Abstract The epidermal infiltration of neutrophils is a hallmark of psoriasis (PSO) and its activation leads to the release of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs). However, the molecular mechanism of NETs-related genes (NETRGs) has not been extensively studied in PSO. To define NETs-related-biomarkers for PSO. The GSE13355 and GSE78097 datasets, and NETRGs gene set were included in this study. The datasets used in this study were all microarray data. The weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and machine learning algorithms were used to mine key genes. Later on, single-gene gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) and immune infiltration analysis were implemented. Finally, the expression of key genes was verified using quantitative real-time fluorescence PCR (qRT-PCR). A total of 3 key genes (S100A9, CLEC7A, and CXCR4) were derived, and they all had excellent diagnostic performance. The single-gene GSEA enrichment results indicated that the key genes were mainly enriched in the chemokine signaling pathway and humoral immune response in the high-expression group, while focal adhesion was enriched in the low-expression group. The correlation analysis indicated that all key genes were strongly negatively correlated with resting mast cells and TGF-β family member receptor, while they were strongly positively correlated with activated CD4 memory T cells and antigen processing and presentation. Lastly, the experimental results showed that the expression trends of key genes were consistent with public database. In this study, we successfully screened three potential PSO diagnostic genes (S100A9, CLEC7A and CXCR4) that were closely related to NETs, and these findings not only provided new molecular marker candidates for the precise diagnosis of PSO patients, but also revealed possible future therapeutic targets. However, further in-depth research and validation were necessary.

Abstract In addressing the finite element model and actual structural error of the sprayer boom truss, this study aims to achieve high-precision dynamic characteristics, enhance simulation credibility, make informed optimization decisions, and reduce testing costs. The research investigates the dynamic behavior of the sprayer boom truss through modal experiments and finite element simulations. Initially, modal parameters of the sprayer boom are obtained through experimental testing, validating their reasonableness and reliability. Subsequently, Ansys Workbench18.0 simulation software was employed to analyze the finite element model of the sprayer boom, revealing a maximum relative error of 11.93% compared to experimental results. To improve accuracy, a kriging-based response surface model was constructed, and multi-objective parameter adjustments using the MOGA algorithm reduce the maximum relative error to 4.6%. Sensitivity analysis further refines the model by optimizing target parameters, resulting in a maximum relative error of 4.96%. These findings demonstrate the effective enhancement of the corrected finite element model’s precision, with the response surface method outperforming sensitivity analysis the maximum relative error between the updated finite element model and experimental results was within the engineering allowable range, confirming the effectiveness of the updated model.

Abstract Ni-based catalysts are highly reactive for dry reforming of methane (DRM) but they are prone to rapid deactivation due to sintering and/or coking. In this study, we present a straightforward approach for anchoring dispersed Ni sites with strengthened metal-support interactions, which leads to Ni active sites embedded in dealuminated Beta zeolite with superior stability and rates for DRM. The process involves solid-state grinding of dealuminated Beta zeolites and nickel nitrate, followed by calcination under finely controlled gas flow conditions. By combining in situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy and ab initio simulations, it is elucidated that the efficient removal of byproducts during catalyst synthesis is conducted to strengthen Ni–Si interactions that suppress coking and sintering after 100 h of time-on-stream. Transient isotopic kinetic experiments shed light on the differences in intrinsic turnover frequency of Ni species and explain performance trends. This work constructs a fundamental understanding regarding the implication of facile synthesis protocols on metal-support interaction in zeolite-supported Ni sites, and it lays the needed foundations on how these interactions can be tuned for outstanding DRM performance.

Abstract Unlocking the intricacies of protein structures and interactions within the dynamic landscape of subcellular organelles presents a significant challenge. To address this, we introduce SPACX, a method for spatially resolved protein complex profiling via biocompatible chemical cross(x)-linking with subcellular isolation, designed to monitor protein conformation, interactions, and translocation in living cells. By rapidly capturing protein complexes in their native physiological state and efficiently enriching cross-linked peptides, SPACX allows comprehensive analysis of the protein interactome within living cells. Leveraging structure refinement with cross-linking restraints, we identify subcellular-specific conformation heterogeneity of PTEN, revealing dynamic differences in its dual specificity domains between the nucleus and cytoplasm. Furthermore, by discerning conformational disparities, we identify 83 cytoplasm-exclusive and 109 nucleus-exclusive PTEN-interacting proteins, each associated with distinct biological functions. Upon induction of ubiquitin-proteasome system stress, we observe dynamic alterations in PTEN assembly and its interacting partners during translocation. These changes, including the identification of components and interaction sites, are characterized using the SPACX approach. Notably, SPACX enables identification of unique interacting proteins specific to PTEN isoforms, including PTEN and PTEN-Long, through the determination of sequence-specific cross-linking interfaces. These findings underscore the potential of SPACX to elucidate the functional diversity of proteins within distinct subcellular sociology.

Abstract Recently, various cancer types have been identified to express a distinct subset of Interferon-stimulated genes (ISGs) that mediate therapy resistance. The mechanism through which cancer cells maintain prolonged Interferon stimulation effects to coordinate resistance remains unclear. Our research demonstrated that aberrant upregulation of TAGLN2 is associated with gastric cancer progression, and inhibiting its expression renders gastric cancer cells more susceptible to chemotherapy and radiation. We uncovered a novel role for TAGLN2 in the upregulation of resistance signature ISGs by enhancing YBX1-associated ssDNA aggregation and cGAS-STING pathway activation. TAGLN2 modulates YBX1 by recruiting c-Myc and SOX9 to YBX1 promoter region and directly interacting with AKT-YBX1, thereby enhancing YBX1 phosphorylation and nuclear translocation. Significantly, targeted downregulation of key proteins, inhibition of the TAGLN2-YBX1-AKT interaction (using Fisetin or MK2206) or disruption of the cGAS-STING pathway substantially reduced ssDNA accumulation, subsequent ISGs upregulation, and therapy resistance. The combination of Cisplatin with MK2206 displayed a synergistic effect in the higher TAGLN2-expressing xenograft tumors. Clinical analysis indicated that a derived nine-gene set effectively predicts therapeutic sensitivity and long-term prognosis in gastric cancer patients. These findings suggest that TAGLN2, YBX1 and induced ISGs are novel predictive markers for clinical outcomes, and targeting this axis is an attractive therapeutic sensitization strategy.

