However, few studies were on the readiness for discharge and its related factors among mothers with cesarean sections. Thus, this study aims to examine the readiness for hospital discharge and its associated factors among Chinese mothers with cesarean sections.Patients and Methods: A single-centre cross-sectional study was conducted from September 2020 to March 2021 in Guangzhou, China. Three hundred thirty-nine mothers with cesarean sections completed the questionnaires on demographic and obstetric characteristics, readiness for hospital discharge, quality for discharge teaching, parenting sense of competence, family function, and social support. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify independent factors influencing readiness for hospital discharge among mothers with cesarean sections.Results: The total score of readiness for hospital discharge was 136.47 ± 25.29. Color centers in silicon carbide (SiC) offer exciting possibilities for quantum information processing. However, the challenge of ionization during optical manipulation leads to charge variations, hampering the efficacy of spin-photon interfaces. Recent research predicted that modified divacancy color centers can stabilize their charge states, resisting photoionization. This study presents a method for precisely creating single divacancy arrays in 4H-SiC using a focused helium ion beam. Photoluminescence tests reveal consistent emission with minimal linewidth fluctuations (∼50 MHz over 3 h). By measuring the ionization rate for different polytypes of divacancies, we found that the modified divacancies are more robust against resonant excitation. Furthermore, angle-resolved photoluminescence excitation spectra unveil two resonant-transition lines with orthogonal polarizations. Enhanced optical and spin characteristics were notably observed in these color centers compared to those generated through carbon-ion and shallow implantation methods, positioning modified divacancies as promising contenders for advancing quantum networking., Competing Interests: Competing interests: The authors declare no competing interests., (© 2024. People with hearing impairments often face increased risks related to traffic accidents due to their reduced ability to perceive surrounding sounds. Given the cost and usage limitations of traditional hearing aids and cochlear implants, this study aims to develop a sound alert assistance system (SAAS) to enhance situational awareness and improve travel safety for people with hearing impairments. We proposed the VAS-Compass Net (Vehicle Alert Sound-Compass Net), which integrates three lightweight convolutional neural networks: EfficientNet-lite0, MobileNetV3-Small, and GhostNet. Through employing a fuzzy ranking ensemble technique, our proposed model can identify different categories of vehicle alert sounds and directions of sound sources on an edge computing device. The experimental dataset consisted of images derived from the sounds of approaching police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and car horns from various directions. The audio signals were converted into spectrogram images and Mel-frequency cepstral coefficient images, and they were fused into a complete image using image stitching techniques. We successfully deployed our proposed model on a Raspberry Pi 5 microcomputer, paired with a customized smartwatch to realize an SAAS. Our experimental results demonstrated that VAS-Compass Net achieved an accuracy of 84.38% based on server-based computing and an accuracy of 83.01% based on edge computing. Our proposed SAAS has the potential to significantly enhance the situational awareness, alertness, and safety of people with hearing impairments on the road.

The water-soluble tribenzotriquinacene-based hexacarboxylic acid ammonium salt, TBTQ-C 6 , acts as the host component ( H ) forming host-guest complexes with tetraphenylethylene (TPE)-functionalized monotopic and tetratopic quaternary ammonium derivatives, G1 and G2 , to yield supra-amphiphiles. These supra-amphiphiles self-assemble to form pH-responsive fluorescent vesicles, which have allowed us to capitalize on the aggregation-induced emission (AIE) effect for imaging-guided drug delivery systems. These systems exhibit efficient drug loading and pH-responsive delivery capabilities. Upon encapsulation of the anticancer drug doxorubicin (DOX), both the TPE and DOX chromophores undergo dual-fluorescence deactivation due to the energy transfer relay (ETR) effect. Under acidic conditions, the release of DOX interrupts the ETR effect, resulting in the fluorescence recovery of TPE fluorogens and DOX, allowing for real-time visual monitoring of the drug release process. Cytotoxicity experiments confirmed the low toxicity of the unloaded vectors to normal cells, while the DOX-loaded vectors were found to significantly enhance the anticancer activity of DOX against cancer cells in vitro . Professor Takeyori Saheki's team at Kagoshima University, Japan, published a paper in Nature Genetics in June 1999, pinpointing the pathogenic gene for adult-onset type Ⅱ citrullinemia as SLC25A13 and naming the protein product encoded by this gene as citrin. Over the past 25 years, the researches have made positive progress on the pathophysiological mechanism, clinical phenotype, molecular diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of citrin deficiency (CD) as an autosomal recessive genetic disease. Currently, three age-dependent clinical phenotypes of CD have been found, namely neonatal intrahepatic cholestasis caused by citrin deficiency, failure to thrive and dyslipidemia caused by citrin deficiency, and adult-onset type Ⅱ citrullinemia. Although relevant internal medicine drugs are being researched and developed while liver transplantation has been used for the treatment of CD patients, scientific dietary therapy remains the foundation, core, and key for the management of this disease. Furthermore, CD management involves the full life cycle of patients, requiring the joint efforts of basic and clinical medicine as well as systematic articulation at multi-levels, such as the parents, family, and society. By full-cycle, multidisciplinary, and systematic management, it is an achievable goal for CD patients to learn, work, and live in a healthy manner.

The insufficient availability and activity of interfacial water remain a major challenge for alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). Here, we propose an "on-site disruption and near-site compensation" strategy to reform the interfacial water hydrogen bonding network via deliberate cation penetration and catalyst support engineering. This concept is validated using tip-like bimetallic RuNi nanoalloys planted on super-hydrophilic and high-curvature carbon nanocages (RuNi/NC). Theoretical simulations suggest that tip-induced localized concentration of hydrated K + facilitates optimization of interfacial water dynamics and intermediate adsorption. In situ synchrotron X-ray spectroscopy endorses an H* spillover-bridged Volmer‒Tafel mechanism synergistically relayed between Ru and Ni. Consequently, RuNi/NC exhibits low overpotential of 12 mV and high durability of 1600 h at 10 mA cm ‒2 for alkaline HER, and demonstrates high performance in both water electrolysis and chlor-alkali electrolysis. To promote the growth of Casuarina equisetifolia and address the abnormalities in the structure and function of rhizosphere soil microbial community, we isolated eight strains with multiple functions from the root nodules of C. equisetifolia , including nitrogen fixation (N), production of cell wall-degrading enzymes (protease and cellulase), auxin (IAA) production, siderophore production, ammonia (NH 3 ) production, and phosphate solubilization. Among these strains, LB08, LB18, LB19, LB42, LB46, LB63, and LB69 were identified as Paenibacillus species, while LQ10 was identified as a Brucella sp. Results of seed soaking experiments showed that all the eight strains promoted the growth of C. equisetifolia seedlings. Strain LB69 significantly increased the germination rate and seedling vigor by 19.7% and 28.3%, respectively. Strain LQ10 significantly enhanced root length and root vigor by 48.2% and 334.4%, respectively. Strains LB18 and LB42 had the strongest effects on early shoot length and biomass accumulation, with increases of 22.4% and 32.8%, respectively. After seed soaking, the number of isozymes bands of polyphenol oxidase, superoxide dismutase, and peroxidase increased, with some bands showing enhanced intensity and increased diversity of enzyme isoforms, thereby enhancing stress resistance. In summary, the addition of these eight strains promoted plant growth and antioxidant enzyme activity, indicating their potential role as biofertilizers.

