Single‐molecule localization microscopy (SMLM) based on temporal‐focusing multiphoton excitation (TFMPE) and single‐wavelength excitation is used to visualize the three‐dimensional (3D) distribution of spontaneously blinking fluorophore‐labeled subcellular structures in a thick specimen with a nanoscale‐level spatial resolution. To eliminate the photobleaching effect of unlocalized molecules in out‐of‐focus regions for improving the utilization rate of the photon budget in 3D SMLM imaging, SMLM with single‐wavelength TFMPE achieves wide‐field and axially confined two‐photon excitation (TPE) of spontaneously blinking fluorophores. TPE spectral measurement of blinking fluorophores is then conducted through TFMPE imaging at a tunable excitation wavelength, yielding the optimal TPE wavelength for increasing the number of detected photons from a single blinking event during SMLM. Subsequently, the TPE fluorescence of blinking fluorophores is recorded to obtain a two‐dimensional TFMPE‐SMLM image of the microtubules in cancer cells with a localization precision of 18±6 nm and an overall imaging resolution of approximately 51 nm, which is estimated based on the contribution of Nyquist resolution and localization precision. Combined with astigmatic imaging, the system is capable of 3D TFMPE‐SMLM imaging of brain tissue section of a 5XFAD transgenic mouse with the pathological features of Alzheimer's disease, revealing the distribution of neurotoxic amyloid‐beta peptide deposits. Process monitoring plays a pivotal role in elucidating the intricate interplay among process, structure, and property in additive manufacturing production. The control of powder spreading affects not only particle adhesion but also rearrangement, both of which are indispensable constituents in the selective laser melting (SLM) process. To develop a novel monitoring process, this study proposed a convolutional Takagi–Sugeno–Kang fuzzy neural network (C-TSKFNN) to assess images with uneven powder distribution. The performance of the model was compared with that of conventional image analysis and state-of-the-art deep learning models. With its fusion layer and TSKFNN design, the C-TSKFNN model retains the distinctive characteristics of input images and minimizes expenditures through trainable parameters. The experimental results demonstrated that the average F1 score of the C-TSKFNN model achieved 97.07% and that it had the lowest standard deviation compared to state-of-the-art deep learning models. The trainable parameters were only 103,506, which is lower than those of models. A complete workflow was presented for estimating the concentration of microorganisms in biological samples by automatically counting spots that represent viral plaque forming units (PFU) bacterial colony forming units (CFU), or spot forming units (SFU) in images, and modeling the counts. The workflow was designed for processing images from dilution series but can also be applied to stand-alone images. The accuracy of the methods was greatly improved by adding a newly developed bias correction method. When the spots in images are densely populated, the probability of spot overlapping increases, leading to systematic undercounting. In this paper, this undercount issue was addressed in an empirical way. The proposed empirical bias correction method utilized synthetic images with known spot sizes and counts as a training set, enabling the development of an effective bias correction function using a thin-plate spline model. Its application focused on the bias correction for the automated spot counting algorithm LoST proposed by Lin et al. Recently, UVC LEDs, which emit deep ultraviolet light, have found extensive applications across various fields. This study demonstrates the design and implementation of thin films of three-dimensional photonic crystals (3D PhCs) as reflectors to enhance the light output power (LOP) of UVC LEDs. The 3D PhC reflectors were prepared using the self-assembly of silica nanospheres on a UVC LED lead frame substrate via the evaporation-induced method (side) and the gravitational sedimentation method (bottom), respectively. These PhCs with the (111) crystallographic plane were deposited on the side wall and bottom of the UVC LED lead frame, acting as functional materials to reflect UVC light. The LOP of UVC LEDs with 3D PhC reflectors at a driving current of 100 mA reached 19.6 mW. This represented a 30% enhancement compared to commercial UVC LEDs with Au-plated reflectors, due to the UVC light reflection by the photonic band gaps of 3D PhCs in the (111) crystallographic plane. Furthermore, after aging tests at 60 °C and 60% relative humidity for 1000 h, the relative LOP of UVC LEDs with 3D PhC reflectors decreased by 7%, which is better than that of commercial UVC LEDs. Memristive devices such as resistive switching memories and artificial synapses have emerged as promising technologies to overcome the technological challenges associated with the von Neumann bottleneck. Recently, lead halide perovskites have drawn substantial research attention as the candidate material for memristors and artificial synapses due to their unique optoelectronic properties, solution processability, and mechanical flexibility. However, the toxicity of lead‐containing species has raised major concerns for health and the environment, which makes it crucial to transition from lead‐based to lead‐free materials for practical applications. Herein, the recent progress of lead‐free metal halides including perovskites and perovskite analogs for resistive memory and artificial synapse is reviewed. Initially, the fundamentals of lead‐free materials and switching mechanisms are introduced. Next, the material design, fabrication technique, and device performance are summarized and critically evaluated for each metal halide species. Finally, the challenges of the lead‐free metal halides toward memristors and artificial synapses are outlined and discussed, and some potential research directions for future study are proposed. We provide an approach of elastic flow with dynamic conditions at the knot points to resolve the path planning problem in the plane. The elastic flow is set up by a second-order semilinear parabolic system with nonlocal lower-order terms. Background: Acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) is a critical cardiovascular emergency that requires prompt surgical intervention for preserving life, particularly in patients with critical preoperative status. This retrospective study aimed to investigate the clinical features, early and late outcomes, and prognostic factors in patients undergoing aortic repair surgery for ATAAD complicated with preoperative shock. Methods: Between April 2007 and July 2020, 694 consecutive patients underwent emergency ATAAD repair at our institution, including 162 (23.3%) presenting with preoperative shock (systolic blood pressure <90 mm Hg), who were classified into the survivor (n = 125) and non-survivor (n = 37) groups according to whether they survived to hospital discharge. The clinical demographics, surgical information, and postoperative complications were compared. Five-year survival and freedom from reoperation rates of survivors were analyzed using the Kaplan–Meier actuarial method. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors for in-hospital mortality. Results: The in-hospital surgical mortality rate in patients with ATAAD and shock was 22.8%. The non-survivor group showed higher rates of preoperative cardiopulmonary resuscitation, acute myocardial infarction, and cerebral infarction, and was associated with longer cardiopulmonary bypass time, higher rates of total arch replacement and intraoperative extracorporeal membrane oxygenation implementation. The non-survivor group had higher blood transfusion volumes and rates of malperfusion-related complications. Multivariate analysis revealed that preoperative cardiopulmonary resuscitation, prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass time, and total arch replacement were risk factors for in-hospital mortality. For patients who survived to discharge, the 5-year cumulative survival and freedom from aortic reoperation rates were 75.6% (95% confidence interval, 67.6%–83.6%) and 82.6% (95% confidence interval, 74.2%–91.1%), respectively. Conclusions: Preoperative shock in ATAAD is associated with a high risk of in-hospital mortality, particularly in patients who undergo cardiopulmonary resuscitation and complex aortic repair procedures with extended cardiopulmonary bypass. Simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) has