However, it is necessary to verify the reliability and accuracy of wearable devices through comparison with polysomnography (PSG), which is the standard for tracking sleep activity. This study aimed to monitor overall sleep activity using Fitbit Inspire 2™ (FBI2) and to evaluate its performance and effectiveness through PSG under the same conditions.Patients and Methods: We compared the FBI2 and PSG data of nine participants (four male and five female participants; average age, 39 years) without severe sleeping problems. The participants wore FBI2 continuously for 14 days, considering the period of adaptation to the device. FBI2 and PSG sleep data were compared using paired t-tests, Bland–Altman plots, and epoch-by-epoch analysis for 18 samples by pooling data from two replicates.Results: The average values for each sleep stage obtained from FBI2 and PSG showed significant differences in the total sleep time (TST), deep sleep, and rapid eye motion (REM). In the Bland–Altman analysis, TST (P = 0.02), deep sleep (P = 0.05), and REM (P = 0.03) were significantly overstated in FBI2 compared to PSG. In addition, time in bed, sleep efficiency, and wake after sleep onset were overestimated, while light sleep was underestimated. However, these differences were not statistically significant. FBI2 showed a high sensitivity (93.9%) and low specificity (13.1%), with an accuracy of 76%. The sensitivity and specificity of each sleep stage was 54.3% and 62.3%, respectively, for light sleep, 84.8% and 50.1%, respectively, for deep sleep, and 86.4% and 59.1%, respectively for REM sleep.Conclusion: The use of FBI2 as an objective tool for measuring sleep in daily life can be considered appropriate. 2. Astrophysical and Cosmological Probes of Boosted Dark Matter

Abstract

We present an in-depth study of two-component cold dark matter via extensive N-body simulations. We examine various cosmological observables including the temperature evolution, power spectrum, density perturbation, maximum circular velocity functions, and galactic density profiles. We find that a significant mass difference between the two components, coupled with the annihilation of the heavier into the lighter component, imparts warm dark matter (WDM)-like characteristics to the latter. This model benefits from the unique features of WDM, such as modifications to the matter power spectrum and density profiles, while avoiding stringent observational constraints on WDM mass. The two-component dark-matter model aligns with observational data and suggests new avenues for dark-matter detection in terrestrial experiments, particularly for light, sub-MeV DM candidates. Our findings provide a framework for understanding the small-scale structures and offer guidance for future particle physics and cosmological studies., Comment: 28 pages, 11 figures

Abstract

We explore extensive N-body simulations with two-component cold dark matter candidates. We delve into the temperature evolution, power spectrum, density perturbation, and maximum circular velocity functions. We find that the substantial mass difference between the two candidates and the annihilation of the heavier components to the lighter ones effectively endow the latter with warm dark matter-like behavior, taking advantage of all distinct features that warm dark matter candidates offer, without observational bounds on the warm dark matter mass. 4. An Improved Time Feedforward Connections Recurrent Neural Networks

Abstract

Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) have been widely applied to deal with temporal problems, such as flood forecasting and financial data processing. On the one hand, traditional RNNs models amplify the gradient issue due to the strict time serial dependency, making it difficult to realize a long-term memory function. On the other hand, RNNs cells are highly complex, which will significantly increase computational complexity and cause waste of computational resources during model training. In this paper, an improved Time Feedforward Connections Recurrent Neural Networks (TFC-RNNs) model was first proposed to address the gradient issue. A parallel branch was introduced for the hidden state at time t-2 to be directly transferred to time t without the nonlinear transformation at time t-1. This is effective in improving the long-term dependence of RNNs. Then, a novel cell structure named Single Gate Recurrent Unit (SGRU) was presented. This cell structure can reduce the number of parameters for RNNs cell, consequently reducing the computational complexity. Next, applying SGRU to TFC-RNNs as a new TFC-SGRU model solves the above two difficulties. Finally, the performance of our proposed TFC-SGRU was verified through several experiments in terms of long-term memory and anti-interference capabilities. Experimental results demonstrated that our proposed TFC-SGRU model can capture helpful information with time step 1500 and effectively filter out the noise. The TFC-SGRU model accuracy is better than the LSTM and GRU models regarding language processing ability.

Abstract

Objective : The purpose of this study is to show that there was a significant result in prescribing Herb remedy and Korean-Bee-Venom acupuncture and acupuncture & moxibustion therapy to Urinary incontinence patients due to Neurologic Bladder caused by Cauda equina syndrome after having an vertebrae lumbale operation. Methods : The methods used in this study was observe the patient's subjective improvement, valuation of the bladder function and the change of the sensibility drop when Herb remedy and Korean-Bee-Venom acupuncture and acupuncture was applied . Results : When acupuncture and Korean-Bee-Venom acupuncture was both applied the function of Bladder changed from score 10 to 0 and the Grade of Urinary Incontinence changed from Grade III to 0 also with the sensibility drop. Conclusion : The results show that when using Umnungchon(SP9), Yangnungchon (GB34), Taedon(LR1), Kokkol(CV2) there was an effect to some degree to the Urinary incontinence patients but when Korean-Bee-Venom was acupunctured to Kwanwon(CV4) and Kihae(CV6) the effect increased. Further studies and examples for evidence are required.

