Abstract The increased penetration of renewable energy sources and the intensification of peak‐valley differences present challenges to peak regulation in the power system. Fulfilling the peak regulation needs of the power system solely through generation‐side resources proves to be challenging. Large‐scale fixed frequency air‐conditioning (FFAC) and inverter air‐conditioning (IAC) are high‐quality flexible load resources. This paper proposes a hierarchical coordinated control strategy of air‐conditioning (AC) loads for peak regulation service. In the first layer of the control strategy, the load aggregator collaborates with multiple AC groups to ensure the completion of peak regulation tasks with specific power‐constrained requirements. In the second layer of the control strategy, the control centre of each group optimizes the temperature adjustment values for each AC load, aiming to reduce incentive costs. Finally, the proposed method is validated through simulations, demonstrating its capability to achieve coordinated control of FFAC and IAC loads under various power‐constrained requirements. Furthermore, the simulation demonstrates the effectiveness of the control strategy in reducing user discomfort and the AC's incentive costs.

Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) significantly influences mood, comfort, and potentially overall health. However, its impact on visitors’ visual experience in museum design remains insufficiently explored. This study aims to investigate the effects of different CCT settings (3000 K, 4500 K, 6000 K) on visual comfort within a simulated museum space. Using 3D modeling and physiological recordings, 200 participants assessed visual comfort. Consistent findings support that a CCT of 4500 K provides the highest comfort level, aligning with the observed trend in eye gaze duration. Pupil diameter variability indicates that greater comfort is associated with higher CCT values. While differences in heart rate variability (HRV) were not statistically significant, there is a tendency for HRV to increase with longer fixation durations. These findings challenge literature advocating for lower CCT values in museum lighting, emphasizing the need to balance conservation and visitor experience. This study provides empirical evidence supporting the optimization of visual comfort in museum lighting design through a CCT value of 4500 K, offering valuable insights for practitioners. However, limitations include potential scene disturbance and the simulated environment. Future studies should diversify samples and explore a broader range of CCT values.

Abstract The fluctuation and intermittency of wind and solar power outputs result in increased regulation pressure on thermal units in power systems. Adjustable energy‐intensive loads (such as electrolytic aluminium and steel plants) have great potential for participating in demand response (DR) programs with the goal of reducing thermal unit regulation pressure. This paper proposes an optimal scheduling method of unit commitment (UC) which gives consideration to energy‐intensive loads participating in wind and solar power consumption. The UC method adopts the nonparametric kernel density estimation method to model wind and solar power outputs and then uses the Frank‐Copula function to describe the correlation between the scenarios of wind and solar power outputs. A stochastic unit commitment (SUC) model introduces a chance‐constrained theory of a reserve coefficient to describe time‐variant scenarios on the basis of the deviation between the typical and simulative scenarios. The simulation results based on the IEEE 118‐bus system show that the energy‐intensive load in the SUC model can flexibly adjust and respond to changes in wind and solar power output, reduce the impact of the uncertainties of wind and solar power output, and promote the consumption of wind and solar power.

Abstract Background The association between uterine malformations and adverse pregnancy outcomes is well recognized. However, studies on adverse pregnancy outcomes based on one kind of anatomical commonality between different uterine anomalies have not been reported. This study aimed to investigate pregnancy outcomes in pregnancies with uterine malformations when the pregnancy is confined to a hemi-uterus. Methods A retrospective observational study of 336 women who gave birth at our hospital from 2015 to 2021 was performed. Women (n = 112) with a unicornuate, complete bicornuate, or didelphic uterus were set as the study group, and women (n = 224) with a normal uterus were set as the reference group. Maternal and neonatal outcomes were evaluated and compared between the two groups using Student’s t-test, one-way ANOVA, Chi-squared test, Yates correction for continuity, or Fisher’s exact test. Modified Poisson regression analyses were used to estimate the relationships between the hemi-uterus pregnancy and preterm birth, preterm premature rupture of membranes, and cesarean section rates by adjusting for potential confounders. Accurate short-term power load forecasting is essential to balance energy supply and demand, thus minimizing operating costs. However, power load data possesses temporal and nonlinear characteristics, and to mitigate the effects of these factors on the prediction results, we introduce the Long Short-Term Memory neural network (LSTM, Long Short-Term Memory). However, the performance of the LSTM algorithm is highly dependent on the pre-set parameters, and relying on empirically set parameters will make the model have low generalization performance and reduce the prediction effect. In this regard, a prediction model (CWOA-LSTM) combining improved whale optimization algorithm and LSTM is proposed. The whale population is initialized using Circle chaotic sequences; nonlinear time-varying factors, inertial weight balance and Corsi variance are introduced. CWOA optimized the parameters of LSTM, and the experimental results showed that the MAE, MAPE, and RMSE of CWOA-LSTM were reduced by 13.1775 MV, 0.18423%, and 17.415 MV, respectively, compared with LSTM, which verified the accuracy and stability of CWOA-LSTM model.

