1. Spatial distribution and regional difference of carbon emissions efficiency of industrial energy in China

Abstract: Abstract The three-stage super-efficiency slack-based measure and data envelopment analysis (SBM-DEA) model with undesirable outputs is used to calculate carbon emissions efficiency of industrial energy (CEEIE) of 30 provinces in China from 2000 to 2017. Then ArcGIS software is used to illustrate the spatial distribution of CEEIE, and Dagum Gini ratio is calculated to decompose the regional difference. The results show that the spatial distribution of CEEIE changes from disorder to order and provinces characterized with high or low CEEIE cluster in space over time. The total Dagum Gini coefficient indicates that the interprovincial difference in CEEIE across China is gradually expanding, which is mainly induced by the difference between regions. Our findings attach more importance to interregional integration policies for carbon emissions reduction in China.

Abstract: Pairs of lepton and antilepton (dilepton) in a continuous mass range are one of the most experimentally challenging and golden probes of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) produced in heavy ion collisions because they do not strongly interact with the hot and dense medium, and reflect the properties of the medium at the time the dilepton is generated. The measurements of dileptons require lepton identification with high purity and high efficiency at large detector acceptance. STAR is one of two large experiments at the relativistic heavy ion collider with a primary goal of searching for the QGP and studying its properties. The STAR experiment launched a comprehensive dielectron (e+e−) program enabled by the time-of-flight (TOF) detector that had been fully installed in 2010. In this article, we review the decade-long R&D, the construction and performance of the STAR TOF detector, and dielectron measurements, including thermal dielectron production and dielectron production from the Breit–Wheeler process. Future perspectives are also discussed.

3. Measurement and spatial–temporal analysis of coupling coordination development between green finance and environmental governance in China

Abstract: To direct financial resources for achieving the goal of sustainable development, Chinese government has devoted increasing efforts to developing green finance. However, few studies explored the relationship between green finance and environmental governance. Thus, this paper first theoretically discusses the interactive connection between green finance and environmental governance. And then we construct two comprehensive indicator systems and use entropy method to calculate green finance index (GFI) and environmental governance index (EGI) for 30 provinces of China from 2004 to 2020. The theoretical analysis unveils the complementary and mutual reinforcing relationship of the interaction between green finance and environmental governance through green industry. Using the data of GFI and EGI, the coupling coordination degree of green finance and environmental governance (CCDGE) is measured by coupling coordination model. The trend analysis discovers that GFI is increasing over time while EGI starts decreasing from 2013. Although GFI has grown more rapidly than EGI, but the development of green finance still lags behind environmental governance because of its short history. Just because of the uncoordinated development between green finance and environmental governance, CCDGE has been hovering in the moderate coupling coordination stage for a long time and still has a great distance to the high coupling coordination level. These findings imply that the relationship between green finance and environmental governance is still in a state of disorderly development that restricts each other. Furthermore, the findings of spatial-temporal analysis show there are obvious regional differences in GFI and EGI and the interactive effect between green finance and environmental governance. Specifically, GFI and EGI in eastern China are the highest, while CCDGE presents with a ladder decline status of "eastern region central region northeast region west region." Our findings provide vital references for policymakers to promote the coupling coordination development between green finance and environmental governance.

5. Energy Dependence of the Breit-Wheeler process in Heavy-Ion Collisions and its Application to Nuclear Charge Radius Measurements

Abstract: The collision energy dependence of the cross section and the transverse momentum distribution of dielectrons from the Breit-Wheeler process in heavy-ion collisions are computed in the lowest-order QED and found to be sensitive to the nuclear charge distribution and the infrared-divergence of the ultra-Lorentz boosted Coulomb field. Within a given experimental kinematic acceptance, the cross section is found to increase while the pair transverse momentum ($\sqrt{\langle p_{T}^{2} \rangle}$) decreases with increasing beam energy. We demonstrate that the transverse-momentum component of Weizsacker-Williams photons is due to the finite extent of the charge source and electric field component in the longitudinal direction. We further clarify the connection between the nuclear charge distribution and the kinematics of produced $e^+e^-$ from the Breit-Wheeler process, and propose a criterion for the validity of the Breit-Wheeler process in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. Following this approach we demonstrate that the experimental measurements of the Breit-Wheeler process in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions can be used to quantitatively constrain the nuclear charge radius. The extracted parameters show sensitivity to the impact parameter dependence, and can be used to study the initial-state and final-state effects in hadronic interactions., 3 figures

