Phosphate-based glasses are known for their excellent biocompatibility and adjustable degradation rates. In this study, we fabricated a rapidly soluble zinc-ion-releasing phosphate-based glass (RG) specifically designed for use in dental cavity liners. The aim of this study was to evaluate the ion-releasing properties and antibacterial effects of RG. Additionally, a dental resin incorporating RG was fabricated to serve as a cavity liner, and its effectiveness was investigated in vitro. The RG formulation exhibited high solubility and released high concentrations of Zn2+ at various pH values. To assess the antibacterial properties of RG, six bacterial species detected in deep carious regions were incubated in the presence of RG. In vitro antibacterial testing against six bacterial species revealed that RG exhibited strong bactericidal effects against these prevalent bacteria. Furthermore, using a dentin model infected with Lactobacillus casei or Streptococcus mutans, the experimental resin containing RG demonstrated an effective bactericidal effect in the dentinal tubules, highlighting its potential as a promising material for cavity liners or pulp-capping applications. The complex vortex structure compressor leads to the problem that the transition model is insufficient in predicting the flow instability of the compressor. In this paper, the rectangular cascade of compressor of different turning-angle conditions is taken as the object, and the transition characteristics on the end wall and the blade surface of the compressor cascade are in comparison by the method of large eddy simulation/LES. The effects of the horseshoe vortex and the separation bubble over the compressor cascade on the transition process are emphatically discussed. By analyzing characteristic parameters of the vortex structure, it is found that the separated transitional flow corresponds to multiple separations-and reattachments of the shedding vortex, and is affected by the cross-flow transition and the separate-transition. Finally, by discussing the instability of the separation line, reattachment line and the cross-flow inflection point of the separated transitional flow, it reveals that the transient disturbance caused by the vortex motion is an important reason affecting the prediction accuracy of the transition model. Three novel hexagonal Si–C–N structures, namely SiC3N3, SiC7N6, and SiC13N14, were constructed on the basis of the α-Si3N4 crystal structure. The stability of the three structures is demonstrated by analyzing their elastic constants and phonon dispersion spectra and by calculating their formation energies. The calculated band structures and partial densities of states suggest that the SiC3N3 and SiC7N6 structures possess hole conductivity. The electron orbital analyses indicate that the SiC3N3 and SiC7N6 crystals possess three-dimensional and one-dimensional conductivity, respectively. SiC13N14 is a semiconductor with a wide bandgap of 4.39 eV. Based on two different hardness models and indentation shear stress calculations, the Vickers hardness values of SiC3N3, SiC7N6, and SiC13N14 are estimated to be 28.04/28.45/16.18 GPa, 31.17/34.19/20.24 GPa, and 40.60/41.59/36.40 GPa. This result indicates that SiC3N3 and SiC7N6 are conductive hard materials while SiC13N14 is a quasi superhard material. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The search for carbon allotropes with exotic electrical and mechanical properties is one of frontier topics in materials science. In this work, we proposed a carbon allotrope, namely moC12, with unexpected one-dimensional metallicity, superconductivity and mechanical anisotropy via first-principles calculations. This novel carbon allotrope contains 12 atoms in its unit cell with interatomic connections via sp2–sp3 hybridization, forming a three-dimensional spatial sandwich panel anisotropic structure. The dynamic and mechanical stability of the new structure in the ambient state is demonstrated. The one-dimensional conductivity originates from the one-dimensional conductive channel constituted between the sp2-hybridized atoms, while in other directions this conductive channel is interrupted by the residual sp3-hybridized carbon atoms. Moreover, moC12 is superconductive, with a superconducting critical temperature of 2.14 K. The unique three-dimensional spatial sandwich panel anisotropic structure endows moC12 with excellent toughness and also exhibits intense mechanical anisotropy including elasticity and tensile stress–strain.
