The prevailing education management systems in colleges and universities are antiquated, adversely impacting not only the administrative efficiency but also the formulation of faculty teaching plans and class schedules, as well as the management of student electives and credit accrual. This paper presents an innovation and optimization of the existing system, wherein education management processes are categorized into seven distinct modules. It delineates the flow and integration of heterogeneous data sources within the system, leveraging heterogeneous database technology as the foundational framework. Subsequently, we redesign heterogeneous computation scheduling and adaptation, enhancing distributed database allocation and query algorithms. The culmination of this research is the development of a novel pathway for the education management information system in higher education institutions. Upon empirical testing of the system proposed in this paper, we explore its practical implications through IPA analysis. User satisfaction is notably high in areas such as A4 invigilation information, A13 subjective grading of routine assessments, A14 querying and feedback on grades, and A15 remediation of failed courses, with performance ratings of 4.77008, 4.73981, 4.8961, and 4.86558 respectively. These indices predominantly reside in the “continue to maintain” and “oversupply” zones, indicating the substantial efficacy of the innovative college management information system introduced herein. This study significantly contributes to the standardization and intellectualization of college administrative processes, proposing new paradigms and methodologies for the integration of educational management and information technology within tertiary institutions.

Background Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is the most common microvascular complication of diabetes mellitus (DM), being the second cause of end-stage renal disease globally. Podocyte injury is closely associated with DN developmen. Our study aimed to investigate the role of long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) TTN-AS1 in DN-associated podocyte injury. Methods The mouse podocyte cell line (MPC5) and human primary podocytes were stimulated by high glucose (HG; 30 nM glucose) to establish the cellular model of DN. Before HG stimulation, both podocytes were transfected with sh-TTN-AS1#1/2 or pcDNA3.1/STAT3 to evaluate the influence of TTN-AS1 knockdown or STAT3 overexpression on HG-induced podocyte injury. TTN-AS1 and STAT3 expression in both podocytes was examined by RT-qPCR. Cell viability and death were assessed by CCK-8 and LDH release assay. ELISA was adopted for testing IL-6 and TNF-α contents in cell supernatants. The levels of oxidative stress markers (ROS, MDA, SOD, and GSH) in cell supernatants were determined by commercial kits. Western blotting was used for measuring the expression of fibrosis markers (fibronectin and α-SMA and podocyte function markers (podocin and nephrin) in podocytes. Results HG stimulation led to decreased cell viability, increased cell death, fibrosis, inflammation, cell dysfunction and oxidative stress in podocytes. However, knockdown of TTN-AS1 ameliorated HG-induced podocyte injury. Mechanically, the transcription factor STAT3 interacted with TTN-AS1 promoter and upregulated TTN-AS1 expression. STAT3 overexpression offset the protective effect of TTN-AS1 silencing on HG-induced podocyte damage. Conclusion Overall, STAT3-mediated upregulation of lncRNA TTN-AS1 could exacerbate podocyte injury in DN through suppressing inflammation and oxidative stress. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Simple Summary: Foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) inactivated vaccines play a crucial role in curbing the spread of FMDV. The 50% protective dose (PD50) is considered the "gold standard" to assess the efficacy of FMD inactivated vaccines. It is a highly important metric to evaluate vaccine quality. However, assessing PD50 requires antibody-negative pigs or cattle, and so it is time-consuming and costly and requires high-level biosafety facilities. The 146S component, which represents intact virus particles containing all the neutralizing epitopes of FMDV, can effectively stimulate the production of protective antibodies in animals. We found that antibody titers and IFN-γ secretion levels at specific time points after immunization were positively associated with 146S contents. Additionally, 146S content showed a positive correlation with PD50, with greater PD50 values recorded for 146S contents ranging from 4.72 to 16.55 µg/dose. The determination of 146S contents could serve as a new method for potency testing, offering an alternative to animal challenge tests. This approach would not only significantly reduce the cost and duration of vaccine production testing but also minimize the need for animal challenge tests, thereby enhancing animal welfare. To investigate the association between 146S antigen contents in FMD inactivated vaccines and