The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of Tenebrio molitor (TM) larvae meal on the growth performance, serum biochemical parameters and caecal metabolome of broiler chickens. A total of 600 1-d-old male Liangfenghua broilers were randomly assigned to five equal groups with 5 replicates and 24 birds in each replicate. The dietary treatments were as follows: the control group (TM0 group) was fed a basal diet, and the experimental groups were fed experimental diets in which 3% (TM3 group), 5% (TM5 group), 7% (TM7 group) and 9% (TM9 group) TM larvae meal included in the basal diet, respectively. The feeding period was 70 d. The results showed that body weight (BW) and average daily gain (ADG) significantly increased (p 1.5) and the relative contents of 27 metabolites like prostaglandin F2α, glucocorticoids and prostaglandin E2 were significantly down-regulated (FC < 0.667) in the TM3 group. The main altered pathways were clustered into arachidonic acid metabolism, primary bile acid metabolism and propionic acid metabolism. In conclusion, the results indicated that supplementation of 3% TM larvae meal can improve growth performance, reduce the activity of serum AST and the content of TG, and regulation of the pathways of lipid, amino acid, and sugar metabolism in the caecum of broilers by improving nutrient digestion and absorption.

Abstract Background Postoperative radiotherapy can significantly reduce keloid recurrence. However, consensus on the optimal radiotherapy dose and treatment schedule remains elusive. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of surgery followed by a short-course of radiotherapy administered every other day for keloid treatment. Materials/Methods We conducted a retrospective analysis of 498 patients with keloids treated at our institution between January 2010 and December 2017. All patients underwent electron beam irradiation at a dose of 16 Gy, delivered in four fractions every other day, starting within 24 h post-surgery. The primary endpoint of the study was the local control rate. Results A total of 130 (26.5%) keloids recurred after a median follow-up of 68.1months (42.6-129.9 months). The local control rates at 1 year, 3 years and 5 years for all patients were 89.5%, 82.5% and 81%, respectively. The highest recurrence rate was observed in keloids located in the chest region (50.8%), followed by the suprapubic (47.8%), head and neck (38.8%), limbs (33.3%) and ear (14%). Abstract Background Alternaria alternata is the primary pathogen of potato leaf spot disease, resulting in significant potato yield losses globally. Endophytic microorganism-based biological control, especially using microorganisms from host plants, has emerged as a promising and eco-friendly approach for managing plant diseases. Therefore, this study aimed to isolate, identify and characterize the endophytic fungi from healthy potato leaves which had great antifungal activity to the potato leaf spot pathogen of A. alternata in vitro and in vivo. Results An endophytic fungal strain SD1-4 was isolated from healthy potato leaves and was identified as Talaromyces muroii through morphological and sequencing analysis. The strain SD1-4 exhibited potent antifungal activity against the potato leaf spot pathogen A. alternata Lill, with a hyphal inhibition rate of 69.19%. Microscopic and scanning electron microscope observations revealed that the strain SD1-4 grew parallel to, coiled around, shrunk and deformed the mycelia of A. alternata Lill. Additionally, the enzyme activities of chitinase and β-1, 3-glucanase significantly increased in the hyphae of A. alternata Lill when co-cultured with the strain SD1-4, indicating severe impairment of the cell wall function of A. alternata Lill. Furthermore, the mycelial growth and conidial germination of A. alternata Lill were significantly suppressed by the aseptic filtrate of the strain SD1-4, with inhibition rates of 79.00% and 80.67%, respectively. Decrease of leaf spot disease index from 78.36 to 37.03 was also observed in potato plants treated with the strain SD1-4, along with the significantly increased plant growth characters including plant height, root length, fresh weight, dry weight, chlorophyll content and photosynthetic rate of potato seedlings. Conclusion The endophyte fungus of T. muroii SD1-4 isolated from healthy potato leaves in the present study showed high biocontrol potential against potato leaf spot disease caused by A. alternata via direct parasitism or antifungal metabolites, and had positive roles in promoting potato plant growth.

Abstract. Background:. Psychological stress has been reported to be a potential risk factor for hypertension among females, but it remains unclear whether spousal chronic stress levels alter the risk of hypertension among women. We examined the associations between stress within the family and hypertension among married women. Methods:. Reproductive-aged women who were planning for pregnancy and their husbands were recruited from the National Free Pre-pregnancy Checkup Projects (NFPCP) across 31 provinces in China in 2016 and 2017. Perceived stress of wives or husbands was measured with a 5-point Likert-type scale, and assessed from three domains: work/life-related stress, economic stress, and overall stress. Multivariable-adjusted logistic regression models were used to assess the associations between stress status and the prevalence of hypertension. Results:. Abstract Long-term non-progressors (LTNPs) of HIV-1 infection may provide important insights into mechanisms involved in viral control and pathogenesis. Here, our results suggest that the ribosomal protein lateral stalk subunit P1 (RPLP1) is expressed at higher levels in LTNPs compared to regular progressors (RPs). Functionally, RPLP1 inhibits transcription of clade B HIV-1 strains by occupying the C/EBPβ binding sites in the viral long terminal repeat (LTR). This interaction requires the α-helixes 2 and 4 domains of RPLP1 and is evaded by HIV-1 group M subtype C and group N, O and P strains that do not require C/EBPβ for transcription. We further demonstrate that HIV-1-induced translocation of RPLP1 from the cytoplasm to the nucleus is essential for antiviral activity. Finally, knock-down of RPLP1 promotes reactivation of latent HIV-1 proviruses. Thus, RPLP1 may play a role in the maintenance of HIV-1 latency and resistance to RPLP1 restriction may contribute to the effective spread of clade C HIV-1 strains.

AimsTo investigate the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of children with Mycoplasma pneumoniae pneumonia (MPP) in Hubei, China.MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed inpatients with MPP from 20 hospitals in Hubei, China from January 2021 to December 2022. The co-detected pathogens of Mycoplasma pneumoniae (M. pneumoniae) were investigated using targeted next-generation sequencing (tNGS), and 23S rRNA gene mutations were analyzed to assess the macrolide resistance.ResultsM. pneumoniae infected 20.7% of patients with CAP, with cough (96.59%) and fever (80.28%) being the most prevalent symptoms. The infection rates in children younger than 1, 1–2, 3–6, 7–12, and older than 12 years were 6.17%, 19.98%, 26.97%, 43.93%, and 2.95%, respectively. Among 1,349 patients undergoing tNGS, the overall co-detection rate was 59.45%, with Streptococcus pneumoniae (29.30%), Haemophilus influenzae (23.57%), and Human rhinovirus (17.21%) being the most commonly co-detected pathogens. In 635 patients undergoing the 23S rRNA gene mutation test, 86.30% exhibited positive mutations (A2063G, 98.00%; A2064G, 1.50%; A2067G, 0.50%). Despite a significant age difference (P = 0.037) between macrolide-resistant M. pneumoniae and macrolide-sensitive M. pneumoniae groups, there were no significant differences in symptoms, lab data, or disease severity.ConclusionsIn Hubei Province, the prevalence of exhibited consistent changes during the COVID-19 pandemic. MPP was prevalent year-round, particularly in summer and autumn, with school-age children being more susceptible. Co-detections of viruses and bacteria were frequent in MPP cases, and macrolide resistance exceeded 85%. Ongoing surveillance of M. pneumoniae in children is crucial for understanding the healthcare impact of MPP.

