PURPOSE Resilience is ability, outcomes, or processes to an individual's ability to adapt well in the face of significant adversity, which can improve the people’s coping strategies, decrease the level of psychological distress; however, the effect of psychological therapies for resilience remains unknow. Therefore, we systematically evaluate the effect of psychological therapies on the resilience in cancer patients. METHODS We conducted keyword-based searches in PubMed, Cochrane, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and Embase databases. Two researchers independently conducted a strict evaluation for the overall quality of evidence by using the GRADE system and independently performed a data extraction, take meta-analysis by calculating the effect size of the experimental group, exploring the effects of psychological therapies on increasing resilience (PROSPERO registration no.:CRD42021256841). RESULTS There were 12 RCTs (all studies were included in meta-analysis) which be reprsented by Cohen’g were found both at the phase of post-intervention ( Z=4.98; 95% CI, 0.767 to 1.762; pCONCLUSIONS Psychological therapies can significantly improve the resilience in cancer patients, which maintained at follow up. The most widely used skills in CBTs is rumination, attentional bias and cognitive modification, which committed to changing the way of thinking in which the patients relates to his or her past inner experiences. Future researches could investigate how to further optimize psychological therapies to enhancing cancer patients’ resilience.

Nutrition education andcounseling is the first-line approach in nutritional support for adult cancer patients; however, it is not well implemented in many clinical settings. This study aims to determine the effect of an evidence-based nutrition education and counseling (NEC) program on nutrition status among cancer patients receiving radiotherapy.This cluster-randomized clinical trial enrolled cancer patients receiving radiotherapy from ten radiotherapy units in three hospitals. Randomization was conducted at the unit level (five units into the NEC group and five units into the usual care group). The primary outcome was nutrition status after radiotherapy measured by the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA). Secondary outcomes included nutrition-related blood biomarkers after radiotherapy and the use of artificial nutrition and treatment interruption during radiotherapy.A total of 468 patients were enrolled (241 in the NEC and 227 in the usual care group); 196 patients were female with a mean age (SD) of 59.8 (11.9). No difference was found between the NEC and usual care groups in nutrition status and blood biomarkers at baseline. After radiotherapy, patients in the NEC group had lower PG-SGA scores (5.6 vs 6.9; MD = -1.3, p0.001) and lower malnutrition rate (56.0% vs 70.5%; OR = 0.5; p = 0.004) compared with the usual care group. The usages of artificial nutrition and treatment interruption during radiotherapy and the level of blood biomarkers after radiotherapy did not differ between groups.Nutrition education and counseling is an effective approach in reducing malnutrition and can be generalized to multiple radiotherapy settings. Vortex beams have attracted much attention in recent years due to unique features of the phase or polarization singularity in the center part of beams. Various applications have been explored by the vortex beams including optical communication, optical tweezer, etc . Especially, the vortex beams for optical sensing applications have emerged. Compared with the traditional Gaussian beams, the vortex beams enable the optical sensing with the degree of freedom by controlling the spin and orbital phase and polarization. In this review article, we have discussed the theory of polarization and phase vortices, and then summarized the vortex beam generation in optical fiber and their sensing applications. It is hoped that the article can intrigue further research interest and development in fiber vortices for sensing applications.

Perfect vortex beam has the characteristics of optical orbital angular momentum and is widely studied because of its advantages of a uniform ring profile and fixed radius. However, the current method of generating perfect vortex beam is mainly based on the phase modulation of spatial light modulator. We have proposed and demonstrated the fabrication of polymer-based phase plate to generate the first and higher-order perfect vortex beams by using maskless lithography exposure technique. According to the relationship of the lithographic depth of polymer and grayscale exposure, the phase plates with different topological charges and axicon parameters are fabricated. By using such polymer-based phase plate, the radius and ring width of perfect vortex beams are analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The fabricated phase plate shows high transmittance as well as perfect vortex beam generation with high quality in the bandwidth range from 1460 nm to 1640 nm. The obtained results prove the feasibility of the attempt of polymer to generate perfect vortex beams, showing great potential in the application of highly miniaturized and integrated optical vortex applications.