BackgroundInsomnia has become increasingly prevalent in modern society and is notoriously difficult to treat. Many patients exhibit a poor response to pharmacological interventions. Stellate ganglion block (SGB) has emerged as an effective method for managing insomnia; however, its efficacy may be compromised in some patients, primarily due to a variant vertebral artery anatomy.Case presentationThis case report describes a patient with severe insomnia accompanied by anxiety. Through cervical ultrasound scanning, we identified richly branched cervical arteries at the C6−C7 segment of the vertebral artery, along with anatomical variations, which could pose a heightened risk for the traditional SGB procedure. Therefore, after carefully adjusting the patient’s positioning, we proceeded with ultrasound-guided SGB using a lateral paravein out-of-plane approach. Clinical signs of successful insomnia symptoms alleviation were consistently observed after each block utilizing this alternative technique multiple times in a single patient.ConclusionOur report reveals a new lateral paravein out-of-plane approach for ultrasound-guided SGB to treat insomnia, which might be considered an alternative method. More studies should be carried out to confirm the efficacy of this new approach.

The ecosystem services approach offers a more ecologically relevant method to establish environmental conservation goals and implement ecological risk assessment (ERA). The emergence of bibliometrics has facilitated the development of new systematic review techniques. In this study, we utilised CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and SciMAT software, based on the Web of Science database, to qualitatively and quantitatively analyse the ecosystem service-based ecological risk assessment (ESRA) literature knowledge map spanning from 1994 to 2023. This article explored the field’s evolution from macro to micro perspectives, incorporating background information, current trends, and knowledge structure. The findings demonstrate that ESRA has progressed from an initial stage to a phase of global cooperation and policy applications. This transition between stages has been characterised by a shift from focusing on natural processes to understanding human impacts on ecosystems. Key themes identified include ecosystem services, landscape ERA, aquatic ERA and ecosystem health. The overall development of ERA can be observed as a progression through different periods, namely, the traditional era, regional era, and landscape era. Currently, landscape ERA methods based on changes in land use and land cover are widely employed. The study also revealed various challenges in the ESRA field, such as data availability, scale issues, and uncertainty. Future ESRA studies should consider holistic ecosystem services, interdisciplinary approaches, ecological models, and advanced technologies to address complexity. Using big data and informatisation for research offers new opportunities but requires integration and innovation. It is anticipated that ESRA holds promise for ecological sustainability and human wellbeing.

Abstract Strength training is recommended by the American Physical Therapy Association to improve muscle strength, mobility, and balance following knee replacement. Few studies have focused on the direct effects of strength training on functional ambulation, and potential dose–response relationships between strength training parameters and the effect remain unclear. The aim of this systematic review, meta-analysis, and meta-regression was to evaluate the effects of strength training on functional ambulation following knee replacement (KR). We also aimed to explore potential dose–response relationships between strength training parameters and performance in functional ambulation. A systematic literature search of eight online databases was performed on March 12, 2023, for randomized controlled trials evaluating the effects of strength training on functional ambulation by six-minute walk test (6MWT) or timed-up and go test (TUG) after KR. Data were pooled by random-effect meta-analyses and presented as weighted mean difference (WMD). A random-effect meta-regression was performed for four predetermined training parameters, namely, duration (weeks), frequency (sessions per week), volume (time per session), and initial time (after surgery) separately to explore dose–response relationships with WMD. Fourteen trials encompassing 956 participants were included in our study. Meta-analyses showed an improvement in 6MWT performance after strength training (WMD: 32.15, 95% CI 19.44–44.85) and a decrease in time to complete TUG (WMD: − 1.92, 95% CI − 3.43 to − 0.41). Meta-regression revealed a dose–response relationship only between volume and 6MWT, with a decreasing trend (P = 0.019, 95% CI − 1.63 to − 0.20). Increasing trends of improvement in 6MWT and TUG were observed with increasing training duration and frequency. A slight decreasing trend of improvement was observed in 6MWT with postponed initial time, while an opposite trend was observed in TUG. Based on existing studies, moderate-certainty evidence suggests that strength training could increase 6MWT distance, and low-certainty evidence shows that strength training could decrease the time to complete TUG after KR. Meta-regression results only suggested a dose–response relationship between volume and 6MWT with a decreasing trend. Registration: PROSPERO: CRD42022329006.