Abstract: The three-stage DEA method and super-SBM are combined to measure the urban environmental governance efficiency of 30 provinces in China from 2004 to 2016. Then, ArcGIS software is used to illustrate the spatial–temporal evolution of urban environmental governance efficiency, and DagumGiniratio is calculated to show the regional difference. The results indicate that the provinces characterized by high or low environmental governance efficiency are shown to cluster in space over time, and the spatial dependence of the environmental governance behavior of government is the greatest source of the regional difference of urban environmental governance efficiency. Our findings imply that the environmental governance behavior of government is spatial dependent, which highlights that the policies for improve environmental governance efficiency should be made globally.

8. Exploring the double-slit interference with linearly polarized photons

Abstract: The linearly polarized quasireal photons from the highly Lorentz-contracted Coulomb fields of relativistic heavy ions can fluctuate to quark-antiquark pairs, scatter off a target nucleus, and emerge as vector mesons. In the process, the two colliding nuclei can serve as slits, forming a Young’s double-slit experiment. In addition to the well-known double-slit interference pattern in position space, a similar interference pattern may be expected in polarization space due to the linear polarization of the colliding photons. In this paper, we investigate the interference effect in polarization space as revealed by the asymmetries of the decay angular distribution for vector meson photoprodution in heavy-ion collisions. We find a periodic oscillation pattern with transverse momentum, which can reasonably explain the second-order modulation in azimuth for the ρ0 decay observed by the STAR Collaboration.

Abstract: The double-slit experiment has become a classic thought experiment for its clarity in expressing the central puzzle of quantum mechanics—wave-particle complementarity. Such wave-particle duality continues to be challenged and investigated in a broad range of entities with electrons, neutrons, helium atoms, C60 fullerenes, Bose-Einstein condensates, and biological molecules. In this Rapid Communication, we present a double-slit scenario at Fermi scale with new entities—coherent photon products in heavy-ion collisions. Virtual photons from the electromagnetic fields of relativistic heavy ions can fluctuate to quark-antiquark pairs, scatter off a target nucleus, and emerge as vector mesons. The two colliding nuclei can take turns to act as targets, forming a double-slit interference pattern. Furthermore, the “which-way” information can be partially solved using sufficiently-high multiplicity heavy-ion collisions so that the reaction plane can be determined, which demonstrates the complementary principle, a key concept of quantum mechanics.

10. Photoproduction of J/ψ in non-single-diffractive p+p collisions *

Abstract: Significant enhancements of production at very low transverse momenta were recently observed by the ALICE and STAR collaborations in peripheral hadronic A+A collisions. The anomalous excess points to coherent photon-nucleus interactions in violent hadronic heavy-ion collisions, which were conventionally studied only in ultra-peripheral collisions. Assuming that the coherent photoproduction is the underlying mechanism responsible for the excess observed in peripheral A+A collisions, its contribution in p+p collisions with nuclear overlap, i.e. non-single-diffractive collisions, is of particular interest. In this paper, we perform a calculation of exclusive photoproduction in non-single-diffractive p+p collisions at the RHIC and LHC energies based on the pQCD motivated parametrization using the world-wide experimental data, which could be further employed to improve the precision of the phenomenological calculations for photoproduction in A+A collisions. The differential rapidity and transverse momentum distributions of from photoproduction are presented. In comparison with the production from hadronic interactions, we find that the contribution of photoproduction is negligible.

