Background : Previous studies, including Mendelian randomization (MR), have demonstrated type 2 diabetes (T2D) and glycemic traits are associated with increased risk of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). However, few studies have explored the underlying pathway, such as the role of iron homeostasis. Methods: We used a two-step MR approach to investigate the associations of genetic liability to T2D, glycemic traits, iron biomarkers, and liver diseases. We analyzed summary statistics from various genome-wide association studies of T2D (n = 933,970), glycemic traits (n ≤ 209,605), iron biomarkers (n ≤ 246,139), MASLD (n ≤ 972,707), and related biomarkers (alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and proton density fat fraction (PDFF)). Our primary analysis was based on inverse-variance weighting, followed by several sensitivity analyses. We also conducted mediation analyses and explored the role of liver iron in post hoc analysis. Results: Genetic liability to T2D and elevated fasting insulin (FI) likely increased risk of liver steatosis (ORliability to T2D: 1.14 per doubling in the prevalence, 95% CI: 1.10, 1.19; ORFI: 3.31 per log pmol/l, 95% CI: 1.92, 5.72) and related biomarkers. Liability to T2D also likely increased the risk of developing liver cirrhosis. Genetically elevated ferritin, serum iron, and liver iron were associated with higher risk of liver steatosis (ORferritin: 1.25 per SD, 95% CI 1.07, 1.46; ORliver iron: 1.15 per SD, 95% CI: 1.05, 1.26) and liver cirrhosis (ORserum iron: 1.31, 95% CI: 1.06, 1.63; ORliver iron: 1.34, 95% CI: 1.07, 1.68). Ferritin partially mediated the association between FI and liver steatosis (proportion mediated: 7%, 95% CI: 2–12%). Conclusions: Our study provides credible evidence on the causal role of T2D and elevated insulin in liver steatosis and cirrhosis risk and indicates ferritin may play a mediating role in this association. Targeting the reduction of ferritin may mitigate the risk of liver steatosis arising from elevated insulin. • Liver iron is likely to be positively associated with liver steatosis and the irreversible stage, liver cirrhosis, and mediates the association of ferritin and liver steatosis. • Genetically elevated HbA1c is shown to decrease the risk of liver steatosis due to its erythrocytic property. Inkjet 3D printing has potential in the additive manufacturing of electronic circuits and devices. However, inks that can be used for printing layers with T5%>300 °C or hardness>200 MPa have been rarely reported. Cyanate ester (CE) polymers have excellent thermal stability, high strength, and low shrinkage compared to other common dielectric inks for inkjet 3D printing, but cannot be quickly shaped by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation or thermal treatment. Combining CEs with UV-curable monomers may be a possible way to accelerate crosslinking, but there are challenges from the adverse effects of the dilution of both monomers. In this study, dielectric inks with acrylate and cyanate moieties were developed. The low viscosity and surface tension of the CE precursor (Bisphenol E cyanate ester) were combined with photocurable acrylate diluent monomers and cross-linker to realize an ink suitable for inkjet 3D printing. An internal dual three-dimensional cross-linked network structure resin was prepared by a combination of photocuring and thermal curing with T5% up to 326.69 °C, hardness up to 431.84 MPa, dielectric constant of 2.70 at 8 GHz, and shrinkage of 1.64%. Agaricus is a species-rich genus with more than 600 species around the world. In this work, three new species, Agaricus cacainus, A. baiyunensis, and A. praeclarefibrillosus are described from the specimens collected at Baiyun Mountain, Guangzhou, China, a subtropical area with a monsoon maritime climate, based on phylogenetic analyses and morphological examinations of internal transcribed spacer (ITS1-5.8S-ITS2 = ITS), D1/D2 domains of the large subunit of ribosomal DNA (28S), and a part of translation elongation factor 1-alpha (TEF1). Agaricus cacainus in A. sect. Amoeni is characterized by a parabolic to applanate, slightly depressed pileus covered with chocolate brown, appressed, triangular squamules against white background, a white, furfuraceous stipe, an unchanging context when cut, a fragile and evanescent annulus, usually 4- or 2-spored basidia, and mostly pyriform cheilocystidia. Agaricus baiyunensis in A. sect. Minores has a pileus with a slightly truncate top covered with light brown, downy-wooly fibrillose scales and a light yellowish stipe with membranous annulus. Agaricus praeclarefibrillosus in A. sect. Brunneopicti is characterized by a pileus surface with brownish, triangular, recurved scales and longitudinally splitting lines toward margin, a cottony stipe with white, tiny, recurved fibrils, a single annulus, and variously shaped cheilocystidia, with sparsely ornamented basidiospores. Two typical Cu-based complex catalysts with piperazine (PR) and p-phenylenediamine (pPDA) ligands were designed to elucidate whether the ligands can tailor the reduction behavior of the Cu species and thus modulate their electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (eCO2RR) activity. Specifically, Cu-PR underwent a significant in situ transformation into Cu nanoparticles enriched with a Cuδ+/Cu0 interface for high eCO2RR activity, compared to Cu-pPDA. This study investigates the effectiveness of an exopolysaccharide (EPS)‐producing strain (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum L75) alone or in combination with Saccharomyces cerevisiae on the fermentation characteristics, antioxidant capacities and microbial community successions of oat silage stored at various temperatures. A rapid decrease in pH and lactic acid accumulation was observed in silages treated with L. plantarum and S. cerevisiae (LS) as early as 3 days of ensiling (p < 0.05). Over the ensiling period of 7–60 days, L. plantarum (L)‐inoculated groups showed the lowest pH, lowest ammonia nitrogen and the highest amount of lactic acid regardless of the storage temperatures. When the oat silage was stored at 15°C, LS‐inoculated group exhibited a higher superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity than control and L‐inoculated group. Furthermore, the proportion of Lactiplantibacillus in the combined inoculation group increased by 65.42% compared to the L‐inoculated group (33.26%). Fungal community data revealed abundant Penicillium carneum in the control and L‐inoculated groups stored at 15°C. Conclusively, these results showed that combined inoculation of L. plantarum L75 and S. cerevisiae improved the fermentation quality of oat silage at 15°C, thus proposing a technique for enhancing the fermentation quality of silage in regions with low temperatures during harvest season. Z-Scheme heterojunction, recognized as one of the optimal methods for the separation of electrons and holes, is extensively applied in the domain of photocatalytic. Leveraging the Z-Scheme heterojunction for photocatalytic and solar interfacial water evaporation presents a promising solution for the purification of dye wastewater and the mitigation of organic pollutant accumulation on traditional solar absorbers. In this study, WO 3 /ZnIn 2 S 4 heterojunction was synthesized through a two-step solvothermal method, and resulting WO 3 /ZnIn 2 S 4 , which rested on a flexible substrate Ti mesh, possessed the dual functionality of interfacial water evaporation and photocatalytic treatment of dye wastewater, which not only water evaporation rate for WO 3 /ZnIn 2 S 4 reached 1.26 kgꞏm−2ꞏh−1 but also the Z-Scheme heterojunction WO 3 /ZnIn 2 S 4 empowered it to effectively degrade dye wastewater, with a degradation rate of Rhodamine B up to 98.6%. The harmonization of these two functionalities effectively circumvented the issue of secondary pollution commonly associated with dye wastewater treatment. This study effectively integrates photocatalysis into a cutting-edge solar-driven interfacial evaporation system, effectively expanding the capabilities of a multifunctional solar absorber and introducing novel applications for zero-discharge dye wastewater treatment. RNA-protein interaction (RPI) is crucial to the life processes of diverse organisms. Various researchers have identified RPI through long-term and high-cost biological experiments. Although numerous machine learning and deep learning-based methods for predicting RPI currently exist, their robustness and generalizability have significant room for improvement. This study proposes LPI-MFF, an RPI prediction model based on multi-source information fusion, to address these issues. The LPI-MFF employed protein–protein interactions features, sequence features, secondary structure features, and physical and chemical properties as the information sources with the corresponding coding scheme, followed by the random forest algorithm for feature screening. Finally, all information was combined and a classification method based on convolutional neural networks is