Background: An association between increased aortic root dimensions (ARD) and elevated risk of cardiovascular mortality has been reported in the general population. However, evidence regarding the association between ARD and mortality in patients with acute heart failure (AHF) is limited. Methods: In a nationwide prospective cohort of the China Patient-Centered Evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events Prospective Heart Failure Study, ARD was measured during diastole using echocardiography and indexed to body mass index (BMI). Cox proportional hazard models were used to validate the association between BMI-indexed ARD and mortality. Additionally, the relationship between BMI-indexed ARD and mortality was presented using restricted cubic spline in all populations, and both sexes. Results: A total of 2125 participants with ARD were included in the final analysis, among of 38.4 % were women, with a median age of 67 years. Over a median follow-up period of 54.4 (interquartile range: 30.1 to 59.7) months, 895 deaths occurred, with 750 attributed to cardiovascular causes and 145 to non-cardiovascular causes. Radix Rehmanniae (RR) has three processing forms in clinical practice, including fresh Radix Rehmanniae (FRR), raw Radix Rehmanniae (RRR), and processed Radix Rehmanniae (PRR). However, the sensory criterion, “black as lacquer and sweetness as candy”, which was traditionally used to evaluate the quality of PRR, have not been fully elucidated. In this study, the mechanism of chemical transformation based on oligosaccharide hydrolysis, crosslinking coloring, and Maillard reactions was explored to clarify the observed changes in appearance and flavor. The physicochemical properties of different processed RR products were characterized. Besides, “sweetness as candy” was explained by oligosaccharides hydrolysis, and “black as lacquer” can attribute to crosslinking coloring and Maillard reactions. Importantly, this study provided the first evidence for the existence of crosslinking coloring reaction during the processing of RR. In conclusion, our results unveiled the scientific basis of the sensory attributes “black as lacquer and sweetness as candy” in PRR, offering valuable insights for enhancing quality control of PRR.

ABSTRACT: Chickens exhibit extensive genetic diversity and are distributed worldwide. Different chicken breeds have evolved to thrive in diverse environmental conditions. However, research on the genetic mechanisms underlying chicken adaptation to extreme environments, such as tropical, frigid and drought-prone regions, remains limited. In this study, we conducted whole-genome sequencing of 240 individuals from six native chicken breeds in Xinjiang, China, as well as 4 publicly available chicken breeds inhabiting regions with varying annual precipitations, temperatures, and altitudes. Our analysis revealed several genetic variants among the examined breeds. Furthermore, we investigated the genetic diversity and population structure of breeds residing in extreme drought and temperature environments by comparing them. Notably, native chicken breeds exhibited different genetic diversity and population structures. Moreover, we identified candidate genes associated with chicken adaptability to the environment, such as CORO2A, CTNNA3, AGMO, GRID2, BBOX1, COL3A1, INSR, SOX5, MAP2 and PLPPR1. Additionally, pathways such as lysosome, cysteine and methionine metabolism, glycosaminoglycan degradation, and Wnt signaling may be play crucial roles in regulating chicken adaptation to drought environments. Overall, these findings contribute to our understanding of the genetic mechanisms governing chicken adaptation to extreme environments, and also offer insights for enhancing the resilience of chicken breeds to different climatic conditions.

Abstract Over the past century, the field of antibody discovery has undergone significant evolution, excluding the current exploration stage of artificial intelligence‐based antibody generation and the often overlooked non‐animal sourced antibody discovery, which typically requires mature in vitro affinity and the selection of high‐quality antigen formulations. This journey has traversed various stages, from methods involving serum‐based antibody acquisition, the isolation of B cells capable of perpetual antibody production through hybridoma technology, to the in‐depth exploration of genetic material using the phage display system, and the current stage involving diverse single B cell screening techniques. Additionally, the emergence of machine learning has brought impressive scientific and technological breakthroughs across research domains, proving to be a powerful application in the field of antibody discovery. However, each technique comes with its limitations, such as variability and control challenges in serum‐based acquisition, lengthy and difficult hybridoma‐derived antibody development, potential limitations in sequence and epitope diversity due to immunization biases in phage display techniques, and costly single B cell screening. Protein mass spectrometry sequencing, with shorter acquisition time and lower costs, is seen as a shortcut by diagnostic companies, impacting traditional antibody development. In diagnostic antibody development, methodological differences in downstream assays and the impact of constant regions outside the Fv core are often neglected. This paper deeply analyzes challenges, proposing innovative strategies for the next generation of diagnostic antibody development. Aimed at moving closer to the gold standard of antibody discovery, these strategies enhance the competitiveness of diagnostic reagent products.

Background Poor cardiovascular‐kidney‐metabolic (CKM) health is associated with premature mortality and excess morbidity in the United States. Adverse social conditions have a prominent impact on cardiometabolic diseases during the life course. We aim to examine the association between social risk profile (SRP) and CKM multimorbidity among US adults. Methods and Results We used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 1999 to 2018. The definition of CKM syndrome is the coexistence of subclinical or clinical cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and metabolic disorders. We classified participants by 4 CKM stages according to the different clinical severity of different forms of CKM syndrome. We calculated the summed number of positive SRP measures, including employed, high‐income level, food secure, high education attainment, private insurance, owning a house, and married, as SRP scores and classified them into 4 levels by quartiles: low (0–2), lower‐middle (3–4), upper‐middle (5–6), and high (7–8). A total of 18 373 US adults, aged 20 to 79 years, were included in our analyses. There were 2567 (9.4%) participants with low SRP score level. Most individual SRP measures and a combined SRP score were associated with CKM stages. Compared with high SRP score level, low SRP level was associated with higher odds of having CKM stage 1 (odds ratio [OR], 1.34 [95% CI, 1.06–1.70]), CKM stage 2 (OR, 2.03 [95% CI, 1.59–2.58]), CKM stage 3 (OR, 5.28 [95% CI, 3.29–8.47]), and CKM stage 4 (OR, 5.97 [95% CI, 4.20–8.49]). Conclusions Cumulative social disadvantage, denoted by higher SRP burden, was associated with higher odds of CKM multimorbidity, independent of demographic and lifestyle factors.