Abstract

Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between the risk of contamination during aseptic procedures performed by nursing students and the hairstyle type of the student performing the procedure. Methods: This study employed an observational design. The participants were 139 nursing students recruited from two colleges. Participants with short hair were assigned to the short-hair group (Group 1) without randomization. The remaining participants were randomly assigned to one of three groups: those who put their hair in a hairnet (Group 2), those who had their hair tied back (Group 3), and those who had their hair untied (Group 4). Raters used a checklist to assess participants' performance of aseptic procedures and contamination-related behaviors. Results: Compared to the group wearing a hairnet (Group 2), more contamination occurred in the group with long hair tied back (Group 3) or not tied up (Group 4) (p<.001). Hair-related contamination risk behaviors were significantly more common in students with untied long hair (Group 4) than in the other three groups (Group 1, 2, and 3) (p<.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that when performing aseptic procedures, measures are needed to prevent hair-related contamination by restraining the hair or using a hair cap. 19. A Novel Chain Formation Scheme for Balanced Energy Consumption in WSN-based IoT Network

Abstract

In the Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are one essential part. The IoT network commonly consists of WSNs, where hundreds or even thousands of small sensors are capable of sensing, processing, and sending environmental phenomena in the targeted region. The energy consumption imbalance of sensors becomes the cause of the network performance decrement, as sensor nodes have limited energy available for operation after being randomly deployed. Therefore, more research is necessary for the design of energy-efficient routing algorithms in energy-constrained WSNs. This paper focuses on the chain-based routing algorithm, which is a popular algorithm for achieving energy efficiency in WSN-based IoT network. Chain-based routing algorithms offer numerous advantages for WSNs, such as energy conservation and extended lifetime of WSNs. However, they face challenges due to the issue of internal communication imbalance. The objective of our study is to design a novel chain formation scheme that improves the energy consumption imbalance caused by internal communication in WSN-based IoT network. The proposed scheme is categorized in three phases (initial communication phase, chain formation phase, and data collection phase). In the first phase, the sink acquires their location information from sensors deployed in the sensing region. Then the sensing region is separated into sub-regions and with the number of sensor nodes is balanced employing the concept of the k-dimensional binary tree (K-D-B-tree). The sub-regions are organized into a binary tree structure, which is then formed into a chain. Lastly, data is collected along the chain, and the selected representative sensor transmits the collected data to the sink. We utilized the OMNET++ simulator and demonstrated effective simulation results in terms of network lifetime and average residual energy. Abstract

Modern sensors and devices may connect to the internet and communicate with one another, thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT), a powerful technical development. Smart cities, smart homes, and smart healthcare are just a few of the fascinating application domains that end users can access through a stage. With the help of cutting-edge technology like the Internet of Things, healthcare monitoring systems can now be significantly improved. This study examines the architecture, functionalities, and fundamental principles of IoT-based healthcare monitoring systems and applications for poorly understood diseases. In order for the present apps and systems to better serve patients, a thorough investigation has been done in this paper to determine their efficacy, value, and suitability. Numerous healthcare monitoring systems have made utilization of the IoT to organize the various remote points of contact with the cloud-based healthcare administrations. Finding, obtaining, handling, storing, and learning more about patient information are some of these administrative duties. The numerous IoT healthcare apps will contribute to the creation of advantageous and efficient arrangements by gradually integrating these systems. The survey's findings seem to support the notion that faster development of healthcare arrangements beneficial for a range of healthcare issues and scenarios is occurring as a result of IoT-based healthcare monitoring applications.

Abstract

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized using the whole plant of Duchesnea indica (DI) which was extracted in different solvents; the antimicrobial effects of the extract were investigated in this study. The extraction of DI was performed using three different solvents: water, pure ethanol (EtOH), and pure dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). AgNP formation was monitored by measuring the UV–Vis spectrum of each reaction solution. After synthesis for 48 h, the AgNPs were collected and the negative surface charge and size distribution of the synthesized AgNPs were measured using dynamic light scattering (DLS). The AgNP structure was determined by high-resolution powder X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the AgNP morphology was investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM). AgNP antibacterial activities were evaluated against Bacillus cereus, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enteritidis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa using the disc diffusion method. Additionally, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values were also determined. Biosynthesized AgNPs showed enhanced antibacterial activity against B. cereus, S. aureus, E. coli, S. enteritidis, and P. aeruginosa compared with that of pristine solvent extract. These results suggest that AgNPs synthesized from extracts of DI are promising antibacterial agents against pathogenic bacteria and can be further applied in the food industry.

Abstract

In this study, we analyzed the effect of dispersant characteristics on the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) catalyst properties and de-NOx efficiency. For this, we measured the zeta potential and pH value of each dispersant, and compared the thermal properties of the dispersant through TG-DTA analysis. Also, the Py-GC/MS analysis results and the MSDS contents of the product were used to compare the components and molecular weight types of the dispersant. As a result, the higher the zeta potential, pH, and molecular weight of the dispersant, the more improved the dispersibility of the TiO2 slurry. Characteristics such as the rheology, sedimentation, and pH change, were studied to compare the dispersibility of the catalyst slurries, and the dispersion characteristics of the TiO2 slurries were confirmed by TEM. The SCR catalysts prepared varied based on the dispersant added, with the varying factor being the de-NOx efficiency between (250 to 450) °C depending on the dispersibility. The dispersant with the excellent dispersibility gave the highest efficiency of 84% or more at 250°C and 300°C, and the highest de-NOx efficiency of more than 92% at 350°C and 400°C.