used. The experimental results of fivefold cross-validation demonstrated that the accuracy of LPI-MFF on RPI1807 and NPInter was 97.60% and 97.67%, respectively. In addition, the accuracy rate on the independent test set RPI1168 was 84.9%, and the accuracy rate on the Mus musculus dataset was 90.91%. Parenting style plays an important role in children's externalizing behaviors. Differences in physiological regulation among children may lead to variations in whether or to what extent parenting style influences them. The present study aimed to investigate the effect of parenting styles on young children's development of externalizing behaviors and to consider the moderating role of children's physiological regulation (resting respiratory sinus arrhythmia [resting RSA]). Participants included 119 Chinese parent–child dyads (55 girls, T1 M age = 4.62 years, SD age = 0.27 years; T2 M age = 5.73 years, SD age = 0.29 years). At T1, parents reported their parenting styles and children's externalizing behaviors; at T2, children's externalizing behaviors were measured again by parental reports, and children's resting RSA was measured. Authoritarian parenting predicted children's development of externalizing behaviors from T1 to T2, and this effect was moderated by children's resting RSA. For children with low resting RSA, authoritarian parenting positively predicted their development of externalizing behaviors, but no significant relation was found among children with high resting RSA. Permissive parenting was associated with children's externalizing behaviors T1 but not with the development of externalizing behaviors from T1 to T2. The present study demonstrates the crucial role of resting RSA in early childhood and supports the diathesis-stress model by revealing that children with poor physiological regulation are vulnerable to authoritarian parenting and thus develop high externalizing behaviors. Due to the excellent accuracy, the optical lattice clock (OLC) has not only achieved impressive results in frequency measurement but also gradually plays an important role in quantum precision measurement. In this paper, we propose a scheme for measuring gravity at the sub-millimeter scale extracted from the Rabi spectrum based on Super-Bloch oscillations of atoms in the OLC. Our proposal can be realized on the existing OLC platform without significant change. Under realistic existing experimental parameters of 87 S r OLC, we determine the optimal experimental conditions and obtain a sensitivity of 5 μ Gal / Hz in the quantum projection noise limit, which is 50 times better than the previous method at the sub-millimeter scale under the same consideration. Another advantage of our proposal is that it is insensitive to the noise of the lattice laser, which contributes to the major uncertainty of the previous measurement (PRA 86, 033615). Introduction: Lung cancer is the most common cancer in China, with the highest mortality rate. Surgery is the primary treatment for early lung cancer. However, patients with lung cancer have a heavy burden of symptoms within 3 months after surgery, which seriously affects their quality of life (QOL). The symptom management model based on the patient-reported outcome (PRO) is considered the best caregiving model. The clinical evidence about the symptom management of lung cancer within 3 months after the operation is very limited. Herein, we propose a randomized controlled trial to evaluate the PRO score-based monitoring and alert system for follow-up on psychological and physiological symptoms of lung cancer patients within 3 months after surgery and further investigate the effect of intervention measures based on this PRO score-based system. Methods and analysis: This multicenter, open-label, randomized, parallel superiority trial will be conducted at four hospitals in China. A total of 440 lung cancer patients will be recruited in this study, who will be randomly assigned to the intervention group or the control group in a ratio of 1:1. Any of the target symptoms reaches the preset threshold (score ≥ 4), the patients will accept the symptom management advices based on the PRO. The patients in the control group will follow the current standard procedure of symptom management. The symptom management system is an electronic management system based on WeChat mini programs. All patients will be evaluated for symptoms through the lung cancer module of the MDASI lung cancer-specific scale on the day before surgery, days 1, 3, 5, and 7 after surgery, and once a week during the 12-week post-discharge period. Simultaneously, the EORTC QLQ-C30 scale will be used to evaluate patients' quality of life at baseline and the fourth and twelfth week after the surgery. The mean number of symptom threshold events of the intervention and the control groups were compared by t-test, and the changes of PRO were compared by a mixed effect model. The primary endpoint has been set as the 12-week post-discharge period. Discussion: This study will test the feasibility of the symptom management system based on the mobile social media applet in postoperative caregiving and the efficacy of psychiatrist-assisted treatment and provide evidence in managing the symptoms of patients in the medium and long term. Background Mendelian randomization (MR) studies show iron positively associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) but included potentially biasing hereditary haemochromatosis variants and did not assess reverse causality. Methods We assessed the relation of iron homeostasis with T2D and glycaemic traits bidirectionally, using genome-wide association studies (GWAS) of iron homeostasis biomarkers [ferritin, serum iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), transferrin saturation (TSAT) (n  ≤ 246 139)], T2D (DIAMANTE n  =   933 970 and FinnGen n  =   300 483), and glycaemic traits [fasting glucose (FG), 2-h glucose, glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) and fasting insulin (FI) (n  ≤   209 605)]. Inverse variance weighting (IVW) was the main analysis, supplemented with sensitivity analyses and assessment of mediation by hepcidin. Results Iron homeostasis biomarkers were largely unrelated to T2D, although serum iron was potentially associated with higher T2D [odds ratio: 1.07 per standard deviation; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.99 to 1.16; P- value: 0.078) in DIAMANTE only. Higher ferritin, serum iron, TSAT and lower TIBC likely decreased HbA1c, but were not associated with other glycaemic traits. Liability to T2D likely increased TIBC (0.03 per log odds; 95% CI: 0.01 to 0.05; P- value: 0.005), FI likely increased ferritin (0.29 per log pmol/L; 95% CI: 0.12 to 0.47; P- value: 8.72 x 10–4). FG likely increased serum iron (0.06 per mmol/L; 95% CI: 0.001 to 0.12; P- value: 0.046). Hepcidin did not mediate these associations. Conclusion It is unlikely that ferritin, TSAT and TIBC cause T2D although an association for serum iron could not be excluded. Among the natural polyphenolic compounds, resveratrol (RES) is known for reducing the effects of declining reproductive power through resisting senility, anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, while the molecular mechanism of RES in human ovaries is unclear. We aimed to evaluate the most likely mechanisms of RES against apoptosis induced by H2O2 in human ovary granulosa cells. Ovarian granulosa cells from infertile women (≤35 years old) were collected. Those patients defined as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), poor ovarian responder (POR) and Endometriosis were excluded. Then they were randomly divided into control group, model group and the treatment group. Cellular apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometer method. The related protein and mRNA expressions were detected by western blot and RT-PCR. Apoptosis rates of the treatment group containing RES with concentrations of 1 μM and 10 μM were significantly decreased (p < 0.001). Western blot results demonstrated that the proteins levels of transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), Bax and Caspase 9 were decreased, and Bcl-2 was increased under RES treatment, while the protein levels of Caspase 8, Caspase 3, growth differentiation factor 9 (GDF9) and bone morphogenetic protein 15 (BMP15) expressed no significant difference. The results by RT-PCR of follicle and ovarian development related mRNA factors were consistent with that of western blot assay. Background. The systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) is used as an indicator of prognosis for a wide range of diseases. Thyroid function has been found to be strongly associated with inflammation. The purpose of this investigation was to analyze the correlation between SII and various thyroid functions. Methods. This study utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) 2007–2012. The association between SII and thyroid function was analyzed using weighted univariate and multivariate linear regression analyses. Subgroup analyses, interaction tests, and