Background: The efficacy of Vonoprazan-amoxicillin dual therapy (VAT) in the treatment of Helicobacter pylori ( H. pylori ) is controversial., Aim: To evaluate the efficacy of VAT in the Chinese population., Methods: This prospective, multicenter, randomized, open-label, and two-stage study was conducted at 23 centers in Fujian, China (May 2021-April 2022). H. pylori -infected patients were randomized to bismuth quadruple therapy (BQT), BQT-Vonoprazan (BQT-V), seven-day VAT (VAT-7), ten-day VAT (VAT-10), and fourteen-day VAT (VAT-14) groups. The primary endpoint was the H. pylori eradication rate. The secondary endpoint was the frequency of adverse events. This study was registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR2100045778., Results: In the first stage, VAT-7 and BQT-V groups were selected for early termination because less than 23 among 28 cases were eradicated. In the second stage, the eradication rates for BQT, VAT-10, and VA-14 were 80.2% [95% confidence interval (95%CI): 71.4%-86.8%], 93.2% (86.6%-96.7%), 92.2% (85.3%-96.0%) in the intention-to-treat (ITT) analysis, and 80.9% (95%CI: 71.7%-87.5%), 94.0% (87.5%-97.2%), and 93.9% (87.4%-97.2%) in the per-protocol analysis. The ITT analysis showed a higher eradication rate in the VAT-10 and VAT-14 groups than in the BQT group ( P = 0.022 and P = 0.046, respectively). Introduction: Metastasis is responsible for 90% of cancer-related deaths worldwide. However, the potential inhibitory effects of metastasis by various anticancer drugs have been left largely unexplored. Existing preclinical models primarily focus on antiproliferative agents on the primary tumor to halt the cancer growth but not in metastasis. Unlike primary tumors, metastasis requires cancer cells to exert sufficient cellular traction force through the actomyosin machinery to migrate away from the primary tumor site. Therefore, we seek to explore the potential of cellular traction force as a novel readout for screening drugs that target cancer metastasis., Methods: In vitro models of invasive and non-invasive breast cancer were first established using MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cell lines, respectively. Cellular morphology was characterized, revealing spindle-like morphology in MDA-MB-231 and spherical morphology in MCF-7 cells. The baseline cellular traction force was quantified using the Traction force Microscopy technique. Cisplatin, a paradigm antimetastatic drug, and 5-Fluorouracil (5FU), a non-antimetastatic drug, were selected to evaluate the potential of cellular traction force as a drug testing readout for the in vitro cancer metastasis., Results: MDA-MB-231 cells exhibited significantly higher baseline cellular traction force compared to MCF-7 cells. Treatment with Cisplatin, an antimetastatic drug, and 5-Fluorouracil (5FU), a non-antimetastatic drug, demonstrated distinct effects on cellular traction force in MDA-MB-231 but not in MCF-7 cells. These findings correlate with the invasive potential observed in the two models., Conclusion: Cellular traction force emerges as a promising metric for evaluating drug efficacy in inhibiting cancer metastasis using in vitro models. Understanding the nucleation and growth mechanism of 3d transition bimetallic nanocrystals (NCs) is crucial to developing NCs with tailored nanostructures and properties. However, it remains a significant challenge due to the complexity of 3d bimetallic NCs formation and their sensitivity to oxygen. Here, by combining in situ electron microscopy and synchrotron X-ray techniques, we elucidate the nucleation and growth pathways of Fe-Ni NCs. Interestingly, the formation of Fe-Ni NCs emerges from the assimilation of Fe into Ni clusters together with the reduction of Fe-Ni oxides. Subsequently, these NCs undergo solid-state phase transitions, resulting in two distinct solid solutions, ultimately dominated by γ-Fe 3 Ni 2 . Furthermore, we deconvolve the interplays between local coordination and electronic state concerning the growth temperature. We directly visualize the oxidation-state distributions of Fe and Ni at the nanoscale and investigate their changes. This work may reshape and enhance the understanding of nucleation and growth in atomic crystallization.

The proportion and area of ratoon rice planting in China have been substantially increased, due to continuous improvement of rice breeding methods and consecutive innovation of cultivation technology, which has developed into one of rice planting modes with significant production efficiency. Combining the experience in research and practice, from the perspective of crop physiology and ecology, we reviewed the current situation and prospects of high-yielding formation and physiological mechanisms of ratoon rice. We focused on four key aspects: screening and breeding of ratoon rice cultivars and the classification; suitable stubble height for mechanically harvested ratoon rice, as well as water and fertilizer management; dry matter production and allocation in ratoon rice and the relationship with yield formation; regenerative activity and vigor of ratoon rice roots and their relationship with rhizosphere micro-ecological characteristics. As for the extending of mechanized low-cut stubbles ratoon rice technique, we should properly regulate the rhizosphere system, coordinate rhizosphere nutrient supply, germination of axillary buds, and tillering regeneration, to achieve the target of "four-high-one-low", that is high regeneration coefficient, high number of regeneration panicle, high harvest index, high yield, high quality, low-carbon and safe, aiming to improve the sustainability of ratoon rice industry.

