The Cognitive Avoidance Questionnaire (CAQ) is a self-reported measure relating to multidimensional cognitive avoidance. Prior research has supported its correlated five-factor model, however, the tenability of a bifactor model and its measurement invariance have not been examined. With a Chinese adolescent sample (N = 734), a bifactor model of the CAQ, comprising a general cognitive avoidance and five orthogonal urge-related domain-specific factors, was supported. Multiple-group confirmatory factor analysis showed strict measurement invariance (including configural, metric, scalar, and error invariances) across genders but only configural invariance across grades. Predominately the general factor was positively correlated with worry, depression, anxiety, and stress. This study explored the relationship between classroom environment and perceived sleep disturbance in adolescents and tested the mediating and moderating roles of perfectionism in this relationship. A sample group of 2286 Chinese adolescents with a mean age of 15.0 years (SD = 1.7, ranging from 11 to 18) was recruited from 48 classes, via cluster sampling. These students completed the 'My Class' questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and Almost Perfectionism Scale-Revised (APS-R). Their responses were analyzed by employing a structural equation model (SEM). The results show that the classroom environment was negatively associated with perceived sleep disturbance. Also, the relationship between classroom environment and perceived sleep quality was mediated by adaptive perfectionism. Dispositional awe is a self-transcendent experience that has been investigated in few empirical studies. We explored the mediating effects of both self-transcendent meaning in life and spiritual self-transcendence in the relationship between dispositional awe and prosocial tendency. Participants were 1,907 Chinese undergraduates. As predicted, self-transcendent meaning in life and spiritual self-transcendence mediated the relationship between dispositional awe and prosocial behavior. These findings not only demonstrate the mediating effect of self-transcendence on prosocial tendency, but also support dispositional awe as an element of self-transcendence. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study explores the mediating effects of repetitive negative thinking in the relationship between perfectionism and adolescent sleep quality. A sample of 1664 Chinese adolescents with a mean age of 15.0 years was recruited, and they completed four measures relating to perfectionism, sleep quality, worry, and rumination. The results showed that maladaptive perfectionism was positively correlated with poor sleep quality in adolescents, which was mediated by both worry and rumination. However, adaptive perfectionism was not significantly associated with adolescent sleep quality, and this relationship was suppressed by rumination (but not worry).
