Objectives To identify the difference of body composition between cancer patients and those non-malignant tumor patients and analyze changes in body composition after surgical treatment for cancer, as well as estimate the relationship of preoperative body composition on postoperative systemic nutritional status and inflammation.Methods 92 patients diagnosed with different type of cancer and 91 non-malignant tumor patients were assessment body composition by bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) and compared the changes between two groups. Spearman correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the correlation and relationship between preoperative body composition and postoperative length of stay, albumin (Alb), prealbumin (PreAlb) and C-reactive protein (CRP) in cancer patients, respectively.Results Compared to the normal group, patients with gastric cancer have lower PA (P P P P P > 0.1). A negative association between preoperative ECW/TBW level and postoperative Alb were observed (β=-125.05, P = 0.0403) in fully adjusted model. We found positive associations between preoperative PA level and postoperative Alb (β = 1.52, P = 0.0593) and preoperative BMI and postoperative CRP (β = 2.54, P = 0.0690). And the preoperative FFM, FFMI, FMI, BCM, HGS level were not associated with length of hospital stay, postoperative Alb, PreAlb and CRP for cancer patients in maximally adjusted models (P > 0.10).Conclusions In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrated that preoperative body composition, especially PA and ECW/TBW ratio, were significantly associated with the Alb, PreAlb and CRP of early stage after operation for cancer patients.

Hyperuricemia may be involved in the phenotypic transformation of vascular smooth muscle cells, thus promoting the occurrence of atherosclerosis, and autophagy may be one of the important links, but little is known about the specific molecular mechanism. We established a mouse model of hyperuricemia and studied the relationship between changes in autophagy levels and the phenotypic transformation of muscle cells. Our study found that high uric acid levels promote the phenotypic transformation of muscle cells by inhibiting autophagy, thus enhancing their proliferation and migration abilities. If autophagy is restored, phenotypic transformation may be reversed by reducing KLF4 levels. Thus, uric acid may induce the phenotypic transformation of muscle cells and promote the occurrence of atherosclerosis by disrupting normal autophagy.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is an important chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of hematologic tumors and breast carcinoma. However, its clinical application is limited owing to severe cardiotoxicity. Pyroptosis is a form of programmed cell death linked to DOX-induced cardiotoxicity. Bone mesenchymal stem cell–derived exosomes (BMSC-Exos) and endothelial progenitor cells-derived exosomes(EPC-Exos) have a protective role in the myocardium. Here we found that BMSC-Exos could improve DOX-induced cardiotoxicity by inhibiting pyroptosis, but EPC-Exos couldn’t. Compared with EPCs-Exo, BMSC-Exo-overexpressing lncRNA GHET1 more effectively suppressed pyroptosis, protecting against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity. Further studies showed that lncRNA GHET1 effectively decreased the expression of Nod-like receptorprotein 3 (NLRP3), which plays a vital role in pyroptosis by binding to IGF2 mRNA-binding protein 1 (IGF2BP1), a non-catalytic posttranscriptional enhancer of NLRP3 mRNA. In summary, lncRNA GHET1 released by BMSC-Exo ameliorated DOX-induced pyroptosis by targeting IGF2BP1 to reduce posttranscriptional stabilization of NLRP3.

Background Increased Hcy level is an independent risk factor for coronary heart disease (CHD). It was proposed that yellow rice wine improves Hcy-induced EPCs dysfunction and inhibits the development of atherosclerotic plaques. In this study, we observed whether yellow rice wine and red wine improve the properties of homocysteine (Hcy)-induced endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs). Methods The bone marrow of rats was extracted to isolate EPCs from the bone marrow cell suspension using density-gradient centrifugation. The cells were inoculated on culture plates coated with human fibronectin (HFN), to induce mononuclear cell differentiation into EPCs. Samples were divided into 5 groups including a control group. Western blotting. and NO assays were used respectively to observe the generation of eNOS, p-eNOS and NO. MTT and transwell assays were conducted. Apoptosis and in vitro angiogenesis of EPCs were determined. Results Compared with the control group, the potential for proliferation, migration and in vitro angiogenesis of EPCs decreased significantly following Hcy intervention (P 0.05). No impact on apoptotic function of EPCs was observed (P > 0.05). Hcy significantly lowers the capacity of proliferation, migration and in vitro angiogenesis of EPCs and reduces the production of eNOS, p-eNOS and NO. Conclusion Our results showed Hcy significantly lowers the capacity of proliferation, migration and in vitro angiogenesis of EPCs and reduces the production of eNOS, p-eNOS and NO,which indicates that yellow rice wine and red wine in small doses improve the functions of EPCs.