To investigate the quality differences between the seeds and husks of Amomum villosum and explore the rationality of using the seeds without husks, this study determined the content of protocatechuic acid, vanillic acid, epicatechin, quercitrin, volatile oil, water extract, and ethanol extract. The 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl(DPPH), 2,2-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid)(ABTS), and hydroxyl radical scavenging activities were determined to evaluate the antioxidant activities of seeds and husks. The quality differences between the seeds and husks were assessed through orthogonal partial least squares-discriminant analysis(OPLS-DA) and analytic hierarchy process(AHP) combined with the entropy weight method(EWM). Significant differences(P&lt;0.05) were observed in all 10 indicators between the seeds and husks. The levels of epicatechin, quercetin, and volatile oil were higher in the seeds, whereas those of protocatechuic acid, vanillic acid, water extract, and ethanol extract were higher in the husks. The seeds showed stronger scavenging ability against DPPH and ABTS radicals, while the husks showed a stronger scavenging effect on hydroxyl radicals. OPLS-DA significantly discriminated between the seeds and husks. Furthermore, volatile oil, water extract, DPPH radical scavenging rate, quercitrin, ABTS radical scavenging rate, hydroxyl radical scavenging rate, and vanillic acid were selected as the main differential indicators by variable importance in projection(VIP). Comprehensive scores calculated by AHP combined with EWM indicated that the seeds were superior to husks in terms of overall quality. However, there are still some dominant components and a certain antioxidant effect in the husks. Therefore, it is suggested to using Amomi Fructus with a certain amount of husks or utilizing the husks for other purposes.

This paper summarizes recent studies identifying key qubit systems in silicon carbide (SiC) for quantum sensing of magnetic, electric fields, and temperature at the nano and microscale. The properties of colour centres in SiC, that can be used for quantum sensing, are reviewed with a focus on paramagnetic colour centres and their spin Hamiltonians describing Zeeman splitting, Stark effect, and hyperfine interactions. These properties are then mapped onto various methods for their initialization, control, and read-out. We then summarised methods used for a spin and charge state control in various colour centres in SiC. These properties and methods are then described in the context of quantum sensing applications in magnetometry, thermometry, and electrometry. Current state-of-the art sensitivities are compiled and approaches to enhance the sensitivity are proposed. Optically addressable spin defects in silicon carbide (SiC) have emerged as attractable platforms for various quantum technologies. However, the low photon count rate significantly limits their applications. We strongly enhanced the brightness by 7 times and spin-control strength by 14 times of single divacancy defects in 4H-SiC membranes using a surface plasmon generated by gold film coplanar waveguides. The mechanism of the plasmonic-enhanced effect is further studied by tuning the distance between single defects and the surface of the gold film. A three-energy-level model is used to determine the corresponding transition rates consistent with the enhanced brightness of single defects. Lifetime measurements also verified the coupling between defects and surface plasmons. Our scheme is low-cost, without complicated microfabrication and delicate structures, which is applicable for other spin defects in different materials. This work would promote developing spin-defect-based quantum applications in mature SiC materials.

We synthesized a new tetraphenylethylene-modified chitosan bioconjugate, CS-TPE , that shows the aggregation-induced emission effect. It can self-assemble into fluorescent polymeric nanoparticles in an aqueous solution at pH 5.3 either alone or with the water-soluble bowl-shaped six-fold carboxylated tribenzotriquinacene derivative TBTQ-C 6 via host-guest binding. The spherical nanoparticles formed by CS-TPE amphiphiles or TBTQ-C 6 /CS-TPE supra-amphiphiles disintegrated under alkaline stimulation at pH 10.4 and the dispersion of the aggregates after the collapse in the presence of TBTQ-C 6 was greatly improved. In addition, the fluorescence of CS-TPE was significantly enhanced by introducing TBTQ-C 6 , and remained relatively stable with variations in pH for both CS-TPE and TBTQ-C 6 / CS-TPE . Such pH-responsive supramolecular spherical nanoparticles with stable fluorescence emission based on CS-TPE or TBTQ-C 6 /CS-TPE may find applications in various fields, including the development of visual oral drug delivery systems., (Copyright © 2023, Yang et al.)

Pressure-induced magnetic phase transitions are attracting interest as a means to detect superconducting behaviour at high pressures in diamond anvil cells, but determining the local magnetic properties of samples is a challenge due to the small volumes of sample chambers. Optically detected magnetic resonance of nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond has recently been used for the in situ detection of pressure-induced phase transitions. However, owing to their four orientation axes and temperature-dependent zero-field splitting, interpreting these optically detected magnetic resonance spectra remains challenging. Here we study the optical and spin properties of implanted silicon vacancy defects in 4H-silicon carbide that exhibit single-axis and temperature-independent zero-field splitting. Using this technique, we observe the magnetic phase transition of Nd 2 Fe 14 B at about 7 GPa and map the critical temperature-pressure phase diagram of the superconductor YBa 2 Cu 3 O 6.6 . Organotrifluoroborates have gained acceptance as radioprosthetic groups for radiofluorination. Of these, the zwitterionic prosthetic group "AMBF 3 " with a quaternary dimethylammonium ion dominates the trifluoroborate space. Herein, we report on imidazolium-methylene trifluoroborate (ImMBF 3 ) as an alternative radioprosthetic group and report on its properties in the context of a PSMA-targeting EUK ligand that was previously been conjugated to AMBF 3 . The ImMBF 3 is readily synthesized from imidazole and conjugated via CuAAC "click" chemistry to give a structure similar to PSMA-617. 18 F-labeling proceeded in one step per our previous reports and imaged in LNCaP-xenograft bearing mice. The [ 18 F]-PSMA-617-ImMBF 3 tracer proved to be less polar (LogP 7.4  = -2.95 ± 0.03) while showing a significantly lower solvolytic rate (t 1/2  = 8100 min) and slightly higher molar activity (Am) at 174 ± 38 GBq/μmol. Tumor uptake was measured at 13.7 ± 4.8%ID/g and a tumor:muscle ratio of 74.2 ± 35.0, tumor:blood ratio of 21.4 ± 7.0, tumor:kidney ratio of 0.29 ± 0.14, and tumor:bone ratio of 23.5 ± 9.5. In comparison with previously reported PSMA-targeting EUK-AMBF 3 conjugates, we have altered the LogP 7.4 value, tuned the solvolytic half-life of the prosthetic, and increased radiochemical conversion while achieving similar tumor uptake, contrast ratios, and molar activities compared with AMBF 3 bioconjugates., (© 2023 The Authors. Background: This randomized clinical trial determined the effects of electroencephalographic burst suppression on cerebral oxygen metabolism and postoperative cognitive function in elderly surgical patients., Methods: The patients were placed into burst suppression (BS) and non-burst suppression (NBS) groups. All patients were under bispectral index monitoring of an etomidate target-controlled infusion for anesthesia induction and intraoperative combination sevoflurane and remifentanil for anesthesia maintenance. The cerebral oxygen extraction ratio (CERO2), jugular bulb venous saturation (SjvO2), and difference in arteriovenous oxygen (Da-jvO2) were measured at T0, T1, and T2. One day before surgery, and 1, 3, and 7 days after surgery, postoperative cognitive dysfunction was assessed using the mini-mental state examination (MMSE)., Results: Compared with T0, the Da-jvO2 and CERO2 values were decreased, and SjvO2 was increased in the 2 groups at T1 and T2 (P < .05). There was no statistical difference in the SjvO2, Da-jvO2, and CERO2 values between T1 and T2. Compared with the NBS group, the SjvO2 value increased, and the Da-jvO2 and CERO2 values decreased at T1 and T2 in the BS group (P < .05). The MMSE scores on the 1st and 3rd days postoperatively were significantly lower in the 2 groups compared to the preoperative MMSE scores (P < .05). In recent years, spin defects in silicon carbide have become promising platforms for quantum sensing, quantum information processing and quantum networks. It has been shown that their spin coherence times can be dramatically extended with an external axial magnetic field. However, little is known about the effect of magnetic-angle-dependent coherence time, which is an essential complement to defect spin properties. Here, we investigate the optically detected magnetic resonance (ODMR) spectra of divacancy spins in silicon carbide with a magnetic field orientation. The ODMR contrast decreases as the off-axis magnetic field strength increases. We then study the coherence times of divacancy spins in two different samples with magnetic field angles, and both of the coherence times decrease with the angle. The experiments pave the way for all-optical magnetic field sensing and quantum information processing.