The purpose of this review was to explore the correlation between patients' fear of cancer recurrence (FCR) and radiotherapy. National Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, China Science and Technology Journal Database, SinoMed, PubMed, Web of Science, EBSCO-CINAHL, Cochrane Library, and Ovid Embase were searched to identify relevant studies. Thirty-five eligible studies were included in the systematic review, and 22 of them were included in further meta-analysis. The results of the meta-analysis showed that the level of patients' FCR was positively correlated with radiotherapy, but the correlation was weak (overall r = 0.075; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.046-0.103; P = .000). In terms of subgroup analysis based on cancer site (breast cancer vs other types of cancer), the breast cancer group (r = 0.086; 95% CI, 0.027-0.143; P = .004), the mixed-type group (r = 0.073; 95% CI, 0.033-0.112; P = .000), and the other-type group (r = 0.071; 95% CI, 0.015-0.126; P = .013) have a positive correlation with radiotherapy. Patients' FCR positively correlated with the receipt of radiotherapy. However, because of the variability among the studies, the results have limitations. Therefore, longitudinal studies are needed to verify the trajectory of FCR over radiation therapy.

In this paper, a magnetic field sensor based on Terfenol-D coated optical fibers is proposed and demonstrated. In our scheme, standard single mode fibers are coated by a thick layer of a magnetostrictive composite consisting of Terfenol-D particles dispersed in a polymer, which is then utilized as sensing elements. The magnetic field-induced strain on single mode fibers coated by the Terfenol-D was interrogated by an optical frequency-domain reflectometry (OFDR). The experimental results show that the sensitivity of the magnetostrictive fiber sensor depends on the coating characteristics including the surface of coated optical fiber. The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is 0.175 μe/mT.

Long non‑coding RNA 00460 (LINC00460) has been reported to be involved in the tumorigenesis of various cancer types. However, the function of LINC00460 in acute myeloid leukemia (AML) remains elusive. Therefore, the present study aimed to investigate the role of LINC00460 in AML. The expression of LINC00460 in the serum of 80 diagnosed patients with AML and 67 healthy controls was measured via reverse transcription‑quantitative polymerase chain reaction, and the results were compared with clinical features and patient outcomes. The expression of LINC00460 in 45 patients with cytogenetically normal‑AML (CN‑AML) was also assayed. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were generated to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of serum LINC00460. In addition, the effects of LINC00460 on the viability, cell cycle distribution and apoptosis of AML cells were investigated. Bioinformatics tools were used to identify the possible mechanisms of how LINC00460 affects AML cells. It was found that the expression of LINC00460 was significantly upregulated in the serum of patients with AML and those with CN‑AML. Higher expression of serum LINC00460 was positively associated with French‑American‑British classification and cytogenetics. Furthermore, ROC curve analyses demonstrated that serum LINC00460 could differentiate patients with AML from healthy individuals with an area under the curve of 0.8488 (95% CI, 0.7697‑0.9279). The serum LINC00460 expression was also significantly decreased when the patients achieved complete remission. Kaplan‑Meier analysis indicated that patients with high serum LINC00460 expression had a shorter overall survival time compared with the low serum LINC00460 expression group. Knockdown of LINC00460 inhibited viability, while inducing cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in AML cells. LINC00460 was also a decoy of microRNA (miR)‑320b, which can further inhibit the expression of PBX homeobox 3 (PBX3). Collectively, the results suggested that LINC00460 may be applied as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for patients with AML. It was identified that LINC00460 may exert its effects, at least partly, via the miR‑320b/PBX3 axis in AML.

We demonstrated magnetic field sensing based on the magneto-optic effect of optical fiber-generated vector beams in BGO crystal. A sensitivity of 9.1%/T is obtained by utilizing a slit and optical power measurement.

After the chronic stress, mice were administrated with JTW (3.3 and 6.6mg/kg) and imipramine (10 mg/kg) for 14 days. On the 14th day, mice were subjected to the behavior test like the forced swim test, tail suspension test, and locomotor activity or were sacrificed to assess the protein changes in different brain regions.The administration of JTW at doses of 3.3 and 6.6mg/kg (p.o.) significantly shortened the duration of immobility in forced swim and tail suspension tests. There was no obvious difference in locomotor activity among all the groups. The western blot analysis data indicated that treatment with JTW (3.3 and 6.6 mg/kg, p.o.) prominently increased the AOur findings suggest that JTW plays a vital role in ameliorating menopausal depression symptoms in the A

We retrospectively analyzed the association between mean platelet volume (MPV) and prognosis in 62 newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (MM) patients. The associations between MPV and clinical characteristics were assessed. The log-rank test and the Cox proportional hazards model were used to evaluate the effect of MPV on survival. A MPV value of 8.50 fl was considered to be the optimal cut-off value for prognosis. MPV was associated with IgA isotype (P=0.012), serum creatinine concentration > 176.8 μmol/L (P=0.025) and IgH rearrangement (P=0.008). The log-rank test demonstrated that patients with low MPV experienced a shorter overall survival (OS) (P=0.0397). The multivariate analysis demonstrated that low MPV was an independent prognostic factor for OS [hazard ratio (HR)=2.44, P=0.026]. Therefore, we demonstrated that low MPV predicted an unfavorable prognosis in patients with MM.

