Datatype-generic programming is natural and useful in dependently typed languages such as Agda. However, datatype-generic libraries in Agda are not reused as much as they should be, because traditionally they work only on datatypes decoded from a library’s own version of datatype descriptions; this means that different generic libraries cannot be used together, and they do not work on native datatypes, which are preferred by the practical Agda programmer for better language support and access to other libraries. Based on elaborator reflection, we present a framework in Agda featuring a set of general metaprograms for instantiating datatype-generic programs as, and for, a useful range of native datatypes and functions —including universe-polymorphic ones— in programmer-friendly and customisable forms. We expect that datatype-generic libraries built with our framework will be more attractive to the practical Agda programmer. As the elaborator reflection features used by our framework become more widespread, our design can be ported to other languages too.

A novel highly stable 3D luminescent uranyl coordination polymer, namely {[UO2(L)]·DMA}n (1), was assembled with uranyl salt and a glycine-derivative ligand [6-(carboxymethyl-amino)-4-oxo-4,5-dihydro-[1,3,5]triazin-2-ylamino]-acetic acid (H2L) under solvothermal reaction. Besides, It was found that complex 1 possesses excellent luminescent properties, particularly the efficient selectivity and sensitivity in the recognition of Ru3+, biomacromolecule bovine serum albumin (BSA), biological small molecules dopamine (DA), ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA) in the water solution based on a “turn-off” mechanism. Accordingly, the luminescent explorations also demonstrated that complex 1 could be acted as an efficient luminescent probe with high quenching efficiency and low detection limit for selectively detecting Ru3+ and biomolecules (DA, AA, UA and BSA). It was noted that the framework structure of complex 1 still remains highly stable after quenching, which was verified by powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD).

There are countless sources of data available to governments, companies, and citizens, which can be combined for good or evil. We analyse the concepts of combining data from common sources and linking data from different sources. We model the data and its information content to be found in a single source by a partial ordered monoid, and the transfer of information between sources by different types of morphisms. To capture the linkage between a family of sources, we use a form of Grothendieck construction to create a partial ordered monoid that brings together the global data of the family in a single structure. We apply our approach to database theory and axiomatic structures in approximate reasoning. In this study, we used a simple one-step solution-immersion process to rapidly synthesize superhydrophobic Cu coatings on galvanized iron substrates. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), and water contact angle measurements have been performed to characterize the morphological features, chemical composition and superhydrophobicity of the surfaces. The resulting surfaces provided a water contact angle as high as 164° and a sliding as low as 3°. The as prepared superhydrophobic surfaces maintained their superhydrophobicity after pressing. Furthermore, the superhydrophobic Cu coatings on galvanized iron substrates had excellent stability in terms of the contact angle with water after both heating and organic solvent treatment.

In this paper, we report a facial method for fabricating stable superhydrophobic films from expanded graphite (EG)/carbon nanotube (CNT)/polymer composites. This method possesses the advantages of being both simple and inexpensive as well as utilizing non-fluorine-containing compounds. The as-prepared EG/CNT/polymer composites exhibit a good superhydrophobicity with a high water contact angle (162°). A sliding angel of 6° for a 6 µL droplet indicates excellent non-sticking behavior. Furthermore, the superhydrophobic EG/CNT/polymer composites had excellent environmental stability with regard to both heating and organic solvent treatment in terms of the contact angle to water. Such superhydrophobic coatings have potential applications in microfluidic devices, liquid transportation, and nonwetting surfaces.

Profinite equations are an indispensable tool for the algebraic classification of formal languages. Reiterman’s theorem states that they precisely specify pseudovarieties, i.e. classes of finite algebras closed under finite products, subalgebras and quotients. In this paper Reiterman’s theorem is generalised to finite Eilenberg-Moore algebras for a monad \(\mathbf {T}\) on a variety \(\mathscr {D}\) of (ordered) algebras: a class of finite \(\mathbf {T}\)-algebras is a pseudovariety iff it is presentable by profinite (in-)equations. As an application, quasivarieties of finite algebras are shown to be presentable by profinite implications. Other examples include finite ordered algebras, finite categories, finite \(\infty \)-monoids, etc.

The Schutzenberger product of monoids is a key tool for the algebraic treatment of language concatenation. In this paper we generalize the Schutzenberger product to the level of monoids in an algebraic category $$\mathscr {D}$$, leading to a uniform view of the corresponding constructions for monoids Schutzenberger, ordered monoids Pin, idempotent semirings Klima and Polak, and algebras over a field Reutenauer. In addition, assuming that $$\mathscr {D}$$ is part of a Stone-type duality, we derive a characterization of the languages recognized by Schutzenberger products.

In this study, we fabricated a superhydrophilic and underwater superoleophobic protonated melamine sponge for effective separation of water-rich immiscible oil/water mixtures with extremely high separation efficiency. This protonated melamine sponge exhibited excellent antifouling properties and could be used to separate oil/water mixtures continuously for up to 12 h without any increase in the oil content in filtrate. Moreover, our compressed protonated melamine sponge could separate both surfactant-free and -stabilized oil-in-water emulsions with high separation efficiencies. The high performance of this protonated melamine sponge and its efficient, energy- and cost-effective preparation suggest that it has great potential for use in practical applications.