Adjusting agronomic measures to alleviate the kernel position effect in maize is important for ensuring high yields. In order to clarify whether the combined application of organic fertilizer and chemical fertilizer (CAOFCF) can alleviate the kernel position effect of summer maize, field experiments were conducted during the 2019 and 2020 growing seasons, and five treatments were assessed: CF, 100% chemical fertilizer; OFCF1, 15% organic fertilizer+85% chemical fertilizer; OFCF2, 30% organic fertilizer+70% chemical fertilizer; OFCF3, 45% organic fertilizer+55% chemical fertilizer; and OFCF4, 60% organic fertilizer+40% chemical fertilizer. Compared with the CF treatment, the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments significantly alleviated the kernel position effect by increasing the weight ratio of inferior kernels to superior kernels and reducing the weight gap between the superior and inferior kernels. These effects were largely due to the improved filling and starch accumulation of inferior kernels. However, there were no obvious differences in the kernel position effect among plants treated with CF, OFCF3, or OFCF4 in most cases. Leaf area indexes, post-silking photosynthetic rates, and net assimilation rates were higher in plants treated with OFCF1 or OFCF2 than in those treated with CF, reflecting an enhanced photosynthetic capacity and improved post-silking dry matter accumulation (DMA) in the plants treated with OFCF1 or OFCF2. Compared with the CF treatment, the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments increased post-silking N uptake by 66.3 and 75.5%, respectively, which was the major factor driving post-silking photosynthetic capacity and DMA. Moreover, the increases in root DMA and zeatin riboside content observed following the OFCF1 and OFCF2 treatments resulted in reduced root senescence, which is associated with an increased post-silking N uptake. Analyses showed that post-silking N uptake, DMA, and grain yield in summer maize were negatively correlated with the kernel position effect. In conclusion, the combined application of 15–30% organic fertilizer and 70–85% chemical fertilizer alleviated the kernel position effect in summer maize by improving post-silking N uptake and DMA. These results provide new insights into how CAOFCF can be used to improve maize productivity.

Purposes The corneal shape and mechanical properties of cornea and contact lens material have a certain impact on the correction effect of contact lens. Methods In this paper, a finite element model of corneal wearing orthokeratology lens was established by using hyperelasticity materials, and the biomechanical response of cornea after wearing lens was analyzed by changing the shape of cornea (different curvature and thickness) and the material parameters of cornea and orthokeratology lens. Findings The results showed that when the corneal curvature changed 4 m−1, the displacement difference at apex of the cornea central area changed by 15.7 μm, and when the corneal thickness changed by 75 μm, the displacement difference at apex of the central area changed by 12.3 μm; when the corneal material parameter k1 increased by 3 times, the change of displacement difference at apex of the cornea central area was 39.2 μm, when the C10 value increased by 4 times, the change of displacement difference was 55.5 μm, while when the orthokeratology lens material parameter E increased by 3 times, the change of displacement difference was only 0.2 μm. Conclusions When using orthokeratology lens to correct myopia, it is necessary to fully consider the influence of corneal morphology and the mechanical properties of the cornea on the correction effect.

Abstract The seismic deterioration effects of anchor cables and slope structural planes are often neglected in the dynamic stability analysis of anchored rocky slopes to the extent that the stability of slopes is overestimated. In this paper, a dynamic calculation method for anchored rocky slopes considering the seismic deterioration effect is established, and a stability evaluation method for anchored rocky slopes based on the Gaussian mixture model is proposed. The seismic deterioration effect on the stability of anchored rocky slopes is quantitatively analyzed with an engineering example, and the relationship between seismic intensity and the failure probability of slopes is clarified. The results show that compared with the calculation method without considering the seismic deterioration effect, the minimum safety factor and post-earthquake safety factor obtained by the proposed method in this paper are smaller. The number of seismic deteriorations of the slope is used as the number of components of the Gaussian mixture model to construct the failure probability model of the slope, which can accurately predict the failure probability of anchored rocky slopes. The research results significantly improve the accuracy of the stability calculation of anchored rocky slopes, which can be used to guide the seismic design and safety assessment of anchored rocky slopes.

Total fecal microbiota DNA was extracted, and 16S rRNA was amplified, to analyze alterations in the gut microbiota (GM) induced by NAFLD. Subsequently, diagnostic strains for NAFLD were screened, and their functional aspects were examined. Differential metabolites and differentially expressed genes were also screened, followed by enrichment analysis. Correlations between the differential microbiota and metabolites, as well as between the DEGs and differential metabolites were studied. A collinear network involving key genes-, microbiota-and metabolites was constructed.ResultsIleibacterium and Ruminococcaceae, both belonging to Firmicutes; Olsenella, Duncaniella and Paramuribaculum from Bacteroidota; and Bifidobacterium, Coriobacteriaceae_UCG_002 and Olsenella from Actinobacteriota were identified as characteristic strains associated with NAFLD. Additionally, differentially expressed metabolites were predominantly enriched in tryptophan, linoleic acid and methylhistidine metabolism pathways. The functions of 2,510 differentially expressed genes were found to be associated with disease occurrence. Furthermore, a network comprising 8 key strains, 14 key genes and 83 key metabolites was constructed.ConclusionThrough this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of NAFLD alterations, exploring the gut microbiota, genes and metabolites of the results offer insights into the speculated biological mechanisms underlying NAFLD.

Intuition plays a crucial role in human driving decision-making, and this rapid and unconscious cognitive process is essential for improving traffic safety. We used the first proposed multi-layer network analysis method, “Joint Temporal-Frequency Multi-layer Dynamic Brain Network” (JTF-MDBN), to study the EEG data from the initial and advanced phases of driving intuition training in the theta, alpha, and beta bands. Additionally, we conducted a comparative study between these two phases using multi-layer metrics as well as local and global metrics of single layers. The results show that brain region activity is more stable in the advanced phase of intuition training compared to the initial phase. Particularly in the alart state task, the JTF-MDBN demonstrated stronger connection strength. Multi-layer network analysis indicates that modularity is significantly higher for the non-alert state task than the alert state task in the alpha and beta bands. In the W4 time window (1 second before a collision), we identified significant features that can differentiate situations where a car collision is imminent from those where no collision occurs. Single-layer network analysis also revealed statistical differences in node strength and local efficiency for some EEG channels in the alpha and beta bands during the W4 and W5 time windows. Using these biomarkers to predict vehicle collision risk, the classification accuracy of a linear kernel SVM reached up to 87.5%, demonstrating the feasibility of predicting driving collisions through brain network biomarkers. These findings are important for the study of human intuition and the development of brain-computer interface-based intelligent driving hazard perception assistance systems.

CO2-mixing by directly injecting CO2 into fresh cement-based materials is a burgeoning technology to produce low-carbon cement products. The objective of this study is to investigate the influence of the calcium carbide slag (CCS) content on the properties and carbon sequestration efficiency of cement pastes mixed under direct CO2 injection conditions. The results indicate that the addition of CCS reduced the fluidity of the cement pastes, accelerated the setting process, increased volume shrinkage, and reduced compressive strength. Following the injection of CO2 into the cement pastes, calcium hydroxide (CH) was carbonated to form calcium carbonate (CC) particles which fill the voids in the cement pastes, thereby reducing volume shrinkage and increasing compressive strength. A lower CO2 inflow rate (2 L/min) was more beneficial to the workability of the cement pastes, while a high inflow rate (6 L/min) can lead to insufficient hydration and affect the development of strength. However, a higher CO2 inflow rate was favorable for improving carbon sequestration efficiency. The highest amountof carbon sequestration can be reached at 6.93 %, when the CCS content is 10 % and the CO2 inflow rate is 6 L/min.