A novel polydopamine- graft -poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) (PDA- g -PMOXA) coating was prepared by immobilizing poly(2-methyl-2-oxazoline) (PMOXA) onto material surfaces through polydopamine (PDA) anchored coating for the first time. And then, the chemical composition, hydrophilicity, and protein-resistant properties of the PDA- g -PMOXA coating were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), contact angel (CA) test, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM-D) measurement. Finally, the coating was applied to the capillary inner surface for protein separation by capillary electrophoresis (CE).

To stabilize electroosmotic flow (EOF) and suppress protein adsorption onto the silica capillary inner wall, a cationic hydroxyethylcellulose-graft-poly (poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate) (cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA) graft copolymer composed of cationic backbone and bottle brush-like side chains was synthesized for the first time and used as a novel physically adsorbed coating for protein separation by capillary electrophoresis. Reversed (anodal) and very stable EOF was obtained in cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA-coated capillary at pH 2.2-7.8. The effects of degree of cationization, PEGMA grafting ratio, PEGMA molecular mass, and buffer pH on the separation of basic proteins were investigated. A systematic comparative study of protein separation in bare and HEC-coated capillaries and in cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA-coated capillary was also performed. The basic proteins can be well separated in cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA-coated capillary over the pH range of 2.8-6.8 with good repeatability and high separation efficiency, because the coating combines good protein-resistant property of bottle brush-like PPEGMA side chains with excellent coating ability of cat-HEC backbone. Besides its success in separation of basic proteins, the cat-HEC-g-PPEGMA coating was also superior in the fast separation of other protein samples, such as protein mixture, egg white, and saliva, which indicates that it is a promising coating for further proteomics analysis.

Our objective was to produce avascular, myofibroblast-rich tissue capsules for use as autologous grafts for hollow, smooth muscle-walled visceral organs-bladder, uterus and vas deferens. To produce tissue for grafting, templates of the appropriate shape were implanted in the peritoneal cavities of rats or rabbits. After 2-3 weeks, the templates were removed, the encapsulating myofibroblast-rich tissue harvested and grafted to replace resected segments of bladder, vas deferens or uterus of the same animals in which the tissue was grown. Bladder grafts showed 100% patency after 14 months and had developed a morphology similar to normal bladder. Tubes of myofibroblast tissue grafted unilaterally into resected rabbit vasa deferentia developed a morphology resembling native tissue, with sperm in the ejaculate indicative of normal function. At 12 weeks after grafting, uterine graft tissue had increased in thickness and developed the morphology of normal uterus, with endometrium overlying several layers of smooth muscle cells (myometrium-like) which were interspersed with collagen fibrils; grafted uterine horns supported embryos to the late stages of gestation. This study shows that myofibroblast tissue produced in the peritoneal cavity is sufficiently plastic to permit differentiation of cells into bladder, vas deferens or uterine smooth muscle. As a method for producing autologous graft material for repair/replacement of these organs, this approach has many benefits over conventional and current tissue-engineering strategies.

‘Artificial blood vessels’ were grown in the peritoneal or pleural cavities of the dog for autologous transplantation as arterial interposition grafts. Tubing up to 250 mm long, either bare or wrapped in biodegradable polyglycolic acid (Dexon) mesh, was inserted into the body cavities using minimally invasive techniques. After 3 weeks, the tubes and their tissue capsules were harvested then the inert tubing discarded. The wall of living tissue was uniformly 1–1.5 mm thick and consisted of multiple layers of myofibroblasts that stained for α-smooth muscle actin, and extracellular matrix overlaid by a single layer of mesothelium. The bursting strength of tissue tubes with no biodegradable mesh scaffolds was in excess of 2500 mm Hg and the suture holding strength was 11.5 N. Tissue tubes (5–7 cm) were transplanted as interposition grafts into the femoral artery of the same dog in which they were grown where they remained patent until harvest at 3 to 6.5 months. Endothelial-like cells lined the lumen and the cells of wall stained for α-actin, smooth muscle myosin and smoothelin; a thick ‘neo-adventitia’ contained vasa vasorum. These studies demonstrate that peritoneal and pleural cavities of large animals can function as a bioreactor to grow tissue tubes for use as autologous vascular grafts.

