4. An overview on development of external-combustion wave rotor pressure exchange technology

Abstract

The external-combustion wave rotor utilizes the unsteady pressure wave formed by the opening and clos-ing of the ports to perform high-efficiency energy conversion, which has a wide range of application prospects. The typical structures of internal flow field of the external combustion wave rotor are analyzed, the global important re-sults of performance tests are reviewed, and the advantages and challenges of supercharging gas turbine are summa-rized. It is pointed out that under the influence of port gradual opening and closing, circumferential clearance leak-age, centrifugal force and Coriolis force acceleration, and solid wall heat transfer, the internal flow field structure presents multi-dimensional characteristics, and the leakage loss accounts for the largest proportion. Under model test condition, a pressure gain of 15%~30% and a compression efficiency of 70%~85% can be obtained when used in conjunction with a gas turbine, it has the advantages of through-flow self-cooling, outstanding steady-state performance, excellent dynamic response and insignificant size effect. However, it is necessary to overcome the bottlenecks such as compact overall stricture design, high performance wave rotor design, wide operating condition wave system structure control, low-loss transition duct design, and compound loss suppression.

Abstract

The tree inclusion problem is, given two node-labeled trees $P$ and $T$ (the ``pattern tree'' and the ``target tree''), to locate every minimal subtree in $T$ (if any) that can be obtained by applying a sequence of node insertion operations to $P$. Although the ordered tree inclusion problem is solvable in polynomial time, the unordered tree inclusion problem is NP-hard. The currently fastest algorithm for the latter is a classic algorithm by Kilpel\"{a}inen and Mannila from 1995 that runs in $O(2^{2d} mn)$ time, where $m$ and $n$ are the sizes of the pattern and target trees, respectively, and $d$ is the degree of the pattern tree. Here, we develop a new algorithm that runs in $O(2^{d} mn^2)$ time, improving the exponential factor from $2^{2d}$ to $2^d$ by considering a particular type of ancestor-descendant relationships that is suitable for dynamic programming. Abstract

Selenium as one of the most historical semiconductors has been used for photovoltaics and photodetection, thanks to its excellent optoelectronic properties, superior stability, facile and low‐cost fabrication. However, commercialized Se‐based devices are mainly based on its amorphous state, which significantly limits the charge transport and requires relatively large bias voltage. The charge carrier dynamics of high‐performance crystalline Se thin films are barely reported, and related photodiodes have not been realized mainly limited by the large dark current and slow response speed. Here, poly‐crystalline Se thin films via vacuum evaporation, in situ thermal annealing, and engineered the interfaces with various metal electrodes are fabricated, which resulted in enhanced charge transport properties and reduced device leakage. The optimized Se photodiodes exhibited excellent performance metrics, including extremely low dark current density, decent specific detectivity, and superior stability. Furthermore, the optimized Se photodetectors are also introduced for single‐pixel imaging, which demonstrates excellent sensitivity and great potential for real applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

50. Independently Switchable Rasorber With Wide Transmission and Low-Reflection Bands Under Dual Polarization

Abstract

Switchable frequency selective rasorbers (FSRs) have gained significant attention for their ability to switch passbands into absorption bands. However, increasing their functionality or switchable state while maintaining stable wideband transmission and low reflection remains challenging. Therefore, this work proposes a three-layer FSR architecture that achieves switchable wide-passband in wide low-reflection bands and state-of-the-art independent switchability under dual polarization. First, for the bottom layer, a second-order inductively coupled frequency selective surface (FSS) with active diode loading on the uppermost layer can switch from wide passband to reflections. Second, for the middle layer, the switchable impedance layer with a low- ${Q}$ parallel resonator can preserve the passband or absorb previous in-band electromagnetic (EM) waves. Third, for the top layer, theoretical analysis confirms that an additional nonswitchable impedance layer must be introduced to achieve extended low reflection bandwidth during various switching states. Note that a polarization-isolated bias network is merged into the structural design to provide polarization-independent switchability for the passband. Finally, experimental results agree with simulations, demonstrating the proposed FSR device exhibits excellent performance, including four switching operating states, a wide 1-dB passband, 45° transmission angular stability, and a consistently wide low-reflection band in all rasorbing or absorbing states.