BackgroundThe left subclavian artery (LSA) can be intentionally covered by a stent graft to acquire adequate landing zones for a proximal entry tear near the LSA during thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). The Castor single-branched stent graft is designed to treat type B aortic dissection (TBAD) to retain the LSA during TEVAR. This study investigates clinical outcomes, aortic remodeling, and abdominal aortic perfusion patterns after TEVAR with the novel Castor device.MethodsFrom November 2020 to June 2023, 29 patients with TBAD involving the LSA were treated with the Castor single-branched stent graft. In-hospital clinical outcome and aortic computed tomography angiography (CTA) data were analyzed. CTA was performed preoperatively and at follow-up to observe stent morphology; branch patency; endoleak; change in true lumen (TL), false lumen (FL), and transaortic diameters; and abdominal aortic branch perfusion pattern.ResultsThe technical success rate was 96.6%. One failure was that the branch section did not completely enter the LSA and the main body migrated distally. No in-hospital mortality, paraplegia, or stroke occurred. During follow-up, one type Ib endoleak, four distal new entry tears, and one recurrent type A dissection arose from a new entry tear at the ascending aorta, no stent migration was observed, and the branch patency rate was 100%. At the thoracic aorta, TL diameters significantly increased, FL diameters markedly decreased, and FL was partially or completely thrombosed in most patients at follow-up. At the abdominal aorta, we observed 33.3% of TL growth and 66.7% of TL stabilization or shrinkage. The initial TL ratio at iliac bifurcation negatively predicted abdominal TL growth after TEVAR with a cutoff of 21.0%. Of the 102 abdominal aortic branches, 94.1% of the branches showed no change in perfusion pattern, 3.9% of the branches had an increased TL perfusion, and 2.0% of the branches had an increased FL contribution.ConclusionThe Castor unibody single-branched stent graft offers an efficient endovascular treatment for TBAD involving the LSA. TEVAR with the Castor device effectively induced thoracic FL thrombosis and thoracic TL enlargement and resulted in abdominal TL growth when the initial TL ratio at iliac bifurcation is less than 21.0%. Abdominal aortic branch perfusion patterns remain relatively stable after TEVAR with the Castor stent graft.

Objective: Radiotherapy for head and neck can damage the salivary gland cells, which can easily result in xerostomia. No effective treatment for radiation-induced salivary gland dysfunction currently exists. Thus, we aimed to study the protective effect of Dicliptera chinensis polysaccharides (DCP) on the prevention of submandibular gland (SMG) cell damage caused by radiotherapy in Sprague-Dawley rats. Design: Mechanical enzyme digestion was used to extract primary rat SMG cells. A radiation injury model was established by treating these cells with a dose of 8 Gy, followed by intervention using different DCP concentrations. The cell counting kit 8 assay was used to determine the inhibition rate of SMG cells in each group. The rates of apoptosis and cell cycle progression were detected using flow cytometry. Expression of the Mre11/Rad50/Nbs1 complex (MRN) was detected using western blotting. Results: DCP increased the proliferation of SMG cells after irradiation, and cell growth activity positively correlated with polysaccharide concentration. Flow cytometry analysis of SMG cell apoptosis revealed that DCP markedly reduced the total apoptosis rate after irradiation, especially the early apoptosis rate. Cell cycle results suggested that DCP reduced the number of cells in the S and G2 phases after irradiation and alleviated the S and G2 blocks. Western blot results indicated that the expression of Mre11, Rad50, and Nbs1 decreased in the radiation-injured group, whereas their expression increased after DCP treatment. Conclusions: DCP can protect the rat SMG cells after radiation and be used as a protective agent against salivary gland cell damage caused by radiotherapy.

Abstract Intracellular proteome aggregation is a ubiquitous disease hallmark with its composition associated with pathogenicity. Herein, this work reports on a cell‐permeable photosensitizer (P8, Rose Bengal derivative) for selective photo induced proximity labeling and crosslinking of cellular aggregated proteome. Rose Bengal is identified out of common photosensitizer scaffolds for its unique intrinsic binding affinity to various protein aggregates driven by the hydrophobic effect. Further acetylation permeabilizes Rose Bengal to selectively image, label, and crosslink aggregated proteome in live stressed cells. A combination of photo‐chemical, tandem mass spectrometry, and protein biochemistry characterizations reveals the complexity in photosensitizing pathways (both Type I & II), modification sites and labeling mechanisms. The diverse labeling sites and reaction types result in highly effective enrichment and identification of aggregated proteome. Finally, aggregated proteomics and interaction analyses thereby reveal extensive entangling of proteostasis network components mediated by HSP70 chaperone (HSPA1B) and active participation of autophagy pathway in combating proteasome inhibition. Overall, this work exemplifies the first photo induced proximity labeling and crosslinking method (namely AggID) to profile intracellular aggregated proteome and analyze its interactions.

BackgroundThe association between Body Mass Index (BMI), frailty index (FI), and dietary supplement in cancer survivors has been a subject of growing interest. This study investigates the relationship of BMI and FI with mortality in American cancer survivors and explores the impact of dietary supplement usage on different BMI and FI groups.MethodsThree thousand nine hundred and thirty-two cancer patients from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database were included in the analyses. BMI, FI, and supplement usage were obtained through the NHANES structured survey and the 49-item FI tool. Weighted logistic and Cox proportional hazards models, Kaplan–Meier survival analyses, and propensity score matching (PSM) were used to elucidate the relationships between BMI, FI, dietary supplement, and mortality outcomes.ResultsThe study found significant associations between higher BMI and increased frailty (Odds ratio [OR] = 1.04, 95% confidence interval [95% CI], 1.02–1.06). Bromophenols (BPs) are prominent environmental pollutants extensively utilized in aquaculture, pharmaceuticals, and chemical manufacturing. This study aims to identify UDP- glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) isoforms involved in the metabolic elimination of BPs. Mono-glucuronides of BPs were detected in human liver microsomes (HLMs) incubated with the co-factor uridine-diphosphate glucuronic acid (UDPGA). The glucuronidation metabolism reactions catalyzed by HLMs followed Michaelis-Menten or substrate inhibition kinetics. Recombinant enzymes and inhibition experiments with chemical reagents were employed to phenotype the principal UGT isoforms participating in BP glucuronidation. UGT1A6 emerged as the major enzyme in the glucuronidation of 4-Bromophenol (4-BP), while UGT1A1, UGT1A6, and UGT1A8 were identified as the most essential isoforms for metabolizing 2,4-dibromophenol (2,4-DBP). UGT1A1, UGT1A8, and UGT2B4 were deemed the most critical isoforms in the catalysis of 2,4,6-tribromophenol (2,4,6-TBP) glucuronidation. Species differences were investigated using the liver microsomes of pig (PLM), rat (RLM), monkey (MyLM), and dog (DLM). Additionally, 2,4,6-TBP effects on the expression of UGT1A1 and UGT2B7 in HepG2 cells were evaluated. The results demonstrated potential induction of UGT1A1 and UGT2B7 upon exposure to 2,4,6-TBP at a concentration of 50 μM. Collectively, these findings contribute to elucidating the metabolic elimination and toxicity of BPs.

