Abstract

The basic feature of intertwining natural reproduction and economic reproduction in agricultural economic management determines its high risk. This paper calculates the marginal value of each variable input factor in the agricultural economic management mode through the total income function and analyzes the optimal combination between each variable input factor and agricultural output by combining with the theory of diminishing marginal returns so as to maximize the economic returns in the agricultural economic management mode and achieve the optimization of risk management and control in the agricultural economic management mode. The results of the example show that if the incremental index in the agricultural economic management model of Gansu Province is greater than the level of the previous year, the growth of expenses in the agricultural economy is considered effective. It is also found that the risk of natural disasters is the highest in the agricultural economic management model in Gansu Province, especially the average risk value of wind and hailstorms reaches 1.143, which is much higher than the risk of grain production (0.031), which has the lowest risk level. This paper provides an effective reference for optimizing the effective control of risk in the agricultural economic management model and lays the foundation for improving the economic efficiency of the agricultural economic management model.

Abstract

Background: Few studies have explored the relationship between air pollution and arrhythmia onset at the hourly level. We aimed to examine the association of exposure to air pollution with the onset of acute symptomatic arrhythmia at an hourly level. Methods: We conducted a nationwide, time-stratified, case-crossover study in China between 2015 and 2021. We obtained hourly information on the onset of symptomatic arrhythmia (including atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, atrial and ventricular premature beats and supraventricular tachycardia) from the Chinese Cardiovascular Association Database--Chest Pain Center (including 2025 certified hospitals in 322 cities). We obtained data on hourly concentrations of 6 air pollutants from the nearest monitors, including fine particles (P[M.sub.2.5]), coarse particles (P[M.sub.2.5-10]), nitrogen dioxide (N[O.sub.2]), sulfur dioxide (S[O.sub.2]), carbon monoxide (CO) and ozone. For each patient, we matched the case period to 3 or 4 control periods during the same hour, day of week, month and year. We used conditional logistic regression models to analyze the data. Results: We included a total of 190 115 patients with acute onset of symptomatic arrhythmia. Air pollution was associated with increased risk of onset of symptomatic arrhythmia within the first few hours of exposure; this risk attenuated substantially after 24 hours. An interquartile range increase in P[M.sub.2.5], N[O.sub.2], S[O.sub.2] and CO in the first 24 hours after exposure (i.e., lag period 0-24 h) was associated with significantly higher odds of atrial fibrillation (1.7%-3.4%), atrial flutter (8.1%-11.4%) and supraventricular tachycardia (3.4%-8.9%). Exposure to P[M.sub.2.5-10] was associated with significantly higher odds of atrial flutter (8.7%) and supraventricular tachycardia (5.4%), and exposure to ozone was associated with higher odds of supraventricular tachycardia (3.4%). The exposure-response relationships were approximately linear, without discernible concentration thresholds. Interpretation: Exposure to air pollution was associated with the onset of symptomatic arrhythmia shortly after exposure. Abstract

Lung adenocarcinoma is the most common pathological type of lung cancer with poor patient outcomes; therefore, developing novel therapeutic agents is critically needed. Andrographolide (AD), a major active component derived from the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) Andrographis paniculate, is a potential antitumor drug, but the role of AD in lung adenocarcinoma remains poorly understood. In the present study, we demonstrated that AD inhibited the proliferation of broad-spectrum lung cancer cell lines in a dose-dependent manner. Meanwhile, we found that a high dose of AD induced Noxa-dependent apoptosis in human lung adenocarcinoma cells (A549 and H1299). Further studies revealed that Noxa was transcriptionally activated by activating transcription factor 4 (ATF4) in AD-induced apoptosis. Knockdown of ATF4 by small interfering RNA (siRNA) significantly diminished the transactivation of Noxa as well as the apoptotic population induced by AD. These results of the present study indicated that AD induced apoptosis of human lung adenocarcinoma cells by activating the ATF4/Noxa axis and supporting the development of AD as a promising candidate for the new era of chemotherapy.

49. EPNs Exhibit Repulsion to Prenol in Pluronic Gel Assays.

Abstract

Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are lethal parasites of insects that have become valuable in biological control and as a model system for studying host-parasite interactions, behavioral ecology, neurobiology, and genomics, among other fields. Their ability to locate hosts is paramount to successful infection and host seeking has been extensively studied in many species in the lab. Here, we explored the usefulness of pluronic gel as a medium to assess EPN host seeking in the lab by characterizing the response of Steinernema carpocapsae, S. feltiae, S. glaseri, S. riobrave, Heterorhabditis bacteriophora, and H. indica to the odor prenol. We found that the infective juveniles (IJs) of these species were repelled by prenol in pluronic gel. We then evaluated how storing the IJs of S. carpocapsae, S. feltiae, and S. glaseri for different amounts of time affected their behavioral responses to prenol. The response of S. carpocapsae was significantly affected by the storage time, while the responses of S. feltiae and S. glaseri were unaffected. Our data support the notion that pluronic gel is a useful medium for studying EPN behavior and that the response of S. carpocapsae to informative odors is significantly affected by long-term storage.
