While financial data presents one of the most challenging and interesting sequence modelling tasks due to high noise, heavy tails, and strategic interactions, progress in this area has been hindered by the lack of consensus on quantitative evaluation paradigms. To address this, we present LOB-Bench, a benchmark, implemented in python, designed to evaluate the quality and realism of generative message-by-order data for limit order books (LOB) in the LOBSTER format. Our framework measures distributional differences in conditional and unconditional statistics between generated and real LOB data, supporting flexible multivariate statistical evaluation. The benchmark also includes features commonly used LOB statistics such as spread, order book volumes, order imbalance, and message inter-arrival times, along with scores from a trained discriminator network. Lastly, LOB-Bench contains "market impact metrics", i.e. the cross-correlations and price response functions for specific events in the data. We benchmark generative autoregressive state-space models, a (C)GAN, as well as a parametric LOB model and find that the autoregressive GenAI approach beats traditional model classes.

Traditional Anomaly Detection (AD) methods have predominantly relied on unsupervised learning from extensive normal data. Recent AD methods have evolved with the advent of large pre-trained vision-language models, enhancing few-shot anomaly detection capabilities. However, these latest AD methods still exhibit limitations in accuracy improvement. One contributing factor is their direct comparison of a query image's features with those of few-shot normal images. This direct comparison often leads to a loss of precision and complicates the extension of these techniques to more complex domains--an area that remains underexplored in a more refined and comprehensive manner. To address these limitations, we introduce the anomaly personalization method, which performs a personalized one-to-normal transformation of query images using an anomaly-free customized generation model, ensuring close alignment with the normal manifold. Moreover, to further enhance the stability and robustness of prediction results, we propose a triplet contrastive anomaly inference strategy, which incorporates a comprehensive comparison between the query and generated anomaly-free data pool and prompt information. Extensive evaluations across eleven datasets in three domains demonstrate our model's effectiveness compared to the latest AD methods. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and cardiac dyssynchrony are major public health problems in the United States. Precise cardiac image segmentation is crucial for extracting quantitative measures that help categorize cardiac dyssynchrony. However, achieving high accuracy often depends on centralizing large datasets from different hospitals, which can be challenging due to privacy concerns. To solve this problem, Federated Learning (FL) is proposed to enable decentralized model training on such data without exchanging sensitive information. However, bandwidth limitations and data heterogeneity remain as significant challenges in conventional FL algorithms. In this paper, we propose a novel efficient and adaptive federate learning method for cardiac segmentation that improves model performance while reducing the bandwidth requirement. Our method leverages the low-rank adaptation (LoRA) to regularize model weight update and reduce communication overhead. We also propose a \mymethod{} aggregation technique to address data heterogeneity among clients. This technique adaptively penalizes the aggregated weights from different clients by comparing the validation accuracy in each client, allowing better generalization performance and fast local adaptation. While mainstream vision-language models (VLMs) have advanced rapidly in understanding image level information, they still lack the ability to focus on specific areas designated by humans. Rather, they typically rely on large volumes of high-quality image-text paired data to learn and generate posterior attention maps. To address this critical issue, we propose leveraging visual prompts:simple visual markers in various forms to guide and enhance the formation of region-specific attention. Thus, we introduce MedVP, a pioneering framework that integrates medical entity extraction, visual prompt generation, and dataset adaptation for visual prompt guided fine-tuning. We successfully outperform recent state-of-the-art large models across multiple medical VQA datasets. Extensive experiments and Human evaluation are conducted to analyze the impact of different visual prompt forms and how they contribute to performance improvement. As soft continuum manipulators characterize terrific compliance and maneuverability in narrow unstructured space, low stiffness and limited dexterity are two obvious shortcomings in practical applications. To address the issues, a novel asymmetric coaxial antagonistic tubular robot (CATR) arm with high stiffness has been proposed, where two asymmetrically patterned metal tubes were fixed at the tip end with a shift angle of 180{\deg} and axial actuation force at the other end deforms the tube. Delicately designed and optimized steerable section and fully compliant section enable the soft manipulator high dexterity and stiffness. The basic kinetostatics model of a single segment was established on the basis of geometric and statics, and constrained optimization algorithm promotes finding the actuation inputs for a given desired task configuration. In addition, we have specifically built the design theory for the slits patterned on the tube surface, taking both bending angle and stiffness into account. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed robot arm is dexterous and has greater stiffness compared with same-size continuum robots. Furthermore, experiments also showcase the potential in minimally invasive surgery.