11. High-pT hadronic trigger using electromagnetic calorimeter with the STAR detector

Abstract: We derive a new method to improve the statistics of identified particles at high transverse momentum ( p T ) using online-triggered events by the STAR Barrel electro-magnetic-calorimeter (BEMC) detector. The BEMC is used to select charged hadrons ( π ± , K ± , and p ( p ¯ ) ) via hadronic shower energy deposited in the BEMC. With this trigger, the statistics of the high p T particles are significantly enhanced (by a factor of up to ∼ 100 for STAR) with trigger efficiency up to 20%. In addition, weak-decay V0s ( K S 0 and Λ ( Λ ¯ ) ) can be reconstructed by selecting the BEMC-trigger hadron as one of the decay daughters. We also show that the trigger efficiency can be obtained reliably in simulation and data-driven approaches, and final results from new method are compared with previous published results.

Abstract: The world experimental data on cross section and kinematic distribution in p + p and p + A collisions at √s = 6.8 – 7000 GeV are systematically examined in this work. The √s dependence of the inclusive cross section, rapidity, and transverse momentum distributions are studied phenomenologically. Also, we explore empirical formulas to obtain the total cross section, rapidity, and transverse momentum (pT) distribution. This is crucial for the interpretation of A + A J/ψ results at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider when the p + p reference data are not available. In addition, the cross section at midrapidity and transverse momentum distributions in p + p collisions at √s = 39 and 62.4 GeV are evaluated.

Detector upgrades will further probe the properties of Quark Gluon Plasma. Future measurements with upgraded detectors will be presented. The discovery perspectives from future measurements will also be discussed.

15. Improving the calibration of the STAR TPC for the high- hadron identification

Abstract: We derive a method to improve particle identification (PID) at high transverse momentum ( p T ) using the relativistic rise of the ionization energy loss ( dE / dx ) when charged particles traverse the Time Projection Chamber (TPC) at STAR. Electrons triggered and identified by the Barrel Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter (BEMC), pure protons (anti-protons) and pions from Λ ( Λ ¯ ), and K S 0 decays are used to obtain the dE / dx value and its width at given β γ = p / m . We found that the deviation of the dE / dx from the Bichsel function can be up to 0.4 σ ( ∼ 3 % ) in p + p collisions at s NN = 200 GeV taken and subsequently calibrated in year 2005. The deviation is approximately a function of β γ independent of particle species and can be described with the function f ( x ) = A + B / ( C + x 2 ) . The deviations obtained with this method are used in the data sample from p + p collision for physics analysis of identified hadron spectra and their correlations up to transverse momentum of 15 GeV/c. The ratio of e − / e + (dominantly from γ -conversion) is also used to correct for the residual momentum distortion in the STAR TPC.

Abstract: A new kind of Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chamber (MRPC) has been built for the large-area Muon Telescope Detector (MTD) for the STAR experiment at RHIC. These long read-out strip MRPCs (LMRPCs) have an active area of 87.0 x 17.0 cm2 and ten 250 um-thick gas gaps arranged as a double stack. Each read-out strip is 2.5 cm wide and 90 cm long. The signals are read-out at both ends of each strip. Cosmic ray tests indicate a time resolution of ~70 ps and a detection efficiency of greater than 95%. Abstract: New physics results with identified particles at STAR are presented. Measurements at low $p_T$ address bulk properties of the collision, while those at high $p_T$ address jet energy loss in the bulk matter produced. Between these extremes, measurements at intermediate $p_T$ address the interplay between jets and the bulk. Abstract: It has been debated for decades whether hadrons emerging from p+p collisions exhibit collective expansion. The signal of the collective motion in p+p collisions is not as clear as in heavy-ion collisions because of the low multiplicity and large fluctuation in p+p collisions. Tsallis Blast-Wave (TBW) model is a thermodynamic approach, introduced to handle the overwhelming correlation and fluctuation in the hadronic processes. We have systematically studied the identified particle spectra in p+p collisions from RHIC to LHC using TBW and found no appreciable radial flow in p+p collisions below √s = 900 GeV. At LHC higher energy of 7 TeV in p+p collisions, the radial flow velocity achieves an average of (β) = 0.320 ± 0.005. This flow velocity is comparable to that in peripheral (40-60%) Au+Au collisions at RHIC. Abstract: The measurements of the transverse momentum spectra and the invariant mass distributions of $\Delta(1232)$ $\to \pi p$, $K^{*}(892)\to \pi K$ resonances in $d$+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV using the STAR Time Projection Chamber (TPC) at RHIC are presented. The in-medium modification of the $\Delta$ and $K^{*}$ mass and width has been studied as a function of transverse momentum ($p_T$). The particle ratios $K^{*}/K$, $\Delta/p$ and the average transverse momentum ($ $) as a function of different collision centrality has been reported. The nuclear modification factors ($R_{CP}$ and $R_{dAu}$) of $\Delta$ and $K^{*}$ are discussed.