been advocated as a highly promising technology for enhancing the capabilities of 5G and 6G devices. However, the challenge of dealing with large propagation path loss poses a significant hurdle. To address this issue, massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) is employed to enhance the efficiency of SWIPT in cellular-based networks with multiple small cells, and especially increase the energy for cell-edge users. In addition, by leveraging a large set of spatially distributed base stations to collaboratively serve SWIPT-enabled user equipment, the cell-free massive MIMO has the potential to provide even better performance than the conventional small-cell systems. In this work, we extend the investigation to include the application of SWIPT technology with alternating current (AC) logic in the cell-free networks and the small-cell networks and propose joint beamforming and power splitting optimization frameworks to maximize the system sum-rate, subject to the constraints on harvested energy, AC logic energy supply, and total transmit power. The optimization problem is shown to be non-convex, posing a significant challenge. To address this challenge, we resort to a two-stage decomposition approach. Specifically, we first introduce quadratic transform-based fractional programming (FP) algorithms to iteratively solve the non-convex optimization problems in the first stage, achieving near-optimal solutions with low time complexities. To further reduce the complexities, we also incorporate conventional schemes such as zero forcing, maximum ratio transmission, and signal-to-leakage-and-noise ratio for the design of beamforming vectors. Second, to determine the optimal power splitting ratio within the framework, we develop a one-dimensional (1-D) search algorithm to tackle the single variable optimization problem reduced in the second stage. These algorithms are then evaluated in the context of cell-free MIMO and small-cell networks with numerical experiments. The results show that the FP-based algorithms can consistently outperform those utilizing the conventional beamforming schemes, and the solutions of this work can achieve up to fivefold improvement in the system sum-rate than the small-cell counterpart while providing different but comparable performance trends in energy harvesting (EH). The rapid development of mixed‐halide perovskites has established a versatile optoelectronic platform owing to their extraordinary physical properties, but there remain challenges toward achieving highly reliable synthesis and performance, in addition, post‐synthesis approaches for tuning their photoluminescence properties after device fabrication remain limited. In this work, an effective approach is reported to leveraging hot electrons generated from plasmonic nanostructures to regulate the optical properties of perovskites. A plasmonic metasurface composed of Au nanoparticles can effectively tailor both photoluminescence and location‐specific phase segregation of mixed‐halide CsPbI2Br thin films. The ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy measurements reveal hot electron injection on the timescale of hundreds of femtoseconds. Photocurrent measurements confirm the hot‐electron‐enhanced photon‐carrier conversion, and in addition, gate‐voltage tuning of phase segregation is observed because of correlated carrier injection and halide migration in the perovskite films. Finally, the characteristics of the gate‐modulated light emission are found to conform to a rectified linear unit function, serving as nonlinear electrical‐to‐optical converters in artificial neural networks. Overall, the hot electron engineering approach demonstrated in this work provides effective location‐specific control of the phase and optical properties of halide perovskites, underscoring the potential of plasmonic metasurfaces for advancing perovskite technologies. Ion implantation doping is the primary method for forming p–n junctions in HgCdTe. However, the doping and activation in HgCdTe are influenced by various complex factors, leading to inconsistencies between the actual carriers and the distribution of impurities. Currently, there are few experimental reports on nanoscale carrier distribution in HgCdTe photovoltaic structures. In this study, we employed scanning capacitance microscopy (SCM) to obtain the nanoscale dC/dV profiles on the cross-section of HgCdTe diodes, which refer to the distributions of electrons and holes in the junction region. The depletion area of the p–n junction was then identified precisely according to the measurement. For the arsenic-implanted p-on-n structure, the electrical distribution is highly consistent with that of the dopants. In contrast, for the n-on-p structure, the SCM study reveals the formation of n−–p and p–p regions instead of the simple n+-p junction by heat treatment after boron-ion implantation; both are believed to play key roles in achieving optimal performance of HgCdTe photodetectors. Our study provides a direct approach to uncover the spatial distribution of carriers in the HgCdTe p–n junction, which is crucial in determining the electrical and photoelectric properties of the diodes. Background and objective: Local advanced rectal cancer (LARC) poses significant treatment challenges due to its location and high recurrence rates. Accurate early detection is vital for treatment planning. With magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) being resource-intensive, this study explores using artificial intelligence (AI) to interpret computed tomography (CT) scans as an alternative, providing a quicker, more accessible diagnostic tool for LARC. Methods: In this retrospective study, CT images of 1070 T3–4 rectal cancer patients from 2010 to 2022 were analyzed. AI models, trained on 739 cases, were validated using two test sets of 134 and 197 cases. By utilizing techniques such as nonlocal mean filtering, dynamic histogram equalization, and the EfficientNetB0 algorithm, we identified images featuring characteristics of a positive circumferential resection margin (CRM) for the diagnosis of locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). Importantly, this study employs an innovative approach by using both hard and soft voting systems in the second stage to ascertain the LARC status of cases, thus emphasizing the novelty of the soft voting system for improved case identification accuracy. The local recurrence rates and overall survival of the cases predicted by our model were assessed to underscore its clinical value. Results: The AI model exhibited high accuracy in identifying CRM-positive images, achieving an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.89 in the first test set and 0.86 in the second. In a patient-based analysis, the model reached AUCs of 0.84 and 0.79 using a hard voting system. Employing a soft voting system, the model attained AUCs of 0.93 and 0.88, respectively. Notably, AI-identified LARC cases exhibited a significantly higher five-year local recurrence rate and displayed a trend towards increased mortality across various thresholds. Furthermore, the model's capability to predict adverse clinical outcomes was superior to those of traditional assessments. Conclusion: AI can precisely identify CRM-positive LARC cases from CT images, signaling an increased local recurrence and mortality rate. Imbalance classification is common in scenarios like fault diagnosis, intrusion detection, and medical diagnosis, where obtaining abnormal data is difficult. This article addresses a one-class problem, implementing and refining the One-Class Nearest-Neighbor (OCNN) algorithm. The original inter-quartile range mechanism is replaced with the K-means with outlier removal (KMOR) algorithm for efficient outlier identification in the target class. Parameters are optimized by treating these outliers as non-target-class samples. A new algorithm, the Location-based Nearest-Neighbor (LBNN) algorithm, clusters one-class training data using KMOR and calculates the farthest distance and percentile for each test data point to determine if it belongs to the target class. Experiments cover parameter studies, validation on eight standard imbalanced datasets from KEEL, and three applications on real medical imbalanced datasets. Background: Acute type A aortic intramural hematoma (ATAIMH) is a variant of acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD), exhibiting an increased risk of hemopericardium and cardiac tamponade. It can be life-threatening without emergency treatment. However, comprehensive