This study describes the formation of highly efficient antiprotein adsorption random copolymer coating of poly(N,N-dimethylacrylamide-co-sulfobetaine methacrylate) (poly(DMA-co-SBMA)) on the fused-silica capillary inner wall. Firstly, the poly(DMA-co-SBMA)s with different feed ratio (SBMA/DMA) were synthesized via the reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer polymerization. And then, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and water contact angle (CA) were used to investigate the composition and hydrophilicity of poly(DMA-co-SBMA) coating formed on the glass slide surfaces. CA measurements revealed that the poly(DMA-co-SBMA) coating became more hydrophilic with the increment of feed ratio (SBMA/DMA), and at the same time, the XPS results showed that the coating ability was also increased with the increment of feed ratio. Followed, the copolymer was applied to coat the fused-silica capillary inner wall, and the coated capillary was used to separate the mixture of proteins (lysozyme, cytochrome c, ribonuclease A, and α-chymotrypsinogen A) in a pH range from 3.0 to 5.0. Under the optimum conditions, an excellent separation of basic proteins with peak efficiencies ranging from 551,000 to 1509,000 N/m had been accomplished within 10 min. Furthermore, the effect of coating composition on protein separation was also investigated through the comparison of separation efficiency achieved by using bare, PSBMA- and poly(DMA-co-SBMA)-coated capillary, respectively.

To achieve the calibration parameters of vision measurement system, this paper presents a new camera calibration method based on grid recognition. The calibration is implemented by acquiring the corresponding relations between the world coordinates and pixel coordinates of the planar gridding target image captured by camera. Meanwhile, the pixel coordinates of the target image are detected separately by getting the binary image with the Otsu binarization algorithm, recognizing the target grid point using the improved hit-or-miss transform (HMT), removing the interferences according to the geometrical features of the grid, correcting the system distortion by the least square fitting and bilinear interpolation algorithm, and achieving the accurate pixel coordinates finally. The precision, feasibility, and reliability are verified by experiments, results shows that the proposed camera calibration method is suitable for image measurement systems, displacement measurement systems and other engineering applications.

Image binarization is an important processing technology. This paper presents a new image binarization method based on dynamic gradient and global threshold. Firstly, a binary image A is generated by using the Otsu's method. Then, a binary image B is gotten with the dynamic gradient method. Lastly, the final binarization image C results from the logic AND operation using A and B. The experimental result shows that the method presented in this paper can preserve details and edges effectively compared with other binarization methods.

In this paper, firstly the surface plasma resonance (SPR) was used to evaluate the antifouling property of polydopamine-graft-poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) copolymer coating, and then the quantitative analysis of food proteins (such as hen eggs and milk powder) was investigated by capillary electrophoresis (CE) method using polydopamine-graft-PEG copolymer coated capillary. The great separations of lysozyme, conalbumin and ovalbumin from hen egg white could be achieved in phosphate–citrate buffer (pH 3.20) with an applied voltage of +20 kV in polydopamine-graft-PEG copolymer coated capillary. The range of protein recovery percentage of the three kinds of egg white proteins was 96.67% to 101.02%. According to the quantitative analysis results, the protein content of lysozyme, conalbumin and ovalbumin in hen egg white was 13.268 mg mL−1, 28.360 mg mL−1 and 157.418 mg mL−1, respectively. Whey proteins (β-lactoglobulin A, β-lactoglobulin B and α-lactalbumin) in nonfat milk powder could be separated completely with an applied voltage of −20 kV in sodium tetraborate buffer (pH 8.5). The protein recovery of β-lactoglobulin A, β-lactoglobulin B and α-lactalbumin was in the range of 86.40–94.38%. Finally, the quantitative protein content of β-lactoglobulin A, β-lactoglobulin B and α-lactalbumin in nonfat milk powder was 1.418 mg mL−1, 0.129 mg mL−1, and 0.073 mg mL−1, respectively. Also the egg white proteins could be separated consecutively 25 times without a noticeable loss in separation efficiency using polydopamine-graft-PEG copolymer coated capillary in one day.