We propose a novel Fr\'echet sufficient dimension reduction (SDR) method based on kernel distance covariance, tailored for metric space-valued responses such as count data, probability densities, and other complex structures. The method leverages a kernel-based transformation to map metric space-valued responses into a feature space, enabling efficient dimension reduction. By incorporating kernel distance covariance, the proposed approach offers enhanced flexibility and adaptability for datasets with diverse and non-Euclidean characteristics. The effectiveness of the method is demonstrated through synthetic simulations and several real-world applications. In all cases, the proposed method runs faster and consistently outperforms the existing Fr\'echet SDR approaches, demonstrating its broad applicability and robustness in addressing complex data challenges.

Contemporary Text-to-Image (T2I) models frequently depend on qualitative human evaluations to assess the consistency between synthesized images and the text prompts. There is a demand for quantitative and automatic evaluation tools, given that human evaluation lacks reproducibility. We believe that an effective T2I evaluation metric should accomplish the following: detect instances where the generated images do not align with the textual prompts, a discrepancy we define as the `hallucination problem' in T2I tasks; record the types and frequency of hallucination issues, aiding users in understanding the causes of errors; and provide a comprehensive and intuitive scoring that close to human standard. To achieve these objectives, we propose a method based on large language models (LLMs) for conducting question-answering with an extracted scene-graph and created a dataset with human-rated scores for generated images. From the methodology perspective, we combine knowledge-enhanced question-answering tasks with image evaluation tasks, making the evaluation metrics more controllable and easier to interpret. For the contribution on the dataset side, we generated 12,000 synthesized images based on 1,000 composited prompts using three advanced T2I models. Subsequently, we conduct human scoring on all synthesized images and prompt pairs to validate the accuracy and effectiveness of our method as an evaluation metric. All generated images and the human-labeled scores will be made publicly available in the future to facilitate ongoing research on this crucial issue. Extensive experiments show that our method aligns more closely with human scoring patterns than other evaluation metrics.

