Abstract

Objective To investigate the synergistic bacteriostatic effect of terpinen-4-ol (T4O) and α-bisabolol (Bis) on Staphylococcus aureus (S.aureus) and Cutibacterium acnes (C.acnes). Methods The microdilution checkerboard technique was used to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of T4O combined with Bis on the two etu perimental bacteria, and fractional inhibitory concentration index (FICI) was calculated. An MIC group (T4O and Bis at a concentration of MIC), a 2×MIC group (T4O and Bis at a concentration of 2×MIC), and a negative control group (no T4O or Bis added) were set up for each experimental bacterium; the time-bactericidal curve was plotted for each experimental bacterium after the addition of both T4O and Bis; each group of the two experimental bacteria was measured in terms of Zeta potential (ZP) on the surface of the strain, leakage of intracellular nucleic acid and protein, damage of bacterial biofilm, and respiratory chain dehydrogenase activity in S.aureus after the addition of both T4O and Bis; a transmission electron microscope was used to observe the influence of T4O combined with Bis on the morphology of the two experimental bacteria. Abstract

Produced by both nature and human activities, sulfur dioxide (SO2) is an important species in the earth's atmosphere. SO2 has also been found in the atmospheres of other planets and satellites in the solar system. The photoabsorption cross sections and photodissociation of SO2 have been studied for several decades. In this paper, we reported the experimental results for photodissociation dynamics of SO2 via the G ̃ 1B1 state. By analyzing the images from the time-sliced velocity map ion imaging method, the vibrational state population distributions and anisotropy parameters were obtained for the O(1D2) + SO(X3Σ−, a1Δ, b1Σ+) and O(1S0) + SO(X3Σ−) channels, and the branching ratios for the channels O(1D2) + SO(X3Σ−), O(1D2) + SO(a1Δ), and O(1D2) + SO(b1Σ+) were determined to be ∼0.3, ∼0.6, and ∼0.1, respectively. The SO products were dominant in electronically and rovibrationally excited states, which may have yet unrecognized roles in the upper planetary atmosphere. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Magnetic refrigeration technology is regarded as one of the ideal solutions for cryogenic refrigeration, while magnetocaloric materials are the crucial ones. A series of polycrystalline RE2Ti2O7 (RE = Gd, Tb, and Ho) compounds were prepared by a simple one-step solid-phase reaction method in the atmosphere. The crystal structure, magnetic properties, and magnetocaloric effect (MCE) of these compounds were systematically investigated. Crystallographic research indicates that these compounds crystallized in a pyrochlore structure. Meanwhile, magnetic measurements illustrate that this class of pyrochlore oxides is highly frustrated magnetic materials and exhibits complex magnetic behavior. In addition, under the field change of 0–1 T, the values of the maximum magnetic entropy change (− Δ S M max ) and the refrigeration capacity are calculated to be 0.9 and 5.8 J/kg for Gd2Ti2O7, 9.0 and 32.9 J/kg for Tb2Ti2O7, 9.9 and 29.9 J/kg for Ho2Ti2O7, respectively. Therefore, RE2Ti2O7 (RE = Tb and Ho) pyrochlores exhibit excellent MCEs under low magnetic fields, providing candidate materials for the application of cryogenic magnetic refrigeration technology. Abstract

The flexible DC line protection based on the double-ended method with large communication and long action time is greatly affected by factors such as noise, which makes it difficult to set. Based on this, a pilot protection method of flexible DC line based on Jaccard similarity integration criterion is proposed. Firstly, the fault characteristics of voltage and current change rate in the case of internal and external faults of flexible DC lines are analyzed, and the conversion relationship between analog quantities and logical quantities is constructed respectively. Then a Jaccard similarity model based on the comparison of logical quantities under the 0.5 ms data window is proposed. The integrated criterion is constructed with high similarity to realize fault type identification, and fault starting and fault pole selection criteria are not required. Finally, the double-ended longitudinal protection scheme based on the comparison of logical quantities realizes the rapid protection of the flexible DC line. The scheme is easy to be implemented, because the protection principle of that is simple with fast action speed. Using the four-terminal flexible straight model built by PSCAD/EMTDC, the protection effectiveness in various scenarios such as different fault types, high-resistance grounding, and noise interference inside and outside the zone were verified.
