Edema disease (ED) is a severe and lethal infectious ailment in swine, stemming from Shiga-toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC). An efficient, user-friendly, and safe vaccine against ED is urgently required to improve animal welfare and decrease antibiotic consumption. Recombinant attenuated Salmonella vaccines (RASV) administered orally induce both humoral and mucosal immune responses to the immunizing antigen. Their potential for inducing protective immunity against ED is significant through the delivery of STEC antigens. rSC0016 represents an enhanced recombinant attenuated vaccine vector designed for Salmonella enterica serotype Choleraesuis. It combines sopB mutations with a regulated delay system to strike a well-balanced equilibrium between host safety and immunogenicity. We generated recombinant vaccine strains, namely rSC0016 (pS-FedF) and rSC0016 (pS-rStx2eA), and assessed their safety and immunogenicity in vivo. The findings demonstrated that the mouse models immunized with rSC0016 (pS-FedF) and rSC0016 (pS-rStx2eA) generated substantial IgG antibody responses to FedF and rStx2eA, while also provoking robust mucosal and cellular immune responses against both FedF and rStx2eA. The protective impact of rSC0016 (pS-FedF) against Shiga-toxin-producing Escherichia coli surpassed that of rSC0016 (pS-rStx2eA), with percentages of 83.3%. These findings underscore that FedF has greater suitability for vaccine delivery via recombinant attenuated Salmonella vaccines (RASVs). Li1.1Mn0.55Ni0.3Co0.05O2 (LMRO) oxides were prepared by a hydrothermal method and the molten salts-assisted sintering method. When the mass ratio of urea and the metal salts is 0.025, the material (0.025NS-LMRO) has a uniform distribution of the microsphere particles and a good sphericity because the molten salts could drive Li+ into the interior of the assembled micron sphere. When used to lithium-ion batteries, its specific capacities of charge/discharge are 179.6/104.3 mAh/g at 158.5 mA/g. After 150 cycles, the discharge specific capacity and discharge energy density are 122.8 and 385.3 Wh/kg. The findings may be because the appropriate amounts of Li+ and the transition metal ions could be mixed in the Li layer, which could act as a pillar to dent the repulsion of the adjacent oxygen layers and fix the laminar structure of the material. Objective: This study was to investigate the efficacy of olfactory ensheathing cell (OEC) transplantation on experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE)., Methods: EAE models were established by guinea pig spinal cord homogenate (GPSCH) immunization in Lewis rats. OECs were purified and cultured from the olfactory nerve layer of SD rats, and then transplanted to the EAE models through the vena caudalis (Group A) or into the lateral cerebral ventricle (Group B). Neurological function scores and body weights were daily recorded following transplantation, and histological analysis was performed to assess the pathological changes in EAE rats., Results: Cultured cells mainly exhibited bipolar or tripolar morphology, and the majority of these cells were positive for NGFR p75 staining. Neurological function scoring and the body weight measurement showed that, OEC transplantation could significantly improve the performance of EAE rats, and similar results were observed for the transplantation through the vena caudalis and into the lateral cerebral ventricle. Moreover, the transplanted OECs accumulated to the lesions in the brains of EAE rats, in spite of the different transplantation approaches. However, no significant differences in histopathology (HE and LFB staining) were observed between the OEC-transplanted groups and the control group., Conclusion: OEC transplantation could exert beneficial effects in the treatment of EAE, no matter which the cells were transplanted through the vena caudalis or into the lateral cerebral ventricle. Our findings might provide evidence for the clinical treatment of multiple sclerosis with cell transplantation.
