1. Control Color: Multimodal Diffusion-based Interactive Image Colorization

Abstract

Despite the existence of numerous colorization methods, several limitations still exist, such as lack of user interaction, inflexibility in local colorization, unnatural color rendering, insufficient color variation, and color overflow. To solve these issues, we introduce Control Color (CtrlColor), a multi-modal colorization method that leverages the pre-trained Stable Diffusion (SD) model, offering promising capabilities in highly controllable interactive image colorization. While several diffusion-based methods have been proposed, supporting colorization in multiple modalities remains non-trivial. In this study, we aim to tackle both unconditional and conditional image colorization (text prompts, strokes, exemplars) and address color overflow and incorrect color within a unified framework. Specifically, we present an effective way to encode user strokes to enable precise local color manipulation and employ a practical way to constrain the color distribution similar to exemplars. Apart from accepting text prompts as conditions, these designs add versatility to our approach. We also introduce a novel module based on self-attention and a content-guided deformable autoencoder to address the long-standing issues of color overflow and inaccurate coloring. 2. Planning and Rendering: Towards Product Poster Generation with Diffusion Models

Abstract

Product poster generation significantly optimizes design efficiency and reduces production costs. Prevailing methods predominantly rely on image-inpainting methods to generate clean background images for given products. Subsequently, poster layout generation methods are employed to produce corresponding layout results. However, the background images may not be suitable for accommodating textual content due to their complexity, and the fixed location of products limits the diversity of layout results. To alleviate these issues, we propose a novel product poster generation framework based on diffusion models named P\&R. The P\&R draws inspiration from the workflow of designers in creating posters, which consists of two stages: Planning and Rendering. At the planning stage, we propose a PlanNet to generate the layout of the product and other visual components considering both the appearance features of the product and semantic features of the text, which improves the diversity and rationality of the layouts. At the rendering stage, we propose a RenderNet to generate the background for the product while considering the generated layout, where a spatial fusion module is introduced to fuse the layout of different visual components. To foster the advancement of this field, we propose the first product poster generation dataset PPG30k, comprising 30k exquisite product poster images along with comprehensive image and text annotations. Our method outperforms the state-of-the-art product poster generation methods on PPG30k. The PPG30k will be released soon.

39. Faster, Higher,Stronger, Together? The Impact of Blockchain Application on Innovation.

Abstract

This study investigates the role of blockchain technology in fostering innovation within businesses, using a regression analysis of data from Chinese companies between 2007 and 2020. The results indicate that integrating blockchain technology significantly boosts business innovation by enhancing operational efficiency and broadening the scope of operations. Additionally, the study finds that businesses with greater technological and financial resources experience a more pronounced positive effect from blockchain adoption on innovation. The research also shows a substantial correlation between the use of blockchain technology and improvements in various innovation dimensions, including technology cycle time, citations, commercialization, and collaboration. This paper offers a detailed examination of how blockchain technology impacts innovation, presenting strong empirical evidence from a comprehensive dataset and contributing to a deeper understanding of this evolving relationship. Abstract

Earth building is a traditional architectural form. With respect to environment protection, low cost, convenient advantages, its practical value is recognizing carefully. Due to poor mechanical properties and durability of earth, the development of earth building has been prevented. This experiment selects two kinds of soil. Sawdust and straw serve as admixture. More than 300 specimens have been performed to verify the effects of various factors on soil’s physical and mechanical characteristics. Some useful characteristics are acquired by the experiment, such as soil’s optimal moisture content, maximum dry density, optimal length of straw and contraction ratio. Testing the influence of admixture on soil’s strength and deformation, this experiment shows that mixing straw and sawdust reduce soil’s compressive and tensile strength. Abstract

Rationale: Prostate cancer metastasizes to the bone with the highest frequency and exhibits high resistance to 177 Lu-prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) radioligand therapy. Little is known about bone metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa) resistance to radiation. Methods: We filtered the metastatic eRNA using RNA-seq, MeRIP-seq, RT-qPCR and bioinformation. Western blot, RT-qPCR, CLIP, co-IP and RNA pull-down assays were used for RNA/protein interaction, RNA or protein expression examination. MTS assay was used to determine cell viability in vitro, xenograft assay was used to examine the tumor growth in mice. Results: In this study, we screened and identified bone-specific N6 adenosine methylation (m 6 A) on enhancer RNA (eRNA) that played a post-transcriptional functional role in bone mPCa and was correlated with radiotherapy (RT) resistance. Further data demonstrated that RNA-binding protein KHSRP recognized both m 6 A at eRNA and m 6 Am at 5'-UTR of mRNA to block RNA degradation from exoribonuclease XRN2. Depletion of the MLXIPe /KHSRP/ PSMD9 regulatory complex inhibited tumor growth and RT sensitization of bone mPCa xenograft in vitro and in vivo . Abstract

Trions, quasiparticles composed of an electron-hole pair bound to a second electron and/or hole, are many-body states with potential applications in optoelectronics. Trions in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenide (TMD) semiconductors have attracted recent interest due to their valley/spin polarization, strong binding energy, and tunability through external gate control. However, low materials quality ( i.e. , high defect density) has hindered efforts to understand the intrinsic properties of trions. The low photoluminescence (PL) quantum yield (QY) and short lifetime of trions have prevented harnessing them in device applications. Here, we study the behavior of trions in a series of MoSe 2 monolayers, with atomic defect density varying by over 2 orders of magnitude. The QY increases with decreasing defect density and approaches unity in the cleanest material. Simultaneous measurement of the PL lifetime yields both the intrinsic radiative lifetime and the defect-dependent nonradiative lifetime. The long lifetime of ∼230 ps of trions allows direct observation of their diffusion.
