Summary: The light-harvesting complex II of Bryopsis corticulans (B-LHCII), a green alga, differs from that of spinach (S-LHCII) in chlorophyll (Chl) and carotenoid (Car) compositions. We investigated ultrafast excitation dynamics of B-LHCII with visible-to-near infrared time-resolved absorption spectroscopy. Absolute fluorescence quantum yield (ΦFL) of LHCII and spectroelectrochemical (SEC) spectra of Chl a and b were measured to assist the spectral analysis. Red-light excitation at Chl Qy-band, but not Car-band, induced transient features resembling the characteristic SEC spectra of Chl a⋅+ and Chl b⋅−, indicating ultrafast photogeneration of Chl-Chl charge transfer (CT) species; ΦFL and 3Car∗ declined whereas CT species increased upon prolonging excitation wavelength, showing positive correlation of 1Chl∗ deactivation with Chl-Chl CT formation. Moreover, ultrafast Chl b-to-Chl a and Car-to-Chl singlet excitation transfer were illustrated. The red-light induction of Chl-Chl CT species, as also observed for S-LHCII, is considered a general occurrence for LHCIIs in light-harvesting form.

Objective: To analyze the correlation between placenta related disease of pregnant women with antecedent hysteroscopic adhesiolysis due to intrauterine adhesions (IUA). Materials and methods: This is a single center, non-randomized, open-label, retrospective cohort Study. 74 patients who had adhesiolysis and hormone therapy for IUA and progressed into the third trimester were group A and 296 without IUA were group B. The main outcome measure is the incidence of placenta related disease including placenta accreta spectrum, placenta previa, placental abruption, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH). The second outcome is the perinatal, and intrapartum complications. Abstract Increasing evidences suggest that intestinal microbiota balance closely correlated with host’s health status could affected by external environment. Integrated crayfish-rice cultivation model is a highly efficient artificial ecosystem widely practiced in subtropical China. Less information is available to estimate the influence response to the micro-ecology of crayfish intestine and so as to influence the biological processes. Thus, 16S rRNA high-throughput sequencing approach was employed to investigate the composition diversity and functions of bacterial community in the intestines of Procambarus clarkii farmed within this model. Results exhibited the highly diversity of microflora with dominant phyla Actinobacteria, Proteobacteria, Tenericutes, Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. The genera of Candidatus Bacilloplasma and Ornithinibacter were presented as predominant population much exceeds in richness comparing to that of other genus. Despite the highly diversity in the bacterial community, the predicted functions indicated relative consistent in biological processing pathway. Collectively, significant richness of genes was observed involved in amino acid and carbohydrate metabolism and membrane transport processing. This study would contribute to the understanding of the impact of growth conditions on host–microbiota relation especially in aquatic animals.

AIM: To observe the agreement of the lower tear meniscus height(LTMH)measurements using RTVue XR and Keratograph ocular surface analyzer, and to compare intraobserver repeatability and interobserver reproducibility between the two devices in the virginal and FS-LASIK eyes. METHODS: Totally 52 virginal eyes and 52 FS-LASIK eyes were included during January 2019 in Guangzhou Aier Eye Hospital. LTMH measurements were performed using RTVue XR and Keratograph Ocular Surface Analyzer. A paired t-test was used to compare the difference between LTMH values using the two devices. The with-subject standard deviation(Sw), test-retest repeatability(2.77Sw), coefficient of variation(CoV)and intraclass correlation coefficient(ICC)were calculated to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility. RESULTS: In the virginal eyes group, the average LTMH obtained with RTVue XR and Keratograph were 261.12±80.29μm and 235.05±78.40μm, respectively. CoV and ICC were 5.55% and 0.98 for RTVue XR, 14.90% and 0.87 for Keratograph, respectively. In the FS-LASIK group, the average LTMH were 234.55±68.38μm and 208.22±73.85μm, respectively. CoV and ICC were 5.29% and 0.97 for RTVue XR, 16.16% and 0.87 for Keratograph, respectively. CONCLUSION: In the virginal and FS-LASIK eyes, the LTMH value obtained with RTVue XR is 25μm greater than Keratograph. RTVue XR has a better reliability than Keratograph and can be used to measure the LTMH.

