Abstract

The complex optical properties of the iron-chalcogenide superconductor FeTe0.55Se0.45 with Tc=14K have been examined over a wide frequency range for light polarized in the Fe-Te(Se) planes above and below Tc. At room temperature the optical response may be described by a weakly-interacting Fermi liquid; however, just above Tc this picture breaks down and the scattering rate takes on a linear frequency dependence. Below Tc there is evidence for two gap features in the optical conductivity at Delta_1 ~ 2.5 meV and Delta_2 ~ 5.1 meV. Less than 20% of the free carriers collapse into the condensate for T << Tc, and this material is observed to fall on the universal scaling line for a BCS dirty-limit superconductor in the weak-coupling limit., Comment: 6 pages, 6 figures; accepted J. Abstract

Inelastic neutron scattering and susceptibility measurements have been performed on the optimally-doped Fe-based superconductor FeTe(0.5)Se(0.5), which has a critical temperature, Tc of 14 K. The magnetic scattering at the stripe antiferromagnetic wave-vector Q = (0.5,0.5) exhibits a "resonance" at ~ 6 meV, where the scattering intensity increases abruptly when cooled below Tc. In a 7-T magnetic field parallel to the a-b plane, Tc is slightly reduced to ~ 12 K, based on susceptibility measurements. The resonance in the neutron scattering measurements is also affected by the field. The resonance intensity under field cooling starts to rise at a lower temperature ~ 12 K, and the low temperature intensity is also reduced from the zero-field value. Our results provide clear evidence for the intimate relationship between superconductivity and the resonance measured in magnetic excitations of Fe-based superconductors., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

We performed elastic neutron scattering and magnetization measurements on Fe(1.07)Te(0.75)Se(0.25) and FeTe(0.7)Se(0.3). Short-range incommensurate magnetic order is observed in both samples. In the former sample with higher Fe content, a broad magnetic peak appears around (0.46,0,0.5) at low temperature, while in FeTe(0.7)Se(0.3) the broad magnetic peak is found to be closer to the antiferromagnetic (AFM) wave-vector (0.5,0,0.5). The incommensurate peaks are only observed on one side of the AFM wave-vector for both samples, which can be modeled in terms of an imbalance of ferromagnetic/antiferromagnetic correlations between nearest-neighbor spins. We also find that with higher Se (and lower Fe) concentration, the magnetic order becomes weaker while the superconducting temperature and volume increase., Comment: Version as appeared in PRB

Abstract

The high voltage electric contact Cu/WCp particles reinforced composite material was prepared by powder metallurgy hot pressing sintering method.The effect of WCp particle contents (15% and 3%,volume fraction,the same as below) on the fatigue crack growth behavior of Cu/WCp composite was studied and the fracture surface was analyzed by SEM.The observation of the fatigue crack initiation and the influence mechanism of particle on fatigue crack growth was carried out by in-situ scanning electron microscopy (SEM).Results show that the fatigue crack growth rate of Cu/WCp/15p composites is faster than that of Cu/WCp/3p composites at the same stress intensity factor range (ΔK);with the increase of WCp content,the threshold stress intensity factor range ΔKth is not enhanced because the interface of the particles and the matrix are weak.From the results of in-situ SEM observation fatigue crack growth can be seen that the crack source is formed due to the particle debonding during fatigue process,different debonding microcracks connect and grow to form main cracks is the fatigue damage mode of Cu/WCp particle reinforced composites.When the main crack tips encounter WCp particles,cracks propagate forward along the particle interface.The fractographies show that the fracture mode of the composites is from particle debonding-transgranular fracture in matrix at the low content 3% to particle debonding-tear in matrix at the high content 15%.

Abstract

With the flourishing development of artificial intelligence, lasing with tailored features generated by photonic crystal (PhC) lasers has been playing a more important part in the optics field and in potential applications of self‐control, light detection and ranging, telecommunications, and holography imaging. As an information vehicle, the optical beam's maneuverability is influenced by the working wavelength, direction, and efficiency of the laser. Liquid crystal (LC)‐based mirrorless lasers are widely investigated in manipulating the tuning of emission wavelength. Realizing fast self‐steering of the laser beam to tune the emission direction is challenging because of the limitation on the complex and expensive inorganic fabrication and circuit design. In this work, a self‐steered lasing from a defect‐mode sandwich film composed of photomechanical deformable azobenzene cholesteric LC elastomer (CLCE) PhC layers and an isotropic gain interlayer is demonstrated. On the basis of the great light‐deformability of the CLCE, the output single‐mode lasing emission of the sandwich‐film laser can be steered quickly by UV irradiation in a wide angular tuning range of ≈±57°. This flexible, portable, and durable laser system with controllable beam‐steering and mechanical robustness is envisioned to open a gate for autonomous vehicles, self‐sustaining machines, and optical devices with the core feature of photomechanical conversion. Abstract

Immune cells have an uncertain function during the progression of extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL). The present study determined the distribution, phenotype, and clinical significance of B lymphocytes in ENKTL. Immunohistochemistry indicated high infiltration of CD20+ B lymphocytes in the tumour tissues of 40% of the patients, and that a high infiltration correlated with better overall survival. Moreover, B lymphocytes had an active mature phenotype in situ and suppressed the proliferation of ENKTL cells in vitro. These results suggest that tumour infiltration of CD20+ B lymphocytes may be a new prognostic indicator for patients with ENKTL.