Zinc-ion hybrid capacitors (ZICs) can achieve high energy and power density, ultralong cycle life, and a wide operating voltage window, and they are widely used in wearable devices, portable electronics devices, and other energy storage fields. The design of advanced ZICs with high specific capacity and energy density remains a challenge. In this work, a novel kind of V, N dual-doped Ti3C2 film with a three-dimensional (3D) porous structure (3D V-, N-Ti3C2) based on Zn-ion pre-intercalation can be fabricated via a simple synthetic process. The stable 3D structure and heteroatom doping provide abundant ion transport channels and numerous surface active sites. The prepared 3D V-, N-Ti3C2 film can deliver unexpectedly high specific capacitance of 855 F g−1 (309 mAh g−1) and demonstrates 95.26% capacitance retention after 5000 charge/discharge cycles. In addition, the energy storage mechanism of 3D V-, N-Ti3C2 electrodes is the chemical adsorption of H+/Zn2+, which is confirmed by ex situ XRD and ex situ XPS. ZIC full cells with a competitive energy density (103 Wh kg−1) consist of a 3D V-, N-Ti3C2 cathode and a zinc foil anode. The impressive results provide a feasible strategy for developing high-performance MXene-based energy storage devices in various energy-related fields.

Three kinds of L-shaped latticed joint were designed to study the shear bearing capacity of joints prepared by welding of wooden dowels prepared with self-tapping screws. The results showed that such composite dowels in all specimens showed varying degrees of bending and splitting on the surface of the beech dowel after the shear test. The bending bearing capacity of the joint was the bending moment at the geometric center of the four composite dowels. The shear force of each composite dowel generated from the bending moment was equal with the same direction. The ultimate standard value of the theoretical loading force (F) was equal to 4.44 kN and the calculated design value (Fd) was equal to 2.96 kN. The errors between the standard and design value and test value of 3.94 kN were 11.2% and 24.9%, respectively. The theoretical value was relatively consistent with the test value. If the calculated design value was applied to estimate the ultimate bearing capacity of the joint, it was on the conservative side.

The properties of single shear specimens connected by wooden nail frictional welding and twist nails were studied. The single shear properties of the specimens connected by wooden nail welding were lower than that of the twist nail specimens. The single shear capacity of the wooden nail welding specimen was determined by calculating the method of design value of the bearing capacity of the pin connection. Furthermore, the flexural properties of the wooden nail welding laminated timber were analyzed. Due to the larger diameter of the wooden nails compared with the twist nails, the wooden nail welding laminated timber in the elastic phase had higher stiffness. The elastic modulus of the wooden nail welding laminated timber exceeded the average elastic modulus of the constituent lumber pieces by 9.46%. The number of wood lumbers in wooden nail welding laminated timber had little effect on the elastic modulus of laminated timber, but the nail spacing had a certain effect. Therefore, in future research, it is recommended to use the construction method of twist nail connection to design the wooden nail welding laminated timber. In addition, the nail spacing should refer to the GB 50005 (2003) standard and the wood structure design manual.

