Cultural distortion risk (CDR) threatens and challenges the cultural sustainability of heritage sites. This study adopted a sequential exploratory mixed-method design comprising grounded theory and fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) to analyze the influencing factors, formation process, and avoidance paths of cultural distortion risk. The results indicate that CDR is caused by the "institution-market-production" framework, which involves eight influencing factors and 21 indicators. There are no necessary conditions for CDR formation, but weak cultural production plays a universal core role in forming high CDR. Moreover, our study highlights that the generation logic of CDR consists of four configurations and that the avoidance paths cover three configurations. These findings clarify the generation mechanism of CDR and expand the theoretical system of cultural sustainability research from a risk perspective. Heritage sites can use 21 indicators to reduce the cultural distortion risks by establishing institutional guarantee mechanisms and strengthening multiparty collaborative governance. In the knowledge economy era, there is a growing global emphasis on the impact of international scientific collaboration networks (SCNs) on academic innovation. Based on a cross-level analysis perspective, this study constructs a dual-stage cross-level moderated mediation model and tests the hypotheses related to scientific collaboration, knowledge diversity, and innovation performance. The data were collected from the tourism and hospitality academia publications from 1983 to 2018, involving 79 groups of 303 academics from China. This study indicates that knowledge diversity positively mediates the relationship between the number of collaborators and tourism academics' innovation performance. Furthermore, in complex SCNs, network relationship scale and team collaboration density have cross-level moderated effects on this process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The high infectivity and uncertainty of COVID-19 could intensify the tourists' psychological anxiety, and further greatly hinder the tourist flow and tourism recovery. Finding ways to ease tourist anxiety and renew their travel confidence is a critical issue that has remained unsolved during COVID-19. The government and tourist destination, providing and guaranteeing tourism activities, are helpful to alleviate tourist anxiety. Therefore, fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) and social support theory were used to explore how to alleviate tourist anxiety from the dual perspectives of the government and the destination. The results indicate that there are seven configurations for alleviating tourists' psychological anxiety, and the role of both government and destination are core factors. Among them, the positive destination image is indispensable. Moreover, there is a substitution between crisis management effectiveness and destination sustainability. The research deepens the matching relationship between multidimensional antecedents and tourist anxiety, promotes the application of social support theory in tourist negative emotion, and expands the research framework of tourist anxiety influenced by major crisis events. Our findings provide practical implications for the government and tourist destinations in dealing with major crises and contribute to tourism recovery and competitiveness remodelling during COVID-19. Aurovertins are fungal polyketides that exhibit potent inhibition of adenosine triphosphate synthase. Aurovertins contain a 2,6-dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane ring that is proposed to be derived from a polyene precursor through regioselective oxidations and epoxide openings. In this study, we identified only four enzymes required to produce aurovertin E. The core polyketide synthase produces a polyene α-pyrone. Following pyrone O-methylation by a methyltransferase, a flavin-dependent mono-oxygenase and an epoxide hydrolase can iteratively transform the terminal triene portion of the precursor into the dioxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane scaffold. We demonstrate that a tetrahydrofuranyl polyene is the first stable intermediate in the transformation, which can undergo epoxidation and anti-Baldwin 6-endo-tet ring opening to yield the cyclic ether product. Our results further demonstrate the highly concise and efficient ways in which fungal biosynthetic pathways can generate complex natural product scaffolds.

The small-molecule biosynthetic potential of most filamentous fungi has remained largely unexplored and represents an attractive source for the discovery of new compounds. Genome sequencing of Calcarisporium arbuscula, a mushroom-endophytic fungus, revealed 68 core genes that are involved in natural product biosynthesis. This is in sharp contrast to the predominant production of the ATPase inhibitors aurovertin B and D in the wild-type fungus. Inactivation of a histone H3 deacetylase led to pleiotropic activation and overexpression of more than 75 % of the biosynthetic genes. Sampling of the overproduced compounds led to the isolation of ten compounds of which four contained new structures, including the cyclic peptides arbumycin and arbumelin, the diterpenoid arbuscullic acid A, and the meroterpenoid arbuscullic acid B. Such epigenetic modifications therefore provide a rapid and global approach to mine the chemical diversity of endophytic fungi.