weighted restricted cubic spline (RCS) regression analyses were also employed to test this correlation. Results. Of the 6,875 participants (age ≥ 20 years), the mean age was 46.87 ± 0.40 years. The adjusted model showed that lnSII was negatively correlated with FT3 (β = −0.0559, 95% CI −0.1060 to −0.0059,) and FT3/FT4 (β = −0.0920, 95% CI −0.1667 to −0.0173,). There was a positive correlation between lnSII and TT4 (β = 0.1499, 95% CI 0.0722–0.2276,). In subgroup analyses, lnSII still independently affected a wide range of thyroid functions. Weighted RCS analysis showed a nonlinear relationship between FT3 and lnSII. Conclusion. Close relationships exist between SII and a variety of thyroid functions. SII can be used as an indicator to predict thyroid dysfunction. Control of inflammatory activity may be a protective measure against thyroid dysfunction. Mechanical ventilation (MV) is a life-supporting strategy employed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). However, MV-associated mechanical stress exacerbates existing lung inflammation in ICU patients, resulting in limited improvement in mortality and a condition known as Ventilator-Induced Lung Injury (VILI). Sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) is a circulating bioactive lipid that maintains endothelial integrity primarily through S1P receptor 1 (S1PR1). During VILI, mechanical stress upregulates endothelial S1PR3 levels. Unlike S1PR1, S1PR3 mediates endothelial barrier disruption through Rho-dependent pathways. However, the specific impact of elevated S1PR3 on lung endothelial function, apart from Rho activation, remains poorly understood. In this study, we investigated the effects of S1PR3 in endothelial pathobiology during VILI using an S1PR3 overexpression adenovirus. S1PR3 overexpression caused cytoskeleton rearrangement, formation of paracellular gaps, and a modified endothelial response towards S1P. It resulted in a shift from S1PR1-dependent barrier enhancement to S1PR3-dependent barrier disruption. Moreover, S1PR3 overexpression induced an ADAM10-dependent cleavage of Vascular Endothelial (VE)-cadherin, which hindered endothelial barrier recovery. S1PR3-induced cleavage of VE-cadherin was at least partially regulated by S1PR3-mediated NFκB activation. Additionally, we employed an S1PR3 inhibitor TY-52156 in a murine model of VILI. TY-52156 effectively attenuated VILI-induced increases in bronchoalveolar lavage cell counts and protein concentration, suppressed the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and inhibited lung inflammation as assessed via a histological evaluation. These findings confirm that mechanical stress associated with VILI increases S1PR3 levels, thereby altering the pulmonary endothelial response towards S1P and impairing barrier recovery. In this paper, the bounded invariant surfaces of a generalized Langford system are discussed. Firstly, by the first integrals of systems restricted in the Poincaré sections of a periodic orbit, the accurate expressions of a heteroclinic orbit, a family of invariant tori and a heteroclinic invariant ellipsoid are given near a periodic orbit. Then, applying the successor functions to compute the periods of periodic orbits for the systems in the Poincaré sections, we present the parameter conditions for the existence of periodic orbits with any periods on these invariant tori. Finally, using the averaging theory and the theory of the Poincaré bifurcation and by determining the monotonicity of the ratio of two Abelian integrals, we give the conditions respectively such that the system has a unique invariant torus and a unique heteroclinic invariant ellipsoid near a zero-Hopf equilibrium. The aim of this work was to provide a method to evaluate the yield of DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) for carbon ions, overcoming the bias in existing methods due to the nonrandom distribution of DSBs. A previously established biophysical program based on the radiation track structure and a multilevel chromosome model was used to simulate DNA damage induced by x-rays and carbon ions. The fraction of activity retained (FAR) as a function of absorbed dose or particle fluence was obtained by counting the fraction of DNA fragments larger than 6 Mbp. Simulated FAR curves for the 250 kV x-rays and carbon ions at various energies were compared with measurements using constant-field gel electrophoresis. The doses or fluences at the FAR of 0.7 based on linear interpolation were used to estimate the simulation error for the production of DSBs. The relative difference of doses at the FAR of 0.7 between simulation and experiment was −8.5% for the 250 kV x-rays. The relative differences of fluences at the FAR of 0.7 between simulations and experiments were −17.5%, −42.2%, −18.2%, −3.1%, 10.8%, and −14.5% for the 34, 65, 130, 217, 2232, and 3132 MeV carbon ions, respectively. In comparison, the measurement uncertainty was about 20%. Carbon ions produced remarkably more DSBs and DSB clusters per unit dose than x-rays. The yield of DSBs for carbon ions, ranging from 10 to 16 Gbp−1Gy−1, increased with linear energy transfer (LET) but plateaued in the high-LET end. The yield of DSB clusters first increased and then decreased with LET. This pattern was similar to the relative biological effectiveness for cell survival for heavy ions. The estimated yields of DSBs for carbon ions increased from 10 Gbp−1Gy−1 in the low-LET end to 16 Gbp−1Gy−1 in the high-LET end with 20% uncertainty. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The interpretation of data and optimization spectral acquisition of dissolved organic matter (DOM) by ultrahigh-resolution Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS) have been challenging due to the varied instrument performances among laboratories and the complex chemical characteristics of DOM. However, a universal spectral optimization strategy for FT-ICR MS spectra is still unavailable. The results of this study showed that the number, intensity, and resolving power of all assigned peaks increased with the ion accumulation time (IAT) and DOM concentrations within a reasonable range. The space-charge effect induced by the excess ions in the ICR cell can deteriorate the data quality of the FT-ICR MS spectra, which could be inspected by examining the mass errors and intensity deviation of the monoisotopic and 13C-isotopic peaks based on the 13C-isotopic pattern. The maximum absolute mass error and 13C-isotopic pattern-based intensity deviation are two critical criteria for inspecting the space-charge effect, which was suggested to be 2.0 ppm and 20%, respectively. Therefore, a novel strategy based on the 13C-isotopic pattern has been proposed in this study to optimize the FT-ICR MS spectra of DOM based on their wide occurrence of monoisotopic and 13C-isotopic signals. This optimization strategy has laid the fundamentals for the method development of FT-ICR MS and could be extended to different FT-ICR MS instruments and various organic complex mixtures. Computer vision (CV) technology and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) demonstrate superior feature extraction capabilities in the field of bioengineering. However, during the capturing process of finger-vein images, translation can cause a decline in the accuracy rate of the model, making it challenging to apply CNNs to real-time and highly accurate finger-vein recognition in various real-world environments. Moreover, despite CNNs' high accuracy, CNNs require many parameters, and existing research has confirmed their lack of shift-invariant features. Based on these considerations, this study introduces an improved lightweight convolutional neural network (ILCNN) for finger vein recognition. The proposed model incorporates a diverse branch block (DBB), adaptive polyphase sampling (APS), and coordinate attention mechanism (CoAM) with the aim of improving the model's performance in accurately identifying finger vein features. To evaluate the effectiveness of the model in finger vein recognition, we employed the finger-vein by university sains malaysia (FV-USM) and PLUSVein dorsal-palmar finger-vein (PLUSVein-FV3) public database for analysis and comparative evaluation with recent research methodologies. The experimental results indicate that the finger vein recognition model proposed in this study achieves an impressive recognition accuracy rate of 99.82% and 95.90% on the FV-USM and PLUSVein-FV3 public databases, respectively, while utilizing just 1.23 million parameters. The tremendous advancement of cities has caused changes to the urban subsurface. Urban climate problems have become increasingly prominent, especially with regard to the intensification of the urban heat island (UHI) effect. The local climate zone (LCZ) is a new quantitative method for analyzing urban climate that is based on the kind of urban surface and can effectively deal with the problem of the hazy distinction between urban and rural areas in UHI effect research. LCZs are widely used in regional climate modeling, urban