Objective. Based on a retrospective case-control study, logistic multivariate analysis was employed to explore the effects of nursing and psychological factors on the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in patients with stroke. Methods. A total of 200 stroke patients treated from February 2019 to April 2020 were enrolled in our hospital. According to the results of exercise and cognitive rehabilitation, the patients with good rehabilitation were divided into the control group (n = 140) and the research group (n = 60). The effects of nursing and psychological factors on the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in patients with stroke were analyzed. Results. First of all, we compared the general data. There were significant differences in terms of age, years of education, occupational status, payment methods of medical expenses, family income and the course of the disease, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in general data ( P > 0.05 ). Secondly, we compared the nursing effective rates. The nursing effective rates of the study group were 10 cases, 15 cases, 12 cases, and 23 cases, and the nursing effective rate was 61.67%. In the control group, 78 cases were markedly effective, 33 cases were effective, 25 cases were general and 14 cases were ineffective, and the nursing effective rate was 90.00%. The effective rate of nursing in the study group was higher than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in anxiety and depression scores before nursing ( P > 0.05 ), but they decreased after nursing. In addition, the scores of anxiety and depression in the study group were higher than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in motor function and cognitive function between prenursing and prenursing ( P > 0.05 ); after nursing, the motor function increased and the score of cognitive function decreased. Furthermore, the motor function of the study group was lower compared to the control group, and the score of cognitive function of the study group was higher compared to the control group, and the difference was statistically significant ( P < 0.05 ). The results of the Person correlation analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between nursing anxiety depression and the rehabilitation effect of motor cognitive function in stroke patients. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that age, family income, nursing efficiency, anxiety, and depression were the factors affecting the rehabilitation of motor and cognitive function in stroke patients. Conclusion. Age and family income may be the risk factors affecting the psychological mood of patients. Medical staff should pay attention to the negative emotion of patients and strengthen the nursing intervention of patients.

Obesity has been a well‐known risk factor of low‐level serum vitamin D. Compared with the traditional obesity‐related indicator (body mass index, BMI), associations for two novel anthropometric indices, a body shape index (ABSI) and body roundness index (BRI) with vitamin D deficiency or insufficiency, still remain unclear. This study aimed to assess the associations of serum 25‐hydroxy vitamin D (25(OH)D) status with these three obesity‐related indices among Chinese adults. A total of 1666 individuals were included. Anthropometric measurements were performed to calculate the indices, and fasting blood was collected to determine serum 25(OH)D deficiency (, A positive association between obesity and lower 25(OH)D serum concentration was found among Chinese adults. Besides BMI, novel obesity‐related indicator, ABSI and BRI were associated with lower serum 25(OH)D to some extent, and further studies are needed to clarify their potential to be used as screening tools in clinical practice.