Abstract Objection Inflammatory conditions and immune disorders may worsen the prognosis of chronic heart failure (CHF) patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of a new indicator, C-NLR, composed of C-reactive protein (CRP) and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), for the risk of all-cause mortality in HF patients with different ejection fractions. Methods A total of 1221 CHF patients admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University from January 2017 to October 2021 were enrolled in this study. All patients were divided into 2 groups according to the median C-NLR. Kaplan–Meier survival curves were used to compare the all-cause mortality among CHF patients with different ejection fractions. Cox proportional hazards analysis was used to evaluate the relationships between variables and mortality. The predictive value of the C-NLR was assessed by using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analyses. Results We collected data from 1192 patients with CHF. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis revealed that patients with low LCR levels had better overall survival (OS). After multivariate adjustment Cox proportional hazards analysis, the level of C-NLR was still independently related to mortality. Conclusions C-NLR was a competent independent predictor in HF with different ejection fractions, and routine measurement of C-NLR would help clinical doctors identify patients with a poor prognosis.

Abstract Single-atom catalysts (SACs) are particularly sensitive to external conditions, complicating the identification of catalytically active species and active sites under in situ or operando conditions. We developed a methodology for tracing the structural evolution of SACs to nanoparticles, identifying the active species and their link to the catalytic activity for the reverse water gas shift (RWGS) reaction. The new method is illustrated by studying structure-activity relationships in two materials containing Pt SACs on ceria nanodomes, supported on either ceria or titania. These materials exhibited distinctly different activities for CO production. Multimodal operando characterization attributed the enhanced activity of the titania-supported catalysts at temperatures below 320 ˚C to the formation of unique Pt sites at the ceria-titania interface capable of forming Pt nanoparticles, the active species for the RWGS reaction. Migration of Pt nanoparticles to titania support was found to be responsible for the deactivation of titania-supported catalysts at elevated temperatures. Tracking the migration of Pt atoms provides a new opportunity to investigate the activation and deactivation of Pt SACs for the RWGS reaction.

Powdery mildew (PM) is a fungus that causes disease in both the field and the greenhouse. Utilizing resistant cultivars is the most effective approach of disease management. To develop insertion-deletion (InDel) markers associated to this trait, the whole genomes of the PM resistant line M17050 (P1) and the PM-susceptible line 28-1-1 (P2) were sequenced. A total of 1 200 InDels, with an average of 100 markers per chromosome, were arbitrarily chosen from the sequencing data for experimental validation. One hundred InDel markers were ultimately selected due to their informative genetic bands. Further, an F2 segregating population of melons generated from these two parents was inoculated by the PM pathogen. Based on bulk segregant analysis (BSA) using these 100 InDel markers, the powdery mildew resistance was associated with the genomic region LVpm12.1 on the melon chromosome 12. This region overlapped the previously described quantitative trait locus (QTL)-hotspot area carrying multiple PM-resistance QTLs. Moreover, conventional QTL mapping analysis was done, which located LVpm12.1 in the region between 22.72 and 23.34 Mb, where three highly polymorphic InDel markers MInDel89, MInDel92, and MInDel93 were detected. Therefore, these markers could be used to track this resistance locus in melon while the lines carrying this locus could be employed in PM melon resistance breeding programs after validation tests.

Abstract Objective The traditional treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) has some side effects. We aimed to explore the effect of metformin treatment on the expression of HMGB1, cytokines, T cell subtypes and the clinical outcomes in RA patients. Methods The present prospective cohort study recruited 124 RA patients (metformin group) who were treated with metformin and conventional therapy (methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine sulfate and sulfasalazine) and 98 RA patients (conventional therapy group) who were only treated with conventional therapy. All subjects were admitted from December 2018 to December 2021 and continuous medication for 90 days. The serum high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Flow cytometric were used to analyze the expression of CD4+ and CD8+. Demographic and clinical statistics including age, body mass index (BMI), sex, course of disease, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), rheumatoid factor (RF), visual analogue score (VAS)and disease activity score (DAS)-28 were collected. Results The serum levels of HMGB1, CRP, IL-6, CD4+ expression and CD4+/CD8+ ratio were significantly increased in patients with DAS-28 score ≥ 2.6. The serum HMGB1 and cytokines levels of metformin group declined more quickly during the study time. Pearson’s analysis supported that a positive correlation existed between the HMGB1 and IL-6, TNF-α, CRP, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ ratio, and VAS scores. Background: Deer heart is a valuable traditional Chinese medicinal material. At present, there is no functional component or symbol component for deer heart, and it is difficult to identify them by physical and chemical methods. In this study, we established deer heart identification method based on mtDNA cytb gene, and developed a deer heart DNA detection kit. Results: There were specific amplification bands in reference medicinal materials and true deer hearts at 194 bp, but no amplification bands in negative control and blank control. Deer heart DNA detection kit has good specificity, reproducibility and stability, and its sensitivity can reach 0.5 mg. Conclusions: The application of the deer heart DNA detection kit is simple and easy to operate, and the results obtained using the kit is stable, which is suitable for popularization and application.How to cite: Wang Y, Zhang L, Ai J. Visual–Inertial SLAM (VI-SLAM) has a wide range of applications spanning robotics, autonomous driving, AR, and VR due to its low-cost and high-precision characteristics. VI-SLAM is divided into localization and mapping tasks. However, researchers focus more on the localization task while the robustness of the mapping task is often ignored. To address this, we propose a map-point convergence strategy which explicitly estimates the position, the uncertainty, and the stability of the map point (SoM). As a result, the proposed method can effectively improve the quality of the whole map while ensuring state-of-the-art localization accuracy. The convergence strategy mainly consists of a perpendicular-based triangulation and 3D Gaussian–uniform mixture filter, and we name it PGMF, perpendicular-based 3D Gaussian–uniform mixture filter. The algorithm is extensively tested on open-source datasets, which shows the RVM (Ratio of Valid Map points) of our algorithm exhibits an average increase of 0.1471 compared to VINS-mono, with a variance reduction of 68.8%.