BackgroundFrailty and systemic inflammation are parameters, which are easy to evaluate, can be used to predict disease outcomes, and are potentially modifiable. The combination of frailty and inflammation-based data may help identify elderly cancer patients predisposed to adverse clinical outcomes. Plasmas confined in a dipole magnetic field widely exist in both space and laboratories, and this kind of plasma draws much attention from researchers both in plasma physics and in space science. In this paper, the characteristics of the collisionless electrostatic instability of the entropy mode in a dipole-magnetic-confined plasma are simulated with the linear gyrokinetic model. It is found that the entropy mode can be generated in dipole-magnetic-confined plasmas, and there are two typical stages of the entropy mode, with another transitional stage at different values of η. The main instability changes from the ion diamagnetic drift to the electronic diamagnetic drift as η becomes larger. In addition, the MHD mode predicts that the most stable point is at η~2/3 when k⊥ρi << 1. However, we find that η and k⊥ρi are coupled with each other, and the most stable point of the mode moves gradually to η~1 as k⊥ρi increases. There is a peak value for the entropy mode growth rate around k⊥ρi~1.0, and more complicated modes are induced so that the dispersion relation has been changed when the driving force of the plasma pressure gradient effect is obvious. For example, the characteristics of the interchange-like modes gradually emerge when the driving effect of the plasma pressure becomes stronger. Further investigations should be taken to reveal the characteristics of the entropy mode in magnetospheric plasmas.

BackgroundThe close association of abdominal obesity rather than general obesity with colorectal cancer (CRC) risk might be mediated by IR and inflammation, which has never been systematically explored in large-scale prospective studies.MethodsWe prospectively examined the mediation effects of the fasting triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and C-reactive protein (CRP) on the associations of obesity (general and abdominal) with CRC risk among 93,659 participants. We used the Cox proportional hazards regression models and subgroup analyses to evaluate the hazard ratios (HRs) and 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) of CRC. The CAUSALMED procedure was used to perform the mediation analyses.ResultsDuring 13.02 years of follow-up, a total of 586 CRC cases were verified. Male participants with general obesity and abdominal obesity had a 1.29-fold and a 1.28-fold increased risk of CRC. However, a significant association was only observed among female individuals with abdominal obesity. Both TyG index and CRP were associated with an elevated risk of CRC, and A significant interaction between the TyG index and CRP was found for the risk of CRC (P for interaction

Abstract Background This study was sought to report the prevalence of malnutrition in elderly patients with cancer. Validate the predictive value of the nutritional assessment tool (Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment Short Form, PG-SGA SF) for clinical outcomes and assist the therapeutic decision. Methods This is a secondary analysis of a multicentric, observational cohort study. Elderly patients with cancer older than 65 years were enrolled after the first admission. Nutritional status was identified using the PG-SGA SF. Results Of the 2724 elderly patients included in the analysis, 65.27% of patients were male (n = 1778); the mean age was 71.00 ± 5.36 years. 31.5% of patients were considered malnourished according to PG-SGA SF. In multivariate analysis, malnutrition(PG-SGA SF > 5) was significantly associated with worse OS (HR: 1.47,95%CI:1.29–1.68), affects the quality of life, and was related to more frequent nutrition impact symptoms. During a median follow-up of 4.5 years, 1176 death occurred. The mortality risk was 41.10% for malnutrition during the first 12 months and led to a rate of 323.98 events per-1000-patient-years. Abstract Background Although systemic inflammation is an important feature of the cancer cachexia, studies on the association between systemic inflammation and prognostic of cancer cachexia are limited. The objective of this study is to evaluate whether the neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) is associated with outcome and quality of life for patients with cancer cachexia and investigated any interaction between NLR and the clinical parameters. Methods This is a multicentre cohort study of 2612 cancer patients suffering from cachexia diagnosed between June 2012 and December 2019. The main parameters measured were overall survival (OS) time and all‐cause mortality. The association between NLR and all‐cause mortality was evaluated using hazard ratios (HRs) and the restricted cubic spline model with a two‐sided P‐value. Optimal stratification was used to solve threshold points. We also evaluated the cross‐classification of NLR for each variable of survival. Results Of the 2612 participants diagnosed with cancer cachexia, 1533 (58.7%) were male, and the mean (SD) age was 58.7 (11.7) years. Over a median follow‐up of 4.5 years, we observed 1189 deaths. The overall mortality rate for patients with cancer cachexia during the first 12 months was 30.2% (95%CI: 28.4%–32.0%), resulting in a rate of 226.07 events per 1000 patient‐years. An increase in NLR had an inverted L‐shaped dose–response association with all‐cause mortality. The optimal cut‐off point for NLR as a predictor of mortality in cancer patients with cachexia was 3.5. An NLR of 3.5 or greater could independently predict OS (HR, 1.51, 95%CI: 1.33–1.71). These associations were consistent across subtypes of cancer. Several potential effect modifiers were identified including gender, BMI, tumour type, KPS score and albumin in content. Increasing NLRs were independently associated with a worsening in the majority of EORTC QLQ‐C30 domains. Elevated baseline NLR was associated with low response and poor survival in patients treated with immunotherapy. Conclusions The baseline NLR status was found to be a significant negative prognostic biomarker for patients with cachexia; this effect was independent of other known prognostic factors.

