Objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of technology-based cancer survivorship care interventions according to the types of intervention and participant characteristics for adult cancer survivors; and the extent to which the types of intervention and participant characteristics moderate the observed effects. Methods: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing technology-based survivorship care interventions with control groups for posttreatment adult cancer survivors. Results: A total of 50 RCTs with 422 effect sizes suggested an overall significant treatment effect of technology-based survivorship care interventions. Survivorship care domains, comparison groups, and targeted outcomes were significant moderators influencing treatment effects. Conclusions: Our findings reinforce the value and applicability of technology-based survivorship care interventions that promote skill-building specifically. Interventions addressing multidimensional domains for survivorship care should be developed with advances in technology, which in turn influence enhancing cancer survivors' capacities to address psychosocial challenges. Background and Purpose: This study aimed to develop and examine the psychometric properties of the "Preparedness for Transition to Survivorship Care Instrument" (PTSCI) for cancer survivors. Methods: A cross-sectional study of cancer survivors in Korea was conducted to test the reliability and validity of the PTSCI. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), and concurrent validity tests were conducted. Results: The EFA showed that the 7-factor structure of a 34-item PTSCI accounted for 61.5% of the total observed variance. In CFA, three competing models were created and compared to a 7-factor solution model. A 6-factor 31-item model showed the best fit and was chosen as the final PTSCI model. PTSCI is significantly associated with quality of life, psychological distress, and health promotion. Conclusions: PTSCI can be helpful in preparing for diverse psychosocial and behavioral issues faced by cancer survivors in the survivorship phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background Korean society has witnessed a rapid increase in the number of single-person households at risk for loneliness or solitary deaths. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of safety and care services (SCS) on the psychological outcomes and housing satisfaction of Korean middle-aged and older adults living alone. Methods This study was a randomized controlled trial on residents of public rental housing. A total of 40 people underwent a 3-month intervention. For the experimental group, a caring service IoT solution was installed in participants' houses, and coordinators provided services using IoT information. The control group received only visits by coordinators. Results The experimental group showed significant positive changes in depressive symptoms. An interaction effect of time and condition was observed, indicating that the loneliness scores of the experimental group were significantly reduced, whereas those of their counterparts were negligible. Both groups showed significant decreases in suicidal thoughts. Housing satisfaction in both groups significantly increased over time, but group differences were observed. Conclusions This study demonstrated the positive effects of SCS on depressive symptoms, suicidal thoughts and housing satisfaction for people living alone, suggesting that technology can be a useful tool for helping vulnerable people. Objective: The current study examines the equivalence of a measure of family coping, the Family Crisis Oriented Personal Evaluation scales (F-COPES), in Chinese American and Korean American breast cancer survivors (BCS). Methods: Factor structure and cross-ethnicity equivalence of the F-COPES were tested using structural equation modeling with 157 Chinese American and Korean American BCS in California. Results: Of the original F-COPES subscales, acquiring social support, reframing, and passive appraisal did not adequately fit the data. Thus, a modified five-factor structure of the F-COPES was created. The modified F-COPES was validated with respect to quality of life, psychological distress, and family communication. Conclusions: The findings illustrate the importance of cross-ethnicity measurement testing and provide a rationale for developing culturally tailored measurements for ethnic minority populations.