Purpose Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a disease that causes vision loss, vision impairment, and blindness, most frequently manifesting among preterm infants. ROPScore and CHOP ROP (Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia ROP) are similar scoring models to predict ROP using risk factors such as postnatal weight gain, birth weight (BW), and gestation age (GA). The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy and difference between using ROPScore and CHOP ROP for the early prediction of ROP. Methods A retrospective study was conducted from January 2009 to December 2019 in China. Patients eligible for enrollment included infants admitted to NICU at ≤32 weeks GA or those with ≤1500 g BW. The sensitivity and specificity of ROPScore and CHOP ROP were analyzed, as well as its suitability as an independent predictor of ROP. Results Severe ROP was found in 5.0% of preterm infants. The sensitivity and specificity of the ROPScore test at any stage of ROP was 55.8 and 77.8%, respectively. For severe ROP, the sensitivity and specificity was 50 and 87.0%, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve for the ROPScore for predicting severe ROP was 0.76. This value was significantly higher than the values for birth weight (0.60), gestational age (0.73), and duration of ventilation (0.63), when each was category measured separately. For the CHOP ROP, it correctly predicted infants who developed type 1 ROP (sensitivity, 100%, specificity, 21.4%). Conclusions The CHOP ROP model predicted infants who developed type 1 ROP at a sensitivity of 100% whereas ROPScore had a sensitivity of 55.8%. Therefore, the CHOP ROP model is more suitable for Chinese populations than the ROPScore test. Clinical registration number and STROBE guidelines This article was a retrospective cohort study and reported the results of the ROPScore and CHOP ROP algorithms. No results pertaining to interventions on human participants were reported. Thus, registration was not required and this study followed STROBE guidelines.

Background Gastrointestinal (GI) discomforts are common in the elderly population; however, whether such discomforts are associated with dietary intake has not been studied. Aim To evaluate GI discomforts in Chinese urban elders and the associated factors. Methods The gastrointestinal symptom rating scale (GSRS) was used to identify GI discomforts in 688 elders from eight cities of China. The semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire and one time of 24 h dietary recall were used to access the food intake, identify dietary pattern, and calculate the nutrients intake. Results About 83% of studied elders experienced at least one of GI discomforts in the past 6 mo; dyspepsia was the most commonly reported (66.7%), followed by reflux (44.8%), abdominal pain (35.9%), constipation (35.8%), and diarrhea (34.7%). Female gender, lower education level, and lower family income were associated with a higher GSRS score. Participants who were diagnosed with a GI-related disease had a higher score of constipation, but a lower score of reflux. Chronic diseases were positively associated with certain GI discomforts. Three dietary patterns were identified by the method of principal component analysis, which were characterized as high intake of salt and tea; more frequent intake of tubers, fruits, aquatic products, and soybeans; and high intake of cereal, vegetables, and meat, respectively. However, no associations between dietary patterns and GSRS score were found. The elders with a higher GSRS score had significantly lower intake of bean products. The elders whose GSRS score was ≥ 21 and 18-20 decreased their bean production intake by 7.2 (0.3, 14.3) g/d and 14.3 (1.2, 27.3) g/d, respectively, compared with those who had a GSRS score ≤ 17. There were no differences in other food categories, calories, or nutrients intake among elders with different GSRS scores. Conclusion GI discomforts are common in Chinese urban elders. GI discomforts might be associated with the choice of food.

Aims Doxorubicin (DOX), a widely used powerful chemotherapeutic component for cancer treatment, can give rise to severe cardiotoxicity that limits its clinical use. Pyroptosis is characterized by proinflammation and has been defined as a new type of programmed cell death in recent years. However, whether the DOX-induced cardiotoxicity is related to pyroptosis, and if so, which genes are involved in this process is largely unknown. In this study, we sought to identify the effect of DOX on cardiomyocyte pyroptosis and further reveal the underlying regulatory mechanism. Methods and results In vitro and in vivo experiments showed that DOX treatment induced cardiomyocyte pyroptosis as evidenced by increased cell death and upregulated expression levels of NLR family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3), caspase-3, IL-1β, IL-18 and GMDSD-N. Inhibition of NLRP3 rescued the DOX-induced pyroptosis. qRT-PCR showed that TINCR lncRNA was upregulated by DOX treatment and knockdown of TINCR reversed the DOX-induced pyroptosis both in vitro and in vivo. Mechanistic investigations revealed that TINCR increased NLRP3 level via recruiting IGF2BP1 to enhance NLRP3 mRNA. And the effect of TINCR on cardiomyocyte pyroptosis was attenuated by the inhibition of NLRP3 or IGF2BP1. Finally, TINCR was not involved in DOX-induced pyroptosis in cancer cells. Conclusion TINCR mediates the DOX-induced cardiotoxicity and pyroptosis in an IGF2BP1-dependent manner. Therefore, TINCR may serve as a promising therapeutic target to overcome the cardiotoxicity of chemotherapy for cancer therapy.