We extend two KdVSKR models to fractional KdVSKR models with the Caputo derivative. The KdVSKR equation in (2+1)-dimension, which is a recent extension of the KdVSKR equation in (1+1)-dimension, can model the soliton resonances in shallow water. Applying the Hirota bilinear method, finite symmetry group method, and consistent Riccati expansion method, many new interaction solutions have been derived. Soliton and elliptical function interplaying solution for the fractional KdVSKR model in (1+1)-dimension has been derived for the first time. For the fractional KdVSKR model in (2+1)-dimension, two-wave interaction solutions and three-wave interaction solutions, including dark-soliton-sine interaction solution, bright-soliton-elliptic interaction solution, and lump-hyperbolic-sine interaction solution, have been derived. The effect of the order γ on the dynamical behaviors of the solutions has been illustrated by figures. The three-wave interaction solution has not been studied in the current references. The novelty of this paper is that the finite symmetry group method is adopted to construct interaction solutions of fractional nonlinear systems. This research idea can be applied to other fractional differential equations.

Background: Patients with acute heart failure (HF) are at high risk of 30-day readmission. Little is known about the characteristics and associated factors of 30-day readmissions among patients with acute HF in China. Methods: We enrolled consecutive patients hospitalized for acute HF and discharged from 52 hospitals in China from August 2016 to May 2018. We describe the rate of 30-day readmission, the time interval from discharge to readmission, and the causes of readmission. We also analyzed the factors associated with readmission risk by fitting multivariate Cox proportional hazards models. Results: We included 4875 patients with a median age of 67 years (interquartile range, 57–75), 3045 (62.5%) of whom were male. Within 30 days after discharge, 613 (12.6%) patients were readmitted for all causes, with a median from discharge to readmission of 12 (6–21) days. Most readmissions were attributed to cardiovascular causes (71.1%) and 60.0% to HF-related causes. Readmission occurred within 14 days of discharge in more than half of the patients (56.4%). Diabetes (hazard ratio [HR]: 1.25, 95% confidence interval [95% CI]: 1.06–1.50), anemia (HR: 1.26, 95% CI: 1.03–1.53), high New York Heart Association classification (HR: 1.48, 95% CI: 1.08–2.01), elevated N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (HR: 1.67, 95% CI: 1.24–2.25), and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (HR: 1.26, 95% CI: 1.01–1.58) were associated with increased risks of readmission. High systolic blood pressure (HR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.38–0.81) and Kansas City Cardiomyopathy Questionnaire-12 scores (HR: 0.64, 95% CI: 0.44–0.94) were associated with decreased risk of readmission. Conclusions: In China, almost one in eight patients with acute HF were readmitted within 30 days after discharge, mainly due to cardiovascular reasons, and approximately three-fifths of the readmissions occurred in the first 14 days. Both clinical and patient-centered characteristics were associated with readmission.

The use of a micropile group is an effective method for small and medium-sized slope management. However, there is limited research on the pile–soil interaction mechanism of micropile groups. Based on transparent soil and PIV technology, a test platform for the lateral load testing of slopes was constructed, and eight groups of transparent soil slope model experiments were performed. The changes in soil pressure and pile top displacement at the top of the piles during lateral loading were obtained. We scanned and photographed the slope, and obtained the deformation characteristics of the soil interior based on particle image velocimetry. A three-dimensional reconstruction program was developed to generate the displacement isosurface behind the pile. The impacts of various arrangement patterns and connecting beams on the deformation attributes and pile–soil interaction mechanism were explored, and the pile–soil interaction model of group piles was summarized. The results show that the front piles in a staggered arrangement bore more lateral thrust, and the distribution of soil pressure on each row of piles was more uniform. The connecting beams enhanced the overall stiffness of the pile group, reduced pile displacement, facilitated coordinated deformation of the pile group, and enhanced the anti-sliding effect of the pile–soil composite structure.

Introduction: Thromboembolism is a recognized complication of nephrotic syndrome (NS). Evidence supporting the use of rivaroxaban to prevent NS-related thrombosis is limited and controversial. This study aimed to explore the impact of NS on rivaroxaban pharmacokinetics and to collect observational data on the efficacy and safety of rivaroxaban as primary thromboprophylaxis in patients with NS. Methods: This prospective study analyzed 141 patients with NS who received rivaroxaban (10 mg/day) for thromboprophylaxis. High-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry was used to measure the trough and peak plasma concentrations (Ctrough and Cmax) of rivaroxaban. The influence of clinical and genetic factors on these concentrations was examined using multivariate logistic regression. Results: The median Cmax and Ctrough were 68.5 ng/mL (interquartile range [IQR], 31.7–105.5 ng/mL) and 4.4 ng/mL (IQR, 1.2–11.9 ng/mL), respectively. The incidence of thromboembolic events (TEs) was 12.8%, while that of bleeding events was 14.2%, although all were classified as minor. Albumin level was the most significant factor affecting Cmax (ρ = 0.55; p < 0.001) and was also significantly associated with TEs (0.81; 0.71–0.91 per 1.0 g/dL increase; p = 0.001) and bleeding risks (1.11; 1.03–1.19 per 1.0 g/dL increase; p = 0.008). Single nucleotide polymorphisms in the ABCB1 gene significantly influenced Ctrough but were not associated with clinical outcomes. Conclusion: Hypoalbuminemia significantly affects the pharmacokinetics of rivaroxaban in NS patients. A dose-adjustment strategy based on rivaroxaban concentrations, accounting for variable albumin levels, may improve the safety and efficacy of thromboprophylaxis in this population.

The Chinese central government has instituted a series of macro-economic tightening and easing policy measures on the real estate industry to stabilize the housing market in recent decades. However, our understanding of these policies and their impact on real estate firms is limited. This paper constructs an index of government policies on the real estate industry by collecting national housing policies in China from 2007 to 2019. We use this index to quantify the impact of government policies on real estate enterprises’ performance, based on data from 103 real estate enterprises listed on the Chinese A-share market. Two important conclusions are drawn from the panel data regression. First, tightened real estate policies significantly lower real estate enterprises’ profitability (ROA and ROE), while increase their liquidity risk. Second, the heterogeneity analysis shows that the tightened real estate policies yield downward impact more mildly on state-owned real estate enterprises than non-state-owned enterprises.

A case of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs)-associated myocarditis with reversible advanced atrioventricular block (AVB) was reported. We innovatively used active fixation lead connected to an external device for prolonged temporary pacing until atrioventricular conduction recovered. Invasive electrophysiology studies were performed to evaluate atrioventricular conduction in detail. Long-term follow-up for nearly 120-days and repeated long-term electrocardiography was conducted to ensure the conduction system was truly recovered.

