Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common clinical complication characterized by a sudden deterioration of the kidney's excretory function, which normally occurs secondary to another serious illness. AKI is an important risk factor for chronic kidney disease (CKD) occurrence and progression to kidney failure. It is, therefore, crucial to block the development of AKI as early as possible. To date, existing animal studies have shown that senescence occurs in the early stage of AKI and is extremely critical to prognosis. Cellular senescence is an irreversible process of cell cycle arrest that is accompanied by alterations at the transcriptional, metabolic, and secretory levels along with modified cellular morphology and chromatin organization. Acute cellular senescence tends to play an active role, whereas chronic senescence plays a dominant role in the progression of AKI to CKD. The occurrence of chronic senescence is inseparable from senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) and senescence-related pathways. SASP acts on normal cells to amplify the senescence signal through senescence-related pathways. Senescence can be improved by initiating reprogramming, which plays a crucial role in blocking the progression of AKI to CKD. The increase in the level of neutrophils following subclinical Cushing’s disease is an uncommon clinical phenomenon that is characterized by insignificant biochemical or clinical evidence of hypercortisolism. In this study, we reported a 37-year-old female patient who presented with palpitations and fatigue, and showed increased neutrophils that were unaffected by anti-infection therapy. The patient was suspected of having a urinary tract infection because of occasionally with urinary frequency, urgency, increased procalcitonin, leukocytosis, and an increased proportion of neutrophils. The ineffectiveness of anti-infection therapy ruled out the possibility of urinary tract infection. Further examination of the bone marrow excluded the possibility of blood disease. However, the levels of blood cortisol and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) increased, and a magnetic resonance imaging examination revealed lesions in the sphenoidal sinus and sella area of the sphenoidal bone, which confirmed the relationship between increased glucocorticoids and increased neutrophils. This was further confirmed by follow-up surgery and pathological examination, which revealed silent corticotropin adenomas, which are characterized by the lack of biochemical or clinical evidence of hypercortisolism with positive immunostaining for ACTH.

Venous malformation is a common congenital anomaly of vascular development, and endovascular sclerotherapy is currently the first-line treatment for it. Accurate puncture of the lesion is the key to endovascular treatment. Any deviation is likely to result in local ulcers, necrosis and other complications. We described one case, in which a newly developed real-time MRI navigation technology was introduced and sclerotherapy was successfully performed for deep lesions that were difficult to reach by conventional methods. This article reviewed the treatment process of this case, in order to provide guidance and help for venous malformations and other soft tissue diseases in the future.

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the potential impact of port wine stains on the development of permanent teeth in mixed dentition and provide insights for managing tooth abnormalities in patients with port wine stains. Materials and Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 21 patients with mixed dentition and unilateral maxillary port wine stains. Two researchers concurrently utilized Nolla Analysis to assess the developmental stage of bilateral maxillary and permanent mandibular teeth based on panoramic radiographs. The cumulative developmental values of upper and lower permanent teeth on both sides were calculated, and a comparison was made between the developmental stages of the upper and lower jaws. Results: Port wine stains can influence the maturity of permanent upper teeth, within the unilateral maxillary port wine stains range, with an early developmental completion observed on the affected side compared to the unaffected side. While the developmental stages of the lower teeth on both sides showed similarities. Conclusions: Port wine stains can accelerate the maturity of teeth on the affected side, leading to alterations in the order of tooth eruption and subsequent abnormal occlusion in children with mixed dentition. These findings provide a basis for developing appropriate management strategies for addressing tooth abnormalities in patients with port wine stains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
