Abstract

[Bi 0.5 (Na l-x-y K x Li y ) 0.5 ]TiO 3 (BNKLT) lead-free piezoelectric ceramics invented in authors' group were used for making of two kinds of middle frequency ceramic filters. The BNKLT ceramics was fabricated into the single disc for middle frequency filter with the center frequency being about 530 kHz by using the skeletal vibration mode. The loss insertion is about 3 dB, and the bandwidth is about 8.8 kHz. It was obtained that the filter has sharp upper and lower cut off frequencies. The BNKLT ceramics was also fabricated into the multi-section ladder for pass-band filter with the center frequency about 460 kHz by using the full electrode radial vibration mode of the resonance samples. The band -pass filter also has sharp upper and lower cut off frequencies with the curve smooth, and the loss insertion less than 6 dB and the out-band attenuation more than 30 dB.

Abstract

New lead-free piezoelectric ceramics, [Bi0.5(Na1 - x - y - zKxLiyAgz)0.5]TiO3, were prepared by conventional sintering technique and their piezoelectric and dielectric properties were studied. X-ray diffraction reveals that all ceramics investigated have pure perovskite phase. The ceramics provides good piezoelectric properties: piezoelectric constant d33 = 215.5 pC/N, planar electromechanical coupling factor kP = 39.3% and thick electromechanical coupling factor kt = 50.6%, respectively. The dependence of dielectric properties on temperature indicates that a diffusing peak of dielectric constant occurs at about 200°C. This kind of ceramics may be used in practical devices. Abstract

A piezoelectric piezoelectric-metal-cavity (PMC) actuator was reported previously that can exhibit a large flexural displacement. In this paper, a lead-free piezoelectric ceramic was used as a driving element of the PMC actuator. Bi(0.5)(Na(0.725)K(0.175)Li(0.1))(0.5)TiO3 (abbreviated as BNKLT) is a soft-type piezoelectric ceramic with good piezoelectric properties at room temperature. Both the electrical and mechanical properties of the BNKLT PMC actuator were measured. With good piezoelectric coefficients and low density, the BNKLT ceramic has the potential to be used as the driving element of the lead-free actuator.