Abstract: The main features of a multi-gap resistive plate chamber (MRPC) are studied by Monte Carlo simulation with the gas avalanche model developed by Legler and Riegler et al (1961 Z. Naturforsch. 16a 253). A simple model of signal readout including FEE and noise effect is introduced in the simulation. The results of detection efficiency and time resolution are compared with those from experiments, under different working conditions. Good agreements are achieved.

Abstract: We report the STAR measurement of ϕ meson production in Au + Au and p + p collisions at s N N = 200 GeV . Using the event mixing technique, the ϕ spectra and yields are obtained at mid-rapidity for five centrality bins in Au + Au collisions and for non-singly-diffractive p + p collisions. It is found that the ϕ transverse momentum distributions from Au + Au collisions are better fitted with a single-exponential while the p + p spectrum is better described by a double-exponential distribution. The measured nuclear modification factors indicate that ϕ production in central Au + Au collisions is suppressed relative to peripheral collisions when scaled by the number of binary collisions ( 〈 N bin 〉 ) . The systematics of 〈 p t 〉 versus centrality and the constant ϕ / K − ratio versus beam species, centrality, and collision energy rule out kaon coalescence as the dominant mechanism for ϕ production.

Abstract: A tray of the STAR Time-Of-Flight detector (TOFr) based on the Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chamber technology was constructed and then operated in STAR during the RHIC 2003 spring physics run after beam-tested at AGS of BNL. The calibration procedure of the tray is introduced. The main properties of the chambers in the tray fulfill the requirements of the STAR experiment.

Abstract: We study the dynamics of charm quarks in the partonic medium and its implication to the di-electron spectra in high energy heavy ion collisions. The charm quarks traversing a thermal medium is simulated by the relativistic Langevin equation for elastic scatterings of charm quarks by thermal partons in an expanding fireball. The transport coefficients of charm quarks are calculated by the in-medium T-matrix method, where a static heavy quark potential is used with parameters fitted by the lattice QCD results. The di-electron invariant mass spectra are computed in most central collisions and are compared to the STAR data. The angular correlations of di-electrons are almost the same in $p+p$ and Au+Au collisions in the mass range $1.1, Comment: Revtex 4, 10 pages, 7 figures. Accepted version to PRC

Abstract: The world data on yields and ratios of different $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}$ states created in hadron collisions at $\sqrt{s}=19\text{--}8000$ GeV are examined in a systematic way. We derive that the ratios of $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(2S)/\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ and $\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(3S)/\ensuremath{\Upsilon}(1S)$ are $0.290\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.007(\mathrm{stat}.)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.014(\mathrm{syst}.)$ and $0.131\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005(\mathrm{stat}.)\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.003(\mathrm{syst}.)$, respectively, for $p+p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. A small energy dependence of these ratios is observed within the broad collision energies. In addition, the rapidity, transverse momentum, and transverse mass dependence of these ratios are also reported.