planning, and thermal comfort surveys. Existing large-scale LCZ classification methods usually use visual features of optical images, such as spectral and textural features. There are many problems with hyperspectral LCZ extraction over large areas. LCZ is an integrated concept that includes features of the geography, society, and economy. Consequently, it makes sense to consider the characteristics of human activity and the visual features of the images to interpret them accurately. ALOS_DEM data can depict the city's physical characteristics; however, images of nighttime lights are crucial indicators of human activity. These three datasets can be used in combination to portray the urban environment. Therefore, this study proposes a method for fusing daytime and nighttime data for LCZ mapping, i.e., fusing daytime Zhuhai-1 hyperspectral images and their derived feature indices, ALOS_DEM data, and nighttime light data from Luojia-1. By combining daytime and nighttime information, the proposed approach captures the temporal dynamics of urban areas, providing a more complete representation of their characteristics. The integration of the data allows for a more refined identification and characterization of urban land cover. It comprehensively integrates daytime and nighttime data, exploits synergistic information from multiple sources, and provides higher accuracy and resolution for LCZ mapping. First, we extracted various features, namely spectral, red-edge, and textural features, from the Zhuhai-1 images, ALOS_DEM data, and nighttime light data from Luojia-1. Random forest (RF) and XGBoost classifiers were used, and the average impurity reduction method was employed to assess the significance of the variables. All the input variables were optimized to select the best combination of variables. The results from a study of the 5th ring road area of Beijing, China, revealed that the technique achieved LCZ mapping with good precision, with a total accuracy of 87.34%. In addition, to examine and contrast the effects of various feature indices on the LCZ classification accuracy, feature combination methods were used. The results of the study showed that the accuracies of LCZ classification in terms of spectral and textural were improved by 2.33% and 2.19% using the RF classifier, respectively. The radiation brightness value (RBV) (GI value = 0.0212) attained the classification's highest variable importance value; the DEM also produced a high GI value (0.0159), indicating that night lighting and landform features strongly influence LCZ classification. To clarify the effect of NaCl concentration (0–2.0%) on the formation of amyloid fibrils (AFs) in cooked wheat noodles, the morphology, surface hydrophobicity, secondary structure, molecular weight distribution, microstructure, and crystal structure of AFs were investigated in this paper. Fluorescence data and Congo red stain images confirmed the presence of AFs and revealed that the 0.4% NaCl concentration promoted the production of AFs. The surface hydrophobicity results showed that the hydrophobicity of AFs increased significantly from 3942.05 to 6117.57 when the salt concentration increased from 0 to 0.4%, indicating that hydrophobic interactions were critical for the formation of AFs. Size exclusion chromatography combined with gel electrophoresis plots showed that the effect of NaCl on the molecular weight of AFs was small and mainly distributed in the range of 5–7.1 KDa (equivalent to 40–56 amino acid residues). X-ray diffraction and AFM images showed that the 0.4% NaCl concentration promoted the formation and longitudinal growth of AFs, while higher NaCl concentrations inhibited the formation and expansion of AFs. An ultra-low-noise large-bandwidth transimpedance amplifier (TIA) for cryogenic scanning tunneling microscope (CryoSTM) is proposed. The TIA connected with the tip-sample component in CryoSTM is called as CryoSTM-TIA. Its transimpedance gain is as high as 1 GΩ, and its bandwidth is over 300 kHz, but its equivalent input noise current power spectral density is less than 4 (fA)2/Hz at 100 kHz. The low inherent noise for the CryoSTM-TIA is due to its special design: (1) its pre-amplifier is made of a pair of low-noise cryogenic high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs); (2) the noise generated by one HEMT is eliminated by a large capacitor; (3) the capacitance of the cable connected the gate of the other HEMT to the tip is minimized; (4) thermal noise sources, such as the feedback resistor, are placed in the cryogenic zone. The dc output voltage drift of the CryoSTM-TIA is very low, as 5 μV/°C. The apparatus can be used for measuring the scanning tunneling differential conductance spectra, especially the scanning tunneling shot noise spectra (STSNS) of quantum systems, even if the shot noise is very low. The effect and mechanism of sanxan on the quality of salt‐free noodles (SFNs) were investigated from different cooking stages (initial stage, 1 min; optimum cooking time, OCT; overcooked time, OT). The results showed significant changes in the cooking process with the addition of 1.2% sanxan. The OCT for noodles with 1.2% sanxan (experimental group, EG) was extended from 5 to 7 min compared to the non‐added noodles (blank group, BG) and 1.5% salt‐containing noodles (control group, CG). The hardness and adhesiveness of BG, EG, and CG all decreased significantly during cooking. In contrast, the springiness, maximum tensile strength, and tensile fracture distance trended first to increase and then to decrease. At OCT, EG had the highest hardness (3971.69 ± 94.49 g), adhesiveness (372.26 ± 33.56 g s), and maximum tensile strength (41.51 ± 2.76 g), which remained large even after overcooking. However, those in BG and CG showed a significant reduction (p < 0.05). The proportion of free water increased progressively as cooking progressed, with CG showing the largest increase, from 82.29% to 91.19%, whereas EG showed the smallest increase, from 78.34% to 86.02%. During the cooking process, the addition of sanxan delayed the water migration, whereas salt promoted it. Sensory evaluation showed that EG was smoother in appearance than BG and tasted malty with a slight stickiness. Moreover, EG had the smallest k1 and C∞ values. Thus, sanxan is an effective additive to enhance the quality of SFNs and can replace the role of salt in noodles in some properties, which is beneficial for the development of SFNs. A systematic investigation of voltage effect on the plasma parameters, especially the species densities and chemical reaction mechanisms, in the capacitive N 2 discharges is performed by employing a two-dimensional self-consistent fluid model. The validity of the numerical model is first demonstrated by the qualitative agreement of the calculated and experimental results. Then, the densities, production mechanisms, and loss mechanisms of species from simulation are examined at various voltages. It is found that all the species densities increase monotonically with the voltage, whereas their spatial profiles at lower voltages are quite different from those at higher voltages. The electrons and N 2 + ions are mainly generated by the electron impact ionization of N 2 gas, while the N + ions, whose density is one or two orders of magnitude lower, are mostly formed by the ionization of N atoms. The electron impact dissociation of N 2 gas dominates the generation of N atoms, which are mostly destroyed for the N + ion production. As for the excited N 2 levels, the level conversion processes play a very important role in their production and depletion mechanisms, except for the electron impact excitation of the ground state N 2 molecules. Conventional caustic soda kraft pulping is not a sustainable pretreatment as it can degrade useful resources from the biomass. Here we design reusable acidic ternary deep eutectic solvents (TDES) composed of alanine, lactic acid, and ethylene glycol for fractionation of high-purity lignin and augmentation of lignocellulosic biomass. The selective fractionation yielded lignin free of sulfur and silica, while ensuring that lignin condensation was avoided by the desired stabilization with diols. Advanced nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopic analysis provided a mechanistic understanding of the delignification process and lignin structural transformation. Besides the predominant demethoxylation and cleavage of β-O-4 linkage, lactic acid induced both acylation and oxidation of the substructures, resulting in lignin with desirable molecular weight and monomeric yield (S/G ratio = 3.39), which are beneficial for applications in reinforcement materials and bio-oils. In this work, a design of large-bandwidth high-gain low-noise transimpedance amplifier (TIA) for scanning tunneling microscope (STM) is proposed. The simulations show that the proposed TIA has the bandwidth higher than 200 kHz, two orders of magnitude higher than those of conventional commercial TIAs for STM. At low frequencies, the noises of the proposed TIA are almost the same as the conventional