Background: Cancer-related fatigue is a widely prevalent global public health concern with serious consequences. Increasing evidence suggests the effectiveness of exercise intervention in treating cancer-related fatigue, but there is a lack of a summary of relevant literature on the same to help reach a clear consensus., Objective: To summarize evidence regarding the efficacy of exercise interventions to reduce cancer fatigue, as determined in systematic reviews (SRs) and/or meta-analyses (MAs)., Method: From inception to September 2022, PubMed (1948-2022), Embase (1974-2022), Cochrane Library (1993-2022), CINAHL (1937-2022), Web of Science (1997-2022), China Knowledge Resource Integrated Database (1999-2022), Wanfang Database (1993-2022), and Chinese Biomedical Database (1994-2022) were searched for inclusion to the study. Two reviewers independently extracted the data from the included articles. In addition, some studies have reported adverse events during the exercise intervention period. The quality of the included systematic review was found to be low or critically low., Conclusions: The present systematic review of systematic reviews supports exercise intervention for reducing cancer-related fatigue. Cistanche tubulosa (Schenk) R. Wight is a valuable herbal medicine in China. The study aimed to explore the potential mechanisms of C. tubulosa on antioxidant activity using spectrum-effect relationship and network pharmacology and the possibilities of utilizing herbal dregs. In this work, different extracts of C. tubulosa , including herbal materials, water extracts, and herbal residues, were evaluated using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) technology. In addition, the antioxidant activities were estimated in vitro , including 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl; superoxide anion; and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays. The spectrum-effect relationships between the HPLC fingerprints and the biological capabilities were analyzed via partial least squares regression, bivariate correlation analysis, and redundancy analysis. Furthermore, network pharmacology was used to predict potential mechanisms of C. tubulosa in the treatment of antioxidant-related diseases. According to the results, eleven common peaks were shared by different extracts. Geniposidic acid, echinacoside, verbascoside, tubuloside A, and isoacteoside were quantified and compared among different forms of C. tubulosa . The spectrum-effect relationship study indicated that peak A 6 might be the most decisive component among the three forms. Based on network pharmacology, there were 159 target genes shared by active components and antioxidant-related diseases. Targets related to antioxidant activity and relevant pathways were discussed. Sperm cryopreservation is an effective fertility preservation method for cancer patients before anticancer treatments. However, there are little data on fertility preservation in large cohorts of patients with cancer in southern China. This retrospective cross-sectional study aimed to assess the fertility preservation status of 1034 newly diagnosed male patients with cancer in the Human Sperm Bank of Guangdong Province in southern China (Guangzhou, China). Of these, 302 patients had reproductive system tumors, mostly testicular cancers (99.0%), and 732 had other tumors, including lymphoma (33.1%), gastrointestinal cancer (16.3%), nasopharyngeal carcinoma (15.7%), leukemia (7.7%), sarcoma (3.6%), and others (23.6%). Patients with reproductive system tumors had lower sperm concentration and prefreezing and post-thawing progressive motility than those with non-reproductive system tumors (all P < 0.001). Differences in sperm concentration, progressive motility, and normal morphology rate were observed between patients with and without anticancer surgery before sperm cryopreservation (all P < 0.05). As of April 30, 2022, 63 patients used their cryopreserved sperm for assisted reproductive technology treatments and 39 pregnancies were achieved. This study provides valuable data on the fertility preservation status in newly diagnosed cancer patients in southern China, demonstrating that patients with reproductive system tumors had poor sperm quality for their pretreatment fertility preservation.

Spin defects in silicon carbide appear to be a promising tool for various quantum technologies, especially for quantum sensing. However, this technique has been used only at ambient pressure until now. Here, by combining this technique with diamond anvil cell, we systematically study the optical and spin properties of divacancy defects created at the surface of SiC at pressures up to 40 GPa. The zero-field-splitting of the divacancy spins increases linearly with pressure with a slope of 25.1 MHz/GPa, which is almost two-times larger than that of nitrogen-vacancy centers in diamond. The corresponding pressure sensing sensitivity is about 0.28 MPa/Hz -1/2 . The coherent control of divacancy demonstrates that coherence time decreases as pressure increases. Based on these, the pressure-induced magnetic phase transition of Nd 2 Fe 14 B sample at high pressures was detected. These experiments pave the way to use divacancy in quantum technologies such as pressure sensing and magnetic detection at high pressures.