Abstract: Nuclear collisions recreate conditions in the universe microseconds after the Big Bang. Only a very small fraction of the emitted fragments are light nuclei, but these states are of fundamental interest. We report the observation of antihypertritons - composed of an antiproton, antineutron, and antilambda hyperon - produced by colliding gold nuclei at high energy. Our analysis yields 70 +- 17 antihypertritons and 157 +- 30 hypertritons. The measured yields of hypertriton (antihypertriton) and helium3 (antihelium3) are similar, suggesting an equilibrium in coordinate and momentum space populations of up, down, and strange quarks and antiquarks, unlike the pattern observed at lower collision energies. The production and properties of antinuclei, and nuclei containing strange quarks, have implications spanning nuclear/particle physics, astrophysics, and cosmology., 20 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: Charged-particle spectra associated with direct photon ($\gamma_{dir} $) and $\pi^0$ are measured in $p$+$p$ and Au+Au collisions at center-of-mass energy $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}}=200$ GeV with the STAR detector at RHIC. A hower-shape analysis is used to partially discriminate between $\gamma_{dir}$ and $\pi^0$. Assuming no associated charged particles in the $\gamma_{dir}$ direction (near side) and small contribution from fragmentation photons ($\gamma_{frag}$), the associated charged-particle yields opposite to $\gamma_{dir}$ (away side) are extracted. Abstract: The STAR Collaboration at RHIC presents a systematic study of high transverse momentum charged di-hadron correlations at small azimuthal pair separation \dphino, in d+Au and central Au+Au collisions at $\rts = 200$ GeV. Significant correlated yield for pairs with large longitudinal separation \deta is observed in central Au+Au, in contrast to d+Au collisions. The associated yield distribution in \detano$\times$\dphi can be decomposed into a narrow jet-like peak at small angular separation which has a similar shape to that found in d+Au collisions, and a component which is narrow in \dphi and \textcolor{black}{depends only weakly on} $\deta$, the "ridge". Using two systematically independent analyses, \textcolor{black}{finite ridge yield} is found to persist for trigger $\pt > 6$ \GeVc, indicating that it is correlated with jet production. The transverse momentum spectrum of hadrons comprising the ridge is found to be similar to that of bulk particle production in the measured range ($2 < \pt < 4 \GeVc$)., Submitted to Phys. Rev. Abstract: The longitudinal spin transfer, D(LL), from high energy polarized protons to Lambda and Lambda hyperons has been measured for the first time in proton-proton collisions at s=200 GeV with the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. The measurements cover pseudorapidity, eta, in the range |eta| >=0.5 and >=3.7 GeV/c. The dependence on eta and p(T) is presented.

Abstract: The results of midrapidity (0 < y < 0.8) neutral pion spectra over an extended transverse momentum range (1 < p(T) < 12 GeV/c) in root s(NN) = 200 GeV Au + Au collisions, measured by the STAR experiment, are presented. The neutral pions are reconstructed from photons measured either by the STAR Barrel Electro-Magnetic Calorimeter or by the Time Projection Chamber via tracking of conversion electron-positron pairs. Our measurements are compared to previously published pi(+/-) and pi(0) results. The nuclear modification factors R(CP) and R(AA) of pi(0) are also presented as a function of p(T). In the most central Au + Au collisions, the binary collision scaled pi(0) yield at high p(T) is suppressed by a factor of about 5 compared to the expectation from the yield of p + p collisions. Such a large suppression is in agreement with previous observations for light quark mesons and is consistent with the scenario that partons suffer considerable energy loss in the dense medium formed in central nucleus-nucleus collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider.

Abstract: Parity-odd domains, corresponding to non-trivial topological solutions of the QCD vacuum, might be created during relativistic heavy ion collisions. These domains are predicted to lead to charge separation of quarks along the system's orbital momentum axis. We investigate a three particle azimuthal correlator which is a \P even observable, but directly sensitive to the charge separation effect. We report measurements of charged hadrons near center-of-mass rapidity with this observable in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=200 GeV using the STAR detector. A signal consistent with several expectations from the theory is detected. We discuss possible contributions from other effects that are not related to parity violation., Comment: version as published in Physical Review Letters. Abstract: We present a systematic analysis of two-pion interferometry in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=62.4 GeV and Cu+Cu collisions at √sNN=62.4 and 200 GeV using the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The multiplicity and transverse momentum dependences of the extracted correlation lengths (radii) are studied. The scaling with charged particle multiplicity of the apparent system volume at final interaction is studied for the RHIC energy domain. The multiplicity scaling of the measured correlation radii is found to be independent of colliding system and collision energy.