studies of the clinical features and surgical outcomes of preoperative hemopericardium in patients with ATAIMH remain scarce. This retrospective study aims to investigate the clinical features and early and late outcomes of patients who underwent aortic repair surgery for ATAIMH complicated with preoperative hemopericardium. Methods: We investigated 132 consecutive patients who underwent emergency ATAIMH repair at this institution between February 2007 and August 2020. These patients were dichotomized into the hemopericardium (n = 58; 43.9%) and non-hemopericardium groups (n = 74; 56.1%). We compared the clinical demographics, surgical information, postoperative complications, 5-year cumulative survival rates, and freedom from reoperation rates. Furthermore, multivariable logistic regression analysis was utilized to identify independent risk factors for patients who underwent re-exploration for bleeding. Results: In the hemopericardium group, 36.2% of patients presented with cardiac tamponade before surgery. Moreover, the hemopericardium group showed higher rates of preoperative shock and endotracheal intubation and was associated with an elevated incidence of intractable perioperative bleeding, necessitating delayed sternal closure for hemostasis. The hemopericardium group exhibited higher blood transfusion volumes and rates of re-exploration for bleeding following surgery. However, the 5-year survival (59.5% vs. 75.0%; P = 0.077) and freedom from reoperation rates (93.3% vs. 85.5%; P = 0.416) were comparable between both groups. Multivariable analysis revealed that hemopericardium, cardiopulmonary bypass time, and delayed sternal closure were the risk factors for bleeding re-exploration. Conclusions: The presence of hemopericardium in patients with ATAIMH is associated with an elevated incidence of cardiac tamponade and unstable preoperative hemodynamics, which could lead to perioperative bleeding tendencies and high complication rates. However, patients of ATAIMH complicated with hemopericardium undergoing aggressive surgical intervention exhibited long-term surgical outcomes comparable to those without hemopericardium. The goal of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) is to solve problems in a way that humans can understand how it does it. For data association there is growing demand for XAI, in which the measurement uncertainty and target (dynamic or/and measurement) model uncertainty are two fundamental problems in maneuvering target tracking in clutter. It commonly suffers of false alarms and missed detections. These situations focus on enhancing explainability, mitigating bias and creating better outcomes for all. Most the probabilistic data association (PDA) methods are weakly able, or even unable, to explain data association. To overcome these situations, the XAI components employed of two modules of Fuzzy-joint probability data association (FJDA) and Fuzzy maneuver compensator (FMC) are first established. Next, these two modules are further employed to construct maneuver tracking scheme, FJDA is then utilized to evaluate the association degree of measurements belonging to different targets and FMC plays compensation role in accordance with maneuver need. The performances of the proposed maneuver tracking scheme were compared with the PDA method and the joint probabilistic data association (JPDA) method using simulated radar surveillance data under a high cluttered environment. The numerical simulation proposed maneuver tracking scheme embedded XAI components FJDA/FCM having a remarkable improvement, due to fully utilize the useful knowledge information in the data association and reduces the impact of measurement uncertainties of the maneuvering target tracking with changing dynamics. Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) modulates the generation of typhoons (TYs) in the western North Pacific (WNP). Using IBTrACS v04 tropical cyclone best path data, ERA5 reanalysis data, and the MJO index from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC), this paper defines an index to describe the persistent anomalies of the MJO and to examine the statistical characteristics of TYs over 44 years (1978–2021), focusing on the analysis of major differences in environmental conditions after the removal of the ENSO signal over the WNP. The results indicate that the persistent anomalous state of the MJO influences the change in large-scale environmental factors, which, in turn, affects the generation of TYs, as follows: (1) For the I high-value years, the center of the MJO stagnates in the Indian Ocean–South China Sea (SCS), the monsoon trough retreats westward, the warm pool becomes warmer, and the Walker circulation is enhanced. There is stronger upper-level divergence and low-level convergence, larger low-level relative vorticity, higher mid-level relative humidity, and smaller vertical wind shear in the SCS and the seas near the Philippines. Consequently, these conditions foster a conducive environment for TY genesis in the SCS and the seas near the Philippines. (2) For the I low-value years, the center of the MJO stagnates in the WNP–North America region, the monsoon trough extends eastward, the warm pool becomes colder, and the Walker circulation is weakened. Consequently, these conditions are more likely to facilitate TY genesis in the central–eastern WNP. We reviewed the clinical course and histopathologic findings for cases involving the formation of expanding cysts and/or hematomas after gamma knife surgery (GKS) for arteriovenous malformations (AVMs). We report a single-center retrospective review of 18 patients who presented with cyst and/or hematoma expansion after GKS for AVMs between 1993 and 2023. Expanding cysts and hematomas were defined as well-demarcated cavities filled with fluid or well-marginated heterogenous hematomas presenting with expansion proximal to or in the location of the original AVM, respectively. Patient demographics, AVM characteristics, history of interventions and surgeries, and imaging and histopathologic features of expanding cysts and hematomas were collected for analysis. Among 1072 AVM patients treated using GKS, 18 presented with expanding cysts or hematomas during a total follow-up period of 16,757 patient-years (0.11 case/100 persons/patient-year). The time to cyst or hematoma identification was 4–13 years after initial GKS, with a mean duration of 8.6 years. Among the patients examined, 7 (38.9%) presented mainly with hematoma, 10 (55.6%) presented mainly with cysts, and 1 presented with approximately equal components of both. Among the 18 patients, 13 (72.2%) underwent craniotomy to treat cyst or hematoma expansion. All the specimens had similar histopathologic characteristics, including organizing hematoma with fresh and old hemorrhage, fibrinoid necrosis of the vessels, gliosis of normal brain tissue, infiltration of hemosiderin-laden histiocytes, and extravascular protein leakage. Our findings suggest that the formation of these 2 complications can be attributed to a common mechanism involving radiation-induced vascular damage in brain tissue adjacent to the AVM and subsequent chronic inflammation and capillary dilatation. Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a major risk factor for osteoporosis/osteoporotic fractures. We aimed to elucidate the role of treatment choices among osteoporosis/osteoporotic fractures. Methodology: We utilized the Chang‐Gung Research Database to assess the risks of osteoporosis/osteoporotic fractures among independently treated RA patients, using retrospective time‐to‐event outcomes analysis. Results: A total of 3509 RA patients with a mean of 63.1 ± 8.6 years were analyzed. Among all, 1300 RA patients (37%) were diagnosed with newly diagnosed osteoporosis. The crude incidence of newly diagnosed osteoporosis was the highest among those treated with other conventional disease‐modifying anti‐rheumatic drugs (cDMARDs; 74.1 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 66.0–82.3), followed by those with a non‐treatment period (68 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 63.1–72.9), methotrxate (MTX) monotherapy (60.7 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 41.2–80.3), MTX plus other cDMARDs (51.9 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 43.4–60.3), and abatacept/rituximab (48.6 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 14.9–82.3). The lowest crude incidence was found in patients treated with anti‐TNFi biologics (40.4 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 28.6–52.2) and other biologic