Background: There are few nomograms for the prognosis of Chinese patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)., Aim: To construct and validate a nomogram for overall survival (OS) of Chinese TNBC patients after surgery., Methods: This study used the data of SEER*stat 8.3.5 and selected Chinese patients with TNBC operated on between 2010 and 2015. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard regression models were used. The identified variables were integrated to form a predictive nomogram and risk stratification model; it was assessed with C-indexes and calibration curves., Results: The median and maximal OS of the 336 patients was 39 and 83 mo, respectively. The multivariate analysis showed that age ( P = 0.043), marital status ( P = 0.040), tumor localization ( P = 0.030), grade ( P = 0.035), T classification ( P = 0.012), and N classification ( P = 0.002) were independent prognostic factors. The six variables were combined to construct a 1-, 3- and 5-year OS nomogram. The C-indexes of the nomogram to predict OS were 0.766 and compared to the seventh edition staging system, which was higher (0.766 vs 0.707, P < 0.001). In order to categorize patients into different prognostic groups, a risk stratification model was created. There was a significant difference between the Kaplan-Meier curves of the entire cohort and each disease stage according to the nomogram., Conclusion: The nomogram provided prognostic superiority over the traditional tumor, node and metastasis system. Breast cancer is a devastating malignancy, among which the luminal A (LumA) breast cancer is the most common subtype. In the present study, we used a comprehensive bioinformatics approach in the hope of identifying novel prognostic biomarkers for LumA breast cancer patients. Transcriptomic profiling of 611 LumA breast cancer patients was downloaded from TCGA database. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) between tumor samples and controls were first identified by differential expression analysis, before being used for the weighted gene co-expression network analysis. The subsequent univariate Cox regression and LASSO algorithm were used to uncover key prognostic genes for constructing multivariate Cox regression model. Patients were stratified into high-risk and low-risk groups according to the risk score, and subjected to multiple downstream analyses including survival analysis, gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA), inference on immune cell infiltration and analysis of mutation burden. Receiving operator curve analysis was also performed. A total of 7071 DEGs were first identified by edgeR package, pink module was found significantly associated with invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC). 105 prognostic genes and 9 predictors were identified, allowing the identification of a 5-key prognostic genes (LRRC77P, CA3, BAMBI, CABP1, ATP8A2) after intersection. These 5 genes, and the resulting Cox model, displayed good prognostic performance. Furthermore, distinct differences existed between two risk-score stratified groups at various levels. The identified 5-gene prognostic model will help deepen the understanding of the molecular and immunological mechanisms that affect the survival of LumA-ILC patients and guide and proper monitoring of these patients., (© 2022. Objective: This study examined the prevalence of exposure to secondhand smoke, its correlates and its association with quality of life (QOL) among pregnant and postnatal Chinese women., Design: This was a multicentre, cross-sectional study., Setting: Participants were consecutively recruited from eight tertiary hospitals located in eight municipalities or provinces in China., Participants: A total of 1140 women were invited to join this study and 992 (87.02%) completed all measures., Primary and Secondary Outcome: Measures women's secondhand smoking behaviour (frequency and location of exposure to secondhand smoking), and their QOL measured by the WHO Quality of Life Questionnaire., Results: A total of 211 women (21.3%, 95% CI 18.7% to 23.8%) had been exposed to secondhand smoking. Exposure to secondhand smoking was most common in public areas (56.4%), and residential homes (20.5%), while workplaces had the lowest rate of exposure (13.7%). Women with physical comorbidities were more likely to report secondhand smoking exposure, while older women, women living in urban areas, those with college or higher education level, and women in their second trimester were less likely to report exposure to secondhand smoking. Network analysis revealed that there were six significant links between secondhand smoke and QOL items. The strongest negative edge was the connection between secondhand smoke and QOL9 ('physical environment health', edge weight=-0.060), while the strongest positive edge was the connection between secondhand smoke and QOL3 ('pain and discomfort', edge weight=0.037)., Conclusion: The prevalence of exposure to secondhand smoking is becoming lower among pregnant and postnatal women in China compared with findings reported in previous studies. Pseudostellaria heterophylla is authentic traditional Chinese herbal medicine in Fujian Province. P. hete-rophylla suffers from serious consecutive monoculture problems. Fallow can alleviate such problems, but the mecha-nism is still unclear. In this study, high-throughput sequencing was performed to analyze the changes in soil microbial community structure and diversity in the P. heterophylla soil at different fallow ages as well as their relationships with soil physicochemical properties and phenolic acids. The results showed that fungal community diversity decreased but bacterial community diversity increased in fallow soils compared with the control soil of P. heterophy-lla . For bacterial communities, the relative abundance of Acidobacteria increased, while that of Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria decreased in fallow soils. For fungal communities, the relative abundance of dominant phyla had no significant difference between fallow and control soils. Soil acidity and organic matter content showed a trend of weakening and decreasing, respectively, with the increases of fallow years. In addition, with the increases of fallow years, the content of phenolic acids in soil, including benzoic acid and salicylic acid, showed significant decrease, while some other phenolic acids such as p-coumaric acid were accumulated obviously. Taken together, fallow could efficiently ameliorate the structure of soil microbial community and soil properties of P. heterophylla , and thus alleviate the effects of continuous cropping.

Objective: To explore the necessity of reception of sperm donors by full-time nurses in the sperm bank by analyzing the efficiency of sperm donation before and after staffing Guangdong Sperm Bank (GSB) with full-time nurses., Methods: We selected 9 712 qualified sperm donors in GSB from January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2021 and compared the efficiency of sperm donation before and after staffing GSB with full-time nurses., Results: After staffing GSB with full-time nurses, the proportion of qualified sperm donors screened from the quasi-qualified ones was dramatically increased from 66.2% (1 230/1 858) to 77.1% (3 252/4 218) (P < 0.01), that of HIV re-examinees after 6-month suspension from sperm donation increased from 84.6% (137/162) to 93.4% (599/641) (P < 0.01), and that of the candidate donors lost to follow-up during the screening period decreased from 23.2% (831/3 583) to 21.3% (1 308/6 129) (P = 0.034)., Conclusion: After Guangdong Sperm Bank was staffed with full-time nurses for reception of sperm donors, the proportion of the candidate donors lost to follow-up was reduced and the efficiency of sperm donation was significantly improved. Individualized psychological intervention for the sperm donors by the nurses could dispel the worries of the donors and improve the compliance and efficiency of sperm donation.

