A novel [1, 2, 4]triazolo[5,1-b]quinazoline fluorescent probe (VIi) for Fe3+ was developed, featuring with rapid response (< 5 s) and specific selectivity to Fe3+, low detection limit (1.3 × 10−5 M), as well as the ability to resist interference of chelating agent (e.g. EDTA). VIi-based fluorescent test paper can quickly recognize Fe3+ under irradiation at the wavelength of 365 nm. In this investigation, eight novel 2,5-disubstituted [1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one and eight novel 2,5-disubstituted [1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine amine derivatives were synthesized based on the novel marine natural product Essramycin. Their anti-epileptic activities were evaluated by 4-aminopyridine (4-AP)-induced hyper excitability model in primary cultured neocortical neurons. Five compounds with [1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one skeleton showed remarkable anti-epileptic activities. The preliminary structure–activity relationship (SAR) showed that the pyrimidine-7(4H)-one motif is the necessary "active core" of anti-epileptic activity. To understand the action mechanism of anti-epileptic activity of [1,2,4]-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-7(4H)-one compounds, docking studies using the model of GABAA as docking scaffolds were performed and the docking results were in concordance with the experiment observations. By using remote sensing and GIS technology, this paper collected land use information of 1980, 1990, 2000 and 2010 and the relevant statistical data, and analyzed the characteristics of land use change and its driving forces in northwestern Shanxi Province, the typical ecological fragile area. The results showed that there were significant changes in land use patterns in the past 30 years. During 1980-1990, 1990-2000 and 2000-2010 periods, the area of farmland decreased continuously, while the areas of grassland and woodland experienced increase-decrease-increase and decrease-increase-decrease patterns of change, respectively. The areas of industrial and resident lands increased continuously, but the water body and unused land decreased. The farmland was mainly transformed to grassland and woodland, and the areas of industrial and resident lands increased from the farmland. The lost area of water body was transformed to grassland and farmland. The decrease of unused land was due to the implementation of ecological engineering and urban expanding. In general, the changes of land use types were significantly higher before 2000 than after 2000. The industrial and resident lands, unused land and grassland changed drastically. The relationships between land use types and driving forces indicated that population pressure and economic development led to the changes of industrial land and farmland; policy of forestry ecological engineering drove the changes of woodland and grassland; the drought-characterized climate was the major cause inducing the decrease of water area and hindering the restoration of forest. Treatment of landfill leachate is a worldwide problem at present. A pretreatment process, struvite MgNHPO·6HO precipitation, was developed to treat raw landfill leachate, and its performance was biologically validated in this manuscript. During the struvite precipitation, the suitable operating pH was 9 with 97.8% NH-N removal. It was found that temperature had no significant effect on the treatment efficiency of struvite precipitation, but clearly affected COD removal and BOD/COD ratio. At 40°C, NH-N removal, COD removal and BOD/COD ratio were above 95, 56 and 0.70%, respectively. The X-ray diffraction analysis verified that the precipitate formed mainly was struvite and other compounds of phosphor may be formed accompanying the struvite production. In membrane bioreactor system, the average MLVSS/MLSS ratio of 0.55 characterized the operation at 24 h HRT had a surge to 0.69 during HRT of 12 h. Whether bone marrow changes occur and potentially contribute to the hematological abnormalities in liver cirrhosis remain unclear. In this study, we established a rat model of liver cirrhosis induced by carbon tetrachloride. Electron microscopy examination showed focal lesions in bone marrow sinusoidal endothelium and hematopoietic cells in animals with cirrhosis. With the persistence of liver cirrhosis, injuries of bone marrow sinusoidal endothelium progressed from mild mitochondrial changes to nuclear pycnosis and cell disruption, and the trilineage hematopoietic cells showed apoptosis and necrosis. Immunohistochemistry revealed increased expression of E-selectin, P-selectin and vWF in bone marrow sinusoidal endothelium of the cirrhotic rats, which was consistent with the data from semiquantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction analysis. Autopsy specimens from patients with liver cirrhosis (in the absence of other disease) showed the same findings as detected by immunohistochemistry in animal models. The results provide evidence of the association between liver cirrhosis and bone marrow alterations by demonstrating the bone marrow sinusoidal endothelium lesions in both a rat model and patients. It also indicates that activation or injury of bone marrow sinusoidal endothelium mediated by E-selectin, P-selectin, and vWF might have a role in pathogenesis of bone marrow changes during liver cirrhosis. Abstract: The enhancement of methane fermentation in the presence of Ni2+ chelators, citric acid (CA), nitrilotriacetic acid (NTA), and ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDAT) respectively, was investigated in this study. The results showed that the addition of chelating agents promoted methane fermentation of acetate. At a sodium acetate concentration of 7g/L, temperature of 35°C, and Ni2+ concentration of 20μM, methane production was enhanced 34.1%, 49.2%, and 38.6%, by the addition of 10μM CA, NTA and EDTA, respectively. The formation of soluble complexes between chelating agents and Ni2+ favored the dissolution of Ni2+ from their sulfides, and the bioavailability of Ni2+ was dramatically increased. By the addition of 10μM NTA, the concentration of dissolved Ni2+ was greatly increased from 58 to 1020μg/L. Accompanying with that, the concentrations of F430 and coenzyme M of the biomass increased 37% and by four-fold, respectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