Several studies have shown that dysmenorrhea increased the risk of depression. However, the association between dysmenorrhea and postpartum depression (PPD) is unclear. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of dysmenorrhea on the development of PPD among Chinese women. A case-control study was performed on parturients who delivered from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2016, at Bao an Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Shenzhen, China. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) was used to screen for maternal postpartum depression. Logistic regression models were used to examine the association between dysmenorrhea and the risk of PPD. A total of 360 women including 120 cases and 240 controls were enrolled. Our study showed that parturients with PPD had a higher percentage of dysmenorrhea than women without PPD (64.2% vs 47.9%, P = 0.004). In univariate analysis, we observed that dysmenorrhea increased the risk for PPD (OR = 1.95; 95% CI: 1.24–3.06; P = 0.004). In the fully adjusted model, dysmenorrhea was still significantly associated with an increased risk of PPD (OR = 2.45; 95% CI: 1.36–4.54; P = 0.003). Our data confirmed that dysmenorrhea may be a risk factor for PPD. Therefore, screening for postpartum depression should be considered in parturients with a history of dysmenorrhea.

Many psychological and obstetrical factors contribute to the development of postpartum depression. However, little is known about how postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) influences postpartum depressive symptoms. This study explored the relationship between PPH and postpartum depressive symptoms in the Chinese population.A retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Baoan Maternal and Child Health Hospital in Shenzhen, China, from January 2016 to June 2020. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale was used to assess postpartum depressive symptoms. A multivariate logistic regression model was used to estimate the odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (95% CIs) between PPH and risk of postpartum depressive symptoms.Of the 7734 respondents, 293 (3.8%) and 7441 were in the PPH and control groups, respectively. Puerperal women with PPH were more likely to screen positive for postpartum depressive symptoms than those without PPH (16.4% vs. 11.7%, p = .016). Adjusting for other covariates, women with PPH still had higher risk of postpartum depressive symptoms (OR = 1.68, 95% CI: 1.16-2.42). Stratification analyses revealed no interaction between PPH and maternal age, prepregnancy body mass index, mode of delivery, and fetal sex in developing depressive symptoms (p for interaction .05).PPH may increase the risk of postpartum depressive symptoms. Therefore, women with PPH should be actively screened for depressive symptoms in the immediate postpartum period.

Background: Previous studies have shown that postpartum depression negatively affects breastfeeding practices. However, it is not clear whether maternal mood symptoms during pregnancy affect exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) behavior. Our study aimed to quantify the relationship between maternal mood symptoms (depression/anxiety) during pregnancy and EBF.Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted at Baoan Maternal and Child Health Hospital, Shenzhen, China, from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2016, among women who had delivered in the hospital and completed the 6-week postpartum visit. A structured questionnaire was designed to collect information on maternal mood symptoms during pregnancy and EBF status at 6 weeks postpartum. Logistic regression models were used to evaluate the associations between maternal mood symptoms (depression/anxiety) during pregnancy and EBF at 6 weeks postpartum.Results: In total, 6324 women were included in this study. In univariate analysis, we observed that depression during pregnancy was associated with a reduced risk for EBF (OR = 0.66; 95% CI: 0.54-0.81; P < 0.001). In the fully adjusted model, depression during pregnancy was still significantly associated with a reduced risk of EBF (OR=0.69; 95% CI: 0.56–0.86; P < 0.001). However, there was no significant difference in the rate of EBF between the anxiety and non-anxiety groups of women (OR=0.88; 95% CI: 0.77–1.01; P > 0.05). Conclusion: We believe that our findings confirm the adverse impact of maternal depression during pregnancy on EBF behavior. Therefore, to improve conditions for breastfeeding of infants, additional attention should be paid to women with depressive symptoms during pregnancy.