It is of great significance to understand the effects of different rice cultivation methods in southeast China on greenhouse gas emission characteristics and carbon footprint of paddy fields during rice cultivation for rice sustainable production. In this study, the popular conventional rice 'Jiafuzhan' and hybrid rice 'Yongyou 2640' were used as materials to establish four rice cultivation patterns suitable for different ecological types in Fujian Province: 1) double-cropping system, early rice and late rice with Jiafuzhan (D-J); 2) early maturing ratooning system, first season rice and ratooning season rice with Jiafuzhan (R-J); 3) middle-maturing ratooning system, first season rice and ratooning season with Yongyou 2640 (R-Y); and 4) single cropping system with Yongyou 2640 (S-Y), which should be synchronized in heading time with the counterpart (the ratooning season rice). Greenhouse gas emissions from paddy soil were measured by the closed static black box observation method and the gas chromatography method, respectively. The total direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions (carbon footprints) from different rice farming patterns were evaluated by using the life cycle analysis. The results showed that greenhouse gas emissions in different rice cropping systems were lower in the early growth stage, then decreased after reaching the peak at the booting stage, demonstrating a double peak curve in the whole growth stage, in which the first peak was higher in early season or first season than the second peak in the late season or ratooning season in the cropping patterns. Moreover, the total greenhouse gas emissions were significantly different among cropping systems. The global warming potential (GWP) of different cropping patterns was in order of R-Y>D-J>S-Y>R-J, while the annual greenhouse gas emission intensity (GHGI) was D-J>S-Y>R-Y>R-J. GWP and GHGI of the ratooning system decreased by 26.1% and 14.1%, respectively, compared with those of the double-cropping system. The same pattern was observed in the ratooning rice of Yongyou 2640, which were decreased by 74.3% and 56.7%, respectively, compared with the counterpart, Yongyou 2640 in a single-cropping system synchronized heading. Carbon footprint of rice per unit yield ranged from 0.38-1.08 kg CO 2 -eq.·kg -1 under the different cropping systems, of which the carbon footprint of rice per unit yield was the highest under the double cropping system compared with that under other cropping systems. The reverse was true in the case of carbon footprint of rice per unit yield under the ratooning system with Yongyou 2640. Additionally, the main source of carbon footprint of different rice cropping patterns was CH 4 , contributing 44.2%-71.5%, suggesting that rice ratooning system could significantly reduce global warming potential and carbon emission intensity of rice in comparison with other cropping patterns. Therefore, it is key to select rice varieties with high yield and low carbon emission and to establish the supporting scientific cultivation techniques for effective reduction of CH 4 emission and carbon footprint of paddy fields and promotion of ratooning rice production.

Na + -taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide deficiency (NTCPD) is an autosomal recessive disorder arising from biallelic SLC10A1 mutations. As a newly-described inborn error of bile acid metabolism, the epidemiology of this condition remains largely unclear in Chinese population so far. In this study, a total of 2,828 peripheral blood samples were collected from 12 cities in Guangdong, a province with the largest population in China, and the four prevalent SLC10A1 variants c.800C > T (p.Ser267Phe), c.263T > C (p.Ile88Thr), c.595A > C (p.Ser199Arg) and c.665T > C (p.Leu222Ser) were screened for by using polymerase chain reaction (PCR)- restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP). As a result, 663 mutated SLC10A1 alleles were detected, and the mutated allele frequency was calculated to be 11.72% (663/5,656), with a carrier frequency 20.69% (1/5) and a theoretical morbidity rate 1.37% (1/73) of NTCPD in Guangdong province. The variant c.800C > T (p.Ser267Phe) exhibited highest allele frequency among the four prevalent variants (χ 2 = 1501.27, p < 0.0001) as well as higher allele frequency in the peripheral region than that within the Pearl River Delta (χ 2 = 4.834, p < 0.05). The results suggested that NTCPD might be a disorder rather common in Guangdong province. Objective: Excessive Internet use is a common health problem globally. This study aimed to assess the prevalence, correlates, and network structure of Internet addiction symptoms (Internet addiction hereafter) among Chinese pregnant and postpartum women., Methods: This was a multicenter cross-sectional study using Internet Addiction Test (IAT) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL-BREF) to evaluate Internet addiction and quality of life (QOL), respectively. Univariate analyses, multivariate logistic regression analyses, and network analyses were performed., Results: Of a total of 1,060 women who completed the study, 320 (30.19%, 95% CI=27.42%-32.96%) women reported Internet addiction during or after pregnancy. Women with previous adverse pregnancy experiences (OR=1.831, P=0.001) and physical comorbidities (OR=1.724, P=0.004) had a higher likelihood of developing Internet addiction. Internet addiction was significantly associated with poor QOL in all domains. Network analyses revealed that IAT item 16 (request an extension for longer time spent online) was the most central symptom in the analyses, and also one of the strongest bridging symptoms linking the Internet addiction and QOL communities., Limitations: This was a cross-sectional study, all study findings were based on self-reported data, and possible recall bias and selection bias may exist., Conclusion: Internet addiction is common among Chinese pregnant and postpartum women, and is significantly associated with lower QOL. Guangxi Province is located in the southwest of the People's Republic of China (PRC). The province has a population of 50.12 million with a birth rate of 13.31%. Thalassemia is a major health problem in Guangxi Province. About 20.0-25.0% of the population carries thalassemia genes, which is acknowledged to be the highest prevalence in China. National and provincial programs for thalassemia prevention and control have been introduced. Premarital screening and prenatal diagnosis (PND) for the prevention of thalassemic fetuses are available. Blood transfusions, iron chelation therapy, and stem cell transplantation are also available for transfusion-dependent thalassemic patients.

Objectives: To study the physical and neuropsychological development of children with Citrin deficiency (CD)., Methods: A total of 93 children, aged 1.9-59.8 months, who were diagnosed with CD by SLC25A13 gene analysis in the First Affiliated Hospital of Jinan University from August 2010 to August 2015, were enrolled as subjects. A retrospective analysis was performed for their birth condition and physical growth and neuropsychological development indices. Among these children, 7 underwent physical measurement and neuropsychological development assessment within 1 year old and after 1 year old, and therefore, a total of 100 cases were included for analysis., Results: For the 93 children with CD, the incidence rate of failure to thrive was 25% (23 children) and the proportion of small for gestational age was 47% (44 children). For the 100 cases of CD, the incidence rates of growth retardation, underweight, emaciation, overweight, and microcephalus were 23% (23 cases), 14% (14 cases), 4% (4 cases), 8% (8 cases), and 9% (9 cases), respectively. The incidence rate of neuropsychological developmental delay was 25% (25 cases), and the incidence rates of development delay in the five domains of adaptability, gross motor, fine motor, language, and social ability were 7% (7 cases), 15% (15 cases), 7% (7 cases), 9% (9 cases), and 7% (7 cases), respectively., Conclusions: Physical and neuropsychological developmental delay can be observed in children with CD, and physical and neuropsychological development should be regularly assessed.

To clarify the interaction between land-use change and ecosystem service, the traditional ecosystem service valuation model was modified using the adjustment coefficients of biomass factor and socio-economic factor to evaluate ecosystem service value (ESV) of 24 towns in Anxi County from 1999 to 2019, aiming to understand the ecological response to land-use change. The results showed that ESV of 24 towns in Anxi County decreased gradually during the study period, with a decrease of 0.004 to 0.295 million yuan. Forestland and cultivated land made the largest contribution to ESV, followed by grassland and water bodies, whereas the contribution of other land types were negative. ESV could be increased by converting other land types into forestland, but be decreased by converting other land types into orchard land area (mainly tea plantation). The chemical fertilizer-monoculture management pattern of ratooning tea plantation reduced ESV, while the ecological cultivation of tea plantation could effectively improve soil microbial diversity and soil fertility, and finally enhance ESV.

