Hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs) are known for their robust light–matter interaction and ability to generate volume plasmon polaritons (VPPs). Au nanoparticles (Au NPs) enable to enhance this interaction through localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), creating intense local electric fields. However, combining LSPR and VPPs in one device remains unexplored. This study proposes and demonstrates Au NP‐coupled‐HMMs (NPCHMMs), integrating Au NPs with HMMs to enhance random laser action and lower the lasing threshold. NPCHMMs boost emission intensity by ≈6 times compared to pure HMMs, with a ≈47% reduction in lasing threshold. Based on Fermi's golden rule, the calculated transition rate in NPCHMMs surpasses the algebraic sum of the individual transition rates derived from HMMs and Au NPs. It reveals the effect of the coherent coupling between the transition matrix elements of VPP and LSPR. This research indicates that NPCHMMs are a promising platform to create high‐performance optical and optoelectronic devices, such as lasers and phototransistors, for a wide range of application in many fields. Two new europium coordination compounds, [Eu2(papip)2(PhCOO)6] and [Eu2(phpip)2(PhCOO)6] (papip is 1-phenyl-2-(4-aminophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline and phpip 1-phenyl-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline), have been synthesized hydrothermally and structurally characterized, involving the in situ hydrolysis of phenylacetonitrile to phenylacetate. The –NH2 group in the former complex was unexpectedly generated from the –NO2 group of free 1-phenyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)imidazo[4,5-f][1,10]phenanthroline during the reaction process, representing the first such transformation in a hydrothermal reaction. Both complexes exhibit bright red photoemission typical of Eu(III) f–f transition under UV excitation, with long excited state lifetimes and quite high photoluminescence quantum yields. The genome-level features are crucial genetic resources for species identification and phylogenetic analysis. Here, the complete mitochondrial genome of Aphidius colemani Viereck 1912 (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) was sequenced, determined and analyzed. The circular genome is 16,372 bp in length with an overall base composition of 38.9% for A, 46.2% for T, 6.7% for C, and 8.2% for G. The mitochondrial genome of A. colemani contained 13 protein-coding genes that initiated by the ATN codon, 22 transfer RNA genes, two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs), and a control region (CR). It shared the same gene arrangement patterns that occurred in two tRNA clusters of trnI-trnQ-trnM and trnW-trnC-trnY with Aphidius gifuensis. Phylogenetic analyses using Bayesian inference and Maximum-likelihood methods supported that the two species of Aphidiinae formed a clade and sister to other subfamilies of Braconidae. The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility and safety of high intensity focused ultrasound's (HIFU) in pancreatic diseases. Twelve pigs were divided into three groups. The pancreases of pigs in Group A were ablated directly with HIFU, but those in Group B and C ablated by extracorporeal HIFU. The pigs in Group C were sacrificed at day 7 after HIFU. Serological parameters were determined pre-operation and post-operation. The entire pancreas was removed for histological examination. Each animal tolerate the HIFU ablation well. The complete necrosis was observed in targeted regions. The margins of the necrotic regions were clearly delineated from the surrounding normal tissues. Infiltration of inflammatory cells and phorocytosis on the boundary were found in group C. Blood and urine amylase levels were relatively steady after HIFU. No acute pancreatitis or severe complications occurred. In conclusion, HIFU ablation on the pancreas was safe and effective in experimental pigs.

This letter proposes a novel algorithm to obtain a sub-optimal solution for the balance of bit distribution after Huffman coding. The algorithm is simple, and can be embedded in the conventional Huffman coding process. In addition, the letter also discusses the bit-balance problem for reversible variable-length codes (RVLCs) based on Huffman coding. Analytical and experimental results suggest that the new algorithm is very useful in improving the 0/1 balance property for Huffman codes and RVLCs.