levels of antiviral immunity, this study vaccinated 30 kg pigs with three batches of FMD types O and A bivalent inactivated vaccines. Antibody titers and interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) secretion levels were measured on days 7, 14, 21, and 28 after primary immunization and on days 14 and 28 following booster immunization to assess associations between 146S contents and both antibody titers and IFN-γ secretion levels. Furthermore, 30 kg pigs were vaccinated with 46 batches of FMD type O inactivated vaccines and challenged on day 28, after which PD50 values were determined to evaluate the association between 146S content and PD50. The findings suggested that antibody titers and IFN-γ secretion levels at specific time points after immunization were positively associated with 146S contents. Additionally, 146S content showed a positive correlation with PD50, with greater PD50 values recorded for 146S contents ranging from 4.72 to 16.55 µg/dose. This investigation established a significant association between the 146S content in FMD inactivated vaccines and induced immune response against FMDV, thereby emphasizing its critical role in vaccine quality control. This study explores the potential mechanisms of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) complicates type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) by which chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) induces insulin resistance and cell apoptosis in the pancreas through oxidative stress. Four‐ and eight‐week CIH rat models were established, and Tempol (100 mg/kg/d), was used as an oxidative stress inhibitor. This study included five groups: 4‐week CIH, 4‐week CIH‐Tempol, 8‐week CIH, 8‐week CIH‐Tempol and normal control (NC) groups. Fasting blood glucose and insulin levels were measured in the serum. The expression levels of 8‐hidroxy‐2‐deoxyguanosine (8‐OHdG), tribbles homologue 3 (TRB3), c‐Jun N‐terminal kinase (JNK), phosphorylated JNK (p‐JNK), insulin receptor substrate‐1 (IRS‐1), phosphorylated IRS‐1 (Ser307) (p‐IRS‐1ser307), protein kinase B (AKT), phosphorylated AKT (Ser473) (p‐AKTser473), B cell lymphoma protein‐2 (Bcl‐2), cleaved‐caspase‐3 (Cl‐caspase‐3), and the islet cell apoptosis were detected in the pancreas. CIH induced oxidative stress in the pancreas. Compared with that in the NC group and CIH‐Tempol groups individually, the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA‐IR) and apoptosis of islet cells was increased in the CIH groups. CIH‐induced oxidative stress increased the expression of p‐IRS‐1Ser307 and decreased the expression of p‐AKTSer473. The expression levels of TRB3 and p‐JNK were higher in the CIH groups than in both the CIH‐Tempol and NC groups. Meanwhile, the expressions of Cl‐caspase‐3 and Bcl‐2 were upregulated and downregulated, respectively, in the CIH groups. Hence, the present study demonstrated that CIH‐induced oxidative stress might not only induce insulin resistance but also islet cell apoptosis in the pancreas through TRB3 and p‐JNK. As a life‐threatening disease, acute lung injury (ALI) may progress to chronic pulmonary fibrosis. For the treatment of lung injury, Tempol is a superoxide dismutase mimetic and intracellular redox agent that can be a potential drug. This study investigated the regulatory mechanism of Tempol in the treatment of ALI. A mouse model of ALI was established, and HE staining was used to examine histomorphology. The CCK‐8 assay was used to measure cell viability, and oxidative stress was assessed by corresponding kits. Flow cytometry and dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate staining assays were used to detect reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels. Protein expression levels were measured by Western blot analysis and ELISA. Pulmonary vascular permeability was used to measure the lung wet/dry weight ratio. The level of oxidative stress was increased in ALI mice, and the level of ferroptosis was upregulated. Tempol inhibited this effect and alleviated ALI. The administration of Tempol alleviated the pathological changes in ALI, inhibited pulmonary vascular permeability, and improved lung injury in ALI mice. The upregulation of genes essential for glutathione (GSH) metabolism induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) was inhibited by Tempol. In addition, nuclear factor‐related factor 2 (Nrf2) is activated by Tempol therapy to regulate the de novo synthesis pathway of GSH, thereby alleviating LPS‐induced lung epithelial cell damage. The results showed that Tempol alleviated ALI by activating the Nrf2 pathway to inhibit oxidative stress and ferroptosis in lung epithelial cells. In conclusion, this study demonstrates that Tempol alleviates ALI by inhibiting ferroptosis in lung epithelial cells through the effect of Nrf2 on GSH synthesis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: Pulmonary adenoid cystic carcinoma (PACC) is a rare, low-grade malignant salivary gland-type tumor characterized by a dormant onset and slow progression, often