a wide-base gait with a rotatory nystagmus that jumps upward in both eyes. Bilateral finger-nose instability test was quasi-positive, rapid alternating test was negative, and eye closure tolerance test was positive. Tendon reflexes were active in both upper limbs and hyperreflexia in both lower limbs. Stability of the heel, knee, and tibia. Genetic testing showed that the number of repeats in the dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy ATN1 gene was 18 and 62, and the (CAG)n repeat sequence in the ATN1 gene was abnormal, with a repeat number of 62, and the patient was a pathogenic variant. The patient was diagnosed with dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy. Dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy remains a progressive neurodegenerative disease with no effective treatment. At present, the proband is taking 5 mg of buspirone three times a day, which has been reported to improve the symptoms. The patient was followed up for 6 months after taking buspirone, and there was no significant improvement in the temporary symptoms. At present, there are few cases of dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy, and the characteristics of nystagmus in this disease have not been proposed in the past. This case reported the unusual presentation of nystagmus. Conclusion Dentatorubral-pallidoluygur atrophy is a rare neurodegenerative disease with autosomal dominant inheritance. To the best of our knowledge, our present case report is the first case report of dentatorubral-pallidoluygur atrophy with specific nystagmus. We describe the special eye shake and its positive signs to increase dentatorubral-pallidoluysian atrophy clinical positive signs.

Background and purpose: Radical surgery after neoadjuvant immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy (nICT) in patients with locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (LAESCC) has good efficacy and safety, and it can improve the patients’ pathological complete remission (pCR) rate, main pathologic response (MPR) rate and R0 resection rate. The prognosis of patients with pCR/MPR after nICT is significantly better compared with patients without pCR. The prognosis of patients achieving pCR/MPR after neoadjuvant therapy has been demonstrated to be significantly better than that of patients with non-pCR/MPR. Therefore, finding predictive factors of pCR/MPR is beneficial for us to screen out the advantageous populations for combination therapy. The aim of this study was to investigate the value of clinical data of patients with LAESCC before and after nICT in predicting the degree of remission of different pathologies after radical surgery following neoadjuvant treatment and to observe the safety of the treatment. Methods: Data of patients with locally LAESCC who underwent radical surgery after nICT from January 2019 to June 2023 at the Affiliated Hospital of Chuanbei Medical College were collected. The clinical data of all patients as well as some blood, inflammation and nutritional indexes of patients before and after neoadjuvant therapy were collected, and the patients were grouped according to the different degrees of pathological remission after neoadjuvant therapy. Data were analyzed by multi-group comparative analysis of variance (ANOVA) and LSD-t post-hoc test. We explored the factors that had an influence on the different degrees of pathological remission, and collected and recorded the patients’ adverse reactions during neoadjuvant therapy as well as their eventual surgeries. Results: Data of 62 patients with LAESCC treated with nICT who underwent radical surgery were collected. Only one patient showed grade 4 myelosuppression during neoadjuvant therapy, and the rest of the patients had adverse reactions ≤grade 2. The R0 resection rate of the surgery was 98.39%. The present study was compared with the previous studies of LAESCC treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy followed by radical surgery performed in Affiliated Hospital of Chuanbei Medical College. Compared with the previous studies conducted in our center, no significant difference was observed in terms of operation time, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative hospitalization time and surgical complications. The postoperative pathologic results showed that the pCR rate was 22.58% (14/62), and the MPR rate was 40.32% (25/62). IntroductionBroca’s aphasia is a crushing syndrome after stroke. Although there are multiple therapies, the recovery of a considerable number of patients is still not ideal. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) combined with speech and language therapy has been a promising combination regimen in recent years. However, the efficacy and persistent effects thereof remain unclear. We aimed to determine the immediate and long-term effects of rTMS combined with speech and language therapy on subacute stroke patients with Broca’s aphasia and explore relevant mechanisms in the picture-naming task via functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS).Materials and methodsThis was a prospective clinical study. In accordance with the inclusion criteria, 18 patients with post-stroke were recruited and randomly divided into either the rTMS group or the sham-rTMS group. Patients in both groups received low-frequency rTMS therapy for 20 min a day and then speech and language therapy for 30 min a day, 5 days a week, for a total of 4 weeks. Two groups of patients underwent the Western Aphasia Battery Revised (WAB-R), the Stroke and Aphasia Quality of Life Scale-39 (SAQOL-39), and non-language-based cognitive assessment (NLCA) before treatment and at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, and 3 months after treatment. Meanwhile, we collected fNIRS task state data while naming images before and after 4 weeks of treatment. The primary outcome was WAB-R changes. Abstract Background Tau is aberrantly acetylated in various neurodegenerative conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD), and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Previously, we reported that reducing acetylated tau by pharmacologically inhibiting p300-mediated tau acetylation at lysine 174 reduces tau pathology and improves cognitive function in animal models. Methods We investigated the therapeutic efficacy of two different antibodies that specifically target acetylated lysine 174 on tau (ac-tauK174). We treated PS19 mice, which harbor the P301S tauopathy mutation that causes FTLD, with anti-ac-tauK174 and measured effects on tau pathology, neurodegeneration, and neurobehavioral outcomes. Furthermore, PS19 mice received treatment post-TBI to evaluate the ability of the immunotherapy to prevent TBI-induced exacerbation of tauopathy phenotypes. Ac-tauK174 measurements in human plasma following TBI were also collected to establish a link between trauma and acetylated tau levels, and single nuclei RNA-sequencing of post-TBI brain tissues from treated mice provided insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying the observed treatment effects. Results Anti-ac-tauK174 treatment mitigates neurobehavioral impairment and reduces tau pathology in PS19 mice. Ac-tauK174 increases significantly in human plasma 24 h after TBI, and anti-ac-tauK174 treatment of PS19 mice blocked TBI-induced neurodegeneration and preserved memory functions. Anti-ac-tauK174 treatment rescues alterations of microglial and oligodendrocyte transcriptomic states following TBI in PS19 mice. Conclusions The ability of anti-ac-tauK174 treatment to rescue neurobehavioral impairment, reduce tau pathology, and rescue glial responses demonstrates that targeting tau acetylation at K174 is a promising neuroprotective therapeutic approach to human tauopathies resulting from TBI or genetic disease.

