Objective Modifying 3D tubular DNA origami nanostructures (DONs) onto the mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) membrane surface to obtain DONs@MSCs. Utilizing the characteristics of MSCs homing lung tissue to achieve targeted delivery of DONs to the lungs of mice. Methods The computer-aided tools for DNA sequence were used to design and obtain obtain pre-designed DONs. The morphology of assembled DONs was characterized by atomic force microscopy(AFM), and the upload of functional groups was verified by agarose gel electrophoresis (AGE). Fluorescent labeled single-strand DNA(ssDNA) was modified on the surface of MSCs using biological orthometabolic sugar engineering. According to the principle of complementary base pairing, DONs were modified on the MSCs surface. Using confocal microscopy and flow cytometry to detect the ssDNA and DONs, and using in vivo imaging to observe the distribution of DONs in lung tissue. Results DONs had been successfully assembled. MSCs membrane surface was successfully modified with ssDNA, and DONs were successfully hybridized to obtain DONs@MSCs. Compared to DONs, the enrichment of DONs@MSCs in the lungs of mice was significantly enhanced. Conclusions DONs@MSCs can be used for DONs targeted delivery to lung tissue of mice. This method provides a new strategy for drug delivery of DONs in lung tissues.

The application of mineral fertilizers can effectively enhance crop yields. However, this potential benefit may be diminished if the use of mineral fertilizers leads to a substantial decline in soil organic carbon (SOC) and an increase in soil greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. This study aimed to determine the optimal fertilizer combinations and rates for improving SOC and maize yield while reducing GHG emissions in the semi-arid uplands of Kenya. Data were collected from five different fertilizer treatments (N50, N100, N150, N100+manure, and N100+straw) compared to a control (N0) in a long-term experimental field, which was used to run and validate the DNDC model before using it for long-term predictions. The results showed that the combination of mineral fertilizer and straw resulted in the highest SOC balance, followed by that of fertilizer and manure. All fertilized treatments had higher maize grain yields compared to low-fertilizer treatment (N50) and control (N0). Daily CO2 fluxes were highest in the treatment combining mineral fertilizer and manure, whereas there were no significant differences in N2O fluxes among the three tested treatments. The findings of this study indicate that the judicious application of mineral fertilizer, animal manure, and straw has great potential in enhancing SOC and maize yields while reducing GHG emissions, thereby providing practical farming management strategies in semi-arid Kenya. The remediation and exploitation of sandy saline soils, an underutilized resource, can be enhanced by a greater comprehension of the impact of plants and microorganisms on nutrient cycling. However, there is scant research information on the capacity of different trees and shrubs to improve carbon and nitrogen cycling in saline soils at different depth layers. This study investigated the effect of the trees Zelkova serrata (ZS) and Ligustrum lucidum (LL) and shrub Hibiscus syriacus (HS) on the carbon and nitrogen fractions, soil enzyme activities and microbial communities in sandy saline soils. Planting ZS, LL or HS improved soil quality, increased soil carbon and nitrogen content, changed rhizosphere soil metabolites and enhanced soil enzyme activities and microbial abundance and diversity. Compared to values in the bare soil, the highest reduction in soil salinity was noticed under Zelkova serrata (49%) followed by Ligustrum lucidum (48%). The highest increase in total soil organic carbon (SOC) was noted under Ligustrum lucidum and Hibiscus syriacus (62% each), followed by Zelkova serrata (43%), as compared to levels in the bare soil. In the 0–10 cm soil layer, the total N in bare soil was 298 ± 1.48 mg/kg, but after planting LL, ZS or HS, the soil total N increased by 101%, 56% and 40%, respectively. Compared with that of the bare soil, cbbL sequencing showed that the relative abundance of Bradyrhizobium increased and that of Bacillus decreased due to planting. Similarly, the nifH sequencing results indicated that the relative abundance of Bradyrhizobium and Motiliproteu increased and that of Desulfuromonas and Geoalkalibacter decreased. These findings suggested that soil microorganisms could play a pivotal role in the carbon and nitrogen cycle of saline soils by influencing the content of soil carbon and nitrogen. Given the increasing concerns regarding greenhouse gas emissions associated with livestock production, the need to discover effective strategies to mitigate methane production in ruminants is clear. Marine algal polysaccharides have emerged as a promising research avenue because of their abundance and sustainability. Polysaccharides, such as alginate, laminaran, and fucoidan, which are extracted from marine seaweeds, have demonstrated the potential to reduce methane emissions by influencing the microbial populations in the rumen. This comprehensive review extensively examines the available literature and considers the effectiveness, challenges, and prospects of using marine seaweed polysaccharides as feed additives. The findings emphasise that marine algal polysaccharides can modulate rumen fermentation, promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms, and inhibit methanogenic archaea, ultimately leading to decreases in methane emissions. However, we must understand the long-term effects and address the obstacles to practical implementation. Further research is warranted to optimise dosage levels, evaluate potential effects on animal health, and assess economic feasibility. This critical review provides insights for researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders dedicated to advancing sustainable livestock production and methane mitigation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