commercial ones with the same transimpedance gain. At high frequencies, its calculated input equivalent noise voltage power spectral density (PSD) is 40 nV2/Hz and its input equivalent noise current PSD is 3.2 fA2/Hz at 10 kHz. The corresponding values are 23 nV2/Hz and 88 fA2/Hz at 100 kHz. The STM with the proposed TIA can meet the needs of fast high-quaility STM imaging measurements and fast high-energy-resolution scanning tunneling spectra measurements for the low-conducting materials, such as complex organic systems and wide bandgap semiconductors. Previous research on fielding in cricket and baseball has focused on the technique and speed-accuracy trade-off of the throw in isolation from a typical sequence of fielding actions; approach, gather and throw. The present study aimed to determine whether a speed-accuracy trade-off existed in fielding and where within the above sequence the trade-off occurs. Participants, who were elite cricketers, were required to run to a stationary ball and throw to the centre of a target in order to run-out a virtual batter. High-speed video was used to record the time of approach, time in contact with, and time of flight of the ball. Two-way ANOVAs were used to determine differences in group (gender) and condition (instructions to prioritise speed or accuracy). A speed-accuracy trade-off was found, with both groups being quicker in the approach and spending less time in contact with the ball in the speed condition; however, the horizontal velocity of the throw remained the same in both conditions. It was proposed the drop in accuracy in the speed condition may be associated with less time spent aiming. Summary: Developing salt‐free frozen‐cooked wheat noodles (FCNs) has a promising future, and how to eliminate the deficiency of the absence of salt is key to enhance its quality. In this study, based on the unique 'gel‐forming in cold water and gel strength‐strengthening during heating' properties, sanxan was used to improve the quality of salt‐free FCNs and the underlying mechanism was initially explored. TPA analysis, colour profile, thermal stability analysis, determination of free sulfhydryl and disulphide bonds contents, scanning electron microscopy observation, confocal laser scanning microscopy observation were carried out. The results showed that adding 1.2% sanxan could minimise the decrease in hardness, springiness, maximum tensile strength and tensile fracture distance, and the increase in adhesiveness of salt‐free FCNs during freeze–thaw treatments (FTs). The chrominance and thermal stability of salt‐free FCNs during FTs were also improved by adding 1.2% sanxan. Adding sanxan could strengthen the gluten network of salt‐free FCNs by weakening the recrystallisation of ice crystals, inhibiting the breakage of SS and enhancing the cross‐linkage degree and continuity of gluten network during FTs. The current study could develop a new preparation strategy of salt‐free convenient noodles and provide theoretical basis for expanding the novel application of sanxan in frozen foods. Background. Galactose-deficient IgA1 (Gd-IgA1) is a critical initiating factor in the pathogenesis of IgA nephropathy (IgAN), which plays an important role in the diagnosis and evaluation of this disease. Moreover, the whole pathogenesis process has an intimate association with the immune response of T and B lymphocytes and their inflammatory factors. There is no specific therapy for IgAN at present. Yiqi Yangyin Formula can significantly reduce urinary protein and hematuria in patients with IgAN. Yiqi Yangying Heluo Formula (YYHF) is optimized on the basis of the above prescription, but its specific mechanism remains to be further studied. Methods. The effect of YYHF on urinary protein and urinary red blood cell count in patients with IgAN was observed by a self-controlled clinical study before and after treatment. On this basis, flow cytometry was used to detect the proportion of T lymphocyte subsets in peripheral blood of patients with IgAN before and after treatment and healthy controls. Meanwhile, the levels of Gd-IgA1, B cell activation factor (BAFF), and their cytokines (IL-4, IL-6, and IL-17) in peripheral blood were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The changes in mechanism-related indicators of the two groups were observed and subject to correlation analysis. Results. (1) Compared with the levels before treatment, 24-hour urinary protein content decreased by 47.7% and urinary red blood cell number decreased by 67% in patients with IgAN intervened by YYHF after 48 weeks of follow-up. (2) Compared with the healthy control group, patients with IgAN showed a significantly increased proportion of Th1 cells, Th17 cells, Th1/Th2, Th1/Treg, Th2/Treg, and Th17/Treg, obviously reduced proportion of Th2 cells and Treg cells, and evidently elevated levels of Gd-IgA1, BAFF, and their cytokines (IL-4, IL-6, and IL-17) in the peripheral blood. (3) Following 48 weeks of follow-up after intervention treatment with YYHF, the levels of Gd-IgA1, BAFF, IL-6, and IL-17 were significantly lower, but the level of IL-4 was higher in peripheral blood of patients with IgAN than those before treatment and after 24 weeks of treatment; simultaneously, the proportion of Th1 cells, Th17 cells, Th1/Th2, Th1/Treg, Th2/Treg, and Th17/Treg decreased while that of Th2 cells and Treg cells increased after 48 weeks of follow-up compared with that before treatment in peripheral blood of patients with IgAN. (4) The results of correlation analysis revealed that the level of Gd-IgA1 in peripheral blood of patients with IgAN was positively correlated with the level of BAFF, as well as the proportion of Th1 cells, Th17 cells, Th1/Th2, IL-6, and IL-17 levels, and negatively correlated with the proportion of Treg cells. In addition, the level of Gd-IgA1 in peripheral blood was positively correlated with proteinuria, yet without correlation with hematuria. Conclusion. YYHF can reduce the quantitative level of 24 h urinary protein and urinary red blood cell count in patients with IgAN. Patients with IgAN have obvious T cell immune imbalance. YYHF can significantly reduce the level of Gd-IgA1 in patients with IgAN, and its mechanism may be explained by the reduced level of BAFF in peripheral blood and improved immune balance of T cells. The local climate zone (LCZ) scheme has been widely utilized in regional climate modeling, urban planning, and thermal comfort investigations. However, existing LCZ classification methods face challenges in characterizing complex urban structures and human activities involving local climatic environments. In this study, we proposed a novel LCZ mapping method that fully uses space-borne multi-view and diurnal observations, i.e. daytime Ziyuan-3 stereo imageries (2.1 m) and Luojia-1 nighttime light (NTL) data (130 m). Firstly, we performed land cover classification using multiple machine learning methods (i.e. random forest (RF) and XGBoost algorithms) and various features (i.e. spectral, textural, multi-view features, 3D urban structure parameters (USPs), and NTL). In addition, we developed a set of new cumulative elevation indexes to improve building roughness assessments. The indexes can estimate building roughness directly from fused point clouds generated by both along- and across-track modes. Finally, based on the land cover and building roughness results, we extracted 2D and 3D USPs for different land covers and used multi-classifiers to perform LCZ mapping. The results for Beijing, China, show that our method yielded satisfactory accuracy for LCZ mapping, with an overall accuracy (OA) of 90.46%. The overall accuracy of land cover classification using 3D USPs generated from both along- and across-track modes increased by 4.66%, compared to that of using the single along-track mode. Additionally, the OA value of LCZ mapping using 2D and 3D USPs (88.18%) achieved a better result than using only 2D USPs (83.83%). The use of NTL data increased the classification accuracy of LCZs E (bare rock or paved) and F (bare soil or sand) by 6.54% and 3.94%, respectively. The refined LCZ classification achieved through this study will not only contribute to more accurate regional climate modeling but also provide valuable guidance for urban planning initiatives aimed at enhancing thermal comfort and overall livability in urban areas. Purpose: Deep learning-based algorithms have been shown to be able to automatically detect and segment brain metastases (BMs) in magnetic resonance imaging, mostly based on single-institutional data sets. This work aimed to investigate the use of deep convolutional neural networks (DCNN) for BM detection and segmentation on a highly heterogeneous multi-institutional data set.Methods and Materials: A total of 407 patients from 98 institutions were randomly split into 326 patients from 78 institutions for training/validation and 81 patients from 20 institutions for unbiased testing. The data set contained T1-weighted gadolinium and T2-weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery magnetic