Most functional materials possess one single outstanding property and are limited to be used for a particular purpose. Instead of integrating materials with different functions into one module, designing materials with controllable multi-functions is more promising for the electronic industry. In this study, we investigate an unexplored alpha-phase of two-dimensional (2D) Mn2B2(OH)2 theoretically. Eighteen distinct electrical polarizations, characterized by three different magnitudes and twelve different directions, are found in this phase. The switch of the electrical polarizations is also linked to an observed splitting of band structures between different spin states and the ferroelasticity of the system. The manipulation of these properties can be realized through controlling the alignment of Mn-OH-Mn chains. Additionally, the approximately honeycomb lattice for the atomic layer of boron indicate the potential superconductivity in the system. Traditionally, style has been primarily considered in terms of artistic elements such as colors, brushstrokes, and lighting. However, identical semantic subjects, like people, boats, and houses, can vary significantly across different artistic traditions, indicating that style also encompasses the underlying semantics. Therefore, in this study, we propose a zero-shot scheme for image variation with coordinated semantics. Specifically, our scheme transforms the image-to-image problem into an image-to-text-to-image problem. The image-to-text operation employs vision-language models e.g., BLIP) to generate text describing the content of the input image, including the objects and their positions. Subsequently, the input style keyword is elaborated into a detailed description of this style and then merged with the content text using the reasoning capabilities of ChatGPT. Finally, the text-to-image operation utilizes a Diffusion model to generate images based on the text prompt. To enable the Diffusion model to accommodate more styles, we propose a fine-tuning strategy that injects text and style constraints into cross-attention. This ensures that the output image exhibits similar semantics in the desired style. To validate the performance of the proposed scheme, we constructed a benchmark comprising images of various styles and scenes and introduced two novel metrics. Multi-channel EEG signals are commonly used for the diagnosis and assessment of diseases such as epilepsy. Currently, various EEG diagnostic algorithms based on deep learning have been developed. However, most research efforts focus solely on diagnosing and classifying current signal data but do not consider the prediction of future trends for early warning. Additionally, since multi-channel EEG can be essentially regarded as the spatio-temporal signal data received by detectors at different locations in the brain, how to construct spatio-temporal information representations of EEG signals to facilitate future trend prediction for multi-channel EEG becomes an important problem. This study proposes a multi-signal prediction algorithm based on generative diffusion models (EEG-DIF), which transforms the multi-signal forecasting task into an image completion task, allowing for comprehensive representation and learning of the spatio-temporal correlations and future developmental patterns of multi-channel EEG signals. Here, we employ a publicly available epilepsy EEG dataset to construct and validate the EEG-DIF. The results demonstrate that our method can accurately predict future trends for multi-channel EEG signals simultaneously. Furthermore, the early warning accuracy for epilepsy seizures based on the generated EEG data reaches 0.89. In general, EEG-DIF provides a novel approach for characterizing multi-channel EEG signals and an innovative early warning algorithm for epilepsy seizures, aiding in optimizing and enhancing the clinical diagnosis process. Discrete diffusion models have achieved success in tasks like image generation and masked language modeling but face limitations in controlled content editing. We introduce DICE (Discrete Inversion for Controllable Editing), the first approach to enable precise inversion for discrete diffusion models, including multinomial diffusion and masked generative models. By recording noise sequences and masking patterns during the reverse diffusion process, DICE enables accurate reconstruction and flexible editing of discrete data without the need for predefined masks or attention manipulation. We demonstrate the effectiveness of DICE across both image and text domains, evaluating it on models such as VQ-Diffusion, Paella, and RoBERTa. Our results show that DICE preserves high data fidelity while enhancing editing capabilities, offering new opportunities for fine-grained content manipulation in discrete spaces. Sound event detection (SED) methods that leverage a large pre-trained Transformer encoder network have shown promising performance in recent DCASE challenges. However, they still rely on an RNN-based context network to model temporal dependencies, largely due to the scarcity of labeled data. In this work, we propose a pure Transformer-based SED model with masked-reconstruction based pre-training, termed MAT-SED. Specifically, a Transformer with relative positional encoding is first designed as the context network, pre-trained by the masked-reconstruction task on all available target data in a self-supervised way. Both the encoder and the context network are jointly fine-tuned in a semi-supervised manner. Furthermore, a global-local feature fusion strategy is proposed to enhance the localization capability. Ensuring the general efficacy and goodness for human beings from medical large language models (LLM) before real-world deployment is crucial. However, a widely accepted and accessible evaluation process for medical LLM, especially in the Chinese context, remains to be established. In this work, we introduce "MedBench", a comprehensive, standardized, and reliable benchmarking system for Chinese medical LLM. First, MedBench assembles the currently largest evaluation dataset (300,901 questions) to cover 43 clinical specialties and performs multi-facet evaluation on medical LLM. Second, MedBench provides a standardized and fully automatic cloud-based evaluation infrastructure, with physical separations for question and ground truth. Third, MedBench implements dynamic evaluation mechanisms to prevent shortcut learning and answer remembering. Applying MedBench to popular general and medical LLMs, we observe unbiased, reproducible evaluation results largely aligning with medical professionals' perspectives. Smart homes, powered by the Internet of Things, offer great convenience but also pose security concerns due to abnormal behaviors, such as improper operations of users and potential attacks from malicious attackers. Several behavior modeling methods have been proposed to identify abnormal behaviors and mitigate potential risks. However, their performance often falls short because they do not effectively learn less frequent behaviors, consider temporal context, or account for the impact of noise in human behaviors. In this paper, we propose SmartGuard, an autoencoder-based unsupervised user behavior anomaly detection framework. First, we design a Loss-guided Dynamic Mask Strategy (LDMS) to encourage the model to learn less frequent behaviors, which are often overlooked during learning. Second, we propose a Three-level Time-aware Position Embedding (TTPE) to incorporate temporal information into positional embedding to detect temporal context anomaly. Third, we propose a Noise-aware Weighted Reconstruction Loss (NWRL) that assigns different weights for routine behaviors and noise behaviors to mitigate the interference of noise behaviors during inference. Comprehensive experiments on three datasets with ten types of anomaly behaviors demonstrates that SmartGuard consistently outperforms state-of-the-art baselines and also offers highly interpretable results., Comment: KDD 2024