Fissure field in goaf of coal mine is the main site of gas disasters and fires. To analyze the inside gas flow law, realistic goaf porosity must be obtained first. Based on the analysis of the different distribution characteristics of “horizontal three zones” and “vertical three zones” of overlying strata fissures in goaf, combined with “O” ring and rock beam theory, caved zone is analyzed and obtained with distribution of bulking factor and distribution function of subsidence of fractured zone, a three-dimensional distribution model of porosity in goaf is established. The applicability of the model is verified through actual cases, and porosity in caved zone is 0.1 to 0.43 and fractured zone is obtained. The porosity reaches the maximum value of 0.31 at a distance of 20 m to 30 m from the bottom plate. The results show that porosity in caved zone is distributed in a “hovel” shape under the influence of bulking factor. From compaction zone along x, y, and z axes to boundary, its value gradually increases from the minimum; in fractured zone, affected by the amount of subsidence in the regular moving zone and the length of the broken rock, the development of the separation layer is large in the surrounding area and small in the middle, and porosity is in a “double hump” shape, and the “bump” is 30 m to 50 m away from the coal face and coal pillar. The porosity is large, as the buried depth becomes shallower, the maximum porosity is closer to the middle in goaf, the basic stability line increases, and the shape of fissures conforms to the distribution of the “O” ring.

Abstract Background Isolated fallopian tube torsion (IFTT) is a rare cause of gynecological acute abdomen, is easily misdiagnosed and often has a delay in diagnosis. IFTT with paraovarian cysts is most frequently reported in studies. Here, we reported a patient diagnosed with IFTT associated with a paraovarian cyst, and we conducted a literature review for IFTT, aiming to identify valuable information that will be helpful for diagnosis and treatment for fallopian tube torsions. Case presentation A 13-year-old girl presented with a 10-day history of right lower abdominal pain that worsened 2 days before presentation. On presentation, ultrasound showed a 5.8 * 5.5 cm hypoechoic cyst adjacent to the right ovary, and between the cyst and ovary, a tortuous thickened tube was visualized. Laparoscopy revealed a triple torsion of the right fallopian tube with a 6-cm paraovarian cyst, and tubal conservation surgery was performed. The postoperative course was uneventful. Histopathological diagnosis revealed serous papillary cystadenoma. Conclusion Paraovarian cystic dilatation often occurs in adolescence and can induce fallopian torsion when the size of the cyst reaches 5-cm. In our review, the median age of patients diagnosed with IFTT with paraovarian cysts was 15 years old, and the main clinical manifestation was emergency abdominal pain. The associated symptoms were variable, and vomiting was the most commonly associated symptom. Salpingectomy was the most common procedure performed; however, timely surgical intervention can effectively avoid salpingectomy.

Abstract Background Cemented or uncemented total hip replacement (CTR or UTR) for femoral neck fractures (AO/OTA type 31B/C) is a relatively common procedure in elderly individuals. The recent literature is limited regarding long-term outcomes following CTR versus UTR in the Asian population. Methods Using our institutional database, we performed long-term outcome analysis on 268 patients with femoral neck fractures (AO/OTA type 31B/C) who had undergone a primary UTR or CTR (CTR: n = 132, mean age, 67.43 ± 6.51 years; UTR: n = 136, mean age, 67.65 ± 6.13 years) during 2007–2014, and these patients were followed until 2019. Follow-up occurred 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively and yearly thereafter. The primary endpoint was the Harris hip score (HHS); the secondary endpoint was the incidence of orthopaedic complications. Results The mean follow-up time was 62.5 months (range, 50.1–76.1 months). At the final follow-up, the HHS was 79.39 ± 16.92 vs 74.18 ± 17.55 (CTR vs UTR, respectively, p = 0.011). Between-group significant differences were observed regarding the incidence of prosthesis revision, prosthesis loosening, and periprosthetic fracture (7.6% [95% CI, 6.4–8.2] for CTR vs 16.9% [95% CI, 14.7–17.3] for UTR, p = 0.020; 9.8% [95% CI, 8.3–10.7] for CTR vs 19.9% [95% CI, 18.2–20.9] for UTR, p = 0.022; 5.3% [95% CI, 4.4–6.7] for CTR vs 13.2% [95% CI, 12.1–13.8] for UTR, p = 0.026, respectively). Conclusion CTR showed superiority to UTR by improving the HHS and decreasing the incidence of orthopaedic complications. Our findings need to be confirmed in a prospective, randomized controlled study to verify whether they can be applicable to a broader population.