resonance imaging acquired on diverse scanners using different pulse sequences and various acquisition parameters. Several variants of 3-dimensional U-Net based DCNN models were trained and tuned using 5-fold cross validation on the training set. Performances of different models were compared based on Dice similarity coefficient for segmentation and sensitivity and false positive rate (FPR) for detection. The best performing model was evaluated on the test set.Results: A DCNN with an input size of 64 × 64 × 64 and an equal number of 128 kernels for all convolutional layers using instance normalization was identified as the best performing model (Dice similarity coefficient 0.73, sensitivity 0.86, and FPR 1.9) in the 5-fold cross validation experiments. The best performing model demonstrated consistent behavior on the test set (Dice similarity coefficient 0.73, sensitivity 0.91, and FPR 1.7) and successfully detected 7 BMs (out of 327) that were missed during manual delineation. For large BMs with diameters greater than 12 mm, the sensitivity and FPR improved to 0.98 and 0.3, respectively.Conclusions: The DCNN model developed can automatically detect and segment brain metastases with reasonable accuracy, high sensitivity, and low FPR on a multi-institutional data set with nonprespecified and highly variable magnetic resonance imaging sequences. In this paper, an adaptive grid method for a singularly perturbed Volterra integro-differential equation is studied. Firstly, this problem is discretized by a new second-order finite difference scheme, for which a truncation error analysis is conducted. Then, based on this truncation error bound and the mesh equidistribution principle, we show that there is a mesh that provides an optimal error bound of O(N−2), which is robust with respect to the perturbation parameter. Finally, based on an approximation monitor function, an adaptive grid generation algorithm is constructed and some numerical results are given to support our theoretical results. In this paper, a 2D fluid model is built to reveal the inductively coupled Ar/O2 plasma behavior at 300 W, 30 mTorr, in the gas mixture of 95% Ar −5% O2 and 10% Ar −90% O2. The reliability of the model is first verified by comparing the calculated results with the experimental data, and the consistent results are obtained. Then, the spatial distributions of the charged species densities are investigated. As Ar fraction decreases, the maximum densities of charged particles shift toward the coil significantly, and the O2+ becomes the dominant positive ion at higher O2 fractions. The main reaction mechanisms are also discussed. It is concluded that the electrons are generated by the ionization of background gases, and the Ar+ ions are primarily formed by the ionization of Ar. However, the charge exchange processes account for the most production of O2+ and O+ ions at a high Ar fraction. The loss at the walls is the most important process to the consumption of positive ions. For the O− ions, they are first generated by the dissociative attachment of O2 at ground state, followed by the metastable state, and they are destroyed either by the ion–ion recombination with Ar+ ions or the detachment with O atoms as the Ar proportion varies. Finally, the effect of the ion–ion recombination reaction rate coefficients is discussed. The results indicate that rate coefficients of the recombination reactions have a significant influence on the positive ion densities when the Ar fractions are high. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite experimental efforts to map out the human interactome, the continued high data complexity, heterogeneity, and combined explosion limit our ability to understand the molecular roots of human disease. Computational tools provide a promising alternative when identifying biologically significant, yet unmapped associations between PIWI-interacting RNA (piRNA) and diseases. However, few predictors for large-scale prediction of potential disease-associated piRNAs have been proposed to provide effective candidates for future biomedical research now. In this study, we proposed a new computational model based on multi-source information and stacked autoencoder, called MSRDA, to predict potential piRNA–disease associations on a large scale. In particular, we introduce stacked autoencoders into the field of piRNA–disease association prediction for the first time. In the fivefold cross-validation, the MSRDA achieves the average area under the curve of 0.9184 ± 0.0015. To further evaluate the performance of MSRDA, we compared models without feature denoising and models with different types of feature representations. Moreover, the proposed method is optimal compared to related works. In conclusion, MSRDA is an effective tool that provides new impetus for uncovering the root causes of human disease. Purpose: Despite recent substantial improvement in autosegmentation using deep learning (DL) methods, labor-intensive and time-consuming slice-by-slice manual editing is often needed, particularly for complex anatomy (eg, abdominal organs). This work aimed to develop a fast, prior knowledge-guided DL semiautomatic segmentation (DL-SAS) method for complex structures on abdominal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.Methods and Materials: A novel application using contours on an adjacent slice as a prior knowledge informant in a 2-dimensional UNet DL model to guide autosegmentation for a subsequent slice was implemented for DL-SAS. A generalized, instead of organ-specific, DL-SAS model was trained and tested for abdominal organs on T2-weighted MRI scans collected from 75 patients (65 for training and 10 for testing). The DL-SAS model performance was compared with 3 common autocontouring methods (linear interpolation, rigid propagation, and a full 3-dimensional DL autosegmentation model trained with the same training data set) based on various quantitative metrics including the Dice similarity coefficient (DSC) and ratio of acceptable slices (ROA) using paired t tests.Results: For the 10 testing cases, the DL-SAS model performed best with the slice interval (SI) of 1, resulting in an average DSC of 0.93 ± 0.02, 0.92 ± 0.02, 0.91 ± 0.02, 0.88 ± 0.03, and 0.87 ± 0.02 for the large bowel, stomach, small bowel, duodenum, and pancreas, respectively. The performance decreased with increased SIs from the guidance slice. The DL-SAS method performed significantly better (P < .05) than the other 3 methods. The ROA values were in the range of 48% to 66% for all the organs with an SI of 1 for DL-SAS, higher than those for linear interpolation (31%-57% for an SI of 1) and DL auto-segmentation (16%-51%).Conclusions: The developed DL-SAS model segmented complex abdominal structures on MRI with high accuracy and efficiency and may be implemented as an interactive manual contouring tool or a contour editing tool in conjunction with a full autosegmentation process, facilitating fast and accurate segmentation for MRI-guided online adaptive radiation therapy. Panax notoginseng flowers have the highest content of saponins compared to the other parts of Panax notoginseng, but minor ginsenosides have higher pharmacological activity than the main natural ginsenosides. Therefore, this study focused on the transformation of the main ginsenosides in Panax notoginseng flowers to minor ginsenosides using the fungus of Cladosporium xylophilum isolated from soil. The main ginsenosides Rb1, Rb2, Rb3, and Rc and the notoginsenoside Fa in Panax notoginseng flowers were transformed into the ginsenosides F2 and Rd2, the notoginsenosides Fd and Fe, and the ginsenoside R7; the conversion rates were 100, 100, 100, 88.5, and 100%, respectively. The transformation products were studied by TLC, HPLC, and MS analyses, and the biotransformation pathways of the major ginsenosides were proposed. In addition, the purified enzyme of the fungus was prepared with the molecular weight of 66.4 kDa. The transformation of the monomer ginsenosides by the crude enzyme is consistent with that by the fungus. Additionally, three saponins were isolated from the transformation products and identified as the ginsenoside Rd2 and the notoginsenosides Fe and Fd by NMR and MS analyses. This study provided a unique and powerful microbial strain for efficiently transformating major ginsenosides in P. notoginseng flowers to minor ginsenosides, which will help raise the functional and economic value of the P. notoginseng flower. Purpose: This prospective phase 2 study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of hypofractionated radiation therapy (HRT) combined with concurrent weekly chemotherapy in patients with unresectable or recurrent thymic epithelial tumors (TETs).Methods and Materials: Patients with unresectable or recurrent intrathoracic TETs that could be encompassed within the radiation fields were enrolled. HRT using intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) technique was administered with 3 different levels of radiation doses (51 Gy/17 fractions (fx), 48 Gy/12 fx, and 45 Gy/9 