Multimodal learning, integrating histology images and genomics, promises to enhance precision oncology with comprehensive views at microscopic and molecular levels. However, existing methods may not sufficiently model the shared or complementary information for more effective integration. In this study, we introduce a Unified Modeling Enhanced Multimodal Learning (UMEML) framework that employs a hierarchical attention structure to effectively leverage shared and complementary features of both modalities of histology and genomics. Specifically, to mitigate unimodal bias from modality imbalance, we utilize a query-based cross-attention mechanism for prototype clustering in the pathology encoder. Our prototype assignment and modularity strategy are designed to align shared features and minimizes modality gaps. An additional registration mechanism with learnable tokens is introduced to enhance cross-modal feature integration and robustness in multimodal unified modeling. Our experiments demonstrate that our method surpasses previous state-of-the-art approaches in glioma diagnosis and prognosis tasks, underscoring its superiority in precision neuro-Oncology.

Two-dimensional (2D) ferromagnets and their heterostructures offer fertile grounds for designing fascinating functionalities in ultra-thin spintronic devices. Here, by first-principles calculations, we report the discovery of energetically and thermodynamically stable 2D ferromagnets with very strong inplane magnetic anisotropy in MnXY (X = S, and Se; Y = Cl, Br and I) monolayers. Remarkably, we find that the Curie temperatures of the ferromagnetic MnSBr, MnSI, MnSeCl, and MnSeI monolayers are as high as 271, 273, 231 and 418 K, respectively. In addition, we demonstrate that these ferromagnetic monolayers are intrinsic half-metals with large spin band gaps ranging from 2.5 eV to 3.2 eV. When spin-orbit coupling is considered in these ferromagnetic monolayers, the nature of their half-metal is almost unaffected. Finally, the strong inplane magnetic anisotropy of MnSY (Y = Br, I) and MnSeY (Y = Cl, I) monolayers originate mainly from halogen and chalcogen atoms, respectively. Diffusion models and multi-scale features are essential components in semantic segmentation tasks that deal with remote-sensing images. They contribute to improved segmentation boundaries and offer significant contextual information. U-net-like architectures are frequently employed in diffusion models for segmentation tasks. These architectural designs include dense skip connections that may pose challenges for interpreting intermediate features. Consequently, they might not efficiently convey semantic information throughout various layers of the encoder-decoder architecture. To address these challenges, we propose a new model for semantic segmentation known as the diffusion model with parallel multi-scale branches. This model consists of Parallel Multiscale Diffusion modules (P-MSDiff) and a Cross-Bridge Linear Attention mechanism (CBLA). P-MSDiff enhances the understanding of semantic information across multiple levels of granularity and detects repetitive distribution data through the integration of recursive denoising branches. It further facilitates the amalgamation of data by connecting relevant branches to the primary framework to enable concurrent denoising. Furthermore, within the interconnected transformer architecture, the LA module has been substituted with the CBLA module. This module integrates a semidefinite matrix linked to the query into the dot product computation of keys and values. This integration enables the adaptation of queries within the LA framework. This adjustment enhances the structure for multi-head attention computation, leading to enhanced network performance and CBLA is a plug-and-play module. Our model demonstrates superior performance based on the J1 metric on both the UAVid and Vaihingen Building datasets, showing improvements of 1.60% and 1.40% over strong baseline models, respectively.