Protein elicitors can induce plant systemic resistance to pathogens. In an earlier study, we cloned an EsxA gene from the plant growth-promoting rhizobacterium Paenibacillus terrae NK3-4 and expressed it in Pichia pastoris. In addition to being important for the pathogenicity of animal pathogens, EsxA can also induce an immune response in animals. While, we found the exogenously expressed EsxA has the activity of elicitor, which can trigger hypersensitive response and reactive oxygen species burst in leaves as well as enhanced rice plant growth. The effects of EsxA on seedling blight (Fusarium oxysporum) resistance and gene transcription, including pathogenesis-related (PR) genes in rice were evaluated. The germination rate was 95.0% for seeds treated with EsxA and then inoculated with F. oxysporum, which was 2.8-times higher than that of F. oxysporum-infected control seeds that were not treated with EsxA (Con). The buds and roots of EsxA-treated seedlings were 2.4- and 15.9-times longer than those of Con seedlings. The plants and roots of seedlings dipped in an EsxA solution and then inoculated with F. oxysporum were longer than those of the Con seedlings. Theplant length, number of total roots, and number of white roots were respectively 23.2%, 1.74-times, and 7.42-times greater for the seedlings sprayed with EsxA and then inoculated with F. oxysporum than for the Con seedlings. The EsxA induction efficiency (spray treatment) on seedling blight resistance was 60.9%. The transcriptome analysis revealed 1137 and 239 rice genes with EsxA-induced up-regulated and down-regulated transcription levels, respectively. At 48 h after the EsxA treatment, the transcription of 611 and 160 genes was up-regulated and down-regulated, respectively, compared with the transcription levels for the untreated control at the same time-point. Many disease resistance-related PR genes had up-regulated transcription levels. The qPCR data were consistent with the transcriptome sequencing results. EsxA triggered rice ISR to seedling blight and gene differential transcription, including the up-regulated transcription of rice PR genes. Na + -taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide deficiency (NTCPD) is a newly described disorder arising from biallelic mutations of the SLC10A1 gene. As a result of a lack of compelling evidence from case-control studies, its genotypic and phenotypic features remain open for in-depth investigation. This study aimed to explore the genotypic and clinical phenotypic characteristics of paediatric patients with NTCPD. The SLC10A1 genotypes of all NTCPD patients were confirmed by screening for the prevalent variant c.800C>T and Sanger sequencing when necessary. The clinical presentations and laboratory changes were collected, reviewed and analysed, and then qualitatively and quantitatively compared with the relevant controls. A total of 113 paediatric NTCPD patients were diagnosed while c.374dupG and c.682&#95;683delCT were detected as two novel pathogenic mutations. Hypercholanemia was observed in 99.12% of the patients. Indirect hyperbilirubinemia in affected neonates exhibited higher positive rates in comparison to controls. Moreover, transient cholestatic jaundice, elevated liver enzymes and 25-hydroxyvitamin D (Vit D) deficiency during early infancy were more commonly observed in patients than in controls. All NTCPD patients exhibited favourable clinical outcomes as a result of symptomatic and supportive treatment. The findings enriched the SLC10A1 mutation spectrum and provided comprehensive insights into the phenotypic characteristics of NTCPD. NTCPD should be considered and SLC10A1 gene should be analysed in patients with above age-dependent clinical features. With a pot experiment, the Biolog microplate and phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) technology were used to explore whether the application of bacteria, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens (YB706) and Burkholderia (BK8), could improve the soil nutrient, microbial community and growth of Casuarina equisetifolia . The results showed that the concentrations of soil alkali-hydrolyzed nitrogen and available phosphorus of C. equisetifolia treated with YB706 and BK8 increased significantly compared with the control (CK), but the concentrations of total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium and available potassium changed little, plant height increased by 59.1% and 63.9%, respectively, and the chlorophyll content of plant treated with BK8 increased by 81.9%. The average well color development values showed a pattern of YB706>CK>BK8. The utilization rate of different carbon sources showed the same trend except the amino acids. Both YB706 and BK8 treatments significantly increased the richness and quantity of soil microorganisms. The PLFA of all kinds of microorganisms was BK8>YB706>CK except actinomycetes. The ratio of soil fungi to bacteria was increased compared with CK. The Simpson, Shannon, Brillouin and McIntosh indices of rhizosphere soil microbial community in YB706 and BK8 treatments were significantly increased. Our results suggested that application of YB706 and BK8 could improve the growth rate of C. equisetifolia seedlings, effectively increase the contents of soil available nutrients, increase soil microbial diversity, and improve soil microbial environment.

The association between the phospholipid transfer protein (PLTP) gene rs4810479 single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and serum lipid levels is largely unknown. This investigation aimed to evaluate the relationship between the PLTP rs4810479 SNP, several environmental risk factors, and serum lipid parameters in the Chinese Maonan and Han nationalities. Polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism, gel electrophoresis, and direct sequencing were employed to determine the PLTP rs4810479 genotypes in 633 Maonan and 646 Han participants. The frequencies of CC, CT, and TT genotypes and the C allele were different between Maonan and Han groups (29.07%, 53.08%, 17.85%, and 55.61% vs. 35.60%, 49.70%, 14.70%, and 60.45%, respectively, P < 0.05). The C allele carriers in the Maonan group had higher high-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels than the C allele noncarriers, but this finding was only found in Maonan males but not in females. The C allele carriers in Han males had lower total cholesterol and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol levels than the C allele noncarriers. Serum lipid profiles were also affected by several traditional cardiovascular risk factors in both populations. Radix pseudostellariae is a traditional Chinese medicinical herb, with tuberous roots being used as a medicine. Serious continuous monoculture problems were suffered from process of artificial and intensive cultivation. To explore the effective technical methods to overcome the monoculture problems, the effects of different technical substitution patterns on soil environment remediation, photosynthetic physiology and yield performance of R. pseudostellariae were assessed under continuous cropping system with four technical substitution treatments in the phase between two crops after the newly harvested R. pseudostellariae (first crop): fallow (RP-F-RP), fallow treated with microbial fertilizer (RP-F-BF), water flooding (RP-WF), and water flooding treated with specific microbial fertilizer (RP-WF-BF). Results showed that RP-WF-BF pattern was the single one that could effectively restore R. pseudostellariae yield under two-year monoculture and three-year monoculture to more than 90% and 70% of the newly planted respectively. All the other patterns did not significantly improve R. pseudostellariae yield under two-year monoculture. The contents of polysaccharide and total saponin in R. pseudostellariae under RP-WF-BF treatment were significantly increased by 15.3% and 16.5% compared with those of the newly planted, respectively. The abundance of beneficial microorganisms in the rhizosphere soil of R. pseudostellariae significantly increased. A reverse pattern occurred for pathogens under RP-WF-BF pattern. Moreover, soil nitrogen cycling was improved. The expression of AOB , nosZ and nirK was increased by 931%, 124% and 100% compared with those in the RP-F-RP pattern, respectively. Soil acidification under RP-WF-BF pattern was alleviated. The alleviation of soil biological and abiotic stress enhanced the stability of the antioxidant enzyme system, thereby improving the growth and development of R. pseudostellariae at the seedling and the early expand stages. The chlorophyll content, leaf area index and photosynthesis rate of leaves were increased, with the dry matter translocation improved and accumulation of underground dry matter accelerated, which ultimately increased yield and quality under RP-WF-BF pattern. In this study, the separate water flooding treatment (RP-WF) and microbial fertilizer treatment (RP-F-BF) failed to significantly reduce the continuous cropping obstacles of R. pseudostellariae , while the combination of them could produce a multiplication effect of sustainable strengthening on rhizosphere environment. The findings suggested that effective technical substitution could reduce replant disease of R. pseudostellariae .

