Abstract

The large-scale integration of distributed renewable energy sources into the electricity grid requires the investigation of new methods to ensure stability. For example, Active Distribution Networks (ADNs) can be used at (sub-) transmission levels for emergency operation, provided robust and efficient control is available. This paper investigates the use of Feasible Operating Regions (FORs) and Flexibility Regions (FRs) for Cross-Voltage-Level Power Flow Control (CPFC). The enhancement of network stability due to the provision of ancillary services is illustrated, as is the need for strengthened cooperation between Transmission (TSOs) and Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Optimal power flow methods are considered, focusing on computational advances through PieceWise Linearization (PWL) and convex relaxation techniques aiming to speed up runtime while keeping high accuracy. Abstract

Objective: To establish a rapid method for moisture detection of high cellulose and lignin materials. Methods: The areca nut, a Chinese herbal medicine containing high cellulose and lignin, was selected. Use a near-infrared spectrometer to collect near-infrared diffuse reflectance spectra. Apply NIR Cal modeling software to preprocess the spectral data, select the optimal feature wavelengths, and use partial least squares (PLS) analysis to establish a quantitative model for areca nut moisture content. Results: A quantitative model for areca nut moisture content was acquired, with the coefficient of determination of 0.994 2, the root mean square of the calibration error (RMSEC) of 0.50, the coefficient of determination for the validation set of 0.986 7, the root mean square of the prediction error (RMSEP) of 0.68. Conclusion: This method is simple, fast, safe, practical, and accurate, suitable for the rapid determination of moisture content in materials containing high cellulose and lignin.

Abstract

Pulsed electric field (PEF) is an up-to-date non-thermal processing technology with a wide range of applications in the food industry. The inactivation effect of PEF on Escherichia coli was different under different conditions. The E. coli inactivated number was 1.13 ± 0.01 lg CFU/mL when PEF was treated for 60 min and treated with 0.24 kV/cm. The treatment times were found to be positively correlated with the inactivation effect of PEF, and the number of E. coli was reduced by 3.09 ± 0.01 lg CFU/mL after 100 min of treatment. The inactivation assays showed that E. coli was inactivated at electrical intensity (0.24 kV/cm) within 100 min, providing an effective inactivating outcome for Gram-negative bacteria. The purpose of this work was to investigate the cellular level (morphological destruction, intracellular macromolecule damage, intracellular enzyme inactivation) as well as the molecular level via transcriptome analysis. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (TFESEM) and Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) results demonstrated that cell permeability was disrupted after PEF treatment. Entocytes, including proteins and DNA, were markedly reduced after PEF treatment. In addition, the activities of Pyruvate Kinase (PK), Succinate Dehydrogenase (SDH), and Adenosine Triphosphatase (ATPase) were inhibited remarkably for PEF-treated samples. Transcriptome sequencing results showed that differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to the biosynthesis of the cell membrane, DNA replication and repair, energy metabolism, and mobility were significantly affected. In conclusion, membrane damage, energy metabolism disruption, and other pathways are important mechanisms of PEF's inhibitory effect on E. coli. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

43. Facile electrospinning synthesis of S-scheme heterojunction CoTiO3/g-C3N4nanofiber with enhanced visible light photocatalytic activity

Abstract

Photocatalysts featuring S-scheme heterojunctions offer considerable potential for both the photocatalytic CO2conversion and the degradation of antibiotics, providing practical solutions for energy crises and environmental challenges. In this work, 1D/2D CoTiO3/g-C3N4(CTO/CN) S-scheme heterojunction is synthesized through electrospinning and calcination. The close interweaving of g-C3N4nanosheets around CoTiO3nanofibers creates ample contact areas and active sites, resulting in exceptional photocatalytic CO production capability. The optimal mass ratio of CoTiO3to g-C3N4is 2%, and the CO and CH4yields are 46.5 and 0.825 μmol g-1h-1. Moreover, comparing with monomeric g-C3N4, this composite achieves a better CO yield with 43.5 times and displays an impressive product selectivity of 98.3% for CO2-CO photoreduction. In addition, the 2% CTO/CN photocatalyst demonstrates outstanding photocatalytic degradation efficiency, with degradation rates of 95.88%, 95.53%, and 71.23% for tetracycline hydrochloride, oxytetracycline, and ofloxacin, respectively. These enhanced photocatalytic properties are attributed to the S-scheme system constructed by CoTiO3with g-C3N4, maintaining strong oxidation-reduction capabilities while efficiently segregating photogenerated charges, with the existence of S-scheme heterojunction confirmed through various analyses. Furthermore, in situstudies and 13C calibration experiments reveal that CO and CH4originate from the photocatalytic CO2conversion, further highlighting the potential of this work in advancing CO2photoreduction. This study offers novel insights into designing effective S-scheme heterojunction photocatalysts for practical applications to address environmental and energy challenges.
