Abstract

The application of virtual reality has become increasingly extensive as this technology has developed. In dental education, virtual reality is mainly used to assist or replace traditional methods of teaching clinical skills in preclinical training for several subjects, such as endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontics, implantology, and dental surgery. The application of dental simulators in teaching can make up for the deficiency of traditional teaching methods and reduce the teaching burden, improving convenience for both teachers and students. However, because of the technology limitations of virtual reality and force feedback, dental simulators still have many hardware and software disadvantages that have prevented them from being an alternative to traditional dental simulators as a primary skill training method. In the future, when combined with big data, cloud computing, 5G, and deep learning technology, dental simulators will be able to give students individualized learning assistance, and their functions will be more diverse and suitable for preclinical training. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of current dental simulators on related technologies, advantages and disadvantages, methods of evaluating effectiveness, and future directions for development.

7. Preparation and characterization of Pd/porous Ta/Ta composite membrane

Abstract

The porous Ta membrane was prepared on the surface of Ta foils by spraying and sintering. Subsequently, the Pd/porousTa/Ta composite membrane was prepared by electroless Pd plating processes using the porous Ta/Ta as the composite substrate. The effect of sintering temperature on the morphology of porous tantalum films was studied, and the growth behavior of Pd films was analyzed. In the results, the sintering temperature has a significant impact on the structure of porous Ta membrane. The porous Ta membrane with the well-developed sintering neck can be obtained by sintering at 1700 ℃ for 2 h. The electroless plating time has a significant effect on the Pd membrane on the surface of porous Ta membrane. Moreover, due to the complex surface structure of porous Ta membrane, it is difficult to obtain the uniform and dense Pd membrane on the surface of porous Ta membrane.

20. Epipolar Focus Spectrum: A Novel Light Field Representation and Application in Dense-view Reconstruction

Abstract

Existing light field representations, such as epipolar plane image (EPI) and sub-aperture images, do not consider the structural characteristics across the views, so they usually require additional disparity and spatial structure cues for follow-up tasks. Besides, they have difficulties dealing with occlusions or larger disparity scenes. To this end, this paper proposes a novel Epipolar Focus Spectrum (EFS) representation by rearranging the EPI spectrum. Different from the classical EPI representation where an EPI line corresponds to a specific depth, there is a one-to-one mapping from the EFS line to the view. Accordingly, compared to a sparsely-sampled light field, a densely-sampled one with the same field of view (FoV) leads to a more compact distribution of such linear structures in the double-cone-shaped region with the identical opening angle in its corresponding EFS. Hence the EFS representation is invariant to the scene depth. To demonstrate its effectiveness, we develop a trainable EFS-based pipeline for light field reconstruction, where a dense light field can be reconstructed by compensating the "missing EFS lines" given a sparse light field, yielding promising results with cross-view consistency, especially in the presence of severe occlusion and large disparity. 27. Structure Design and Leg Kinematics Analysis of Scorpion like Coke Oven Temperature Measuring Robots

Abstract

A scorpion like robot is designed for temperature measurement of coke ovens in response to the harsh environment on the top of the coke oven, low accuracy and efficiency of manual temperature measurement. This study mainly analyzes the design based on the robot's leg walking mechanism. Firstly, the biomimetic structure of the scorpion is referred to complete the modeling of the overall structure of the coke oven temperature measuring robot and the design of its legs. Stress analysis indicates that it operates safely and stably during the temperature measurement process. Then the D-H coordinate system of the robot's kinematic structure is established, and the forward and inverse kinematics of its legs are analyzed. Then, Matlab is used to plan the Cartesian space trajectory of the legs and Adams is used to simulate the gait of the leg joints, indicating that the motion curves of the leg trajectory planning and gait simulation are almost identical and running smoothly. The experiment shows that the actual error of the temperature measurement robot's movement is maintained within 2 mm and runs smoothly. This lays an important foundation for the development of the overall system of the coke oven temperature measurement robot in the future.

44. Deep Anti-aliasing of Whole Focal Stack Using Slice Spectrum

Abstract

The paper aims at removing the aliasing effects of the whole focal stack generated from a sparse-sampled {4D} light field, while keeping the consistency across all the focal layers. We first explore the structural characteristics embedded in the focal stack slice and its corresponding frequency-domain representation, i.e., the Focal Stack Spectrum (FSS). We observe that the energy distribution of the FSS always resides within the same triangular area under different angular sampling rates, additionally the continuity of the Point Spread Function (PSF) is intrinsically maintained in the FSS. Based on these two observations, we propose a learning-based FSS reconstruction approach for one-time aliasing removing over the whole focal stack. Moreover, a novel conjugate-symmetric loss function is proposed for the optimization. Compared to previous works, our method avoids an explicit depth estimation, and can handle challenging large-disparity scenarios. Experimental results on both synthetic and real light field datasets show the superiority of the proposed approach for different scenes and various angular sampling rates.

Abstract

We review the AIM 2020 challenge on virtual image relighting and illumination estimation. This paper presents the novel VIDIT dataset used in the challenge and the different proposed solutions and final evaluation results over the 3 challenge tracks. The first track considered one-to-one relighting; the objective was to relight an input photo of a scene with a different color temperature and illuminant orientation (i.e., light source position). The goal of the second track was to estimate illumination settings, namely the color temperature and orientation, from a given image. Lastly, the third track dealt with any-to-any relighting, thus a generalization of the first track. The target color temperature and orientation, rather than being pre-determined, are instead given by a guide image. Participants were allowed to make use of their track 1 and 2 solutions for track 3. The tracks had 94, 52, and 56 registered participants, respectively, leading to 20 confirmed submissions in the final competition stage., Comment: ECCVW 2020.