fx; biologically effective dose of 66.3-67.5Gy), combined with weekly docetaxel (25 mg/m2) and nedaplatin (25 mg/m2). Weekly thymosin α1 (1.6 mg) was administered from the start to 2 months after radiation therapy. The objective response rate (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), health-related quality of life (QOL), and toxicity were recorded.Results: Fifty eligible patients enrolled from August 1, 2018, to July 1, 2020, were analyzed. Most patients (82.0%) had stage IVB tumors. Patients had IMRT-HRT (36-51 Gy in 9-17 fx, median biologically effective dose of 67.2 Gy) and concurrent weekly docetaxel/nedaplatin (2-4 cycles). During a median follow-up of 25.0 months (14.0-40.0), the ORR was 83.7%, the 2-year PFS was 59.1%, and the 2-year OS was 90.0%. There was 1 (2.0%) in-field recurrence while 19 (38.0%) patients developed out-of-field recurrence. Grade 3 pneumonitis was observed in 1 patient (2.0%). The ORR, 2-year PFS, 2-year OS, and toxicity were similar among 3 dose levels. Fourteen (28.0%) patients had 2 to 4 courses of radiation therapy because of recurrent diseases. Only 1 suffered from grade 1 pulmonary fibrosis during follow-up. Most patients (88%) maintained a stable QOL within 1 year after radiation therapy.Conclusions: IMRT-HRT and concurrent weekly docetaxel/nedaplatin was effective and well tolerated in unresectable or recurrent TETs. Considering the common out-of-field recurrence, this combined regimen could be an option for repeated radiation therapy. Summary: This study aimed to further clarify the influence of curdlan on the quality of frozen cooked noodles (FCN) by exploring the changes in the microstructure, rheological properties and water status of FCN during cooking. The addition of curdlan delayed the disappearance of the white core in FCN during cooking. Compared with FCN without curdlan, the microstructure of FCN with curdlan was more homogeneous, and 0.5% curdlan showed the best improvement. Furthermore, higher G′ and G′′ values and lower strain values were measured in the presence of 0.5% curdlan. Throughout the cooking process, the freezable water content significantly increased. Combined with the result of water distribution, it can be inferred that the reduction of freezable water content induced by curdlan was occurred by changing the status of water. Moreover, the result of magnetic resonance imaging indicated that the water migration rate decreased after the addition of curdlan. The results demonstrate that curdlan mitigates the degradation of FCN structure during cooking by limiting the mobility of water, which also provides new insights for improving the quality of FCN and the application of curdlan. Background: Taking ischemic and bleeding risks into consideration, insufficient data exist on dual antiplatelet therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention in elderly Chinese patients with coronary artery disease. Objective: We aimed to investigate the effectiveness and safety of ticagrelor in comparison with clopidogrel on a background of aspirin for elderly Chinese patients with coronary artery disease 12 months after percutaneous coronary intervention. Methods: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted. Selected from patients with coronary artery disease aged ≥ 75 years from January 2010 to July 2019, 908 eligible subjects receiving dual antiplatelet therapy after percutaneous coronary intervention for up to 12 months were consecutively enrolled in the study. The included patients received ticagrelor in combination with aspirin (n = 264) or clopidogrel in combination with aspirin (n = 644). Effectiveness endpoints were evaluated by the major adverse cardiovascular events, encompassing all-cause death, non-fatal myocardial infarction, and clinically driven revascularization. The safety endpoints were recorded as the incidence of Bleeding Academic Research Consortium bleeding. Results: The patients who were treated with ticagrelor were slightly younger than those who were treated with clopidogrel (79.1 ± 3.7 vs 80.7 ± 4.5 years, p < 0.01). The ticagrelor cohort contained a higher percentage of patients undergoing a prior percutaneous coronary intervention (37.9% vs 24.5%, p < 0.01), and a lower percentage of smokers (19.3% vs 27.2%, p < 0.05), compared with the clopidogrel cohort. The levels of glucose, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol in the ticagrelor group were higher while the level of triglycerides and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol were lower (p < 0.05) than those in the clopidogrel group. Left main percutaneous coronary intervention was performed more frequently among the ticagrelor-treated patients (23.5% vs 9.3%, p < 0.01), while patients in the clopidogrel group underwent more left circumflex percutaneous coronary intervention (34.3% vs 23.1%, p < 0.01). We found that ticagrelor was associated with a lower incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events than clopidogrel using the inverse probability of treatment weighting model (odds ratio, 0.493; 95% confidence interval 0.356–0.684). There was no difference in terms of the risk of Bleeding Academic Research Consortium bleeding between the two groups (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Ticagrelor was associated with a lower incidence of major adverse cardiovascular events than clopidogrel at 12 months in elderly Chinese patients with coronary artery disease, without a significant increase of Bleeding Academic Research Consortium bleeding events. Purpose. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of Shenqi fuzheng injection on leukopenia and T-cell subsets in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) undergoing radiotherapy. Methods. A total of 124 patients with advanced NSCLC treated in the oncology department of our hospital from January 2017 to January 2019 were included and assigned at a ratio of 1 : 1 to receive conventional radiotherapy (control group, n = 62) or conventional radiotherapy plus Shenqi Fuzheng injection (study group, n = 62) via the random number table method. Results. The study group showed a significantly higher objective response rate (ORR) and a lower incidence of leukopenia versus the control group (P < 0.05). After the treatment, Shenqi Fuzheng injection resulted in significantly lower levels of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and neuron-specific enolase (NSE) in the study group versus conventional treatment given to the control group. After the treatment, the control group showed significantly decreased ratios of CD3+ T cells, CD4+ T cells, and CD4+/CD8+, and an increased ratio of CD8+ T cells, and significant differences when compared with the study group. The T-cell subsets of the patients in the study group showed no significant changes than those between the treatment. The median OS was 20.0 months in the control group and 23.5 months in the study group. The differences between the two groups in terms of OS did not come up to the statistical standard. Conclusion. Shenqi Fuzheng injection for NSCLC patients undergoing radiotherapy elevates the number of white blood cells, regulates T-cell immune function, reduces tumor markers, and enhances clinical efficacy. Background To summarize modifiable factors for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) suggested by Mendelian randomization studies. Methods In this systematic review, we searched PubMed, EMBASE and MEDLINE, from inception to 15 November 2021, for Mendelian randomization studies in English. We selected studies that assessed associations of genetically predicted exposures with COVID-19-related outcomes (severity, hospitalization and susceptibility). Risk of bias of the included studies was evaluated based on the consideration of the three main assumptions for instrumental variable analyses. Results We identified 700 studies through systematic search, of which 50 Mendelian randomization studies were included. Included studies have explored a wide range of socio-demographic factors, lifestyle attributes, anthropometrics and biomarkers, predisposition to diseases and druggable targets in COVID-19 risk. Mendelian randomization studies suggested that increases in smoking, obesity and inflammatory factors were associated with higher risk of COVID-19. Predisposition to ischaemic stroke, combined bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder, chronic kidney disease and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis was potentially associated with higher COVID-19 risk. Druggable targets, such as higher protein expression of histo-blood group ABO system transferase (ABO), interleukin (IL)-6 and lower protein expression of 2′-5′ oligoadenylate synthetase 1 (OAS1) were associated with higher risk of COVID-19. There was no strong genetic evidence supporting the role of vitamin D, glycaemic traits and predisposition to cardiometabolic diseases in COVID-19 risk. Conclusion This review summarizes modifiable factors for intervention (e.g. smoking, obesity and inflammatory factors) and