Background: Citrin deficiency (CD) is an autosomal recessive disease resulting from biallelic mutations of the SLC25A13 gene. This study aimed to investigate the molecular epidemiological features of CD in the Guangdong and Shaanxi provinces of China., Methods: A total of 3,409 peripheral blood samples from Guangdong and 2,746 such samples from Shaanxi province were collected. Four prevalent SLC25A13 mutations NG&#95;012247.2 (NM&#95;014251.3): c.852&#95;855del, c.1638&#95;1660dup, c.615+5G>A, and c.1751-5&#95;1751-4ins(2684) were screened by using the conventional polymerase chain reaction (PCR)/PCR-restriction fragment length polymorphism and newly-developed multiplex PCR methods, respectively. The mutated SLC25A13 allele frequencies, carrier frequencies, and CD morbidity rates were calculated and then compared with the Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests., Results: The mutations were detected in 68 out of 6,818 SLC25A13 alleles in Guangdong and 29 out of 5,492 alleles in the Shaanxi population. The carrier frequencies were subsequently calculated to be 1/51 and 1/95, while the CD morbidity rates were 1/10,053 and 1/35,865, in the 2 populations, respectively. When compared with the Shaanxi population, Guangdong exhibited a higher frequency of mutated SLC25A13 allele (68/6,818 vs. 29/5,492, χ 2 =8.570, P=0.003) in general, with higher c.852&#95;855del (54/6,818 vs. 13/5,492, χ 2 =17.328, P=0.000) but lower c.1751-5&#95;1751 -4ins(2684) (2/6,818 vs. 9/5,492, P=0.015) allele frequencies. Background: This study examined the prevalence of depressive symptoms (depression hereafter) and its association with quality of life (QOL) among pregnant and postnatal women in China. Methods: In this multi-center, cross-sectional study, 1,060 pregnant and postnatal women from eight hospitals were assessed. Depression and QOL were measured using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire - brief version, respectively. Results: The prevalence of depression was 7.45% (95% CI: 5.87-9.04%) in the sample. Women with depression had lower QOL in physical, psychological, social and environmental domains compared to those without. Women with physical comorbidities were more likely to suffer from depression (OR = 2.391, 95% CI = 1.384-4.130, P = 0.002). Conclusion: Due to its negative association with QOL, increased attention should be paid to depression in pregnant and postnatal women. Neonatal Intrahepatic Cholestasis caused by Citrin Deficiency (NICCD) is an autosomal recessive disease resulting from biallelic SLC25A13 mutations, and its diagnosis relies on genetic analysis. This study aimed to characterize the pathogenicity of 2 novel splice-site variants of SLC25A13 gene. Two patients (C0476 and C0556) suspected to have NICCD, their family members and 9 healthy volunteers were recruited as the research subjects. The SLC25A13 genotypes NG&#95;012247.2(NM&#95;014251.3): c.[852&#95;855del]; [69+5G > A] in patient C0476 and c.[1453-1G > A]; [1751-5&#95;1751-4ins (2684)] in patient C0556 were identified by means of polymerase chain reaction, long and accurate polymerase chain reaction, as well as Sanger sequencing. The 2 splice-site variants were absent in control databases and predicted to be pathogenic by computational analysis. The alternative splice variants in monocyte-derived macrophages from patient C0476 demonstrated exon 2 skipping [r.16&#95;69del; p.(Val6&#95;Lys23del)] in vivo, while minigene analysis revealed both exon 2-skipping and retained products from c.69+5G > A in vitro. In the patient C0556, an aberrant transcript [r.1453del; p.(Gly485Valfs*22)] resulting from c.1453-1G > A was detected on minigene splicing study. Thus, c.69+5G > A and c.1453-1G > A were both proved to be pathogenic. The 2 novel splice-site variants expanded the SLC25A13 mutation spectrum and provided reliable molecular markers for the definite diagnosis and genetic counseling of NICCD in the affected families., (Copyright © 2021 The Author(s). Here, we report a theoretical study on the mechanism of phosphine-catalyzed [8+2] cycloaddition of heptafulvenes and allenoate. DFT calculations showed that electrophilicity is the barrier for nucleophilic attack, while it fails in the prediction of priority.

A biocompatible Y(III)-based metal-organic framework [Y 4 (TATB) 2 ]·(DMF) 3.5 ·(H 2 O) (ZJU-16, H 3 TATB= 4,4',4''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl) tribenzoic acid) was synthesized, and it was adopted to load Mn 2+ for chemodynamic therapy. Meanwhile, ibuprofen sodium (IBUNa), an anti-inflammatory drug, was introduced to increase the amount of Mn 2+ (about 5.66 wt %) due to the low loading capacity of Mn 2+ . Mn&IBUNa@ZJU-16 which was loaded by Mn 2+ and IBUNa exhibited significant effects of chemodynamic therapy and excellent inhibition of the 4T1 tumor cell growth, implying its long-term prospects in chemodynamic therapy and its possibility in bimodal cancer therapy.