disease‐modifying anti‐rheumatic drugs (bDMARDs; 40.1 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 8.0–72.1). A total of 270 patients (20.8%) suffered from an incident fracture during follow‐ups. The crude incidence of fracture was the highest among those treated with abatacept/rituximab (49.0 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 6.0–91.9), followed by those with non‐treatment periods (24.3 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 19.3–29.4), other cDMARDs (24.2 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 18.1–30.2), anti‐TNFi biologics (20.2 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 8.8–31.6). Other bDMARDs (13.3 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 0–39.2), MTX mono (12.5 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 0.3–24.8), and MTX plus other cDMARDs (11.4 events/1000‐PYs, 95%CI 5.4–17.4) were low incidences. Conclusion: The treatment option has emerged as a critical determinant in the context of future osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture risks among RA. These findings offer a valuable resource for clinicians, empowering them to tailor bespoke treatment strategies for RA patients, thereby mitigating the potential for future osteoporosis and fractures. Pyrgonota bifoliata (Insecta: Hemiptera: Membracidae) is a distinct endemic Philippine treehopper species complex distinguished by its extremely elevated and bifurcated pronotal structures. An earlier study suggested that P. bifoliata is a host specialist that feeds on Bridelia (Phyllanthaceae) in northern Luzon and Rubus (Rosaceae) in southern Mindanao. However, the host plant range across the geographical distribution of the P. bifoliata species complex is still poorly understood. In this study, field observations and DNA barcoding were performed to determine the host plant range of P. bifoliata in the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve of Laguna Province on the island of Luzon. The morphology of the last-instar nymph of P. bifoliata was described to facilitate the identification of the species and its host plants. Behavioural interactions between P. bifoliata and its associated ants were also recorded. The results revealed that Piper umbellatum (Piperaceae) and Saurauia latibractea (Actinidiaceae) were the major host plants used by both nymphs and adults of P. bifoliata. The findings indicate that P. bifoliata in the Mount Makiling Forest Reserve of central Luzon is a polyphagous host generalist that primarily utilises two distantly related plant species. The adults of P. bifoliata also occur on Alangium longiflorum (Cornaceae) and Ficus ulmifolia (Moraceae). The nymphs of P. bifoliata are gregarious in small groups and visited by three ant species (Crematogaster sp., Pheidole sp. and Technomyrmex sp.); however, the adults of P. bifoliata are solitary and are never observed with ants. Improper acetabulum component position is a significant risk factor for postoperative dislocation after total hip arthroplasty. Several radiographic two‐dimensional methods exist for measuring acetabulum component anteversion, but they cannot distinguish between anteversion and retroversion. "Liaw's version," initially proposed as a simple mathematical standardized two‐dimensional method, was modified to the computerized ellipse method, proving superior accuracy to traditional two‐dimensional methods. In this article, we demonstrated its application in detecting and measuring retroverted acetabulum component. We obtained anteroposterior pelvis radiographs from a patient undergoing total hip arthroplasty on the day of surgery and 2 weeks postoperatively. The computerized ellipse method was used to measure the acetabulum component orientation. Upon comparison, the difference between θ assigned to be retroverted (9.52–8.56 = 0.96) is much smaller than the difference between θ assigned to be anteverted (23.81–18.86 = 4.95), leading us to determine retroversion. This was further confirmed by computed tomography at the 6‐week follow‐up. We propose that using the computerized ellipse method to measure Liaw's version can be a valuable tool in identifying acetabulum component retroversion on anteroposterior radiographs during routine postoperative follow‐up and retrospective assessments of total hip arthroplasty patients. Background: Streptomyces lincolnensis is well known for producing the clinically important antimicrobial agent lincomycin. The synthetic and regulatory mechanisms on lincomycin biosynthesis have been deeply explored in recent years. However, the regulation involved in primary metabolism have not been fully addressed. Results: SLCG_7083 protein contains a Per-Arnt-Sim (PAS) domain at the N-terminus, whose homologous proteins are highly distributed in Streptomyces. The inactivation of the SLCG_7083 gene indicated that SLCG_7083 promotes glucose utilization, slows mycelial growth and affects sporulation in S. lincolnensis. Comparative transcriptomic analysis further revealed that SLCG_7083 represses eight genes involved in sporulation, cell division and lipid metabolism, and activates two genes involved in carbon metabolism. Conclusions: SLCG_7083 is a PAS domain-containing regulator on morphological development and glucose utilization in S. lincolnensis. Measurement of real-ear-to-coupler differentials (RECDs) is a critical part of the hearing aid (HA) verification process. This study examines the validity of reference RECD values preset by the HA analyzer, Audioscan RM500, for deaf-and-hard-of-hearing (DHH) children in Taiwan. RECD measurements were performed on 658 ears of DHH children. A linear mixed model was used to analyze the reference and measured RECD values. The findings revealed slight disparities between normative RECD values from North America and those observed in Taiwanese DHH children. While generally small (less than 5 dB), these differences imply potential challenges in achieving optimal HA fitting in specific scenarios. Therefore, we recommend individualized RECD/REM measurements for cases of poor auditory performance, certain frequency ranges, or notable variations in ear canal volume. From a clinical perspective, while broadly applicable, the use of North American RECD normative data in Taiwan requires cautious consideration of potential minor variations. This study contributes to current knowledge by affirming the use of a Western RECD database for Taiwanese DHH children. However, we underscore the ongoing importance of individualized HA fitting strategies, particularly for cases with stagnant intervention progress. While built-in RECD reference values can offer preliminary fitting guidance, especially in busy clinical settings, our study sheds light on the circumstances where caution is essential. Audiologists can efficiently allocate their time and effort by focusing on personalized RECD measurements for cases exhibiting suboptimal intervention outcomes, thereby effectively optimizing HA gain settings. Background: Neuromuscular blockade agents (NMBAs) can be used to facilitate mechanical ventilation in critically ill patients. Accumulating evidence has shown that NMBAs may be associated with intensive care unit (ICU)-acquired weakness and poor outcomes. However, the long-term impact of NMBAs on mortality is still unclear. Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis using the 2015–2019 critical care databases at Taichung Veterans General Hospital, a referral center in central Taiwan, as well as the Taiwan nationwide death registry profile. Results: A total of 5709 ventilated patients were eligible for further analysis, with 63.8% of them were male. The mean age of enrolled subjects was 67.8 ± 15.8 years, and the one-year mortality was 48.3% (2755/5709). Compared with the survivors, the non-survivors had a higher age (70.4 ± 14.9 vs 65.4 ± 16.3, p < 0.001), Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II score (28.0 ± 6.2 vs 24.7 ± 6.5, p < 0.001), a longer duration of ventilator use (12.6 ± 10.6 days vs 7.8 ± 8.5 days, p < 0.001), and were more likely to receive NMBAs for longer than 48 h (11.1% vs 7.8%, p < 0.001). After adjusting for age, sex, and relevant covariates, the use of NMBAs for longer than 48 h was found to be independently associated with an increased risk of mortality (adjusted HR: 1.261; 95% CI: 1.07–1.486). The analysis of effect modification revealed that this association was tended to be strong in patients with a Charlson Comorbidity Index of 3 or higher. Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that prolonged use of NMBAs was associated with an increased risk of long-term mortality in critically ill patients requiring mechanical ventilation. Previously, the discrimination of collagen types I and II was successfully achieved using peptide pitch angle and anisotropic parameter methods. However, these methods require fitting polarization second harmonic generation (SHG) pixel-wise information into generic mathematical models, revealing inconsistencies in categorizing collagen type I and II blend hydrogels. In this study, a ResNet approach based on multipolarization SHG imaging is proposed for the categorization and regression of collagen type I and II blend hydrogels at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% type II, without the need for prior time-consuming model fitting. A ResNet model, pretrained on 18 progressive polarization SHG images at 10° intervals for each percentage, categorizes the five blended collagen hydrogels with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.021, while the model pretrained on nonpolarization images exhibited 0.083 MAE. Moreover, the pretrained models can also generally regress the blend hydrogels at 20%, 40%, 60%, and 80% type II. In conclusion, the multipolarization SHG image-based ResNet analysis demonstrates the potential for an automated approach using deep learning to extract valuable information from the collagen matrix. Absrtact: Background: Patients treated with anti-epidermal growth factor receptor (anti-EGFR) will ultimately develop acquired resistance promoted by clonal selection, mainly the emergence of mutations in the MAPK pathway (mostly RAS mutations). Baseline assessment of RAS mutations in the blood of patients correlates well with RAS tumour tissue testing and is currently an alternative option in routine clinical practice to guide first-line therapy. The aim of this study was the prevalence of acquired genomic alterations detected in the auxiliary tool of ctDNA testing and investigated the role of RAS ctDNA status for detecting tumour response and predicting benefit to anti-EGFR therapy. Methods: Only patients with concordant wild-type formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tumour tissue and baseline ctDNA RAS wild-type were included. RAS mutations in plasma were evaluated using MassARRAY platform. Blood samples were collected at baseline, every 3 months during first-line treatment, and at disease progression. The primary endpoint was the detection rate of RAS mutations during cetuximab treatment. The correlation between response and survival outcomes and the emergence of circulating RAS mutations was also analysed. Results: The detection rate of RAS mutations during treatment was 9.3% (10/108). RAS mutations detection occurred a median of 3 months prior to radiologic documentation. The subgroup of patients with RAS mutations exhibited significantly inferior progression-free survival and overall survival (P = 0.002 and 0.027, respectively) but the baseline characteristics, response rates, disease control rates, and metastatectomy were not significant (all P > 0.05). Conclusions: We demonstrated that RAS ctDNA status might be a valuable biomarker for detecting early tumour response and predicting benefit to anti-EGFR therapy. This study intends to assess the analgesic effects, physical facilitation, and safety of willow bark use in patients with arthritis. Our study was conducted based on the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched for relative randomized controlled trials (RCTs) describing the efficacy or adverse events of willow bark in patients with arthritis until 12 April 2023. We used Cochrane ROB 2.0 and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations system to evaluate the quality of studies and evidence. The meta-analysis was carried out by the fix-effects model. This study included five studies with six RCTs consisting of 329 patients with arthritis. The results showed significant differences in pain relief and improvement in physical status for patients with arthritis between willow bark treatment and placebo groups, and no significant differences in the risk of all adverse events in patients with arthritis between willow bark treatment and placebo. Background: The management of knee osteoarthritis involves various treatment strategies. It is important to explore alternative therapies that are both safe and effective. Collagen peptides have emerged as a potential intervention for knee osteoarthritis. This study aims to evaluate the analgesic effects and safety of collagen peptide in patients diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature search following the guidelines of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses statement. Multiple databases including PubMed, Scopus, EMBASE, Web of Science, Cochrane, and ClinicalTrials.gov were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) published up to 27 May 2023 that focused on the analgesic outcomes and adverse events associated with collagen peptides or hydrolyzed collagen in patients with osteoarthritis. We assessed the quality of the included studies and the strength of evidence using the Cochrane ROB 2.0 tool and Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development, and Evaluations. Results: Four trials involving 507 patients with knee osteoarthritis were included and analyzed using the random-effects model. All these trials were considered to have a high risk of bias. Our results revealed a significant difference in pain relief between the collagen peptide group and the placebo group in patients with knee osteoarthritis (standardized mean difference: − 0.58; 95% CI − 0.98, − 0.18, p = 0.004; I2: 68%; quality of evidence: moderate). However, there was no significant difference in the risk of adverse events between collagen peptide and placebo (odds ratio: 1.66; 95% CI 0.99, 2.78, p = 0.05; I2: 0%; quality of evidence: very low). Conclusions: Our findings demonstrate significant pain relief in patients with knee osteoarthritis who received collagen peptides compared to those who received placebo. In addition, the risk of adverse events did not differ significantly between the collagen peptide group and the placebo group. Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSC) exhibits genetic heterogeneity in etiologies, tumor sites, and biological processes, which significantly impact therapeutic strategies and prognosis. While the influence of human papillomavirus on clinical outcomes is established, the molecular subtypes determining additional treatment options for HNSC remain unclear and inconsistent. This study aims to identify distinct HNSC molecular subtypes to enhance diagnosis and prognosis accuracy. In this study, we collected three HNSC microarrays (n = 306) from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), and HNSC RNA-Seq data (n = 566) from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and validate our results. Two scoring methods, representative score (RS) and perturbative score (PS), were developed for DEGs to summarize their possible activation functions and influence in tumorigenesis. Based on the RS and PS scoring, we selected candidate genes to cluster TCGA samples for the identification of molecular subtypes in HNSC. We have identified 289 up-regulated DEGs and selected 88 genes (called HNSC88) using the RS and PS scoring methods. Based on HNSC88 and TCGA samples, we determined three HNSC subtypes, including one HPV-associated subtype, and two HPV-negative subtypes. One of the HPV-negative subtypes showed a relationship to smoking behavior, while the other exhibited high expression in tumor immune response. The Kaplan–Meier method was used to compare overall survival among the three subtypes. The HPV-associated subtype showed a better prognosis compared to the other two HPV-negative subtypes (log rank, p = 0.0092 and 0.0001; hazard ratio, 1.36 and 1.39). Additionally, within the HPV-negative group, the smoking-related subgroup exhibited worse prognosis compared to the subgroup with high expression in immune response (log rank, p = 0.039; hazard ratio, 1.53). The HNSC88 not only enables the identification of HPV-associated subtypes, but also proposes two potential HPV-negative subtypes with distinct prognoses and molecular signatures. Due to the change in the structure of the proximal femur and acetabulum in patients with developmental dysplasia of the hip, total hip arthroplasty (THA) was difficult to perform for surgeons. To elevate the acetabular coverage rate, we developed a technique in the use of a patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) graft