1. Mild Mechanic Stimulate on Acupoints Regulation of CGRP-Positive Cells and Microglia Morphology in Spinal Cord of Sciatic Nerve Injured Rats

Abstract

ObjectiveThe objective of this study is to observe the effects of mild mechanical stimulation on acupuncture points of spinal motor neurons and active substances of sciatic nerve injury in rats, and to explore the morphological basis for the recovery of motor function in rats with sciatic nerve injury, using mild acupuncture. Acupuncture in the local area of injury may cause further damage to the peripheral nerve injury. We believe that mild mechanical stimulation on the surface, using some specific acupuncture points can also have a positive effect on nerve repair. This method, called Chinese tuina, has existed for more than 2,000 years in China.MethodsThis study establishes a rat model using sciatic nerve crush injury. Rats received Chinese tuina in accordance with the principle of the three methods and three points, once a day, for 20 days. The rats’ status of hindlimb recovery was detected by a sciatic functional index. The labeled neuronal cell body was used to evaluate the fiber recovery after the rats’ sciatic nerve injury, using a neural tracing technique. Our team studied motor neuronal cell bodies, CGRP-positive cells, and the microglia of damaged sciatic nerves which were stained with fluorescent triple staining, adopting a confocal multi-layer scanning technique, and then the changes in neuronal activity distribution and expression, and changes of time and treatment were described, using the method of morphological description.ResultsSciatic nerve injury decreased the survival rate of motor neurons, affected CGRP-positive cells, and activated microglia in the ventral horn of the spinal cord. Compared with the model group, the survival of spinal ventral horn motor neurons was increased through tuina intervention. The swelling of CGRP-positive cells was alleviated, and the degree of microglia activation was less than that of the model group.ConclusionThis study used visual morphological findings to assess changes in neurons and active substances with time after injury of the peripheral nerve, and demonstrated that peripheral mild acupuncture intervention improved the capacity of neurofibrillary axoplasmic transport, regulated microglia activation, and significantly promoted the recovery of sciatic nerve injury.

14. The diagnostic value of circulating abnormal cells in early lung cancer

Abstract

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths globally. Early detection of lung cancer can lead to more effective treatment and improved survival. Circulatory abnormal cells (CACs) with specific chromosomal variation may be used to diagnose lung cancer and to differentiate benign from malignant nodules. The value of CAC in precancer diagnosis, however, remains controversial. In this study, a systematic review and meta-analysis are conducted to clarify the diagnostic value of CAC in early-stage lung cancer. A systematic literature search was conducted using the following medical topic title terms and text-free words: “circulating genetically abnormal cells”, “CACs”, “liquid biopsy”, “early lung cancer”, “non-small cell lung cancer”, “diagnostic accuracy”, “sensitivity” and “specificity” in Science Direct, CNKI and Wanfang databases, respectively. Sensitivity, specificity, positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, and area under the curve were analyzed by STATA15.0 (MP) software. Deek funnel plots were used to assess potential publication bias. Heterogeneity was tested using the I2 statistic and the Cochrane Q test. 7 major studies were included in this meta-analysis, and a total of 53728 participants were analyzed. In the diagnosis of early lung cancer, CAC had pooled sensitivity, specificity, and receiver operating characteristics of 0.80 (95% CI: 0.73-0.86), 0.85 (95% CI: 0.69-0.94), and 0.87 (95% CI: 0.84-0.90). The combined positive likelihood ratio, negative likelihood ratio, diagnostic odds ratio, and diagnostic score were 23.36 (95% CI: 7.33-74.46), 5.42 (95% CI: 2.37-12.43), 0.23 (95% CI: 0.16-0.35) and 3.15 (95% CI: 1.99-4.31) respectively. Publication bias was not detected. The CAC is effective at detecting lung cancer in its early stages.

Abstract

Thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) is a promising approach to harvest triplet excitons and achieve high-performance organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) for displays. In this study, we synthesized two new TADF emitters, 4Ac25CzPy and 4Ac35CzPy, featuring acridan–pyrimidine–carbazole moieties. Remarkably, a slight modification in the carbazole group position enables precise control of luminous color, resulting in emissions at 483 nm and 494 nm for 4Ac25CzPy and 4Ac35CzPy, respectively, in the electroluminescent device. Both compounds exhibit small energy difference between their singlet and triplet states (ΔEST) of 0.14 eV and 0.15 eV, confirming their TADF characteristics. Notably, OLEDs utilizing 4Ac35CzPy achieve outstanding performance with the maximum external quantum efficiency (ηEQE) of 21.2% and a photoluminescence quantum yield of 65.1%. This high efficiency is attributed to efficient energy transfer from the host to the emitter. Moreover, the 4Ac35CzPy device exhibits a high light outcoupling efficiency of 0.3, further enhancing its remarkable performance. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Interpretation of the enigmatic soft-bodied yunnanozoans from the Lower Cambrian ( Stage 3, Series 2) Chengjiang Biota has remained controversial for decades because of their strange body plan and their variable taphonomic alteration. Proposed affinities have ranged from stem bilaterian to stem vertebrate. A study of over seven hundred slabs, many newly collected, from five sections at two localities demonstrates that yunnanozoans have sclerotized dorsal and axial segments, a body cavity, a unique feeding region and a coiled alimentary canal. Although two genera have been previously discriminated, all specimens have the same number of filamentous arches (seven pairs) and of ventral circular structures (four pairs); this indicates that Haikouella Chen, Huang and Li, 1999 is a junior synonym of Yunnanozoon Hou, Ramsköld and Bergström, 1991. Our analysis reveals new details of the putative pharyngeal pores of Yunnanozoon lividum, and although there are similarities with the gill slits of deuterostomes, the question of their homology remains moot. The filamentous arches and their supporting rods were probably sclerotized and represent a specialized feeding structure. Yunnanozoans exhibit characters that are open to a number of alternative interpretations of putative homology, encompassing comparisons with deuterostomes and protostomes (including members of the Platyzoa). Given their unique features, and the current lack of secure homologies, the affinities of yunnanozoans should continue to be considered in a wider bilaterian context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
