Asthma currently affects more than 339 million people worldwide. In the present preliminary study, we examined the efficacy of a new, inhalable soluble epoxide hydrolase inhibitor (sEHI), 1-trifluoromethoxyphenyl-3-(1-propionylpiperidin-4-yl) urea (TPPU), to attenuate airway inflammation, mucin secretion, and hyper-responsiveness (AHR) in an ovalbumin (OVA)-sensitized murine model. Male BALB/c mice were divided into phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), OVA, and OVA+TPPU (2- or 6-h) exposure groups. On days 0 and 14, the mice were administered PBS or sensitized to OVA in PBS. From days 26-38, seven challenge exposures were performed with 30 min inhalation of filtered air or OVA alone. In the OVA+TPPU groups, a 2- or 6-h TPPU inhalation preceded each 30-min OVA exposure. On day 39, pulmonary function tests (PFTs) were performed, and biological samples were collected. Lung tissues were used to semi-quantitatively evaluate the severity of inflammation and airway constriction and the volume of stored intracellular mucosubstances. Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) and blood samples were used to analyze regulatory lipid mediator profiles. Significantly (p < 0.05) attenuated alveolar, bronchiolar, and pleural inflammation; airway resistance and constriction; mucosubstance volume; and inflammatory lipid mediator levels were observed with OVA+TPPU relative to OVA alone. Cumulative findings indicated TPPU inhalation effectively inhibited inflammation, suppressed AHR, and prevented mucosubstance accumulation in the murine asthmatic model. Future studies should determine the pharmacokinetics (i.e., absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) and pharmacodynamics (i.e., concentration/dose responses) of inhaled TPPU to explore its potential as an asthma-preventative or -rescue treatment.

Adsorption characteristic of supercritical CO2 on coal directly determines the CO2 geological storage capacity. Through volumetric method, this paper analyzed the manifestation effects of different models on the experimental data of various ranked coals and activated carbon. The results indicate that the variation rate of gaseous CO2 density reaches the peak around 8 MPa. Introduction of parameter k could improve the fitting quality and trap various experimental errors. The adsorption mechanism of coal samples from Tiefa and Wolonghu is micropore filling. As coal samples of Yaojie is collected from a CO2 -rich reservoir, the alteration effect by experimental CO2 adsorption is unobvious and its micropores develop quite well, thus the greatest absolute adsorption is higher than other samples. When the gas density increases gradually, the gap between excess adsorption and absolute adsorption widens, and the absolute adsorption determines the adsorption capacity of the coal samples. The fitting CO2 adsorbed phase density of the activated carbon by OK model is 1.004 g/cm3.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has become an important etiological driver of oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC), leading to unique tumor characteristics. However, the interplay between HPV-associated tumor cells and tumor microenvironment (TME) remains an enigma. Methods: We performed a single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) on HPV-positive (HPV+) and HPV-negative (HPV‒) OPSCC tumors, each for three samples, and one normal tonsil tissue. Ex vivo validation assays including immunofluorescence staining, cell line co-culture, and flow cytometry analysis were used to test specific subtypes of HPV+ tumor cells and their communications with T cells. Results: Through a comprehensive single-cell transcriptome analysis, we uncover the distinct transcriptional signatures between HPV+ and HPV‒ OPSCC. Specifically, HPV+ OPSCC tumor cells manifest an enhanced interferon response and elevated expression of the major histocompatibility complex II (MHC-II), potentially bolstering tumor recognition and immune response. Furthermore, we identify a CXCL13+CD4+ T cell subset that exhibits dual features of both follicular and pro-inflammatory helper T cells. Noteworthily, HPV+ OPSCC tumor cells embrace extensive intercellular communications with CXCL13+CD4+ T cells. Interaction with HPV+ OPSCC tumor cells amplifies CXCL13 and IFNγ release in CD4+T cells, fostering a pro-inflammatory TME. Additionally, HPV+ tumor cells expressing high MHC-II and CXCL13+CD4+ T cell prevalence are indicative of favorable overall survival rates in OPSCC patients. Conclusions: Together, our study underscores a synergistic inflammatory immune response orchestrated by highly immunogenic tumor cells and CXCL13+CD4+ T cells in HPV+ OPSCC, offering useful insights into strategy development for patient stratification and effective immunotherapy in OPSCC. Background/Objective: The incidence of oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) remains significant, with a rising prevalence of HPV-positive (HPV+) cases, underscoring the growing importance of appropriate treatment approaches for this condition. While HPV+ OPC typically exhibits a more favorable prognosis than HPV-negative (HPV−) OPC, certain HPV+ OPC patients still face adverse outcomes. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of TORS versus traditional surgery in treating OPC patients and investigate the prognostic implications of specific variants in the HPV genome. Methods: The clinical information, including pathological features, treatments, and outcomes (death), of 135 OPC patients treated with traditional surgery from 2008 to 2018 (the non-TORS group) and 130 OPC patients treated with TORS from 2017 to 2021 (the TORS group) were obtained from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center (SYSUCC). A comparative analysis of 3-year overall survival (OS) was performed between these two groups. Furthermore, we conducted next-generation sequencing for the HPV16 genome of the 68 HPV+ OPC cases to characterize single-nucleotide variations (SNVs) in the HPV16 genome and evaluate its association with HPV+ OPC patient survival. Results: The comparative analysis of 3-year OS between the two groups (TORS vs. non-TORS) revealed a significant prognostic improvement in the TORS group for OPC patients with a T1–T2 classification (89.3% vs. 72.0%; p = 1.1 × 10−2), stages I–II (92.1% vs. 82.2%; p = 4.6 × 10−2), and stages III–IV (82.8% vs. 62.2%; p = 5.7 × 10−2) and for HPV− patients (85.5% vs. 33.3%; p < 1.0 × 10−6). Furthermore, three SNVs (SNV1339A>G, SNV1950A>C, and SNV4298A>G) in the HPV16 genome were identified as being associated with worse survival. These SNVs could alter protein interactions and weaken the binding affinity for MHC-II, promoting viral amplification and immune evasion. Conclusions: TORS exhibited a superior prognosis to traditional surgery in OPC patients. Additionally, identifying specific SNVs within the HPV16 genome provided potential prognostic markers for HPV+ OPC. Objective: To investigate condylar bone density (BD) in children with craniofacial microsomia (CFM) and identify factors that contribute to early stage condylar resorption (CR) after mandibular distraction osteogenesis (MDO). Design: Retrospective study. Setting: Craniofacial department of a plastic surgery hospital. Patients: Fifty-one children with CFM classified as Pruzansky IIa based on complete pre-(T0) and post-MDO (T1) computed tomography (CT) data. Intervention and Main outcome measurements: Mimic 21.0 (Materialise Inc., Belgium) was used to measure bilateral BD and condylar height (CH) and volume (CV) of affected side. Children were split into groups based on either affected side BD or the distraction length (DL,25 mm as cutoff).Bilateral BD was compared using a paired t-test in each group. The CH and CV of affected side at T0 and T1 were compared. The relative values of the CH and CV (CH ratio) and the volume (CV ratio) of the affected side were compared across the groups. Results: The BD was lower on affected side than on unaffected side. Regarding BD, CH and CV decreased after MDO in group I, while the CH ratio and CV ratio of group I was lower than that of groups II and III. Regarding DL, the CV ratio was lower in Group L than Group S. Conclusions: The condylar bone quality on affected side is compromised in type IIa CFM. A low BD in combination with a larger distraction distance may increase the risk of CR; therefore, MDO in patients with such characteristics should be postponed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The sampling time of long drilling fixed-point gas content measurement is long. And it is unable to measure the gas content in coal seams accurately due to the absence of desorption on site. In order to solve the above problems, a method of using analogy to estimate gas loss and atmospheric gas desorption during sampling is proposed. In the same geological conditions and gas geological unit, the ratio of gas loss and on-site gas desorption to the total gas content in the measurement results of the gas content of the shallow drilling air exhaust powder sampling of the common rotary drilling rig is used as the standard. The analogy is the ratio of gas loss and on-site gas desorption to the total gas content in the deep drilling fixed-point sampling of the kilometer directional drilling rig. The ratio of gas loss and on-site gas desorption is added to the final measured residual gas content. The total gas content of the deep drilling fixed-point sampling of the kilometer directional drilling rig is obtained. This method is used to measure the gas content of long drilling in the Ji16-17-24070 working face of No.11 Pingdingshan Coal Mine, and to correct the gas content measured values of the kilometer directional drilling sampling. The test results show that compared with the gas content measurement of the short drilling direct method, the average error of the long drilling gas content measurement corrected by the analogy method is reduced from 12.07% to 0.19%. Compared with the content prediction values, the average error of the long drilling gas content measured values corrected by analogy method is reduced from 12.90% to 4.71%.

