The Tanach (Hebrew Bible), called by Christians the Old Testament, is a compendium of millenary books of a summarily religious and historical character. The Sefer Shoftim (Book of Judges), prosaic book belonging to the nevi’im section, narrates the period of performance of the judges/liberators of Israel, in the transition between the slavery of the people in Egypt and the monarchical government. Whether for its historical or religious character, such material has received great exegetical attention during all the millennia of its existence. In the last two centuries, the Hebrew Bible has been the target of different characterizations, being applied, consequently, several interpretative methods in its analysis, based on current scientific, philosophical, and literary currents. The current scenario is divided, in a macro character, between those who defend a naturalist/realist view of the book and those who still defend its supernatural character. Still others, far from this theological and philosophical discussion, turn to the text as literary material, diverging, even so, in the ways of perceiving it and, consequently, in their analysis models. In this still timid approach, as indicated by Bar-Efrat (2003, p. 11-12), some more prominent proponents can be noted in English or Hebrew (Cf. ALTER, 2007, p. 32-38). In Portuguese, however, there is a minimum production of studies on the subject, with the concepts being mostly accessed through few translations of foreign works; locus that closes the problematic and objectives of the present work (Cf. FERREIRA, 2008; LIMA, 2015; MAGALHÃES, 2008). The questions that are raised here, with all this, are: What is, therefore, the poetic constitution of the prose of the Book of Judges and, consequently, of the Hebrew Bible? How is your text constructed and exposed from its morphosyntactic, stylistic and semantic structure? Thus, the general objective that guides this research is to carry out an analysis of the poetics of the Hebrew Bible, taking the Book of Judges as a sample. Seeking to achieve this objective, the present study was elaborated in three correlated parts. First, from an extensive analysis of the specialized literature, as well as documental analysis, paradigmatic aspects were listed that provide the theoretical support for the analysis of the text. In possession of this theoretical basis, in application of the methodology described in its own section, a commented translation of the Book of Judges was made in the following section. The translation was done using the Leningrad codex B19a (L). In concluding efforts, the third section concluded a systematic organization and analysis of the poetic elements mapped in the previous section. Through didactic interest, the elements extracted from the work were organized into three distinct groups, namely: linguistic and structural issues; structuring aspects of the narrative; and ideological and doctrinal issues. In view of this exhibition, it was possible to map the poetic elements that constitute the prosaic text of this book and, consequently, of the entire corpus Mestrado Teoria e Crítica Literária CNPQ 130492/2020-5