36. Spectra and radial flow in relativistic heavy ion collisions with Tsallis statistics in a blast-wave description

Abstract: We have implemented the Tsallis statistics in a Blast-Wave model (TBW) and applied it to midrapidity transverse-momentum spectra of identified particles measured at BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). This new TBW function fits the RHIC data very well for ${p}_{T}l3$ GeV/$c$. We observed that the collective flow velocity starts from zero in $p+p$ and peripheral $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions and grows to $0.470\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.009c$ in central $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions. The resulting $(q\ensuremath{-}1)$ parameter, which characterizes the degree of nonequilibrium in a system, indicates an evolution from a highly nonequilibrated system in $p+p$ collisions toward an almost thermalized system in central $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions. The temperature and collective velocity are well described by a quadratic dependence on $(q\ensuremath{-}1)$. Two sets of parameters in our TBW are required to describe the meson and baryon groups separately in $p+p$ collisions while one set appears to fit all spectra in central $\mathrm{Au}+\mathrm{Au}$ collisions.

Abstract: Identified charged-particle spectra of pi(+/-), K(+/-), p, and (p) over bar at midrapidity (vertical bar y vertical bar < 0.1) measured by the dE/dx method in the STAR (solenoidal tracker at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider) time projection chamber are reported for pp and d + Au collisions at root s(NN) = 200 GeV and for Au + Au collisions at 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV. Average transverse momenta, total particle production, particle yield ratios, strangeness, and baryon production rates are investigated as a function of the collision system and centrality. The transverse momentum spectra are found to be flatter for heavy particles than for light particles in all collision systems; the effect is more prominent for more central collisions. The extracted average transverse momentum of each particle species follows a trend determined by the total charged-particle multiplicity density. The Bjorken energy density estimate is at least several GeV/fm(3) for a formation time less than 1 fm/c. A significantly larger net-baryon density and a stronger increase of the net-baryon density with centrality are found in Au + Au collisions at 62.4 GeV than at the two higher energies. Antibaryon production relative to total particle multiplicity is found to be constant over centrality, but increases with the collision energy. Strangeness production relative to total particle multiplicity is similar at the three measured RHIC energies. Relative strangeness production increases quickly with centrality in peripheral Au + Au collisions, to a value about 50% above the pp value, and remains rather constant in more central collisions. Bulk freeze-out properties are extracted from thermal equilibrium model and hydrodynamics-motivated blast-wave model fits to the data. Resonance decays are found to have little effect on the extracted kinetic freeze-out parameters because of the transverse momentum range of our measurements. The extracted chemical freeze-out temperature is constant, independent of collision system or centrality; its value is close to the predicted phase-transition temperature, suggesting that chemical freeze-out happens in the vicinity of hadronization and the chemical freeze-out temperature is universal despite the vastly different initial conditions in the collision systems. The extracted kinetic freeze-out temperature, while similar to the chemical freeze-out temperature in pp, d + Au, and peripheral Au + Au collisions, drops significantly with centrality in Au + Au collisions, whereas the extracted transverse radial flow velocity increases rapidly with centrality. There appears to be a prolonged period of particle elastic scatterings from chemical to kinetic freeze-out in central Au + Au collisions. The bulk properties extracted at chemical and kinetic freeze-out are observed to evolve smoothly over the measured energy range, collision systems, and collision centralities.

Abstract: In ultra-peripheral relativistic heavy-ion collisions, a photon from the electromagnetic field of one nucleus can fluctuate to a quark-antiquark pair and scatter from the other nucleus, emerging as a $\rho^0$. The $\rho^0$ production occurs in two well-separated (median impact parameters of 20 and 40 fermi for the cases considered here) nuclei, so the system forms a 2-source interferometer. At low transverse momenta, the two amplitudes interfere destructively, suppressing $\rho^0$ production. Since the $\rho^0$ decay before the production amplitudes from the two sources can overlap, the two-pion system can only be described with an entangled non-local wave function, and is thus an example of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen paradox. We observe this suppression in 200 GeV per nucleon-pair gold-gold collisions. The interference is $87% \pm 5% {; ; \rm (stat.)}; ; \pm 8%$ (syst.) of the expected level. This translates into a limit on decoherence due to wave function collapse or other factors, of 23% at the 90% confidence level.

