Abstract

Perovskite solar cells (PSCs) represent one of the most promising emerging photovoltaic technologies due to their high power conversion efficiency. However, despite the huge progress made not only in terms of the efficiency achieved, but also fundamental understanding of the relevant physics of the devices and issues which affect their efficiency and stability, there are still unresolved problems and obstacles on the path toward commercialization of this promising technology. In this roadmap, we aim to provide a concise and up to date summary of outstanding issues and challenges, and the progress made toward addressing these issues. While the format of this article is not meant to be a comprehensive review of the topic, it provides a collection of the viewpoints of the experts in the field, which covers a broad range of topics related to PSC commercialization, including those relevant for manufacturing (scaling up, different types of devices), operation and stability (various factors), and environmental issues (in particular the use of lead). We hope that the article will provide a useful resource for researchers in the field and that it will facilitate discussions and move forward toward addressing the outstanding challenges in this fast-developing field.

8. Effects of periodic force on the stability of the metastable state in logistic system

Abstract

The effects of periodic force on the stability of the metastable state in logistic model are investigated. The expression of the mean first-passage time (MFPT) from the metastable state to the stable state is derived. Based on the expression, the effects of periodic force on the MFPT were analyzed. The results indicate that: (i) For the case of the multiplicative noise induced transition, the multiplicative noise and the periodic force weaken the stability of the metastable state; (ii) For the case of the additive noise induced transition, the stability of the metastable state is weakened by the additive noise when the periodic force takes value of the first half cycle, while the stability of the metastable state is enhanced by the additive noise when the periodic force takes value of the second half cycle; (iii) For the case of the correlation between the multiplicative and the additive noise induced transition, the correlation between the multiplicative and the additive noises and the periodic force weaken the stability of the metastable state.

Abstract

Thin film nanocomposite (TFN) membranes have drawn intensive attention for desalination. Herein, we investigate the effect of addition of different kinds of functionalized (Amine, Carboxylic acid, Hydrogen) nanodiamonds (NDs) and their dispersion enhanced by surfactants mediation on polypiperazineamide selective layer synthesized on polyamide membrane via Piperazine (PIP) and Trimesoyl chloride (TMC) interfacial polymerization (IP). The addition of functionalized NDs not only enhanced the surface roughness, hydrophilicity, and degree of crosslinking of selective layer but also enhanced the water flux and salt rejection performance of the membranes. The optimum NH 2 -ND 400 /PIP/TMC membrane enhanced the water flux by 14 % and MgSO 4 rejection by 2.4 % with respect to the conventional PIP/TMC membrane. To further enhance the performance, different chain length surfactants such as Sodium Octyl Sulfate (SOS) and Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate (SDS) were added to the aqueous phase of IP system. The optimum SDS 1 /NH 2 -ND 400 /PIP/TMC membrane showed improved flux and MgSO 4 rejection of 8.87 Lm−2h−1b−1 and 98.68 %. It was further investigated for long term stability performance, which resulted in maximum flux and salt rejection of 15 Lm−2h−1b−1 and 99.57 % respectively, leading to increase of water flux by 87.5 % and MgSO 4 rejection by 0.5 % with respect to the conventional PIP/TMC membrane. Overall, the highlight was that the SDS addition improved the membrane performance with well retained stability, indicating that the SDS has significantly improved the degree of crosslinking of selective layer via improved dispersion of PIP and NH 2 -NDs in aqueous phase during IP, making it mechanically more stable, hydrophilic and effective for MgSO 4 rejection as compared to the conventional PIP/TMC membrane. The SDS 1 /NH 2 -ND 400 /PIP/TMC membranes show great potential to be used in nanofiltration. Synergistic effect of functionalized nanodiamonds and surfactants mediation in IP, improves cross-linking density, surface charge and pore uniformity of the selective layer resulting in the high performance TFC-NF membrane for desalination. Abstract

Intracellular calcium oscillation with time delay and correlated noises was investigated in this paper by means of stochastic simulation. The time evolution and stationary probability distribution (SPD) of Ca2+ concentration in the cytosol and in an IP3-insensitive pool were calculated. The results indicate that: (i) the intracellular calcium oscillation is suppressed with increasing the delay time τ but is enhanced with increasing the external noise intensity D; (ii) the structure of the SPD exhibits a transition from a single peak to double peaks and the biggest peak shrinks as the external noise intensity D increases; (iii) the structure of the SPD exhibits a transition from double peaks to a single peak and the biggest peak grows as the delay time τ increases.

Abstract

Abstract: Tetraspanin CD151 mainly associates with laminin-binding integrins and forms CD151–integrin complex. We previously reported that CD151 could be a potential target for angiogenesis, but the mechanisms involved are still unclear. This study investigated the role of CD151–integrin complex in angiogenesis and the signaling mechanisms involved. Here we showed that CD151 and CD151-AAA mutant were both well expressed at the protein level. CD151 gene transfer promoted angiogenesis and improved skin temperature of the lateral ischemic hindlimb, whereas CD151-AAA mutant abrogated the increase in capillary density and skin temperature. Further, CD151-AAA mutant failed to activate the FAK, ERK, PI3K/Akt/eNOS, and Rac1/Cdc42 signaling pathways. Moreover, CD151-AAA mutant was unavailable to promote bovine aortic endothelial cells (BAECs) proliferation and migration, in contrast to the effects of CD151. The results suggested that formation of CD151–integrin complex was likely to be a prerequisite for CD151-induced angiogenesis and signaling pathways. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
