A sustainable strategy based on chitin from waste seafood is proposed to remove nano‐size microplastics in water. A chitin nanofibrous foam is constructed by a new hydrogen bond rearrangement scheme without any crosslinking, which delivers an impressive high adsorption capacity of 411.14 ± 1.50 mg g−1 for small‐sized (< 1 µm) microplastics. This excellent adsorption capacity stems from the rough fibrous surface structure of the highly porous foam, the positively charged nature of the partially deacetylated chitin and other molecular interactions introduced by the activation and increased exposure of ‐OH, ‐NH2 and ‐NHCO‐ groups. Molecular dynamics simulation further demonstrates that C‐H‐π, O‐H‐π, and C = O‐π interactions between the microplastics and chitin foam facilitates the efficient removal of microplastics. A high removal efficiency is maintained even in salty water, a property that exemplifies good adaptability to various water bodies. Finally, two proof‐of‐principle scenarios are presented for converting the recovered microplastics into value‐added products. Emerging adsorption technology shows great potential for Pb2+ removal in the human body because of its high adsorption efficiency and easy operation. However, biosafety concerns in the human body limit the development of adsorbents in integrated lead removal for acute poisoning in humans from the gastrointestinal tract and even the blood. In this work, highly bio‐safe and natural saccharomyces cerevisiae cells are immobilized on the interworking natural regenerated cellulose nanofibers network for integrated lead removal in the human body. High intrinsic biosafety of the aerogel is guaranteed due to the biocompatibility of aerogel composition and the absence of cross‐linking substances. Attributing to the porous structure of cellulose nanofibrous scaffolds, saccharomyces cerevisiae cells are protected from shedding, and considerable loading sites for saccharomyces cerevisiae cells are ensured. Simultaneously, abundant functional groups on the saccharomyces cerevisiae cells exhibit superior adsorption ability with a saturated adsorption capacity of lead ions as high as 107 mg g−1 in the aquatic environment. After adsorption, Pb2+ concentration decreases from 879.70 to 248.53 µg L−1 in the intestinal phase and from 400 to 186.29 µg L−1 (within a safe level) in blood, providing an attractive strategy for detoxification of integrated lead in the human body. Microplastic remediation in aquatic bodies is essential for the entire ecosystem, but is challenging to achieve with a universal and efficient strategy. Here, we developed a sustainable and environmentally adaptable adsorbent through supramolecular self-assembly of chitin and cellulose. This biomass fibrous framework (Ct-Cel) showcases an excellent adsorption performance for polystyrene, polymethyl methacrylate, polypropylene, and polyethylene terephthalate. The affinity for diverse microplastics is attributed to the transformation of multiple intermolecular interactions between different microplastics and Ct-Cel. Meanwhile, the strong resistance of Ct-Cel to multiple pollutants in water enables an enhanced adsorption when coexisting with microorganisms and Pb 2+ . Moreover, Ct-Cel can remove 98.0 to 99.9% of microplastics in four types of real water and maintains a high removal efficiency of up to 95.1 to 98.1% after five adsorption cycles. This work may open up prospects for functional biomass materials for cost-efficient remediation of microplastics in complex aquatic environments.