The emergence of multiferroic materials, which possess both ferromagnetic (FM) and ferroelectric (FE) properties, drive advancements in magnetoelectric applications and the next generation of spintronics. Based on first-principles calculations, we investigate an engineered two-dimensional multiferroic van der Waals heterostructures consisting of FM VSiSnN4 monolayer (ML) and fully hydrogenated FE AlN bilayer. We find that the magnetic anisotropy of VSiSnN4 ML is tunable between out-of-plane and in-plane and a phase transition between semiconductor and metal is induced in VSiSnN4/AlN bilayer when the FE polarization direction of AlN bilayer is reversed. Surprisingly, when the FE polarization of AlN bilayer is upward, the Curie temperature of VSiSnN4/AlN bilayer can be significantly increased from 204K to 284K. The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare presents a transformative potential for enhancing operational efficiency and health outcomes. Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, have shown their capabilities in supporting medical decision-making. Embedding LLMs in medical systems is becoming a promising trend in healthcare development. The potential of ChatGPT to address the triage problem in emergency departments has been examined, while few studies have explored its application in outpatient departments. With a focus on streamlining workflows and enhancing efficiency for outpatient triage, this study specifically aims to evaluate the consistency of responses provided by ChatGPT in outpatient guidance, including both within-version response analysis and between-version comparisons. For within-version, the results indicate that the internal response consistency for ChatGPT-4.0 is significantly higher than ChatGPT-3.5 (p=0.03) and both have a moderate consistency (71.2% for 4.0 and 59.6% for 3.5) in their top recommendation. However, the between-version consistency is relatively low (mean consistency score=1.43/3, median=1), indicating few recommendations match between the two versions. Also, only 50% top recommendations match perfectly in the comparisons. Interestingly, ChatGPT-3.5 responses are more likely to be complete than those from ChatGPT-4.0 (p=0.02), suggesting possible differences in information processing and response generation between the two versions. The findings offer insights into AI-assisted outpatient operations, while also facilitating the exploration of potentials and limitations of LLMs in healthcare utilization. Adapting a medical image segmentation model to a new domain is important for improving its cross-domain transferability, and due to the expensive annotation process, Unsupervised Domain Adaptation (UDA) is appealing where only unlabeled images are needed for the adaptation. Existing UDA methods are mainly based on image or feature alignment with adversarial training for regularization, and they are limited by insufficient supervision in the target domain. In this paper, we propose an enhanced Filtered Pseudo Label (FPL+)-based UDA method for 3D medical image segmentation. It first uses cross-domain data augmentation to translate labeled images in the source domain to a dual-domain training set consisting of a pseudo source-domain set and a pseudo target-domain set. To leverage the dual-domain augmented images to train a pseudo label generator, domain-specific batch normalization layers are used to deal with the domain shift while learning the domain-invariant structure features, generating high-quality pseudo labels for target-domain images. We then combine labeled source-domain images and target-domain images with pseudo labels to train a final segmentor, where image-level weighting based on uncertainty estimation and pixel-level weighting based on dual-domain consensus are proposed to mitigate the adverse effect of noisy pseudo labels. Experiments on three public multi-modal datasets for Vestibular Schwannoma, brain tumor and whole heart segmentation show that our method surpassed ten state-of-the-art UDA methods, and it even achieved better results than fully supervised learning in the target domain in some cases., Comment: 12 pages, 7 figures