To investigate the level of yogurt intake in the Chinese population and its relationship between the level of yogurt intake and metabolic syndrome.Samples were taken from populations in 8 cities in China. Dietary surveys, physical examinations, and blood sample were collected. The level of yogurt intake of the population were calculated and evaluated. The relationship between yogurt intake and metabolic syndrome and its components was analyzed by multiple logistic regression. The yogurt intake was investigated using a diet frequency questionnaire to record the frequency and intake of yogurt in the past month.A total of 1508 respondents were included in this study, including 538 males and 970 females; the average age was 51.74 years; the distribution ratio in the North and South regions was 5∶4.The rate of Chinese population in 8 cities which eat yogurt was 50.1%. The intake of yogurt was 3.7 g/d. Yogurt accounts for 27.22% of dairy products. There were differences in the distribution of different yogurt intake groups in different genders, age groups, Body Mass Index(BMI)groups, regions, education levels, monthly income, and smoking. The differences in calcium, fruit, and total dairy product intake among different yogurt intake groups were statistically significant difference. Sample analysis found that yogurt intake was negatively correlated with metabolic syndrome and its components. We adjusted gender, age group, body mass index group, region, education grade, monthly income, smoking, total energy, protein, fat, Ca, fruit, total dairy products for multi-factor analysis and found that this negative correlation was weakened. But this negative correlation remained on abnormal blood glucose[OR=0.61(95%CI 0.42-0.89)].The yoghurt intake of Chinese residents is low. The intake of yogurt has a negative correlation with abnormal blood glucose.

Purpose To investigate the efficacy and safety of pyrotinib in treating patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2)‐positive breast cancers with brain metastasis. Patients and Methods This is a multicenter retrospective study, and the HER2‐positive breast cancer patients with brain metastasis were studied. The enrolled patients were given pyrotinib 400 mg orally once per day for 21 days as one cycle, and evaluated every two cycles. All relevant data were detected for final assessments including medical history, clinical examination, histopathology, immunohistochemistry, radiographic imaging, treatment outcome, and adverse events. Results Forty‐two female patients in total were enrolled in this study. The objective response rate (ORR) and disease control rate (DCR) of central nervous system (CNS), were found in 20 of 42 (47.6%) and in 39 of 42 (92.8%), respectively, while for extra‐CNS, the respective ORR and DCR were in 9 of 38 (23.6%) and in 36 of 38 (94.7%), respectively. The compounded ORR and DCR were seen in 17 of 42 (40.4%) and in 39 of 42 (92.8%), respectively. The improvement rate of craniocerebral symptoms after treatment was (19/19) 100% and the median duration was 15 months. The median effective time of brain metastases and other metastases was 43 and 50 days. The median follow‐up time was 22 months (interquartile range, 16.0–24.3 months). The median time for progression in brain metastasis was 16.6 months. The median time to progress for our group patients was 11.1 months. Sixteen patients (36%) with adverse reactions were recorded in the study. Conclusion Pyrotinib combined with chemotherapy/radiotherapy or alone showed significantly greater local control rates and progression free survival (PFS), with manageable toxicity for patients with HER2‐positive breast cancer with brain metastases, and further follow‐up will provide an overall survival (OS) data.