Abstract: Three-particle azimuthal correlation measurements with a high transverse momentum trigger particle are reported for pp, d+Au, and Au+Au collisions at 200 GeV by the STAR experiment. Dijet structures are observed in pp, d+Au and peripheral Au+Au collisions. An additional structure is observed in central Au+Au data, signaling conical emission of correlated charged hadrons. The conical emission angle is found to be 1.37 +- 0.02(stat) +0.06-0.07(syst), independent of pt., 7 pages, 4 figures, 1 table

Abstract: We present results on the system size dependence of high transverse momentum di-hadron correlations at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 200 GeV as measured by STAR at RHIC. Measurements in d+Au, Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions reveal similar jet-like correlation yields at small angular separation ($\Delta\phi\sim0$, $\Delta\eta\sim0$) for all systems and centralities. Previous measurements have shown that the away-side yield is suppressed in heavy-ion collisions. We present measurements of the away-side suppression as a function of transverse momentum and centrality in Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions. The suppression is found to be similar in Cu+Cu and Au+Au collisions at a similar number of participants. The results are compared to theoretical calculations based on the parton quenching model and the modified fragmentation model. The observed differences between data and theory indicate that the correlated yields presented here will provide important constraints on medium density profile and energy loss model parameters., Comment: 12 pages, 5 figures

Abstract: We report precision measurements of the Feynman x (x(F)) dependence, and first measurements of the transverse momentum (p(T)) dependence, of transverse single-spin asymmetries for the production of pi(0) mesons from polarized proton collisions at s=200 GeV. The x(F) dependence of the results is in fair agreement with perturbative QCD model calculations that identify orbital motion of quarks and gluons within the proton as the origin of the spin effects. Results for the p(T) dependence at fixed x(F) are not consistent with these same perturbative QCD-based calculations.

Abstract: We present the first measurements of the {rho}(770){sup 0}, K*(892), {Delta}(1232){sup ++}, {Sigma}(1385), and {Lambda}(1520) resonances in d+Au collisions at {radical}s{sub NN} = 200 GeV, reconstructed via their hadronic decay channels using the STAR detector at RHIC. The masses and widths of these resonances are studied as a function of transverse momentum (p{sub T}). We observe that the resonance spectra follow a generalized scaling law with the transverse mass (m{sub T}). The of resonances in minimum bias collisions is compared to the of {pi}, K, and {bar p}. The {rho}{sup 0}/{pi}{sup -}, K*/K{sup -}, {Delta}{sup ++}/p, {Sigma}(1385)/{Lambda}, and {Lambda}(1520)/{Lambda} ratios in d + Au collisions are compared to the measurements in minimum bias p + p interactions, where we observe that both measurements are comparable. The nuclear modification factors (R{sub dAu}) of the {rho}{sup 0}, K*, and {Sigma}* scale with the number of binary collisions (N{sub bin}) for p{sub T} > 1.2 GeV/c.