Abstract Background The study was conducted to find out the candidate microRNA (miRNA) and genes that associated with sperm motility of Yili goose through small RNA sequencing of testicular tissue of Yili goose, and provide a theoretical basis for the study of the regulation mechanism of sperm motility of Yili goose gander. Results In this study, five male geese with high sperm motility and five male geese with low sperm motility were slaughtered to obtain their testis tissues for small RNA sequencing, and biological information methods were used for data analysis. The results showed that a total of 1575 known miRNAs and 68 novel miRNAs were identified in the testis tissue of Yili goose, and 71 differentially expressed miRNAs and 660 differentially expressed genes were screened. GO functional analysis showed that miRNAs target genes were mainly involved in the binding, kinase activity, structural constituent of cytoskeleton and intermediate filament cytoskeleton. KEGG functional analysis showed that miRNAs target genes were significantly enriched in arginine and proline metabolism, glycolysis / gluconeogenesis, fructose and mannose metabolism and beta-Alanine metabolism and other pathways. miRNAs-mRNAs interaction network suggests miR-140/miR-140-3p/miR-140-3p-NKAIN3, let-7d-BTG1 and miR-145-5p/miR -145a-5p-CLEC2E may play an important role in testis development and spermatogenesis. Conclusions The results of this study suggest that the sperm motility of Yili goose may be regulated by different miRNAs, and the target genes are significantly enriched in pathways related to sperm metabolism, indicating that miRNAs affect the sperm motility of Yili goose by regulating the metabolic process of sperm and the expression of related genes. This study can provide a reference for revealing the regulation mechanism of Yili goose sperm motility at the molecular level.

Abstract Background There are no reliable molecular targets for early diagnosis and effective treatment in the clinical management of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). To identify novel gene factors underlying the progression of DKD. Methods The public transcriptomic datasets of the alloxan-induced DKD model and the streptozotocin-induced DKD model were retrieved to perform an integrative bioinformatic analysis of differentially expressed genes (DEGs) shared by two experimental animal models. The dominant biological processes and pathways associated with DEGs were identified through enrichment analysis. The expression changes of the key DEGs were validated in the classic db/db DKD mouse model. Results The downregulated and upregulated genes in DKD models were uncovered from GSE139317 and GSE131221 microarray datasets. Enrichment analysis revealed that metabolic process, extracellular exosomes, and hydrolase activity are shared biological processes and molecular activity is altered in the DEGs. Importantly, Hmgcs2, angptl4, and Slco1a1 displayed a consistent expression pattern across the two DKD models. In the classic db/db DKD mice, Hmgcs2 and angptl4 were also found to be upregulated while Slco1a1 was downregulated in comparison to the control animals. Conclusions In summary, we identified the common biological processes and molecular activity being altered in two DKD experimental models, as well as the novel gene factors (Hmgcs2, Angptl4, and Slco1a1) which may be implicated in DKD. Future works are warranted to decipher the biological role of these genes in the pathogenesis of DKD.

The primary challenge during the secondary bonding process of full-height honeycomb sandwich structures is the aramid honeycomb core’s height shrinkage. This paper systematically investigated the height evolution behavior of the honeycomb core by using a creep testing machine. The results showed that the out-of-plane compression deformation curve of aramid honeycomb cores is mainly divided into three stages: the dehumidification stage, the pressurization stage and the creep stage. Under conditions of high temperature and pressure, height shrinkage was attributed to the dehydration caused by moisture infiltration, and the compression creep resulted from the slippage of polymer molecular chains. Dehydration shrinkage is stable, whereas compression creep reflects typical viscoelastic polymer characteristics. By employing the viscoelastic Burgers mechanical model and applying the nonlinear surface fitting method, the total height shrinkage deformation behavior of the aramid honeycomb core during the curing process can be accurately predicted by summing the above three stages. This research contributes valuable insights for the manufacturing process of honeycomb sandwich structures.

An innovative iron supplement crucial for treating iron-deficiency anemia was developed in this study. Polysaccharide was extracted from Eucommia ulmoides leaves using a microwave-assisted hot water method, and subsequently, the polysaccharide–iron complex was synthesized through co-thermal synthesis with FeCl3. The physicochemical properties, structure, and thermal stability of the complex were analyzed using FE-SEM, SEC-MALLS, FT-IR, XRD, and DSC techniques. Furthermore, the antioxidant activity of the polysaccharide–iron complex was evaluated through an experiment in vitro. The results revealed that the polysaccharide–iron complex had an iron content of 6.1% and an average particle size of 860.4 nm. The microstructure analysis indicated that the polysaccharide–iron complex possessed a flaky morphology with smooth and compact surfaces. Moreover, the formation of the Fe3+ complex did not alter the structural framework of the polysaccharide; instead, it enhanced the polysaccharide’s thermal stability. Compared to traditional iron supplements, the E. ulmoides-derived polysaccharide–iron complex demonstrated significant antioxidant activity. Therefore, this novel compound exhibits significant potential as a viable iron supplement.

Sonar serves as a critical submarine detection apparatus for naval vessels, with its detection range forming the foundation of its overall performance in underwater surveillance. The Luzon Strait, in the eastern part of the South China Sea, presents a complex hydrographic setting that profoundly influences sonar performance, necessitating mastery of the detection range variation for enhanced anti-submarine operational efficiency. This study employs the Bellhop acoustic propagation model to estimate the transmission loss. Subsequently, a detection probability integration approach is applied to determine the sonar detection range in the Luzon Strait from 2019 to 2023, which is then subjected to statistical analysis. The findings indicate the following. (1) During the summer and autumn, the shallow mixed layer fails to generate a surface duct, resulting in shorter detection ranges that are primarily dependent on the water depth. Plants are often exposed to biotic or abiotic stress, which can seriously impede their growth and development. In recent years, researchers have focused especially on the study of plant responses to biotic and abiotic stress. As one of the most widely planted grapevine rootstocks, ‘Beta’ has been extensively proven to be highly resistant to stress. However, further research is needed to understand the mechanisms of abiotic stress in ‘Beta’ rootstocks. In this study, we isolated and cloned a novel WRKY transcription factor, VhWRKY44, from the ‘Beta’ rootstock. Subcellular localization analysis revealed that VhWRKY44 was a nuclear-localized protein. Tissue-specific expression analysis indicated that VhWRKY44 had higher expression levels in grape roots and mature leaves. Further research demonstrated that the expression level of VhWRKY44 in grape roots and mature leaves was highly induced by salt and cold treatment. Compared with the control, Arabidopsis plants overexpressing VhWRKY44 showed stronger resistance to salt and cold stress. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), and catalase (CAT) were significantly increased, and the contents of proline, malondialdehyde (MDA) and chlorophyll were changed considerably. In addition, significantly higher levels of stress-related genes were detected in the transgenic lines. The results indicated that VhWRKY44 was an important transcription factor in ‘Beta’ with excellent salt and cold tolerance, providing a new foundation for abiotic stress research.