[Objective] In order to solve the problem of uniformity of ice crystal distribution in the process of ice slurry filling. [Methods] Taking broccoli as the research object, the physical model of packing broccoli in carton was established, and the effects of ice filling speed and ice filling Angle on ice crystal distribution uniformity during the ice filling process were analyzed by CFD simulation, so as to determine appropriate ice filling process parameters. [Results] The ice-filling speed and filling angle significantly impact the uniformity of ice crystal distribution. Both excessively low and high ice-filling speeds were detrimental to achieving uniform ice distribution. Tilting the filling angle results in inadequate coverage of fluidized ice on the upper layers of broccoli within the container. [Conclusion] Maintaining a horizontal angle and an ice-filling speed of 3 m/s yields the most uniform distribution of ice crystals, meeting the pre-cooling requirements for broccoli and enabling a certain duration of low-temperature storage.

The integration of information technology, particularly the Internet, with the tourism industry has laid a solid foundation for the widespread popularity of online tourism. Online tourism offers numerous advantages such as being unconstrained by time, space, and region, having low costs, and providing strong interactive features, making it increasingly popular worldwide. Nevertheless, not all individuals are willing to adopt online tourism, and the factors and mechanisms that influence online tourism require further investigation. This study aims to examine the factors that influence the intention to adopt online tourism by integrating the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), and the Generic Learning Outcomes (GLOs). Using the Yunyou Dunhuang Online Program (云游敦煌), the current study invited tourists to participate in the online tourism experience, and collected 536 pieces of data. The results of structural equation modeling reveal that: (1) attitude toward using and perceived usefulness positively predict behavioral intention to use; (2) perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, and subjective norm significantly and positively predict attitude toward using; (3) perceived ease of use significantly and positively predicted perceived usefulness, while knowledge and understanding, activity, behavior, and progression had no significant effect on perceived usefulness; (4) knowledge and understanding positively predicted perceived ease of use, while activity, behavior, and progression had no significant effect on perceived ease of use. This study explores the factors influencing online tourism adoption intention in a comprehensive way. The findings hold practical significance for the design of online tourism programs for intangible cultural heritage, providing theoretical guidance for cultural heritage and development.

Abstract BackgroundThere are positive and negative correlations in different directions between smoking, personality traits, and health-related quality of life (HRQOL), where smoking may mask the pathway between personality traits and HRQOL. Understanding the masking pathway of smoking between personality traits and HRQOL can elucidate the mechanisms of smoking’s psychosocial effects and provide new ideas for developing tobacco control strategies. ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between Big Five personality traits and HRQOL and whether smoking mediates the relationship between them. MethodsThis was a cross-sectional study using data from 21,916 respondents from the 2022 Psychology and Behavior Investigation of Chinese Residents survey. Linear regression models were used to analyze the correlations between smoking, Big Five personality traits, and HRQOL while controlling for potential confounders. The mediating role of smoking on the association between Big Five Personality traits and HRQOL was analyzed using the Sobel-Goodman mediation test. ResultsExtraversion (β=.001; PPPPzPzPzPzPzPzPzP ConclusionsThis study provided evidence that there is a correlation between personality traits and HRQOL. It also found that smoking plays a role in mediating the connection between personality traits and HRQOL. The development of future tobacco control strategies should consider the unique traits of each individual’s personality, highlighting the significance of extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.

Abstract Background There may be unexplored interactions between family health, personality, and smoking that could help provide new perspectives on tobacco control. Objective To examine the relationship between the health of one’s family and their smoking habits, as well as investigate the potential influence of personality on this relationship. Methods For this cross-sectional investigation, a national survey conducted in China in 2022 recruited a total of 21,916 individuals. The Family Health Scale was utilized to assess the health of the family. The 10-item Big Five Inventory scale was utilized to assess the Big five personality traits. The relationship between big five personality, family health, and smoking were investigated using binary and linear logistic regression. The indirect effects mediated by Big five personality were analyzed using mediation analysis with Sobel tests, and the indirect effects were composited using the Karlson-Holm-Breen method. Results The overall prevalence of smoking in the study population was 14.87%, 26.19% for males and 3.54% for females. Urban and rural smoking prevalence was 13.81% and 16.10% respectively. An ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for the determination of the residues of prometryn and its metabolites in aquatic products was developed using a modified quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged and safe (QuEChERS) method for sample pretreatment. Homogenized samples were extracted with acetonitrile and purified by the combined use of enhanced matrix removal of lipids (EMR-Lipid) and Cleanert LipoNo. The detection was carried out in the positive ion mode with selected reaction monitoring (SRM) and the internal standard method was selected for quantification. Under the optimal conditions, the calibration curves for prometryn and its four metabolites were linear with correlation coefficient (R2) above 0.992 in the concentration range of 1–500 ng/mL. The limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantitation (LOQs) for all analytes were as low as 0.20 and 0.50 μg/kg, respectively. For spiked grass carp, crayfish and Chinese mitten crab, good accuracy and precision were observed, with average recoveries and relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 74.4% to 113.7% and 3.17% to 11.47%, respectively. After correction by the internal standard method, the matrix effects of the five compounds in different aquatic products were not significant. The developed method allows the identification and quantitative analysis of the residues of prometryn and its metabolites in aquatic products. Additionally, the applicability of this method was validated by detecting positive samples of crayfish bathed with prometryn.