in patients with developmental dysplasia of hip (DDH) undergoing surgery. This study aims to evaluate the peri-operative outcomes of THA with PSI graft in patients with DDH. This study recruited 6 patients suffering from Crowe I DDH with secondary Grade IV osteoarthritis. All the patients underwent THA with PSI graft performed by a well-experienced surgeon. Perioperative outcomes included surgical procedures, blood loss during operation, the volume of blood transfusion, length of hospitalization, complications, and the mean difference in hemoglobin levels before and after surgery. All the outcomes analyzed were assessed by mean and standard deviation. The average duration of the surgical procedure was found to be 221.17 min, with an SD of 19.65 min. The mean blood loss during the operation was 733.33 mL, with an SD of 355.90 mL. The mean length of hospital stay was calculated to be 6 days, with an SD of 0.89 days. Furthermore, the mean difference between the pre- and postoperative hemoglobin levels was 2.15, with an SD of 0.99. A total of three patients received 2 units of leukocyte-poor red blood cells (LPR) as an accepted blood transfusion. There were no reported complications observed during the admission and one month after the operation. This study reported the peri-operative outcomes in the patients with DDH who underwent THA with PSI graft. We found that THA with PSI graft would provide a safe procedure without significant complications. We assumed that the PSI graft in THA may increase the coverage rate of the acetabulum, which may increase the graft union rates. This study is based on Flammulina velutipes (enoki mushroom) cultivation farm and considers the existing equipment conditions. As a large number of autoclaves are commonly used for pretreatment and sterilization of bulk bags in mushroom cultivation farms, this situation has been integrated into the research design. Actually, most of the enoki mushroom fiber is insoluble dietary fiber (IDF), which is not in favor of its development. Conversion of insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) to soluble dietary fiber (SDF) is a regular method for better use of dietary fiber in the food industry. Here, autoclaving treatment was conducted for 10 min, and then combined with the enzymatic hydrolysis and adjusting the solid–liquid ratio to 20% (w v–1), the extraction rate of enoki mushroom SDF increased from 7.55 to 11.48 mass%, which is the best conversion ratio; it was also found that its glucose content increased by 1.82 mg g–1. Furthermore, through the analysis of liquid chromatography, microstructure, and specific functional groups, it was confirmed that autoclaving pretreatment combined with the use of enzymatic hydrolysis can convert the almost cellulose structure of enoki mushroom into natural additives of SDF and IDF; they can be extensively used in food processing. In addition, a scanning rate of 4 °C min–1 was selected as the reference benchmark for comparing the thermal stability and characteristics. From the perspective of the onset temperature of the crystallization reaction, IDF is approximately 220 °C, while SDF begins to exhibit a crystallization exothermic reaction at around 230 °C. In terms of thermal decomposition reaction, SDF has a higher onset temperature of exothermic decomposition above 280 °C, while IDF is only around 270 °C. The enthalpy of exothermic decomposition is also different between the two, with SDF having a value approximately twice that of IDF (27 kJ kg–1) Overall, using autoclaving combined with enzymatic extraction, the issues with products with unsalable period and poor selling appearance can be solved, and the high-quality dietary fiber also can be used for food additives, realizing agricultural waste reduction and added value to circular economy for SDG12 by responsible consumption and production. Bismuth(III) sulfide (Bi 2 S 3) is a promising cathode material for aqueous zinc ion batteries (ZIBs), yet suffers from serious capacity issues due to its poor electrical conductivity and microstructural degradations. In this work, Bi 2 S 3 anchored on reduced graphene oxide (rGO) is prepared through hydrothermal reaction and is used as cathode material for aqueous ZIBs. Raman and XPS characterizations confirmed that the oxygen bridge in Bi–O–C heterostructures is successfully created during the hydrothermal synthesis. These oxygen bridges are energy favourable in the Bi 2 S 3 /rGO composite materials and serve as the electron transfer channels for rapid charge compensation during Zn2+ incorporation/extraction. Rotating ring–disc electrode (RRDE) measurements demonstrate improved electrochemical stability of the Bi 2 S 3 /rGO composite material compared to pristine Bi 2 S 3. As a result of these improved characteristics, Bi 2 S 3 /rGO composite shows notably better rate performance and cycling stability than unsupported Bi 2 S 3. Ex-situ X-ray diffraction and XPS characterizations indicate that Zn2+ undergoes a reversible conversion reaction with Bi 2 S 3 to form ZnS/Bi0, rather than being intercalated into Bi 2 S 3 crystal interlayers. The rGO substrate forms chemical bonds with bismuth in the composite material, and the strongly anchored bismuth on the rGO through a Bi–O–C bridge enables a highly reversible conversion reaction. As a result, the Bi 2 S 3 /rGO composite with 8 wt% rGO can deliver a reversible capacity of ∼186 mAh g−1 at the current density of 500 mA g−1 after 150 cycles, showing high promise as Zn-ion battery material. Background In maintenance hemodialysis patients, intradialytic hypotension (IDH) is a frequent complication that has been associated with poor clinical outcomes. Prediction of IDH may facilitate timely interventions and eventually reduce IDH rates. Methods We developed a machine learning model to predict IDH in in-center hemodialysis patients 15–75 min in advance. IDH was defined as systolic blood pressure (SBP) <90 mmHg. Demographic, clinical, treatment-related and laboratory data were retrieved from electronic health records and merged with intradialytic machine data that were sent in real-time to the cloud. For model development, dialysis sessions were randomly split into training (80%) and testing (20%) sets. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROC) was used as a measure of the model's predictive performance. Results We utilized data from 693 patients who contributed 42   656 hemodialysis sessions and 355   693 intradialytic SBP measurements. IDH occurred in 16.2% of hemodialysis treatments. Our model predicted IDH 15–75 min in advance with an AUROC of 0.89. Top IDH predictors were the most recent intradialytic SBP and IDH rate, as well as mean nadir SBP of the previous 10 dialysis sessions. Conclusions Real-time prediction of IDH during an ongoing hemodialysis session is feasible and has a clinically actionable predictive performance. If and to what degree this predictive information facilitates the timely deployment of preventive interventions and translates into lower IDH rates and improved patient outcomes warrants prospective studies. The evolution of deep learning (DL) has made artificial intelligence image recognition a mature technology. Recently, the use of DL to identify diabetic retinopathy (DR) has been recognized as a major challenge. Retinal abnormalities caused by DR can damage the retina and thus cause permanent damage or even blindness. Therefore, the detection of diabetes symptoms at an early stage can help to considerably reduce the risk of blindness. The differences in environments, equipment, and photographers have led to the inconsistent specifications of images and have thus affected the efficiency of the training model for classifying the DR level. If low‐quality fundus images are removed through an image quality assessment (Eye‐Quality Library, EyeQ), the number of images of the trained model would considerably reduce, in turn affecting the reliability of the training model. To solve this problem, this paper proposes a preprocessing method to strengthen the image features. The results obtained in this study revealed that the preprocessing method could increase the amount of data available for the training model. Thus, this study improved the EfficientNet model for the enhancement of the classification performance of the DR level. The results also showed that an increase in the model accuracy from 0.7727 to 0.7920 for the classification of the different stages of DR. In addition, the results revealed that the revised EfficientNet could obtain better average area under the ROC curve