In order to reveal the competitive adsorption characteristics of CH4 /CO2 mixed gas in coal, the isothermal adsorption experiments of five different ratios of CH4 /CO2 mixed gas in coal were carried out. Experiments show that the relationship between the adsorption amount of pure CH4 and pure CO2 and the gas pressure satisfies the Langmuir equation. Under the same conditions, the adsorption capacity of CO2 by coal is twice that of CH4; the adsorption capacity of mixed gas of CH4 /CO2 with different ratios is always between the single-component CH4 and CO2; coal does not adsorb mixed gas independently, but competitively, and CO2 is dominant in the process of competitively adsorption; as the volume fraction of CO2 in the mixed gas increases, the adsorption selectivity coefficient increases, and it is always greater than 1, indicating that CO2 injection is feasible to displace CH4, that is, CO2-ECBM/CO2 storage is feasible; the BET multi-component gas adsorption model is more suitable for predicting the amount of CH4 /CO2 mixed gas adsorbed by coal.

Objective: To characterise the morphology of temporal bone in patients with craniofacial microsomia (CFM). Design: A retrospective study. Setting: A craniofacial centre. Patients: Ninety-four patients with unilateral craniofacial microsomia. Interventions: Mimics 21.0 (Materialise Inc., Belgium) was used to locate temporal bone landmarks on preoperative computed tomography data. The spatial Cartesian coordinate system was established in 3-matic 13.0 (Materialise Inc., Belgium). The coordinates of each landmark and the distances and angles between the landmarks were calculated. A classification system was used to quantify the severity of the zygomatic arch deformity. Main outcome measure(s): The bilateral differences in coordinates, linear and angular measurements, and the severity of temporal bone deformity (TTL δ, Psag δ, Paxiδ, and Tsag δ) among the groups were compared using the paired t-test and Kruskal-Wallis test, respectively. Results: Compared to those of the unaffected side, the landmarks of the inner ear and petrous part on the affected side showed a decrease in the Z-coordinate or an increase in the X-coordinate. A superolateral rotation tendency of the temporal bone on the affected side was found. There were no significant differences in the linear and angular measurements between the groups. The degree of zygomatic arch deformation was lower in the mild group; however, no significant difference was found between the moderate and severe groups. Conclusions: In patients with CFM, asymmetry of the temporal bone and its inner organs (vestibulocochlear organ, facial nerve, and vessels) exists in multiple dimensions; its severity is not completely consistent with the degree of mandibular involvement. Hybrid airships, combining aerodynamic lift and buoyant lift, are efficient near-space aircraft for scientific exploration, observation, and surveillance. Compared to conventional airplanes and airships, hybrid airships offer unique advantages, including stationary hovering and rapid deployment. Due to the different task requirements and strong coupling between flight and environment, trajectory-optimization methods for traditional aircraft are difficult to apply to hybrid airships directly. We propose a trajectory-optimization model based on the variational method to calculate the optimal time and energy paths under weak, uniform, and latitudinal linear wind fields. Our model shows that the influencing factors for the optimization path can be categorized into three types: airship design parameters, wind field parameters, and departure parameters. The result indicates that the optimal time paths are generally straight lines, and the optimal energy paths are piecewise curves with a 24-h cycle under typical hybrid airship design parameters. In order to explore the factors influencing managers' decision-making ability and the relationship among them, this study puts forward the hypothesis on the basis of analysing the factors influencing the decision-making ability, constructs a neurocognitive model of the factors influencing the decision-making ability, analyses and verifies the hypothesis with the neurocognitive model in combination with the questionnaires, and calculates the path coefficient through the model. The empirical results show that decision-making information, leadership authority and corporate culture have significant influence on the decision-making ability, in which leadership authority is the main factor, and governance structure and decision-making system indirectly influence the decision-making ability through other intermediaries.