Background: Malnutrition is common in patients with cancer and is associated with adverse outcomes, but few data exist in elderly patients. The aim of this study was to report the prevalence of malnutrition using three different scoring systems and to examine the possible clinical relationship and prognostic consequence of malnutrition in elderly patients with cancer.Methods: Nutritional status was assessed by using controlling nutritional status (CONUT), the prognostic nutritional index (PNI), and the nutritional risk index (NRI). Quality-of-life (Qol) was assessed during admission by using the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire C-30. Performance status (PS) was assessed by using the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) classification. The relationship between nutritional status and overall survival and Qol were examined.Results: Data were available for 1,494 elderly patients with cancer (63.65% male), the mean age was 70.76 years. According to the CONUT, NRI, and PNI, 55.02, 58.70, and 11.65% patients were diagnosed with malnutrition, respectively. Worse nutritional status was related to older, lower BMI, lower hand grip strength, and more advanced tumor stage. All malnutrition indexes were correlated with each other (CONUT vs. PNI, r = −0.657; CONUT vs. NRI scores, r = −0.672; PNI vs. NRI scores, r = 0.716, all P < 0.001). During a median follow-up of 43.1 months, 692 (46.32%) patients died. For patients malnourished, the incidence rate (events-per-1,000person-years) was as follows: CONUT (254.18), PNI (429.91), and NRI (261.87). Malnutrition was associated with increased risk for all-cause mortality (adjust HR [95%CI] for CONUT: 1.09 [1.05–1.13], P < 0.001; PNI: 0.98[0.97–0.99], P < 0.001; NRI: 0.98 [0.98–0.99], P < 0.001). All malnutrition indexes improved the predictive ability of the TNM classification system for all-cause mortality. Deterioration of nutritional status was associated with deterioration in Qol parameters and immunotherapeutic response (P < 0.001).Conclusions: Malnutrition was prevalent in elderly patients with cancer, regardless of the assessment tools used, and associated with lower Qol and the immunotherapy response.

Myomectomy scar pregnancy (MSP) is a rare disease, which is defined as a gestational sac located within a previous myomectomy scar. MSP is an uncommon late complication of uterine fibroids after myomectomy. We report a case where the implantation site matched the site of the previous myomectomy, and review the existing literature. A 28-year-old pregnant woman presented with vaginal bleeding. She was diagnosed with MSP by ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging, and then underwent laparotomic enucleation. The patient’s postoperative course was uneventful. Taking into account the findings in our case and the seven other reported cases of MSP, we propose that MSP can be divided into three types and that surgical enucleation of the pregnancy mass is an effective treatment.

Objective To assess the clinical outcomes of donepezil plus memantine (DM) and donepezil (DO) alone in Asian patients with a concomitant diagnosis of moderate-to-severe Alzheimer’s disease and mild-to-moderate chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AD-COPD). Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of patients with AD-COPD who received either DM or DO for 6 months, or until the occurrence of unacceptable adverse events or disease progression, between June 2012 and May 2016. The primary endpoint was the score on the Standardized Mini-Mental State Examination (SMMSE). Secondary endpoints were scores on the caregiver-rated Bristol Activities of Daily Living Scale, Neuropsychiatric Inventory, Dementia Quality of Life (DEMQOL)-Proxy, and General Health Questionnaire 12. Results In total, 154 eligible patients received DM, whereas 156 received DO. Compared with patients who received DO, patients who received DM had significantly higher mean scores on the SMMSE by 2.1 points (95% confidence interval, 1.3–2.5). Significant between-group heterogeneity was not detected in outcomes over time. The benefits of treatment with DM were greater than those of treatment with DO, in terms of the primary endpoint. Significant differences were also detected in terms of secondary endpoints. Conclusion DM is more effective than DO alone for Asian patients with AD-COPD.

