Abstract

After the groundbreaking work of Erd$\ddot{o}$s-R$\acute{e}$nyi random graph, the random networks has made great progress in recent years. One of the eye-catching modeling is time-varying random network model capable of encoding the instantaneous time description of the network dynamics. To further describe the random duration time for the nodes to be inactive, we herein propose a dinner party anomalous random networks model, and derive the analytical solution of the probability density function for the node being active at a given time. Moreover, we investigate the gift delivery and viral transmission in dinner party random networks. This work provides new quantitative insights in describing random networks, and could help model other uncertainty phenomena in real networks.

2. Anomalous Random Neural Networks: a Special Renewal Process

Abstract

In this paper we propose an open anomalous semi-Markovian random neural networks model with negative and positive signals with arbitrary random waiting times. We investigate the signal flow process in the anomalous random neural networks based on renewal process, and obtain the corresponding master equation for time evolution of the probability of the potential of the neurons. As examples, we discuss the special cases of exponential waiting times and power law ones, and find the fractional memory effect of the probability of the system state on its history evolution. Besides, the closed random neural networks model is introduced and the corresponding rate equation is given.

3. Chemical Continuous Time Random Walks under Anomalous Diffusion

Abstract

Chemical master equation plays an important role to describe the time evolution of homogeneous chemical system. In addition to the reaction process, it is also accompanied by physical diffusion of the reactants in complex system that is generally not homogeneous, which will result in non-exponential waiting times for particle reactions and diffusion. In this paper we shall introduce a chemical continuous time random walk under anomalous diffusion model based on renewal process to describe the general reaction-diffusion process in the heterogeneous system, where the waiting times are arbitrary distributed. According to this model, we will develop the systematic stochastic theory including generalizing the chemical diffusion master equation, deriving the corresponding mass action law, and extending the Gillespie algorithm. As an example, we analyze the monomolecular $A\leftrightarrow B$ reaction-diffusion system for exponential and power-law waiting times respectively, and show the strong fractional memory effect of the concentration of the reactants on the history of the concentration in power-law case.

Abstract

Background Thyroid cancer (TC) is the most common malignant tumor of the endocrine system, and its incidence has increased rapidly in recent years. Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is the most common type of thyroid cancer, accounting for 80% of all thyroid cancers. Despite the efficacy of surgical treatment, radioactive iodine therapy, TSH inhibition therapy and novel targeted drug therapy, early diagnosis and intervention are the key to stop its occurrence and development, however, the sensitivity indexes related to PTC are still lacking in clinical practice. Objective To investigate the correlation between lipid metabolism, inflammatory markers and sex of patients with PTC. Methods The data of PTC patients (n=370) diagnosed and treated in the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from January 2018 to December 2020 were selected for retrospective analysis, and the normal population of physical examination in the same period was matched according to age and gender as the control group (n=1 112). Age, gender, smoking status, BMI, peripheral blood white blood cell count (WBC), platelet count (PLT), lymphocyte count (LYM), monocyte count (MON), neutrophil count (NEU), fasting blood glucose (FBG), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total cholesterol (TC), were collected in both groups, triacylglycerol (TG), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), urea (UREA), creatinine (Cr), and uric acid (UA), and calculate the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and monocyte-to-HDL cholesterol ratio (MHR). Analyze the correlation between the above indicators and PTC and their diagnostic value. Abstract

ObjectiveTo analyze the epidemiological features and influencing factors of rabies in Shanxi Province，and to provide evidence to further promote the elimination of rabies in Shanxi Province.MethodsThe incidence data of rabies in Shanxi from 2011 to 2022 were collected and subjected to descriptive analysis.ResultsFrom 2011 to 2022， a total of 348 rabies cases were reported in Shanxi Province， with an average annual incidence of 0.080 3/105. The incidence of rabies showed a downward trend overall. The highest incidence was in August. The cases were mainly farmers， mostly males， and most cases were reported between 50 and 69 years old. The data of cases showed that dogs were the main animals attacking human （93.96%）. The incubation period of most cases was 1‒3 months （37.37%）.The main exposure site was hand（51.33%）. Only 2.66% cases with grade Ⅲ exposure were injected with passive immune agents.ConclusionThe incidence of rabies in Shanxi Province continues to decrease， but there are still loopholes in prevention and control measures. It is necessary to strengthen the management and immunization of dogs，health education， and standardized procedures after exposure to maintain the achievements in the prevention and control of rabies.

50. Homicide Incidents Involving Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder as Victims Reported in the US News Media, 2000-2019

Abstract

Recent research indicates that children with autism are at increased risk of maltreatment. We examined news media reports on homicide incidents involving children with autism as victims in the United States between 2000 and 2019. Of the 52 victims studied, 47 (90.4%) were male. Age of victims ranged from 2 to 20 years (mean = 10.4 ± 5.3 years). Parents and other caregivers accounted for 63.5% and 13.5% of the perpetrators, respectively. The leading injury mechanism was gunshot wounds (23.1%), followed by drowning (19.2%), and suffocation, strangulation, or asphyxiation (19.2%). The most commonly cited contributing factor (47.1%) was overwhelming stress from caring for the autistic child. These results underscore the importance of supporting services for caregivers of children with autism.