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an emergent infectious pneumonia caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), which is highly contagious and pathogenic. COVID-19 has rapidly swept across the world since it was first discovered in December 2019 and has drawn significant attention worldwide. During the early stages of the outbreak in China, traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) were involved in the whole treatment process. As an indispensable part of TCM, Chinese patent medicines (CPMs) played an irreplaceable role in the prevention and treatment of this epidemic. Their use has achieved remarkable therapeutic efficacy during the period of medical observation and clinical treatment of mild, moderate, severe, and critical cases and during convalescence. In order to better propagate and make full use of the benefits of TCM in the treatment of COVID-19, this review will summarize the potential target of SARS-CoV-2 as well as the theoretical basis and clinical efficacy of recommended 22 CPMs by the National Health Commission and the Administration of TCM and local provinces or cities in the treatment of COVID-19. Additionally, the study will further analyze the drug composition, potential active ingredients, potential targets, regulated signaling pathways, and possible mechanisms for COVID-19 through anti-inflammatory and immunoregulation, antiviral, improve lung injury, antipyretic and organ protection to provide meaningful information about the clinical application of CPMs.

The main purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of coal mining on the springs in the Yushenfu mining area of China. The results of two springs and hydrological surveys conducted in 1994 and 2015 were compared to study the occurrence and evolution of springs before and after large-scale mining. The mechanism of spring evolution and ecological effects of domain evolution were analyzed by combined groundwater monitoring and evaluation of coal mining intensity. The results show that the maximum amount of single water inflow of spring with sand infiltration recharge was more than 10 L/s, the total amount of single water inflow of spring with mixed infiltration recharge was the highest, and the ecological effect of spring with loess infiltration recharge was the most significant. In the study area, 2580 springs (group) were distributed with a total flow of 4998.9428 L/s before 1994 and 376 residual springs (group) were present with a total flow of 996.392 L/s in 2015. Large-scale mining decreased the regional groundwater level, thus decreasing the amount of spring water. The high intensity of mining decreased the number of springs (group) and area of water and wetland in the study area. This directly affected the watershed ecology; the ecological degradation was significant.

Ultrafast near-infrared absorption spectroscopy was used to investigate the influence of film morphology and excitation photon energy on the charge recombination (CR) dynamics in the initial nanosecond timescale in the P3HT/PC61BM blend films. With reference to the CS2-cast films, the solvent vapor annealed (SVA) ones show 2–3-fold improvement in hole mobility and more than 5-fold reduction in the polymer-localized trap states of holes. At Dt = 70 ps, the hole mobility (mh) and the bimolecular CR rate (gbi) of the SVA films are mh = 8.7 × 10−4 cm2×s−1×V−1 and gbi = 4.5 × 10−10 cm3×s−1, whereas at Dt = 1 ns they drop to 8.7 × 10−5 cm2×s−1×V−1 and 4.6 × 10−11 cm3×s−1, respectively. In addition, upon increasing the hole concentration, the hole mobility increases substantially faster under the above-gap photoexcitation than it does under the band-gap photoexcitation, irrespective of the film morphologies. The results point to the importance of utilizing the photogenerated free charges in the early timescales.

A new type of blue emitter, N2-Indolyl-1,2,3-triazoles (NITs), with the λmax ranging from 420–480 nm and the Stokes shift from 89–143 nm, were synthesized through the coupling reaction of indoles with triazole derivatives. The influence of different substitution patterns on the optical properties (efficiency, excitation, and emission wavelengths) of the NITs was investigated. In addition, one palladium complex were synthesized by using NITs as the ligands, which, however, exhibited no fluorescent activity, but did show the enhanced co-planarity. Lastly, two bio-active molecule derivatives were explored for the potential use of these novel dyes in related chemical and biological applications.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of air purifier therapy for patients with allergic asthma., Methods: Thirty-eight subjects were categorized under two groups namely treatment group and control group. All subjects were under 18 years of age and they had been clinically diagnosed with allergic asthma. The treatment group used high efficiency particulate air (HEPA) purifiers for six consecutive months, and the control group did not use the air filters. Particulate matter (PM) data and dust samples (from bedding and a static point) were collected from the subjects' bedrooms before they started using the air purifiers and each month thereafter. Simultaneously, the subjects were asked to complete a questionnaire for the Asthma Control Test (ACT) or Childhood Asthma Control Test (C-ACT). Fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FENO) tests were performed at the start and end of the study. The concentrations of Der p1 and Der f1 were measured in the dust samples., Results: (1) After utilizing the air purifier, the concentrations of house dust mite (HDM) allergens (Der p1+ Der f1) in the dust samples decreased. In addition, the PM indoor/outdoor values significantly decreased. (2) The ACT and C-ACT scores in the treatment group maintained a steady significant upward trend. (3) At the end of the study, the FENO levels in both groups were lower, although the differences were not significant., Conclusions: It is witnessed that HEPA air purifiers can decrease indoor HDM allergen and PM levels and improve the quality of life for allergic asthma patients., Competing Interests: The authors declare no direct, indirect, or personal interest.
