We present the first detection of the ground-state OH emission line at 1612 MHz toward the prototypical carbon-rich planetary nebula (PN) NGC 7027, utilizing the newly installed ultra-wideband (UWB) receiver of the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). This emission is likely to originate from the interface of the neutral shell and the ionized region. The other three ground-state OH lines at 1665, 1667, and 1721 MHz are observed in absorption and have velocities well matched with that of HCO$^+$ absorption. We infer that the OH absorption is from the outer shell of NGC 7027, although the possibility that they are associated with a foreground cloud cannot be completely ruled out. All the OH lines exhibit a single blue-shifted component with respect to the central star. The formation of OH in carbon-rich environments might be via photodissociation-induced chemical processes. Recent experiments show that the desorption energy of H$_2$ on a diamond-like carbon (DLC) surface depends on the H$_2$ coverage of the surface. We aim to quantitatively explain the coverage dependent H$_2$ desorption energy measured by the experiments. We derive a math formula to calculate an effective H$_2$ desorption energy based on the encounter desorption mechanism. The effective H$_2$ desorption energy depends on two key parameters, the desorption energy of H$_2$ on H$_2$ substrate and the ratio of H$_2$ diffusion barrier to its desorption energy. The calculated effective H$_2$ desorption energy qualitatively agrees with the coverage dependent H$_2$ desorption energy measured by the experiments if the values of these two parameters in literature are used in the calculations. We argue that the difference between the effective H$_2$ desorption energy and the experimental results is due to the lacking of knowledge about these two parameters. So, we recalculate these two parameters based on experimental data. We present an unbiased molecular line survey toward the carbon-rich circumstellar envelope CIT 6 carried out between 90 and 116 GHz with the Arizona Radio Observatory 12 m telescope. A total of 42 lines assigned to 10 molecular species and 4 isotopologues are detected. Despite the absence of any newly identified circumstellar molecules, several transitions are freshly reported for this object. This work is a complement to our previous line survey toward CIT 6 in the frequency ranges of 36-49 GHz and 131-268 GHz. Based on the measurements and in combination with previously published data, we perform a rotation-diagram analysis to determine the column densities, excitation temperatures, and fractional abundances of the molecules. The excitation temperature varies along the radius. The abundance pattern of CIT6 is broadly consistent with that of the prototype C-star IRC+10216 at the specified detection sensitivity, indicating that the molecular richness in IRC+10216 cannot be attributed to an interpretation of unusual chemistry. Nevertheless, subtle distinctions between the two C-stars are found. The higher abundance of carbon-chain molecules and lower 12C/13C ratio in CIT 6 compared to IRC+10216 imply that the former is more massive or in a more evolved phase than the latter., Comment: 34 pages, 14 figures, 5 tables

We investigate how the existence of hydrogen molecules on grain surfaces may affect H$_2$ formation efficiency in diffuse and translucent clouds. Hydrogen molecules are able to reduce the desorption energy of H atoms on grain surfaces in models. The detailed microscopic Monte Carlo method is used to perform model simulations. We found that the impact of the existence of H$_2$ on H$_2$ formation efficiency strongly depends on the diffusion barriers of H$_2$ on grain surfaces. Diffuse cloud models that do not consider surface H$_2$ predict that H atom recombination efficiency is above 0.5 over a grain temperature (T) range 10 K and 14 K. The adopted H$_2$ diffusion barriers in diffuse cloud models that consider surface H$_2$ are 80$\%$ H$_2$ desorption energies so that H$_2$ can be trapped in stronger binding sites. Depending on model parameters, these diffuse cloud models predict that the recombination efficiency is between nearly 0 and 0.5 at 10 K $\leq$ T $\leq$ 14 K. Translucent cloud model results show that H$_2$ formation efficiency is not affected by the existence of surface H$_2$ if the adopted average H$_2$ diffusion barrier on grain surfaces is low (194 K) so that H$_2$ can diffuse rapidly on grain surfaces. However, the recombination efficiency can drop to below 0.002 at T $\geq$ 10 K if higher average H$_2$ diffusion barrier is used (255 K) in translucent cloud models., Comment: accepted for publication in MNRAS

We present HCN J=4-3 and HCO^+ J=4-3 maps of six nearby star-forming galaxies, NGC 253, NGC 1068, IC 342, M82, M83, and NGC 6946, obtained with the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope as part of the MALATANG survey. All galaxies were mapped in the central 2 arcmin $\times$ 2 arcmin region at 14 arcsec (FWHM) resolution (corresponding to linear scales of ~ 0.2-1.0 kpc). The L_IR-L'_dense relation, where the dense gas is traced by the HCN J=4-3 and the HCO^+ J=4-3 emission, measured in our sample of spatially-resolved galaxies is found to follow the linear correlation established globally in galaxies within the scatter. We find that the luminosity ratio, L_IR/L'_dense, shows systematic variations with L_IR within individual spatially resolved galaxies, whereas the galaxy-integrated ratios vary little. A rising trend is also found between L_IR/L'_dense ratio and the warm-dust temperature gauged by the 70 \mu m/100 \mu m flux ratio. We find the luminosity ratios of IR/HCN(4-3) and IR/HCO^+(4-3), which can be taken as a proxy for the efficiency of star formation in the dense molecular gas (SFE_dense), appears to be nearly independent of the dense-gas fraction (f_dense) for our sample of galaxies. The SFE of the total molecular gas (SFE_mol) is found to increase substantially with f_dense when combining our data with that on local (ultra)luminous infrared galaxies and high-z quasars. The mean L'_HCN(4-3)/L'_HCO^+(4-3) line ratio measured for the six targeted galaxies is 0.9+/-0.6. No significant correlation is found for the L'_HCN(4-3)/L'_HCO^+(4-3) ratio with the SFR as traced by L_IR, nor with the warm-dust temperature, for the different populations of galaxies., Comment: 29 pages, 12 figures, accepted for publication in ApJ