among the five classes (0.926) than MobileNet (0.54) and the original EfficientNet (0.922). Finally, this study implemented the proposed system by using an application programming interface (API) to enable the users to upload a fundus image to the API and obtain the DR results. In this study, the mechanical properties and friction behavior of carbon/carbon (C/C) composites with and without stitching were investigated. The C/C composites were prepared via high-pressure liquid-phase infiltration, followed by carbonization and graphitization over several cycles. The unstitched C/C composites exhibited better comprehensive mechanical and friction properties and showed excellent application potential for the field of high-temperature friction. Objective: This study investigated Hounsfield unit (HU) differences in adult spinal deformity (ASD) surgery patients with and without proximal junctional kyphosis (PJK), a common complication. Summary Background Data: Previous studies have identified osteoporosis as a PJK risk factor, and CT scanning is a valuable tool for detecting osteoporosis through HU measurements. The study aimed to determine the level of HU difference between patients diagnosed with and without PJK. Methods: We conducted a meta-analysis using a random-effects model of randomized controlled trials and cohort studies that assessed HUs for ASD surgery patients who developed PJKs. We searched in PubMed, Embase, Ovid, The Cochrane Library, and Web of Science up to October 2022 and had two authors extract data and evaluate bias. Results: Four cohort studies with 250 patients were included in this study. Measurements of HUs at upper instrumented vertebra (UIV) and UIV+1 showed significant differences between PJKs and non-PJKs. (Mean difference (MD) at UIV: −25.36, 95% CI: −39.16, −11.56, p = 0.0003; MD at UIV+1: −21.06, 95% CI: −38.25, −3.88, p = 0.02). Conclusions: The study found measuring HUs of UIV and UIV+1 can predict the occurrence of PJK in ASD surgery. Further prospective studies are warranted to validate our findings. Type 1 diabetes is an inflammatory state. Myeloid-derived suppressive cells (MDSCs) originate from immature myeloid cells and quickly expand to control host immunity during infection, inflammation, trauma, and cancer. This study presents an ex vivo procedure to develop MDSCs from bone marrow cells propagated from granulocyte–macrophage-colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-1β cytokines expressing immature morphology and high immunosuppression of T-cell proliferation. The adoptive transfer of cytokine-induced MDSCs (cMDSCs) improved the hyperglycemic state and prolonged the diabetes-free survival of nonobese diabetic (NOD) mice with severe combined immune deficiency (SCID) induced by reactive splenic T cells harvested from NOD mice. In addition, the application of cMDSCs reduced fibronectin production in the renal glomeruli and improved renal function and proteinuria in diabetic mice. Moreover, cMDSCs use mitigated pancreatic insulitis to restore insulin production and reduce the levels of HbA1c. In conclusion, administering cMDSCs propagated from GM-CSF, IL-6, and IL-1β cytokines provides an alternative immunotherapy protocol for treating diabetic pancreatic insulitis and renal nephropathy. To implement various artificial intelligence and automation applications in smart factories, edge computing and industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) devices must be widely deployed, so as to increase the demand of coping with huge-scale and high-diversity data. Through deployment of fifth-generation (5G) networks (providing wide broadband, low latency, and massive machine type communications), industrial wireless networks, cloud, and fixed/mobile end devices in smart factories are interoperated in a harmony. However, with the huge-scale deployment of 5G networks and the IIoT in smart factories, threats and attacks against various vulnerabilities increase enormously, and cause considerable security and privacy challenges. Consequently, this article investigates crucial security and privacy issues for 5G-IIoT smart factories in three entities (i.e., physical layer, data layer and application layer), and further surveys recent approaches based on deep learning, reinforcement learning, and blockchain. As a type of immunogenic cell death, ferroptosis participates in the creation of immunoactive tumor microenvironments. However, knowledge of spatial location of tumor cells with ferroptosis signature in tumor environments and the role of ferroptotic stress in inducing the expression of immune‐related molecules in cancer cells is limited. Here the spatial association of the transcriptomic signatures is demonstrated for ferroptosis and inflammation/immune activation located in the invasive front of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). The association between ferroptosis signature and inflammation/immune activation is more prominent in HPV‐negative HNSCC compared to HPV‐positive ones. Ferroptotic stress induces PD‐L1 expression through reactive oxygen species (ROS)‐elicited NF‐κB signaling pathway and calcium influx. Priming murine HNSCC with the ferroptosis inducer sensitizes tumors to anti‐PD‐L1 antibody treatment. A positive correlation between the ferroptosis signature and the active immune cell profile is shown in the HNSCC samples. This study reveals a subgroup of ferroptotic HNSCC with immune‐active signatures and indicates the potential of priming HNSCC with ferroptosis inducers to increase the antitumor efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. One‐pot (CF3CO)2O/K2CO3‐mediated tandem cyclocondensation of β‐ketosulfones with carboxylic acids provides diversified 3‐sulfonylchromones in good to excellent yields by refluxing MeCN under high‐pressure (using a sealed tube) and dry‐nitrogen atmospheric conditions. There is currently a lack of guidelines with regard to tubercular uveitis (TBU) management in Taiwan. We therefore propose an evidence-based consensus on the management for TBU. The Taiwan Ocular Inflammation Society conducted a meeting that included nine ophthalmologist and one infection disease expert that focused on three broad areas of (1) nomenclature for TBU, (2) assessment and diagnosis for TBU, and (3) treatment of TBU. Brief literature review on TBU diagnosis and management was conducted that informed this panel meeting in order to make decisions on each consensus statements. In terms of our results, a consensus statements and recommendations for the diagnosis and management of TBU were developed. This consensus statement provides an algorithmic approach toward diagnosing and managing TBU. These statements are meant to enhance but not replace individual clinician–patient interactions and to facilitate real-world clinical practice improvement in terms of TBU patients care. This article presents previous attempts to map Utopia, a fictional island in the book Utopia by Thomas More, and proposes another possibility, based on the assumption that Utopia is an enclosed garden on an artificial island that is not flat, but has piedmont slopes of 2.5:1. Our mapping experiment is founded on the Renaissance analogy between the domestication of wild nature, and the civilization of the human beings in More's enclosed garden; and on the anecdotal similarities between the Inca Empire and Utopia. This approach is not only consistent with the island's dimensional specifications, which have hampered previous mapping attempts due to their mathematical incompatibility, but it also addresses the educative capacity of utopian life not considered by previous mapping efforts. Utopia, as a result, is to be understood as a series of performative spatial arrangements where the physical and geographical specifications would inform the vernacular life of its inhabitants in the direction of self-enhancement. Nb-doped ZnO (NbxZn1−xO, NZO) thin films with various Nb additions (x = 0, 0.2, 0.5, and 0.8 at. %) were deposited on Pt/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrates by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The Nb doping concentration was found to affect the microstructure, the number of oxygen vacancies, and work function of the Pt/NZO/Pt structures. Among the various devices, the film with 0.5 at. % Nb addition showed a better switching-voltage stability [i.e., the optimal coefficient of variation (Cv) for reset (7.02%) and set (2.73%) operations, respectively], a high endurance (∼1000 cycles), and lower reset (0.57 V) and set (1.83 V) voltages due to a larger number of oxygen