Abstract: We report a new STAR measurement of the longitudinal double-spin asymmetry A(LL) for inclusive jet production at midrapidity in polarized p+p collisions at a center-of-mass energy of root s = 200 GeV. The data, which cover jet transverse momenta 5 < p(T) < 30 GeV/c, are substantially more precise than previous measurements. They provide significant new constraints on the gluon spin contribution to the nucleon spin through the comparison to predictions derived from one global fit to polarized deep-inelastic scattering measurements. Abstract: We present the first spin alignment measurements for the K*{sup 0}(892) and (1020) vector mesons produced at midrapidity with transverse momenta up to 5 GeV/c at {radical}s{sub NN} = 200 GeV at RHIC. The diagonal spin-density matrix elements with respect to the reaction plane in Au+Au collisions are {rho}{sub 00} = 0.32 {+-} 0.04 (stat) {+-} 0.09 (syst) for the K*{sup 0} (0.8 < p{sub T} < 5.0 GeV/c) and {rho}{sub 00} = 0.34 {+-} 0.02 (stat) {+-} 0.03 (syst) for the {phi} (0.4 < p{sub T} < 5.0 GeV/c) and are constant with transverse momentum and collision centrality. The data are consistent with the unpolarized expectation of 1/3 and thus no evidence is found for the transfer of the orbital angular momentum of the colliding system to the vector-meson spins. Spin alignments for K*{sup 0} and {phi} in Au+Au collisions were also measured with respect to the particle's production plane. The {phi} result, {rho}{sub 00} = 0.41 {+-} 0.02 (stat) {+-} 0.04 (syst), is consistent with that in p+p collisions, {rho}{sub 00} = 0.39 {+-} 0.03 (stat) {+-} 0.06 (syst), also measured in this work. Abstract: We present STAR results on the elliptic flow upsilon(2) Of charged hadrons, strange and multistrange particles from,root s(NN) = 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). The detailed study of the centrality dependence of upsilon(2) over a broad transverse momentum range is presented. Comparisons of different analysis methods are made in order to estimate systematic uncertainties. To discuss the nonflow effect, we have performed the first analysis Of upsilon(2) with the Lee-Yang zero method for K(S)(0) and A. In the relatively low PT region, P(T)

Abstract: We report on the observed differences in production rates of strange and multistrange baryons in Au+Au collisions at √sNN=200 GeV compared to p+p interactions at the same energy. The strange baryon yields in Au+Au collisions, when scaled down by the number of participating nucleons, are enhanced relative to those measured in p+p reactions. The enhancement observed increases with the strangeness content of the baryon, and it increases for all strange baryons with collision centrality. The enhancement is qualitatively similar to that observed at the lower collision energy √sNN=17.3 GeV. The previous observations are for the bulk production, while at intermediate pT,1

Abstract: We present measurements of net charge fluctuations in $Au + Au$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = $ 19.6, 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV, $Cu + Cu$ collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = $ 62.4, 200 GeV, and $p + p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} = $ 200 GeV using the dynamical net charge fluctuations measure $\nu_{+-{\rm,dyn}}$. We observe that the dynamical fluctuations are non-zero at all energies and exhibit a modest dependence on beam energy. A weak system size dependence is also observed. We examine the collision centrality dependence of the net charge fluctuations and find that dynamical net charge fluctuations violate $1/N_{ch}$ scaling, but display approximate $1/N_{part}$ scaling. We also study the azimuthal and rapidity dependence of the net charge correlation strength and observe strong dependence on the azimuthal angular range and pseudorapidity widths integrated to measure the correlation., Comment: 15 pages, 6 figures, STAR Collaboration

Abstract: We measure directed flow (v_{1}) for charged particles in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=200 and 62.4 GeV, as a function of pseudorapidity (eta), transverse momentum (p_{t}), and collision centrality, based on data from the STAR experiment. We find that the directed flow depends on the incident energy but, contrary to all available model implementations, not on the size of the colliding system at a given centrality. We extend the validity of the limiting fragmentation concept to v_{1} in different collision systems, and investigate possible explanations for the observed sign change in v_{1}(p_{t}).

Abstract: The preliminary results of π±, p and p spectra up to transverse momentum pT = 12 GeV/c are reported from 200 GeV Au+Au collisions at mid‐rapidity at STAR. The nuclear modification factor RCP, anti‐particle to particle ratios, and p/π ratio will also be discussed.

Abstract: Charged hadrons in 0.15 4 GeV/c are reconstructed in pp and Au+Au collisions at {radical}(s{sub NN})=200 GeV. The associated multiplicity and p{sub perpendicular} magnitude sum are found to increase from pp to central Au+Au collisions. The associated p{sub perpendicular} distributions, while similar in shape on the nearside, are significantly softened on the awayside in central Au+Au relative to pp and not much harder than that of inclusive hadrons. The results, consistent with jet quenching, suggest that the awayside fragments approach equilibration with the medium traversed.
