Long-term spectroscopic monitoring campaigns on active galactic nuclei (AGNs) provide a wealth of information about its interior structure and kinematics. However, a number of the observations suffer from the contamination of second-order spectra (SOS) which will introduce some undesirable uncertainties at the red side of the spectra. In this paper, we test the effect of SOS and propose a method to correct it in the time domain spectroscopic data using the simultaneously observed comparison stars. Based on the reverberation mapping (RM) data of NGC 5548 in 2019, one of the most intensively monitored AGNs by the Lijiang 2.4 m telescope, we find that the scientific object, comparison star, and spectrophotometric standard star can jointly introduce up to similar to 30% SOS for Grism 14. This irregular but smooth SOS significantly affects the flux density and profile of the emission line, while having little effect on the light curve. After applying our method to each spectrum, we find that the SOS can be corrected effectively. The deviation between corrected and intrinsic spectra is similar to 2%, and the impact of SOS on time lag is very minor. This method makes it possible to obtain the H alpha RM measurements from archival data provided that the spectral shape of the AGN under investigation does not have a large change.

In this paper we present our studies on the stellar populations and star formation histories (SFHs) for the Reines et al. sample of 136 dwarf galaxies which host active galactic nuclei (AGNs), selected from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 8. We derive stellar populations and reconstruct SFHs for these AGN-host dwarfs using the stellar population synthesis code STARLIGHT. Our results suggest that these AGN-host dwarfs have assembled their stellar masses within a narrow period of time with the stellar mass-weighted ages in the range of $10^9-10^{10}$yr, but show a wide diversity of SFHs with the luminosity-weighted stellar ages in the range of $10^7-10^{10}$yr. The old population ($t>10^9$yr) contributes most to the galaxy light for the majority of the sample; the young population ($t<10^8$yr) also appears in significant but widely varying fractions, while the intermediate-age population ($10^8 10^{39}$erg s$^{-1}$, indicating that there is a physical connection between star formation and AGN activities in these dwarf galaxies., Comment: 12 pages, 10 figures. We present our photometric monitoring of a flat spectrum radio quasar (FSRQ) 3C 454.3 at Yunnan observatories from 2006 to 2011. We find that the optical color of 3C 454.3 shows obvious redder-when-brighter trend, which reaches a saturation stage when the source is brighter than 15.15 mag at V band. We perform a simulation with multiple values of disk luminosity and spectral index to reproduce the magnitude-color diagram. The results show that the contamination caused by the disk radiation alone is difficult to produce the observed color variability. The variability properties during the outburst in December 2009 are also compared with $\gamma$-ray data derived from Fermi $\gamma$-ray space telescope. The flux variation of these two bands follow a linear relation with $F_{\gamma} \propto F_R^{1.14\pm0.07}$, which provides an observational evidence for external Compton process in 3C 454.3. Meanwhile, this flux correlation indicates that electron injection is the main mechanism for variability origin. We also explore the variation of the flux ratio $F_{\gamma}/F_R$ and the detailed structures in the lightcurves, and discuss some possible origins for the detailed variability behaviors., Comment: accepted for publication in The Astrophysical Journal, 5 figures, 2 tables

We simulated the $R$-band contribution of the host galaxy of TeV $\gamma$-ray BL Lac object Mrk 501 in different aperture sizes and seeing conditions . The intensive observations were run with the 1.02 m optical telescope at Yunnan Observatories from 2010 May 15 to 18. Based on the host subtraction data presented in Nilsson et al. (2007), the subtraction of host galaxy contamination results in significant seeing-brightness correlations. These correlations would lead to illusive large amplitude variations at short timescales, which will mask the intrinsic micro variability, thus gives rise to difficulty in detecting the intrinsic micro variability. Both aperture size and seeing condition influence the flux measurements, but aperture size impact the result more significantly. Based on the parameters of elliptical galaxy provided in Nilsson et al. (1999), we simulated the host contributions of Mrk 501 in the different aperture sizes and seeing conditions. Our simulation data of the host galaxy obviously weaken these significant seeing-brightness correlations for the host-subtracted brightness of Mrk 501, and can help us discover the intrinsic short timescale micro variability. We make an analysis of the distribution of the extensive Doppler redshift defined as $\widetilde{z}_{Dopp}=(z_{abs}-z_{em})/(1+z_{em})$ with a sample of 1317 absorption redshifts available from 401 quasars. The analysis reveals a bi-peak structure in the distribution, with one component located at $\widetilde{z}_{Dopp}\simeq 0.00$ and the other at $\widetilde{z}% _{Dopp}\simeq -0.01$. A study of some possible causes suggests that the structure can be well interpreted: while the absorbers inside the same cluster as the quasar concerned could contribute to the first component and the less populated space between clusters could explain the gap between the two peaks, the typical distance between clusters could account for the second component. If the bi-peak structure is true, which needs to be confirmed by complete samples, one would be able to obtain some useful cosmological information., Comment: 13 pages, 8 figures