vacancies and a lower work function. Background: Diabetic retinopathy (DR) produces bleeding, exudation, and new blood vessel formation conditions. DR can damage the retinal blood vessels and cause vision loss or even blindness. If DR is detected early, ophthalmologists can use lasers to create tiny burns around the retinal tears to inhibit bleeding and prevent the formation of new blood vessels, in order to prevent deterioration of the disease. The rapid improvement of deep learning has made image recognition an effective technology; it can avoid misjudgments caused by different doctors' evaluations and help doctors to predict the condition quickly. The aim of this paper is to adopt visualization and preprocessing in the ResNet-50 model to improve module calibration, to enable the model to predict DR accurately. Results: This study compared the performance of the proposed method with other common CNNs models (Xception, AlexNet, VggNet-s, VggNet-16 and ResNet-50). In examining said models, the results alluded to an over-fitting phenomenon, and the outcome of the work demonstrates that the performance of the revised ResNet-50 (Train accuracy: 0.8395 and Test accuracy: 0.7432) is better than other common CNNs (that is, the revised structure of ResNet-50 could avoid the overfitting problem, decease the loss value, and reduce the fluctuation problem). Conclusions: This study proposed two approaches to designing the DR grading system: a standard operation procedure (SOP) for preprocessing the fundus image, and a revised structure of ResNet-50, including an adaptive learning rating to adjust the weight of layers, regularization and change the structure of ResNet-50, which was selected for its suitable features. It is worth noting that the purpose of this study was not to design the most accurate DR screening network, but to demonstrate the effect of the SOP of DR and the visualization of the revised ResNet-50 model. The advent of simultaneous wireless information and power (SWIPT) has been regarded as a promising technique to provide power supplies for an energy sustainable Internet of Things (IoT), which is of paramount importance due to the proliferation of high data communication demands of low-power network devices. In such networks, a multi-antenna base station (BS) in each cell can be utilized to concurrently transmit messages and energies to its intended IoT user equipment (IoT-UE) with a single antenna under a common broadcast frequency band, resulting in a multi-cell multi-input single-output (MISO) interference channel (IC). In this work, we aim to find the trade-off between the spectrum efficiency (SE) and energy harvesting (EH) in SWIPT-enabled networks with MISO ICs. For this, we derive a multi-objective optimization (MOO) formulation to obtain the optimal beamforming pattern (BP) and power splitting ratio (PR), and we propose a fractional programming (FP) model to find the solution. To tackle the nonconvexity of FP, an evolutionary algorithm (EA)-aided quadratic transform technique is proposed, which recasts the nonconvex problem as a sequence of convex problems to be solved iteratively. To further reduce the communication overhead and computational complexity, a distributed multi-agent learning-based approach is proposed that requires only partial observations of the channel state information (CSI). In this approach, each BS is equipped with a double deep Q network (DDQN) to determine the BP and PR for its UE with lower computational complexity based on the observations through a limited information exchange process. Finally, with the simulation experiments, we verify the trade-off between SE and EH, and we demonstrate that, apart from the FP algorithm introduced to provide superior solutions, the proposed DDQN algorithm also shows its performance gain in terms of utility to be up to 1.23-, 1.87-, and 3.45-times larger than the Advantage Actor Critic (A2C), greedy, and random algorithms, respectively, in comparison in the simulated environment. Background: Robotic surgery and ERAS protocol care are both prominent developments and have each become global trends. However, the effects and learning curves of combining robotic surgery and ERAS care in colorectal resection have not yet been well validated. This study aimed to present our real-world experience and establish the learning curves necessary for the implementation of an ERAS program in minimally-invasive surgery for colorectal resection, while also evaluating the impact that the development of the robotic technique has on ERAS outcomes. Methods: A total of 155 patients who received elective, minimally-invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery for colorectal resection, with ERAS care during the period June 2019 to September 2021 were included in this retrospective analysis. Patients were divided chronologically into five groups (31 cases per quintile). Patient demographics, tumor characteristics, perioperative data, ERAS compliance, and surgical outcomes were all compared among the quintiles. Learning curves were evaluated based on ERAS compliance and optimal recovery, which are composed of an absence of major complications, postoperative length of stay (LOS) of no more than five days, and no readmission within 30 days. A multivariable logistic regression model was used to assess factors associated with postoperative LOS. Results: There were no statistically significant differences seen overall or between the quintile groups in regards to demographic and tumor characteristic parameters. A total of 79 patients (51%) received robotic surgery, with the ratio of robotic groups rising chronologically from zero in the first quintile to 90.3% in the fifth quintile (p < 0.001). The median compliance rate of total ERAS protocol was 83.3% overall, 72.2% in the first quintile and 83.3% in the 2nd–5th quintiles (p < 0.001). A total of 85 patients underwent optimal recovery after surgery, four patients in the first quintile, 11 patients in the second quintile, and 21, 24, 25 patients in the 3rd–5th quintiles respectively (p < 0.001). There were significant improvements from early to later groups upon postoperative LOS (p < 0.001). In addition, the surgical outcomes including first oral intake within 24 hours after surgery, time to first stool and early termination of intravenous fluid administration showed significant improvement among the quintiles. A multivariable logistic regression model demonstrated that robotic surgery was superior to laparoscopic surgery upon postoperative LOS (odds ratio = 5.029, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 1.321 to 19.142; p = 0.018). Conclusions: Our experience demonstrated that an effective implementation of the ERAS program in minimally-invasive colorectal surgery requires 31 patients to accomplish the higher compliance and requires more cases to reach the maturation phase for optimal recovery. We believe that developing a robotic platform would have no impact on the learning curve of ERAS implementation. Moreover, there is a beneficial effect on the postoperative length of surgery provided through the combination of ERAS care and robotic surgery for patients undergoing colorectal resection. The best management for acute basilar artery occlusion (BAO) has increasingly been clarified by recent randomized controlled trials (RCTs). We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of RCTs comparing endovascular therapy (EVT) vs best medical management (BMM). We searched PubMed, Embase, the CENTRAL, and ClinicalTrials.gov from January 1, 2000, to November 20, 2022. We included RCTs comparing EVT vs BMM in BAO or bilateral vertebral artery occlusion (VAO). Primary outcome was ambulation (modified Rankin Scale score [mRS] 0–3) at 90 days. Secondary outcomes were independence (mRS 0–2) at 90 days, death by 90 days, and symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH). Risk ratio (RR) with 95% CI was used as a measure of the association of EVT vs BMM with outcomes. Final analyses included 4 RCTs with 988 patients with BAO or VAO. Pooled results showed that EVT vs BMM was associated with an increased rate of 90-day ambulation (RR 1.54, 95% CI 1.16–2.05), independence (RR 1.83, 1.08–3.08) and a reduced risk of mortality (RR 0.76, 0.65–0.89), but an increased risk of sICH (RR 7.48, 2.27–24.62) and the benefits might be confined to patients with BAO but not patients with VAO. EVT effect was modified by occlusion location with the basilar artery, with greatest benefit for proximal, intermediate benefit for middle, and least benefit for distal occlusions.