proteomic signatures (e.g. OAS1 and IL-6) that could help identify drugs for treating COVID-19. Simple Summary: Although β-receptor agonists are tightly controlled, there is still abuse. A general high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry detection method was developed to measure three typical β-receptor agonists; the metabolites and metabolic pathways of SAL, CLB, and RAC in rats were investigated. The results showed that the metabolites in the rats mainly existed in the form of the prototype drugs and that they still had a few metabolites. The absorption and metabolism of the different β-receptor agonists in the rats were quite different, and the absorption and metabolism of the same β-receptor agonists in different tissues were also different. This will help to modulate the receptor agonist and to study its detection and metabolism in other species. This paper developed a universal detection method by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry to detect three typical clenbuterols, CLB, SAL, and RAC, and to investigate the metabolism of β-agonists in vivo. The parent ions and daughter ions of the three β-receptor agonist standards and the residues in the muscle, liver, and blood samples of rats were obtained by Total Ions Scan mode. The metabolites produced in different tissues at a specific time were qualitatively and quantitatively analyzed, and the corresponding metabolic pathways were inferred. The results showed that the three β-receptor agonists mainly existed in the form of prototype drugs in rats, with a small amount of clenbuterol methyl compound and albuterol methyl compound. There were significant differences in residual metabolism between different tissues of the same species. Various tumorigenic theories have been proposed in the past century, which contribute to the prevention and treatment of cancer clinically. However, the underlying mechanisms of the initiation of cancer, drug resistance, neoplasm relapse, and metastasis are still challenging to be panoramically addressed. Based on the abundant evidence provided by others and us, we postulate that Tumor Initiated by Loss of Cell Identity (LOCI), which is an inevitable initiating event of tumorigenesis. As a result, normal cells are transformed into the cancerous cell. In this process, epigenetic regulatory program, especially NamiRNA (Nuclear activating miRNA)–enhancer–gene activation network, is vital for the cell identity. The disorganization of NamiRNA–enhancer–gene activation network is a causal predisposition to the cell identity loss, and the altered cell identity is stabilized by genetic variations of the NamiRNA–enhancer–gene activation network. Furthermore, the additional genetic or epigenetic abnormities confer those cells to carcinogenic characteristics, such as growth advantage over normal cells, and finally yield cancer. In this review, we literally explain our tumor imitation hypothesis based on the corresponding evidence, which will not only help to refresh our understanding of tumorigenesis but also bring benefits to developing "cell identity reversing" based therapies. Cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) have garnered significant attention for tumor imaging due to their exceptional properties. However, there remains a need for further investigation into their potential toxicity mechanisms and corresponding enhancements. Herein, CdTe QDs were observed to accumulate in mouse liver, leading to a remarkable overproduction of IL-1β and IL-6. Additionally, there was evidence of macrophage infiltration and activation following exposure to 12.5 μmol/kg body weight of QDs. To elucidate the underlying mechanism of macrophage activation, CdTe QDs functionalized with 3-mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) were utilized. In vitro experiments revealed that 1.0 μM MPA-CdTe QDs activated PINK1-dependent mitophagy in RAW264.7 macrophages. Critically, the autophagic flux remained unimpeded, as demonstrated by the absence of p62 accumulation, LC3 turnover assay results, and successful fusion of autophagosomes with lysosomes. Mechanically, QDs increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) and mitoROS by damaging both mitochondria and lysosomes. ROS, in turn, inhibited NRF2, resulting in the phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and subsequent activation of mitophagy. Notably, 1.0 μM QDs disrupted lysosomes but autophagic flux was not impaired. Eventually, the involvement of the ROS-NRF2-ERK1/2 pathway-mediated mitophagy in the increase of IL-1β and IL-6 in macrophages was confirmed using Trolox, MitoTEMPO, ML385, specific siRNAs, and lentivirus-based interventions. This study innovatively revealed the pro-inflammatory rather than anti-inflammatory role of mitophagy in nanotoxicology, shedding new light on the mechanisms of mitochondrial disorders induced by QDs and identifying several molecular targets to comprehend the toxicological mechanisms of CdTe QDs. The fate of five pesticides comprising triadimefon, imidacloprid, fenitrothion, chlorpyrifos-methyl, and chlorpyrifos in wheat flour during noodle production and accelerated storage was systematically investigated. Pesticide residues were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) after each processing step and accelerated storage. The results indicated that dough mixing reduced the concentration of five pesticide residues by 23–42%, mainly owing to the increase of moisture content. Dough resting had little effect on the residues of triadimefon, imidacloprid, and fenitrothion, but decreased chlorpyrifos-methyl and chlorpyrifos significantly by 24% and 15%, respectively. The pesticide residues increased by 3% to 69% during the drying step, attributed to the different role played by thermal evaporation or thermal degradation and concentration of the different pesticides. Boiling lowered the pesticide residues significantly by 56% to 74% in both fresh noodles and dried noodles. All the pesticide residues decreased during accelerated storage, especially for fenitrothion, chlorpyrifos-methyl, and chlorpyrifos. The processing factors (PFs) of the five pesticides in the drying step were greater than 1, while the others were all less than 1. Background: DNA N4-methylcytosine is part of the restrictive modification system, which works by regulating some biological processes, for example, the initiation of DNA replication, mismatch repair and inactivation of transposon. However, using experimental methods to detect 4mC sites is time-consuming and expensive. Besides, considering the huge differences in the number of 4mC samples among different species, it is challenging to achieve a robust multi-species 4mC site prediction performance. Hence, it is of great significance to develop effective computational tools to identify 4mC sites. Results: This work proposes a flexible deep learning-based framework to predict 4mC sites, called Hyb4mC. Hyb4mC adopts the DNA2vec method for sequence embedding, which captures more efficient and comprehensive information compared with the sequence-based feature method. Then, two different subnets are used for further analysis: Hyb_Caps and Hyb_Conv. Hyb_Caps is composed of a capsule neural network and can generalize from fewer samples. Hyb_Conv combines the attention mechanism with a text convolutional neural network for further feature learning. Background: Many long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) have key roles in different human biologic processes and are closely linked to numerous human diseases, according to cumulative evidence. Predicting potential lncRNA-disease associations can help to detect disease biomarkers and perform disease analysis and prevention. Establishing effective computational methods for lncRNA-disease association prediction is critical. Results: In this paper, we propose a novel model named MAGCNSE to predict underlying lncRNA-disease associations. We first obtain multiple feature matrices from the multi-view similarity graphs of lncRNAs and diseases utilizing graph convolutional network. Then, the weights are adaptively assigned to different feature matrices of lncRNAs and diseases using the attention mechanism. Next, the final representations of lncRNAs and diseases is acquired by further extracting features from the multi-channel feature matrices of lncRNAs and diseases using convolutional neural network. Finally, we employ a stacking ensemble classifier, consisting of multiple traditional machine learning classifiers, to make the final prediction. The results of ablation studies in both representation learning methods and classification methods demonstrate the validity of each module. Furthermore, we compare the overall performance of MAGCNSE with that of six other state-of-the-art models, the results show that it outperforms the other methods. Moreover, we verify the effectiveness of using multi-view data of lncRNAs and diseases. Case studies further reveal the outstanding ability of MAGCNSE in the identification of potential lncRNA-disease associations.