Given a conditional expectation $P$ from a C*-algebra $B$ onto a C*-subalgebra $A$, we observe that induction of ideals via $P$, together with a map which we call co-induction, forms a Galois connection between the lattices of ideals of $A$ and $B$. Using properties of this Galois connection, we show that, given a discrete group $G$ and a stabilizer subgroup $G_x$ for the action of $G$ on its Furstenberg boundary, induction gives a bijection between the set of maximal co-induced ideals of $C^*(G_x)$ and the set of maximal ideals of $C^*_r(G)$. As an application, we prove that the reduced C*-algebra of Thompson's group $T$ has a unique maximal ideal. The emerging trend of advancing generalist artificial intelligence, such as GPTv4 and Gemini, has reshaped the landscape of research (academia and industry) in machine learning and many other research areas. However, domain-specific applications of such foundation models (e.g., in medicine) remain untouched or often at their very early stages. It will require an individual set of transfer learning and model adaptation techniques by further expanding and injecting these models with domain knowledge and data. The development of such technologies could be largely accelerated if the bundle of data, algorithms, and pre-trained foundation models were gathered together and open-sourced in an organized manner. In this work, we present OpenMEDLab, an open-source platform for multi-modality foundation models. It encapsulates not only solutions of pioneering attempts in prompting and fine-tuning large language and vision models for frontline clinical and bioinformatic applications but also building domain-specific foundation models with large-scale multi-modal medical data. Importantly, it opens access to a group of pre-trained foundation models for various medical image modalities, clinical text, protein engineering, etc. Inspiring and competitive results are also demonstrated for each collected approach and model in a variety of benchmarks for downstream tasks. This study presents a novel multimodal medical image zero-shot segmentation algorithm named the text-visual-prompt segment anything model (TV-SAM) without any manual annotations. The TV-SAM incorporates and integrates the large language model GPT-4, the vision language model GLIP, and the SAM to autonomously generate descriptive text prompts and visual bounding box prompts from medical images, thereby enhancing the SAM's capability for zero-shot segmentation. Comprehensive evaluations are implemented on seven public datasets encompassing eight imaging modalities to demonstrate that TV-SAM can effectively segment unseen targets across various modalities without additional training. TV-SAM significantly outperforms SAM AUTO and GSAM, closely matching the performance of SAM BBOX with gold standard bounding box prompts and surpasses the state-of-the-art methods on specific datasets such as ISIC and WBC. The study indicates that TV-SAM serves as an effective multimodal medical image zero-shot segmentation algorithm, highlighting the significant contribution of GPT-4 to zero-shot segmentation. Recent studies have made remarkable progress in histopathology classification. Based on current successes, contemporary works proposed to further upgrade the model towards a more generalizable and robust direction through incrementally learning from the sequentially delivered domains. Unlike previous parameter isolation based approaches that usually demand massive computation resources during model updating, we present a memory-efficient prompt tuning framework to cultivate model generalization potential in economical memory cost. For each incoming domain, we reuse the existing parameters of the initial classification model and attach lightweight trainable prompts into it for customized tuning. Considering the domain heterogeneity, we perform decoupled prompt tuning, where we adopt a domain-specific prompt for each domain to independently investigate its distinctive characteristics, and one domain-invariant prompt shared across all domains to continually explore the common content embedding throughout time. All domain-specific prompts will be appended to the prompt bank and isolated from further changes to prevent forgetting the distinctive features of early-seen domains. While the domain-invariant prompt will be passed on and iteratively evolve by style-augmented prompt refining to improve model generalization capability over time. In specific, we construct a graph with existing prompts and build a style-augmented graph attention network to guide the domain-invariant prompt exploring the overlapped latent embedding among all delivered domains for more domain generic representations. We have extensively evaluated our framework with two histopathology tasks, i.e., breast cancer metastasis classification and epithelium-stroma tissue classification, where our approach yielded superior performance and memory efficiency over the competing methods., Comment: Accepted by AAAI 2024

The efficacy of large language models (LLMs) in domain-specific medicine, particularly for managing complex diseases such as osteoarthritis (OA), remains largely unexplored. This study focused on evaluating and enhancing the clinical capabilities of LLMs in specific domains, using osteoarthritis (OA) management as a case study. A domain specific benchmark framework was developed, which evaluate LLMs across a spectrum from domain-specific knowledge to clinical applications in real-world clinical scenarios. DocOA, a specialized LLM tailored for OA management that integrates retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and instruction prompts, was developed. The study compared the performance of GPT-3.5, GPT-4, and a specialized assistant, DocOA, using objective and human evaluations. Results showed that general LLMs like GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 were less effective in the specialized domain of OA management, particularly in providing personalized treatment recommendations. However, DocOA showed significant improvements. This study introduces a novel benchmark framework which assesses the domain-specific abilities of LLMs in multiple aspects, highlights the limitations of generalized LLMs in clinical contexts, and demonstrates the potential of tailored approaches for developing domain-specific medical LLMs., Comment: 16 Pages, 7 Figures