Background: Dietary polyphenols help to prevent cardiovascular diseases, and interactions between polyphenols and gut microbiota are known to exist. In this study, we speculated that gut microbiota-mediated metabolite regulation might contribute to the anticardiotoxic effects of yellow wine polyphenolic compound (YWPC) in doxorubicin (DOX)-treated rats. Methods: 16S-rDNA sequencing was performed to analyze the effects of YWPC on the gut microbiota in DOX-treated rats (n=6). Antibiotics were used to investigate the contribution of the altered microbiome to the role of YWPC (n=6). Plasma metabolomics were also analyzed by untargeted gas chromatography-mass spectrometry systems. Results: YWPC ameliorated DOX-mediated cardiotoxicity, as evidenced by increased cardiac and mitochondrial function and reduced levels of inflammation and myocardial apoptosis ( P Escherichia – Shigella , Dubosiella , and Allobaculum , along with enrichment of Muribaculaceae_unclassified , Ralstonia , and Rikenellaceae_RC9_gut_group in the gut, suggested that YWPC ameliorated DOX-induced microbial dysbiosis. YWPC also influenced the levels of metabolites altered by DOX, resulting in lower arachidonic acid and linoleic acid metabolism and higher tryptophan metabolite levels ( P Conclusions: YWPC protected against DOX-induced cardiotoxicity in a gut microbiota–dependent manner. This supports the use of dietary polyphenols as a therapeutic approach for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases via microbiota regulation.

Background: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is one of the most important epigenetic regulation of RNAs, such as lncRNAs. However, the underlying regulatory mechanism of m6A in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM) is very limited. In this study, we sought to define the role of METTL14-mediated m6A modification in pyroptosis and DCM progression.Methods: DCM rat model was established and qRT-PCR, western blot and immunohistochemistry (IHC) were used to detect the expression of METTL14 and TINCR. Gain-and-loss functional experiments were performed to define the role of METTL14-TINCR-NLRP3 axis in pyroptosis and DCM. RNA pulldown and RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP) assays were carried out to verify the underlying interaction.Results: In vivo and in vitro studies showed that pyroptosis was tightly involved in DCM progression. METTL14 was downregulated in cardiomyocytes and hear tissues of DCM rat tissues. Functionally, METTL14 suppressed pyroptosis and DCM via downregulating lncRNA TINCR, which further decreased the expression of key pyroptosis-related protein, NLRP3. Mechanistically, METTL14 increased m6A methylation level of TINCR gene, resulting in its downregulation. Moreover, the m6A reader protein YTHDF2 was essential for m6A methylation and mediated the degradation of TINCR. Finally, TINCR positively regulated NLRP3 through increasing its mRNA stability.Conclusions: Our work revealed the novel role of METTL14-mediated m6A methylation and lncRNA regulation in pyroptosis and DCM, which could help extend our understanding the epigenetic regulation of pyroptosis in DCM progression.

Background: Cardiac fibroblast (CF) activation is a hallmark feature of cardiac fibrosis in diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). Inhibition of the sodium-dependent glucose transporter 1 (SGLT1) attenuates cardiomyocyte apoptosis and delays the development of DCM. However, the role of SGLT1 in CF activation remains unclear.Methods: A rat model of DCM was established and treated with si‐SGLT1 to examine cardiac fibrosis. In addition, in vitro experiments were conducted to verify the regulatory role of SGLT1 in proliferation and collagen secretion in high-glucose– (HG–) treated CFs.Results: SGLT1 was found to be upregulated in diabetic cardiac tissues and HG-induced CFs. HG stimulation resulted in increased proliferation and migration, increased the expression of transforming growth factor-β1 and collagen I and collagen III, and increased phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) 1/2. These trends in HG-treated CFs were significantly reversed by si-SGLT1. Moreover, the overexpression of SGLT1 promoted CF proliferation and collagen synthesis and increased phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase and ERK1/2. SGLT1 silencing significantly alleviated cardiac fibrosis, but had no effect on cardiac hypertrophy in diabetic hearts.Conclusion: These findings provide new information on the role of SGLT1 in CF activation, suggesting a novel therapeutic strategy for the treatment of DCM fibrosis.