This paper presents the first known vibration characteristics of moderately thick functionally graded carbon nanotube reinforced composite rectangular plates on Pasternak foundation with arbitrary boundary conditions and internal line supports on the basis of the firstorder shear deformation theory. Different distributions of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) along the thickness are considered. Uniform and other three kinds of functionally graded distributions of carbon nanotubes along the thickness direction of plates are studied. The solutions carried out using an enhanced Ritz method mainly include the following three points: Firstly, create the Lagrange energy function by the energy principle; Secondly, as the main innovation point, the modified Fourier series are chosen as the basic functions of the admissible functions of the plates to eliminate all the relevant discontinuities of the displacements and their derivatives at the edges; Lastly, solve the natural frequencies as well as the associated mode shapes by means of the Ritz-variational energy method. In this study, the influences of the volume fraction of CNTs, distribution type of CNTs, boundary restrain parameters, location of the internal line supports, foundation coefficients on the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the FG-CNT reinforced composite rectangular plates are presented.

Through-metal transfer of energy and data using piezoelectric transduce can avoid the potential leakage problem caused by physical penetrations and wired feed-through. The through-metal transfer efficiency of energy or data is determined by the relative pressure on the receiving PZT (piezoelectric transducer). Hence, in this paper, we first propose the Spatial Equivalent Plane Acoustic Pressure (SEPAP), which is defined as the integration of the acoustic pressure over the receiving area, to model the pressure on the receiving PZT. Then we analyze the features of SEPAP and the factors impacting it by utilizing COMSOL. Furthermore, we propose a low-cost and small-size prototype for simultaneous transfer of energy and bidirectional communication through metal by using two pairs of PZTs working on different resonant frequencies. Extensive experiment has been done on evaluating the match between SEPAP transfer efficiency and the power transfer efficiency and analyzing the achievable data rate for bi-directional communication. Test through a 20 mm aluminum alloy plate shows that power transmission with efficiency 20.3% and data communication rate up to 38.4 Kbps can be achieved simultaneously.

The chemical procedure of the HCl-HNO3-HF-HClO4 acids system on the electric heating plate is usually used to determine trace Ag in geochemical exploration samples using the Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (GFASS) method. Ir and Pt are usually used as the matrix modifiers. However, the thiourea serving as the medium probably leads to a large amount of precipitation with Cu, which interferes with the measurement results. Also, this dissolution method is time consuming during the analysis process and costly. In this paper it is reported that sample in water bath is dissolved by 50% aqua regia. The 50 g/L thiourea matrix modifier was added as the solution, avoiding the precipitation with Cu. The detection limit was 0.01 μg/g with good accuracy and precision. The qualified rates of internal and external examination were in agreement with the standard values. This new method simplifies the processing steps, saving time and cost, and is suitable for batch samples analyses. Furthermore, the dissolved solution of the samples was applied to determine As, Hg, Bi, Sb and other elements by the hydride generation method.

A Fourier-Ritz method for predicting the free vibration of composite laminated circular panels and shells of revolution subjected to various combinations of classical and non-classical boundary conditions is presented in this paper. A modified Fourier series approach in conjunction with a Ritz technique is employed to derive the formulation based on the first-order shear deformation theory. The general boundary condition can be achieved by the boundary spring technique in which three types of liner and two types of rotation springs along the edges of the composite laminated circular panels and shells of revolution are set to imitate the boundary force. Besides, the complete shells of revolution can be achieved by using the coupling spring technique to imitate the kinematic compatibility and physical compatibility conditions of composite laminated circular panels at the common meridian with θ = 0 and 2π. The comparisons established in a sufficiently conclusive manner show that the present formulation is capable of yielding highly accurate solutions with little computational effort. The influence of boundary and coupling restraint parameters, circumference angles, stiffness ratios, numbers of layer and fiber orientations on the vibration behavior of the composite laminated circular panels and shells of revolution are also discussed.