leading to misdiagnosis. Due to its rarity, limited cases have been reported in the literature. This report aimed to enhance clinicians' understanding of this infrequent disease. Case Presentation: We present the case of a 41-year-old female patient diagnosed with PACC. Our report provides a comprehensive analysis of the patient's imaging, pathology, and treatment, with a particular focus on immunohistochemical results. Importantly, we emphasize the significance of considering foreign bodies and tumors in the bronchus when encountering asthma-like symptoms unresponsive to conventional treatments. Due to the uncertain etiology and pathophysiology of PACC, there are currently no established guidelines for chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Conclusion: PACC predominantly manifests as bronchial lesions without significant clinical heterogeneity. Therefore, it is crucial to consider foreign bodies and tumors in the bronchus when dealing with asthma-like symptoms, especially in patients without chronic lung disease who do not respond to anti-infective, antispasmodic, and antiasthmatic treatments. Renal inflammation and fibrosis are the important pathological phenomena associated with obstructive nephropathy. However, the underlying mechanism associated with this disease has yet to be fully elucidated. The present study, therefore, aimed to investigate the effects mediated by C1q/tumor necrosis factor-related protein 13 (CTRP13) on renal inflammation and fibrosis in addition to elucidating the underlying mechanism. To meet this aim, a mouse unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO)-mediated renal dysfunction model was established. In addition, hematoxylin–eosin staining (H&E) staining and immunofluorescence experiments as well as Western blotting and reverse transcription quantitative (RT q) PCR analyses were performed. Recombinant CTRP13 was used to investigate the role of CTRP13 in chronic renal inflammation and fibrosis. A decreased expression level of CTRP13 was identified in the plasma of patients with renal fibrosis and in UUO-model mice. The renal histopathological and functional analyses revealed that CTRP13 could both reverse UUO mediated renal dysfunction and ameliorate the conditions of tubulointerstitial fibrosis and tubular injury. Additionally, CTRP13 was found to inhibit the expression levels of extracellular matrix proteins and proinflammatory mediators. In terms of the underlying mechanism, the protective effects on inflammation and fibrosis of the kidneys of CTRP13-treated mice undergoing UUO were found to be associated with the inactivation of the TGF β/Smad and NF κB p65 signaling pathways. Taken together, these findings have suggested that CTRP13 fulfills a vital role in the progression of obstructive nephropathy, thereby uncovering brand new insights into possible leads for the therapeutic treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD). Bamboo is a fast-growing plant with properties such as low cost, abundant resources, and good carbon sequestration effect. However, the swift growth of bamboo resources generates an immense quantity of processing waste, which is necessary to effectively utilize bamboo processing waste. The leftovers from bamboo processing can be reutilized by fast pyrolysis to prepare renewable bio-oil. In this study, bamboo bio-oil was partially substituted for phenol to synthesize phenolic resin with different substitution rates under the action of an alkaline catalyst, and then to serve as the adhesive to produce bamboo scrimber. Bamboo bundles were impregnated with synthetic bio-oil phenolic resin to create bamboo scrimber, which was subsequently hot-pressed. The research shows that modified phenolic resins with a bio-oil substitution rate of under 30% have good physical and chemical properties, while the free aldehyde content of phenolic resin with 40% bio-oil substitution exceeds the limit value (0.3%) specified in the Chinese National Standard. The thermal stability of phenolic resins was also increased after bio-oil modification, indicated by the movement of the TG curve to higher temperature ranges. It was found that the bamboo scrimber prepared with 20% BPF resin adhesive had the best comprehensive properties of a good mechanical strength, hydrophobicity, and mildew resistance, particularly with an elastic modulus of 9269 MPa and a static bending strength of 143 MPa. The microscopic morphology showed that the BPF resin was well impregnated into the interior of the bamboo bundle and had a compact bonding structure within the bamboo scrimber. The anti-mold performance experiment found that the bio-oil-modified resin increased the anti-mold level of the bamboo scrimber from slightly corrosion-resistant to strong corrosion-resistant. The conclusions obtained from this study have a good reference value for achieving the comprehensive utilization of bamboo, helping to promote the use of all components, reduce the production cost of bamboo scrimber, and improve its mildew resistance performance.