To explore the association between energy and protein intake and sarcopenia among elder people from eight cities across China.The current study is based on a previous research conducted in 2016 which was named "Chinese Urban Adults Diet and Health Study". A total of 427 participants aged 65 and older were enrolled. Questionnaire was conducted to obtain the socio-demographic characteristics of participants. 24 h dietary recall was used to assess the dietary intake and energy and protein intake was calculated according to China Food Composition. The subjects were then divided into four groups(Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4) according to their energy intake(lt;1197. 6 kcal/d, 1197. 6-1531. 4 kacl/d, 1531. 4-1984. 0 kcal/d, ≥1984. 1 kacl/d) and protein intake(lt;36. 8 g/d, 36. 8-50. 4 g/d, 50. 4-68. 6 g/d, ≥68. 6 g/d). Bioelectrical impedance analysis was used to measure the skeletal muscle mass, hand-held grip strength meter was used to measure the skeletal muscle strength, and four-meter gait speed test was used to measure the skeletal muscle performance. According to the criteria of Asian Working Group for Sarcopenia, the health status of the skeletal muscle was evaluated.Compared with the Q1 group, there was no significant difference in skeleton muscle mass, grip strength, walking speed and the detection rate of sarcopenia among the energy intake groups(Q2-Q4). Compared with the Q1 group, the Q2 protein intake group had greater grip strength(β=0. 12, 95%CI 0. 03-0. 21, P=0. 009) and faster gait speed(β=0. 20, 95%CI 0. 07-0. 34, P=0. 003).The level of protein intake is associated with the grip strength and gait speed of the elderly in China, but has no significant effect on the detection rate of sarcopenia.

Growing evidence has suggested that dietary modification is implicated with sleep alteration. Our study aimed to determine whether an association between diet in terms of diet quality, certain food consumption, and dietary nutrients intake and sleep quality existed in Chinese urban adults, which has been fully investigated. A cross‐sectional study was conducted among urban adults from eight Chinese cities. Total of 1,548 participants remained in the final analysis. Sleep quality was evaluated by the Chinese version of the Pittsburg Sleep Questionnaire Index. Diet quality, evaluated by Chinese Healthy Diet Index, and dietary intake, including food groups and nutrients, were derived from a semiquantitative Food Intake Frequencies Questionnaire and a single 24‐hr dietary recall. The relationship between dietary variables and sleep quality was examined using multivariable logistic regression models. Logistic regression analysis indicated that better diet quality, which features greater food diversity, higher ingestion of fruits and fish, along with higher seafood consumption, lower eggs consumption, and higher total energy intake, was significantly associated with lower risk of poor sleep quality in the crude model and the fully adjusted model with adjustment for gender, age, self‐rated health condition, self‐assessed mental stress, smoking, hypertension, and BMI. Therefore, we reached a conclusion that diet quality and certain food consumption were related to sleep quality. Although the associations observed in the cross‐sectional study require further investigation in prospective studies, dietary intervention, such as enhancement in food diversity and consumption of fruits and seafood, might serve as a probable strategy for sleep improvement.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is considered as the major culprit in chemotherapy‐induced cardiotoxicity. Yellow wine polyphenolic compounds (YWPC), which are full of polyphenols, have beneficial effects on cardiovascular disease. However, their role in DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity is poorly understood. Due to their antioxidant property, we have been suggested that YWPC could prevent DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity. In this study, we found that YWPC treatment (30 mg/kg/day) significantly improved DOX‐induced cardiac hypertrophy and cardiac dysfunction. YWPC alleviated DOX‐induced increase in oxidative stress levels, reduction in endogenous antioxidant enzyme activities and inflammatory response. Besides, administration of YWPC could prevent DOX‐induced mitochondria‐mediated cardiac apoptosis. Mechanistically, we found that YWPC attenuated DOX‐induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and down‐regulation of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF‐β1)/smad3 pathway by promoting nuclear factor (erythroid‐derived 2)‐like 2 (Nrf2) nucleus translocation in cultured H9C2 cardiomyocytes. Additionally, YWPC against DOX‐induced TGF‐β1 up‐regulation were abolished by Nrf2 knockdown. Further studies revealed that YWPC could inhibit DOX‐induced cardiac fibrosis through inhibiting TGF‐β/smad3‐mediated ECM synthesis. Collectively, our results revealed that YWPC might be effective in mitigating DOX‐induced cardiotoxicity by Nrf2‐dependent down‐regulation of the TGF‐β/smad3 pathway.