Large language models (LLMs) are a class of artificial intelligence models based on deep learning, which have great performance in various tasks, especially in natural language processing (NLP). Large language models typically consist of artificial neural networks with numerous parameters, trained on large amounts of unlabeled input using self-supervised or semi-supervised learning. However, their potential for solving bioinformatics problems may even exceed their proficiency in modeling human language. In this review, we will provide a comprehensive overview of the essential components of large language models (LLMs) in bioinformatics, spanning genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, drug discovery, and single-cell analysis. Key aspects covered include tokenization methods for diverse data types, the architecture of transformer models, the core attention mechanism, and the pre-training processes underlying these models. Additionally, we will introduce currently available foundation models and highlight their downstream applications across various bioinformatics domains. Finally, drawing from our experience, we will offer practical guidance for both LLM users and developers, emphasizing strategies to optimize their use and foster further innovation in the field., Comment: 5 main figures

AI and robotics technologies have witnessed remarkable advancements in the past decade, revolutionizing work patterns and opportunities in various domains. The application of these technologies has propelled society towards an era of symbiosis between humans and machines. To facilitate efficient communication between humans and intelligent robots, we propose the "Avatar" system, an immersive low-latency panoramic human-robot interaction platform. We have designed and tested a prototype of a rugged mobile platform integrated with edge computing units, panoramic video capture devices, power batteries, robot arms, and network communication equipment. Under favorable network conditions, we achieved a low-latency high-definition panoramic visual experience with a delay of 357ms. Operators can utilize VR headsets and controllers for real-time immersive control of robots and devices. The system enables remote control over vast physical distances, spanning campuses, provinces, countries, and even continents (New York to Shenzhen). Additionally, the system incorporates visual SLAM technology for map and trajectory recording, providing autonomous navigation capabilities. We believe that this intuitive system platform can enhance efficiency and situational experience in human-robot collaboration, and with further advancements in related technologies, it will become a versatile tool for efficient and symbiotic cooperation between AI and humans., Comment: 9 pages, 4 figures

The fisheye camera, with its unique wide field of view and other characteristics, has found extensive applications in various fields. However, the fisheye camera suffers from significant distortion compared to pinhole cameras, resulting in distorted images of captured objects. Fish-eye camera distortion is a common issue in digital image processing, requiring effective correction techniques to enhance image quality. This review provides a comprehensive overview of various methods used for fish-eye camera distortion correction. The article explores the polynomial distortion model, which utilizes polynomial functions to model and correct radial distortions. Additionally, alternative approaches such as panorama mapping, grid mapping, direct methods, and deep learning-based methods are discussed. The review highlights the advantages, limitations, and recent advancements of each method, enabling readers to make informed decisions based on their specific needs.

Large and rich data is a prerequisite for effective training of deep neural networks. However, the irregularity of point cloud data makes manual annotation time-consuming and laborious. Self-supervised representation learning, which leverages the intrinsic structure of large-scale unlabelled data to learn meaningful feature representations, has attracted increasing attention in the field of point cloud research. However, self-supervised representation learning often suffers from model collapse, resulting in reduced information and diversity of the learned representation, and consequently degrading the performance of downstream tasks. To address this problem, we propose PointMoment, a novel framework for point cloud self-supervised representation learning that utilizes a high-order mixed moment loss function rather than the conventional contrastive loss function. Moreover, our framework does not require any special techniques such as asymmetric network architectures, gradient stopping, etc. Specifically, we calculate the high-order mixed moment of the feature variables and force them to decompose into products of their individual moment, thereby making multiple variables more independent and minimizing the feature redundancy. We also incorporate a contrastive learning approach to maximize the feature invariance under different data augmentations of the same point cloud. Experimental results show that our approach outperforms previous unsupervised learning methods on the downstream task of 3D point cloud classification and segmentation., Comment: 15 pages,3 figures
